Vin Diesel Getting the Gang Back Together for New Chronicles of Riddick Game

Tigon Studios is working on a new Chronicles of Riddick game, according to deep-voiced muscle man Vin Diesel.

The baddie baldie actor told Screencrush last week that he had got the old Escape From Butcher Bay team back together for a third game in the surprisingly good series.

"My diehard gamers want Tigon to deliver the third chapter in the Riddick game," growled Diesel. "And we just, over the past couple of months, just this year, reassembled that team from Starbreeze that brought Escape from Butcher Bay, to create the third game."

It’s not the first time Vin Diesel has discussed Riddick’s return to video games. Back in July, the Dungeons & Dragons playing nerd hard man said, "For all the game lovers out there, we're reassembling the team that made Escape From Butcher Bay.

“So we got our guys in Sweden that were part of Starbreeze and we're pulling them back together to make the next Riddick game that we're really excited about."

As for gameplay details, Vin Diesel did share some info, adding "There's this huge concept which is more of a MMO game that would be centered around people being able to play mercs and it's basically the merc trade. There's a very cool game concept behind that."

Originally released on PC and the first Xbox back in 2004, and subsequently enhanced and expanded with Assault on Dark Athena for current-gen systems in 2009, Escape from Butcher Bay is the nuts.

Look hard enough and you could probably find it in a bargain bin somewhere for pennies. If you haven’t played it already, it’s highly recommended.

  • Excellent, excellent news. Like Lee says, Butcher Bay is absolutely glorious. And Dark Athena was pretty swell, too. However, if you want the plat, prepare yourself. As one of the few who have the plat I can assure you that you are gonna need to pack a lunch (or 40). ; )
  • 1 fuck was given.
  • Fantastic news, loved EFBB on xbox, still have not got around to buying and playing Dark Athena yet ( i should really pick up a copy from ebay). However when i play a Riddick game i want to actually play as Riddick, not a merc that will get killed in 2 seconds, its still an interesting idea.
  • I'd like the story to pick up after Riddick.
  • Great news. I really enjoyed butcher bay and Assault on Dark Athena. Will be greeting this game with open arms.
  • The Athena version is on my playlist. I will keep an ear out for this should Butcher & Athena satisfy my wants.
  • I'm happy to hear about this. Starbreeze was an amazing developer. I love the Riddick games and the Darkness 1! I will be keeping my eye on this.
  • I was very happy with both Riddick games (even though the second one was more like an expansion) and loved Darkness 1 (2 is horrible)
  • Just got butcher bay and dark Athena off eBay for ps3 for £5, bargain.
  • @9 Assault on Dark Athena includes both games. @3 The EFBB remake happened as they couldn't make it backward compatible on xbox 360. So a remake was done instead. There is a EFBB commentary mode you can download.
  • That reminds me, I do need to play Assault on Dark Athena campaign. Finished EFBB long ago, but hardly anyone is playing the MP. A new Riddick game would be nice.
  • It took way too long for the movie to be made sadly but it is great to see it and a game based on it I'm sure is going to be great with how much Vin loves the character. I just hope we see alot more Riddick in both movies and games.
  • Like one said, the first game was one hell of a grind online... Will they be going the same route with this sequel? Sometimes I wonder if game developers want to really sell games - you know like profit for a return on investment... ... or is it ego tripping in trying to create the "rarest" of all trophies and present the most difficult to attain? They say the console game industry is "struggling" and the mobile game market is helping to kill it... obviously mobile games are fun and simple. Reason why they appeal so much to a lot of folks. A game developer will not survive and make a profit if they cater to the "elite" few... it just doesn't make business sense... just ego-alpha-male tripping IMO...
  • I totally enjoyed playing butcher's bay. I hope this one would be the best in the series.
  • Best news of the year so far!
  • Amazing news! I'm a huge Riddick / Vin Diesel fan so this is awesome. Both games were excellent. Can't wait!
