During a Twitch livestream of the recently released next-gen version of Rayman Legends, Ubisoft Montpellier has teased a piece of artwork taken from Beyond Good & Evil 2, depicting Jade, the heroine from the first game.
Michel Ancel shows the concept art at the 2:08 mark in the video, while the game's creator also talked about the status of Beyond Good & Evil 2. "Working on Rayman Legends was a nice holiday," Ancel jokes. "We're going to make serious games [now], man. And Beyond Good & Evil 2 would be a good candidate for a serious game..."
There's been work-in-progress concept art and footage popping up online, with the game taking a backseat while Ubisoft Montpellier waited for new consoles to arrive; time it spent developing Rayman Origins and its follow-up Rayman Legends.
It's thought that the Beyond Good & Evil sequel could see players exploring the entirety of the first game's planet, Hillys, as well as other worlds.
"It was not the time when we worked on it before, it was too ambitious, honestly," Ancel told Eurogamer. "And this is the game that we want to do at the right time. So now that we have the right team and the right tools, this would be a good time to do it."
Fingers crossed for more on Beyond Good & Evil 2 sooner rather than later, but this is at least a positive sign that it's still very much on Ubisoft Montpellier's radar.
