Ryse 2 Could Come to Other Platforms, Says Crytek

Crytek has revealed that a sequel to Xbox One and soon-to-be PC title Ryse: Son of Rome could still materialise, despite the company's recent financial troubles. What's more, it could make Ryse 2 with whichever publisher it chooses on whatever platform it wants, as the IP belongs to Crytek.

Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli noted that its relationship with Microsoft is a good one, but the company is unhappy with sales of Xbox One. As a result, it would want to extend the reach of Ryse 2 to other platforms in order to find a higher installed base. Roman hack 'n slasher Ryse: Son of Rome is already on its way to PC, so it'd be fair to assume that the sequel could come to PlayStation 4.

"We have a good relationship with Microsoft. We are constantly looking at what we can do together. We are not 100 per cent happy with Xbox One sales right now. So we want to wait till the current gen and next gen catches up," said Yerli. "For Ryse 2, we aren't saying it's cancelled. It's our IP. It just has to wait for the right timing. And the right timing means higher installed base across next-gen."

As for the platforms that Ryse 2 could appear on, that's wide open. "We can do whatever we want with it with whoever we want," Yerli noted. it sounds like we could be seeing Ryse 2 on PlayStation 4 then.

  • i hope it stays on xBone, Bc this game was garBage! please Crytek scarp this game totally and focus the resources for this game into a new time splitters pretty please!
  • i swore they said ryse was a total disaster and that they canceled ryse 2.......
  • I'm going to be honest Crytek, I wouldn't play it if it was free.
  • So us PS4 users going to get Ryse 1 bundled in also? because umm i don't really know what happened in Ryse 1...so why would i buy Ryse 2
  • "We are not 100 per cent happy with Xbox One sales right now." Then perhaps they should've partnered up with Sony instead of Microsoft. That's what happens when you choose the wrong side.
  • @4 Ryse didn't sell well on Xbox One because it's garbage, absolute crap. See Knack on Sony's side. There's also no such thing as the wrong side if they made it multi platform.
  • We might be making Ryse 2 (or might not) We might make it multiplatform (or it might be an exclusive if someone pays us enough) We might be having financial troubles (but might not, and didn't have to sell off Crytek UK) We might make TimeSplitters again (but might not, or not now, or maybe we will...) This guy just loves to hear himself talk...but does he ever actually say ANYTHING????
  • I like Ryse, it wasn't very deep but it was a great starting point to create a franchise, like how watch dogs was also lackluster.
  • Gameplay wasn't too bad until all those button prompts come up. Really screws you up when you aren't familiar with an Xbox controller's ABXY buttons. I'll probably pick up Ryse on PC when it's around $5, and that'll determine if I like it enough to get Ryse 2 for PS4.
  • they pick the wrong side and payed for it. but still not learn from it.
  • @5,10: As #6 put it: There is no wrong side. If you go exclusive for any console, you'll miss out on approximately half the market, no matter what side you choose. The QTEs were obscene on it, but else it seems like an enjoyable mindless spectacle fighter in a fresh setting. I wouldn't mind it lose its exclusivity. Just get lose of the voice commands, please.
  • They said the same about Sunset Overdrive, Titanfall sequel could make it to PS4, and Deadrising sequels are very possible to go multi platform again. Microsoft isn't too smart, their big games on Xbox One isn't even theirs and they pay big money to have other studios make games for their console. Sony has always been smart with their exclusives, they basically own all their IPs and studios. Microsoft are going to lose these IPs unless they pay big money again. Just earlier this year they finally bought the rights to Gears of War one of their longest reigning exclusives. How hard is it for a company who has more money than Sony to not be able to own half of their exclusives?
  • Just give me Dead Rising 3 on the PlayStation side and then I'd be happy >.>
  • #13 - agreed, and I would like to have Sunset Overdrive =( This is kinda funny actually but it might be smart considering Crytek's conditions atm...
  • Fucking keep it yerli not interested in your or your dog shit games let M$ keep them
