Activision has announced Skylanders: Trap Team, the latest title in the series from Spyro's Adventure and Skylanders Giants dev, Toys for Bob. This one will see the introduction of more than 50 new Skylanders, including new core characters and unique Trap Masters.

Trap Team will also make use of miniature 'Traptanium' trap accessories that plug into a new Traptanium Portal, enabling you to ensnare villains and play as them at any time. There'll be eight traps - each representing the game's eight elements - with a variety of elemental baddies to collect.

Skylanders: Trap Team will be available as a Starter Pack, bundling the game with the new portal, two Skylanders figures - Snap Shot and Food Fight - and the life and water traps. It'll be coming to PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, Wii and 3DS on October 5th in North America and on October 10th in Europe.

You'll find images of the Skylanders: Trap Team Starter Pack, as well as Snap Shot, Food Fight and Wallop figurines below. There's also a few illustrations of the characters, including flying dinosaur, Chopper. You can also check out our first look preview here and the first screenshots here.

  • 50 new characters, a new portal, and eight different "trap" attachments?!? I am not opening that Pandora's Box. This will be the first Skylanders game I actively and strenuously steer my kids away from. You got too greedy Activision.
  • And to think Nintendo could've had this milking all to themselves.
  • I'm not too crazy about spending the money on another portal, however i'm really enjoying Swap Force so I might get it at launch depending on which other games are out at the time.
  • another friggin portal f n a really..... my kids will demand i buy this im just tired of buying starter packs
  • This reminds me of music games. Too much useless plastic in the house.
  • A third necessary portal makes me a little angry. Dumb. I wonder if the Swap Force figures will work on it.
  • FYI a businesses number 1 goal is to make $$$$$$$$$.
  • Fuuuck this!! :)
  • £10 for 50 toys is £500 per family without even purchasing the game, I encourage parents to star getting.wise to.the way Activision.work, read up on guitar hero. If your kids want this kind of game go.buy Disney infinity, this will.not.stop, next October 100 figures will release and.slowly but surely more and.more expense.will.creep.in just to play a simple game such as this
