I imagine this has something to do with all the problems people were having last week, myself included. I've got plenty of other games to play so this doesn't bother me :).Friday, August 22, 2014 @ 10:03 AM
Eh fine by me, give me time to read, watch TV shows, movies, maybe even play some offline games.Friday, August 22, 2014 @ 10:04 AM
Why is it that games that do not require PS+ dont work online during these maintenance periods? ie Final Fantasy XIV?Friday, August 22, 2014 @ 10:23 AM
Great planning on Sonys part again to plan this during a UK holiday. I might have to go outside now lol.Friday, August 22, 2014 @ 10:44 AM
Lately I've found even if I logged in since the Date Sony recommends I still can't get into PSN but... oh well I've got some offline games I need to be getting on with anyway.Friday, August 22, 2014 @ 10:45 AM
I hope this maintenance finish sooner because @ 26th of august I am supposed to have the following - the walking dead season two final episode - dark souls 2 the crown of the iron king dlc - ps4 Infamous: first lightFriday, August 22, 2014 @ 11:28 AM
You mangled the times. Downtime starts 9:40 AM (not PM) PST. Also not sure why you posted the EU times using different zones (GMT for start, BST for end). Bottom line is about 31 hours of downtime in all regions by the look of it.Friday, August 22, 2014 @ 11:30 AM
On a bank holiday, brilliant timingFriday, August 22, 2014 @ 11:50 AM
@7 I think it should read as 8 hours downtime, if you take the EU times with the dates (rather than the end date with the US times)... though these maintenance periods always seems to land on a UK (except Scotland, this time) bank holiday, annoyingly.Friday, August 22, 2014 @ 11:56 AM
It's been many weeks of PS home and server disconnection errors I've experienced in Canada. There's a tendency for random, unexpected re-loading of PS home spaces unnecessarily interrupting service, if not being kicked out completely from the service and/or signed out from PS network. (Unusual occurrences compared to my experience with the service of yesteryears)Friday, August 22, 2014 @ 12:03 PM
So, basically, it's going to interrupt the first day of Madden pretty significantly. That's dumb. They need to start this Sunday and finish Monday.Friday, August 22, 2014 @ 12:44 PM
Pretty strange time to schedule it considering it's a Bank Holiday in the UK, Tuesday would have been much better for those who have the day off. At least they've given some sort of reason (albeit a superficial one) for maintenance this time rather than slapping a date on and not giving any further information about improvements or whatever.Friday, August 22, 2014 @ 01:13 PM
Has anyone else had problems with the PS Store just randomly kicking you out on PS3? Seems to happen any time I'm on it for more than 3 minutes. Hoping this resolves that problem.Friday, August 22, 2014 @ 02:12 PM
#13 Yes I had this about 5 times last night trying to browse the summer sale section. Kept getting a blank screen and returned to the xmb without any reason or message. Thought my console was on the blink. Also had serious lag issues while on the store, purchased Deus Ex: DC and it took over 4 mins to just "preparing to download" in the background. Normally it's a few seconds. Bit disappointed with the summer sale, think we'll get a "bank holiday" sale when the sore comes bk onlineFriday, August 22, 2014 @ 02:47 PM
@9 - You are correct. That makes Lee's post even more butchered(IMO) I had seen the tweet indicating an 'extended' period of downtime, and assumed it was over 2 days. I checked the blog, and in fact they anticipate 7 hours of downtime. The original post by Lee above is still all kinds of wrong.Friday, August 22, 2014 @ 02:59 PM
Won't be home for most of it.Friday, August 22, 2014 @ 03:46 PM
I will probably be watching Man City v Liverpool anyway. will play some offline games too.Friday, August 22, 2014 @ 04:30 PM
@3: Because these games still rely on tokens to identify your PSN account which is granted by the log-in server. That's why you can still play if you logged in before maintenance starts - the token is still valid. Wow, the times are really all over the place. PT/ET aren't official (and frankly, I've never seen them used before) abbreviations, it's PDT / EDT currently. :P And why on earth do they give x:40 / x:50 as times? Starting time - okay, that can be planned. But finishing around 10min before a full hour? Or even planning 10mins more instead of full hours for a task this long?Friday, August 22, 2014 @ 04:44 PM
So this is going to interfere with the 9.99 flash sale. You guys posted it wrong saying its from august 25 to 26 its only august 25 for 7 hoursFriday, August 22, 2014 @ 05:03 PM
Ummm, I'm planning on downloading infamous first light and Metro Redux those days. Will this affect the downloads?Friday, August 22, 2014 @ 06:15 PM
@20: I think so, I just had an email come through saying they had cancelled my preorder for First Light, so I'm assuming that this is the reasonSunday, August 24, 2014 @ 04:39 PM
Uhmm... It's F*cking Sunday and my PS3 and PS4 say Playstation is undergoing maintenance. WTF???Sunday, August 24, 2014 @ 05:48 PM
Looks like they started early... PSN is down.Sunday, August 24, 2014 @ 10:00 PM
Monday my arse, it's been down all of Sunday. I don't really mind but I really need to sync up my PS4 and Vita trophies, PS3 I can still log in with.

Sony is planning further PlayStation Network maintenance on August 25th, to "deploy a series of back-end improvements to the network”.
The maintenance period will run from 5:40PM GMT / 9:40PM PT / 12:40PM ET on Monday August 25th until 2:50AM BST / 4:50PM PT / 7:50PM ET on Tuesday August 26th.
During that time, users will be unable to access the following services:
“If you’ve signed in to the network any time since August 20th you will be able to play games online and access partner apps such as Netflix during this maintenance period,” adds the US PS Blog.
