Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Trademark Registered by Square Enix

Square Enix has registered a trademark (via AGB) for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided in Europe, covering video games, printed materials and online entertainment services. Could it be the next Deus Ex that we've all been waiting for? A proper full-fat Deus Ex title on next-gen consoles, perhaps?

The Mankind Divided trademark follows Eidos Montreal officially announcing that it's working on games as part of the series' 'Deus Ex: Universe' back in October 2013, described as "meaningful content that expands the franchise on a regular basis and to deliver a deep conspiracy that will span several connected Deus Ex games, creating a more immersive and richer experience than ever before."

It sounds like Deus Ex: Mankind Divided could be the title of the next proper Deus Ex title, following the events of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, although nothing has been officially announced regarding the registration or indeed the title and possible platforms. Conclusion? Watch this space.

  • I would love a new Deus Ex just not gonna get my hopes up until I see it....that mobile game looked cool but that wasn't what I was expecting.
  • Yes please. I swear if this is a sequel for the tablet game lol...
  • Deus ex human revolution was one of my fav games on last gen. So a new one for the ps4 is more than welcome.
  • Interesting...
  • Just fucken give it to us! I want this so much...
  • I will admit after disastrous Invisible War that followed one of the greatest games ever made (original Deus Ex), I was a bit skeptical about this new entry in the series, but I was wrong and I loved! I do hope they make another sequel and this time it's even better then the game before as opposed to being utter shit=)
  • Next gen Deus Ex.... not bad
  • I know the next generation is here and everything but I still can't help feeling a bit left behind, it's like I got invested in the storylines of certain games and know the respected companies are going "Want to have these storylines resolved? Want to see the next chapter for these characters? THEN BUY A PS4/XBOX ONE!"
  • @8 I actually feel the same as you I just feel that ps3 is dead and if I want to enjoy it just play my back catalog of games and what not, I'm currently playing more pc games right now because I don't have a ps4 not until December at Lear. As I always wait a year
  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution is one of my favorite video games. I really hope Eidos give us a sequel.
  • @8: Is this your first new console cycle? I don't mean to flame or troll, it's just always been like this since the SNES and Mega Drive/Genesis came out.
  • @8 well although I would love the next itteration to be on the PS4 there is no mention of it, so I wouldn't worry to much. Also there's plenty of life in the PS3-generation and there will be for several years comming. There's also the chance they might doubledip like they did with Thief.
  • @12: I hope the don't, tbh. I'd rather they concentrate on the new machines exclusively with new games.
  • @13 ??? They just need to downgrade the graphics, not that match of a big deal. I hope they just release it on old and new consoles. Because Square wants to sell a lot you never know what they might do if they haven't reach there desired mark.
  • A new Deus Ex on the PS4 would be really sweet. Can't wait!:)
  • @14 In case you never noticed in the last... I dunno 8 years, the hardware architecture of the PS3 is radically different from other system and it's quite hard to code for it. If you create a game for PS4, porting it to PS3 it is NOT only a matter of downscaling the graphics.
  • @14: Like DocDoomII, it's not just a matter of pressing a button and export the art assets in a lower resolution. They need and engine that runs smoothly on all the different systems. They need to build their 3D models and levels in a way so it runs on all systems. They need to program the AI in a way so older consolers don't run out of CPU power. And on top of all that they need to test all different versions. Sorry, but no, it is a big deal if you want the games to look and feel the best they can on newer systems.
  • @16, 17 Completley frogot about that. *DOH* But I do think they are gonna release it for the PS3 as well. Not everyone has ore want a new console.
  • GET HYPE. *releases for iOS only* ...
  • Dexus HR was a amazing game. Can't wait to see what they will do next.
  • Sweet. I thoroughly enjoyed DE:HR. Everything Thief unfortunately didn't turn out to be.
  • I hope a proper Deus Ex comes out not a ported mobile game. The Fall was a joke of a port.
