That's a nice setting. can't remember if they ever used that part of the world before in a game. riding elephants is new too in gaming, right?Friday, March 21, 2014 @ 02:32 PM
@1 I don't think I've ever ridden an elephant in a game before ... People with obscure gaming knowledge! Help us out here! :DFriday, March 21, 2014 @ 02:37 PM
Seems like a great setting for FC4. Riding elephants sound good too. :DFriday, March 21, 2014 @ 02:40 PM
Nope, cannot think of any other game where you can ride elephants. Maybe jump on them in something like The Lion King, but that's about it.Friday, March 21, 2014 @ 02:42 PM
WoW had Elleks, they're kind of Elephants, right, right?Friday, March 21, 2014 @ 02:46 PM
Wasn't part of Uncharted 2 set in the Himalayas? Still it's a fresh setting i can't wait to see. Can't think of a game where you can ride an elephant either though. The real question though is, can you hunt these elephants! ;)Friday, March 21, 2014 @ 02:47 PM
They said they wanted to do a snowy place after Far Cry 3, but I think Antarctica was mentioned...but this is a much better and varied location!Friday, March 21, 2014 @ 02:56 PM
This isnt new i remember jumpin on elephants in sly 2 haha.Friday, March 21, 2014 @ 03:05 PM
I remember jumping on elephants in Dynasty Warriors... 4? on the PS2. Don't know about anything earlier.Friday, March 21, 2014 @ 03:05 PM
There was a Mammoth mount in Age Of Conan. This sounds sweet. Maybe some Siberian Tigers or Wolves hunt you? Would be cool to have a hide in the snow feature to avoid capture or something like that. Maybe have a cave as a home base. Build an igloo to bone a villager in? I hope they at-least have a skiing feature. Maybe this will finally get me to move to PS4.Friday, March 21, 2014 @ 03:33 PM
You can ride a gun-toting elephant in Metal Slug 3.Friday, March 21, 2014 @ 03:48 PM
@9 YES! I knew there were elephants in DW somewhere.Friday, March 21, 2014 @ 03:51 PM
@6 @1 Uncharted 2 took place in the Himalayas during a part of the game. It was a completely stunning environment. If they make this game's atmosphere half as good as UC2 I will probably buy this early on. Btw the villages that you visited on the mountains were also so amazing. I cant wait to see more of thisFriday, March 21, 2014 @ 03:57 PM
Sweet! I love it when they take something and flip it on its head. It keeps the series fresh and interesting. I am really excited for the snow effects on the PS4... It's going to be beautiful.Friday, March 21, 2014 @ 04:25 PM
I just hope it's PS4/Xbox One only, when games also get a PS3/Xbox 360 release the next gen versions graphics are toned down.Friday, March 21, 2014 @ 05:02 PM
So it's just Elephant Riding Simulator with guns? Pass.Friday, March 21, 2014 @ 05:40 PM
nice! can't wait to hunt the snowman :DFriday, March 21, 2014 @ 06:08 PM
Mountable elephants = instabuyFriday, March 21, 2014 @ 06:20 PM
You can also ride elephants in Disney Infinity.Friday, March 21, 2014 @ 06:35 PM
Lets hope you get a climbing hook to climb and use as a weapon for up close attacks and the ability to actually climb up rocks that a human could do in rear life and not have to jump jump jump for 10mins to finally get upFriday, March 21, 2014 @ 06:51 PM

Absolutely thrilled for this game! They did a fantastic job with Far Cry 3, let's hope they achieve the same level of greatness with Far Cry 4.Friday, March 21, 2014 @ 09:36 PM
Only thing I want is a better story, but fuck it ill still pick it up on day 1 :)Friday, March 21, 2014 @ 09:54 PM
Elephants in a cold environment dosen't sound legit but a mammoth would be cool.Saturday, March 22, 2014 @ 05:15 AM
Indeed, mammoths are totally legit as they've been extinct for epochs. I jest #25. Anyway, as for ridable elephants, Donkey Kong Country 3 for the SNES in 1996 had them, and a whole world devoted to snow levels set in the mountains. I may be getting slowly burnt out on games but it seems no idea in gaming is truly original anymore. That said, FC3/Blood Dragon were awesome and did bring something refreshing to gaming. I'll contradict myself re: my previous remark about originality, I don't recall ever setting a pot field ablaze with a flame thrower in any game haha. Hoping this will be as bat shit bonkers as the previous.Saturday, March 22, 2014 @ 06:52 AM
@ #26 grand theft auto san andreas, one of the hippy missions.. choice ;-)Thursday, March 27, 2014 @ 12:59 AM
Sweet can't wait!

According to reports, Far Cry 4 will be set in the Himalyas and heading for a big reveal at E3 2014 this June, with a launch potentially scheduled for fiscal year 2015 (sometime before the end of March 2015). What's more, it'll apparently feature elephants that you can ride. Huzzah!
Something of a departure for the series, which normally sees players visiting hot climates like tropical jungles and dusty, malaria-ridden plains, Far Cry 4 will take the franchise into snowy mountain peaks with elephant back rides among a range of new features.
This is all according to reports originating on Eurogamer, gleaned from inside sources close to the project. Far Cry 4's gameplay remains similar to that of Far Cry 3, which it's speculated would mean more hunting with the world's map also laid out in a similar structure. There'll reportedly even be outposts to liberate once again.
We'll find out more - like whether all of this actually proves to be legit - at E3 2014, where no doubt Ubisoft will also be showing The Division, The Crew, the rumoured Assassin's Creed: Unity and more. Hopefully, we'll see Far Cry 4 there too, presumably for PS4 and Xbox One.
