Epic has released another trailer showcasing its proprietary Unreal Engine 4 technology, demonstrating some of the visual effects that the tech will presumably bring to games on PlayStation 4. In this latest video, you'll see realistic sparks, lighting, water and atmospheric effects.

Featuring Senior FX Artist Tim Elek and Developer Support member Zak Parrish, the video takes you through Epic's 'Infiltrator' tech demo, showing you how various visual effects are achievable using UE4, including realistic water splashing and a blend of particle systems to create mist and haze.

It's all immensely impressive stuff, and offers a glimpse into what can hopefully be done on the new crop of consoles. Check out the new Inside Unreal video below to find out more.

  • Ok new Unreal ore Unreal Tournament game please.
  • I want unreal tournament 4, sick of playing cod. Can't believe there's only been 1 unreal tournament & 1 quake since the ps3 came out, and quake wars wasn't any good like quake arena was on ps2. Please make unreal tournament 4, with no driving, flying ect...ect... Just want a good fast paced run & gun shooter.
  • Definately a new UrT. I'd still play the first one if I could be arsed to install it on my computer.
  • Oh, and the engine looks great (I guess?). And considering what I think I heard previously that it'll be a lot easier to construct games using it, I can see a bright future ahead, and a step closer to when indie-developers will be able to make AAA-looking games (if they so choose).
  • JUST FIX THE TEXTURE POP IN and ill be happy.
  • @4 It was always easy with the unreal engine, one of the reasons it was so popular. The ps3 architecture was just all over the place and it was pretty much the only device that didn't play with the engine well. Sony's fault, not epic's.
