Well he's right but I only agree on a different reason.
If you'd like to search on dlc alphabetacally you'll search on the dlc and not on the name of the game, which is pretty much pointless because I sometimes know I want to look at dlc for a certain game without knowing the name of every piece of dlc.
And search doesn't always work either, for example tried searching for the Dead Space 3 dlc a few days ago and unless you know the exact name of the dlc good luck finding it.

Constructive criticism, I like it. Has a point I suppose, doesn't affect me much as I rarely buy on a whim, but when logging into the store I see Call of Duty blown up to epic proportions and shoved in my face over more interesting titles.
Would like to browse the store based on categories and have it throw up recommendations while shopping or based on my previous purchases. I know it does it now to some degree, but it's not effective really.
Indie bundles would be great. I know the Humble Bundle is really popular and indie bundles do good business on STEAM. Can't see why Sony would not allow this, what have they got to lose?

There's a lot that could improve with the store, starting with pricing. Digital continues to be at least 20% higher than retail in most circumstances, without factoring in resale value (or lack thereof for digital titles).
I have yet to purchase a AAA title day one on digital, and see no reason to in the near future.
Furthermore, the absurd no refunds or cancellations on preorders is ridiculous for an industry that should be seeking business, not actively turning it away.
I will say though, I find the online store to be much more user friendly than the console version, with the exception of the Vita store, which is quite pleasant and efficient to browse.

Certainly room to improve the PS store and #3 is right also, the digital prices even on old game is just crazy. I only use the store for sales,DLC and PS+. With pre-loading for PS4 if the dropped prices to at least compete with retail stores then I would buy new release games from the store.

@4 I probably have to tell you I'm from Europe because I know it isn't an issue in the States however it will only show 7 dlc's when I search for it.
There are even posts about it on the forums and even on Gamefaqs.
It is still there but unless you search specifically for "Awakened" you won't find it.
I don't know if every European country has this problem but I know the Netherlands and Finnish people do.
You can still get it via the ingame store too though.

[but in terms of organically finding a title, in terms of stumbling across a game, it’s very difficult.]
What could be more organic than typing in the game you're looking for? The only problem I have is paying the exact same price for the DC as I do for a physical copy. That's absurd no matter how you try to rationalize it.

Search is awful, but downloads in general are painful.
On my Xbox, I select a game and can pin it ot home (In case I'm on the fence and want to find it quickly again later), but if I want to buy it now, I select "Buy now", selcet "Okay", and I'm done. I can turn my console off and when I come back the next morning, it's ready to play.
On my PS#, I have to use the try to find it (a challenge from the start; seraching for "Resident Evil" didn't return Resident Evil: Director's Cut, I had to instead search for "Director's"). Once I find it and select download, it goes into a cart. The cart only holds 5 items (only been an issue once, but it was a pain in the @$$ on dollar-game day). Once I selcet download, I need to then selcet Download in Background in order to do anything else (WTF?!) Then I have to leave my PS3 powered on, or the download stops. When I next turn on the PS3, I can't play yet. No, I need to install the f'n game now (seriously, WTF?!) And the install locks up my PS3.
Awful. PS3 has some great exclusives and I enjoy the titles, but the interface is abysmal. Microsoft shames Sony in this.

I have to agree, I dislike the search function within the store. It's something that always bugged me.
I also dislike the pricing. I'm fine paying what I do at retail stores, because I know they have staff costs, rent costs, I get a disc out of it and it has resale value. I don't want to be paying that exact same amount (or often, more) for a digital copy of a game. If the prices were lower (in Australia, they are incredibly high as it is) I'd be considering a digital only collection, but at the moment it's completely off the table as an option.

I like the idea of bundles and not sure why this is not possible right now. But as far as visibility goes, I am totally fine with the way things are. 99% of the time I get on PSN when I know what I am looking for and if it's not on front I can just search for it.

@11: That's the point: Unless you know what you're looking for, it's hard to find anything not thrown into your face. Most shops have a small section like "things people bought instead" or "things people bought along with it" or "things similar to this item". Or how about some random collection of games presented to you?
It's digital - there are so many possibilities.

They need to change it back to how it was as it was faster on PS3 I understand it's a complete one store for PS3/4 but they should have created a separate one for PS4 and kept PS3's the same and it would of been better.
It was easier to find stuff and faster to get what you wanted and paid for I think, then I agree digital releases need to be lower than street prices there's no middle man to delivery to stores, no one to put it on the shelf, no manual no disc no case so cost shouldn't be higher

I absolutely hate the PSN store. Coming from 360 to PS4, it's like a train wreck. Something came out recently (I think OctoDad) and it took me forever to find it (I wanted to find it without searching the name). Over on 360, they have games broken up between arcade, retail, demos, indies, and something else. You click into one of those categories, and it conveniently has the titles with a graphic ordered by download release date. I can go look at the arcade releases and see if anything new has been put up.
The other thing that stinks, is the lack of demos. I loved trying arcade games on 360 to decide if I was going to buy it. There are so few demos on PS4.

Thank you team 17 for speaking up on this topic , finally we have some one on our side that can talk directly to Sony . But they are only focused on part of the problem : the old store used to put everything into categories , they need to go back to that , downloads need to be faster , games that have trophies need to be labeled as such , games that don't have trophies need to be labeled as such , search needs to allow users to search by title and we should be able to spell out the name completely , and all games should have a demo .

The PS3 store is fine, but sluggish because it was never planned to be that way years ago when they built they PS3.
However, I don't know if it's the lack of content, but the PS4 store, while being hell of a lot faster, almost instant most of the time, also isn't up to par on even the most basic stuff.
For example, on PS3 store, you can see what is new "This Week" instead of only "This Month". I always check that every week to see everything that is new.
PlaystationPlus section isn't the same. On the PS3, I can see everything on offer including weekly deals. On Ps4, there is no section like that. I have to manually find every deal or free download.
I know it's a work in progress, as Sony is trying to do an enourmous amount of stuff at the same time. Firmware updates, feature updates, software updates, etc. Since every game being released by developers are still "new" to the PS4, almost all of them are requiring patches. (Sniper Elite III being a recent example). I don't mind the patching, used to it from PC gaming, but it has to be an enourmous load on Sony as each patch for every game has to be gone over by Sony's QA, not just the publishers. Then the updates to the Free to play Games. Trophy updates, etc.
This is during the first year of the system, while a lot of Sony's resources are being used by marketing. You want your system to sell and have games and exclusives like Bloodbourne before you put monet into making the store more fluid. As it stands, it's functional, if not a little clunky.
Give me the layout and options of the PS3 store with the PS4 speed and I will be a happy gamer.

As far as prices, Sony really only controls thier first and second party prices. Plus, this isn't Valve, a company who has pretty much given up developing games (where is my Episode 3 of Half-Life 3?) to make money with Steam. Valve went from being a game developer, to storefront, complete with customer service and forums, etc. Now they are greenlighting games not even done for early access or alpha access.
Sony the reason you don't see competitive prices is because you would basically need an entire team to compete with not only digital, but retail sales as well.
Also, they don't allow returns or cancelations because of this reason as well. They would have to train and staff an entire customer service department for that. It's basically "Don't preorder or buy this unless you really want it". And it's not shy about telling you exactly that.
Basically, you want Sony's Store to become the digital version of GameStop. The only problem with this is, GameStop is JUST a retail chain. They sell new and used items. They don't make hardware and software as well, and there is a reason for that: money.
So basically, what I am saying here, is Sony simply doesn't have an infinite supply of money to dip into. Right now, all they are worried about is getting the PS4 into as many peoples hands as possible, marketing it, making games for it, and adding features to have it at the top of the chain.

How hard is it to categorize everything in simple easy formats? Who ever is head of the PS store should be terminated.

I've disliked the PS store ever since it was updated about two years ago. I'm not saying I want it to go back to the way it was, but as the guy in this article says, its difficult to find the new stuff. I know the update from about two months ago has improved things slightly, but when you try to find whats new in dlc, unlike the old store when it had the new weekly releases all in one section, now you have to scroll through every individual piece of crap thats been released. I don't care about whats been released in Rocksmith this week, and I'm sick of having to wade through a billion new skins for the likes of DOA or JRPGs. Especially when its not alphabetized.

The original store interface was best. It was fast, simple, easy, and had room for a lot of content on the screen at once but not in a cluttered way. If I remember you could change the way items were displayed. Searching was less annoying as you could type rather than scroll through letters in some ghetto YouTube TV fashion. Recommended/similar products were easier to find. It had every category for anything you could want.
This current version is pure ass. These guys are completely lying trying to downplay insulting it because it is hot garbage. Clicking on categories leads to 20 more categories that I care nothing about. Sure they tied all related items to the game but, like mentioned, finding things organically is impossible. The things the put on the main pages are shit I care nothing for and when I do it doesn't take me to the game page but a stupid video. And to top it all off, they completely removed categories like themes and avatars (more of the organically finding things argument).
My time on the PS Store has gone down dramatically since the new version was put in place. I avoid going in it. I use the web store if I need to use it. I barely even buy anything since it's so much of a hassle. Most people I talk to feel the same. It's tolerable on PS4 but I still avoid it like the plague when possible. It needs a facelift, ASAP.

For the prices in ps store, it´s really simple. they don´t want to step to retailers toes. competing against your partner is not a good idea. pissed retailer could stop selling ps products if they see that people would buy all their games from ps store. and the prices for older games? retailers have very limited shelve capacity for holding products, it´s easy to find cheap game from retailer who wants to sell it´s stock from an old game. ps store does not have that problem and you always have it in stock there.
i personally buy all my games on disc if it´s anyway possible. after nearly 200 ps3 titles on my shelve its pretty fun to pop in one of those older titles to console and start playing.
as for the interface of ps3 store, it´s shit. it´s slower than the older version. ps4 has a bit better one, but still needs some work to be done.

|The only thing I miss from the old format of the store. Its the alphabetical search. Sometimes I can't remember the exact name of a game I saw. |I don't like the store either. I use it on PS3, PC and Vita. |
All versions are terrible.
Recently I was trying to find out what games I could download on PS+ IGC on the PS3. It only lists the PS3 games now. It used to have option to download the vita ones as well. I kept bouncing around the menus trying to find out what games were available to download for the other systems, but made no progress.
Now... the best way to find out information is google for the proper PS blog or IGN post to find a clear list of weekly deals and releases. Then load up the store on a new browser window. Wait for the slow store to load and use the search tool.
It is pretty horrible. Honestly... I wonder how much money they havent made from people giving up trying to buy things.
