Konami: What Do You Want From a Metal Gear Rising Sequel?

Konami is conducting some research regarding a potential Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance sequel, with a survey available for fans to complete in order to provide some feedback on what they'd like to see from a follow-up to Raiden's bloody hack-happy adventure.

You can take part in the survey here, which Konami reckons should take around 20 minutes to complete. It asks questions about whether you'd want more stealth, more human drama, more Metal Gear Solid-style elements, more sci-fi, or other gameplay elements besides fighting.

It also wants to know if you want the game to be longer or if you'd prefer to hack humans into meaty chunks rather than cyborgs. It also asks if you'd like to cut more things up, whether you want more romance, humour, mystery or military stuff in the story, and also if you'd like online multiplayer.

The survey concludes by asking "If the sequel to Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance were available, do you think you would buy the game?" and "If the sequel to Metal Gear Rising were available, what would you expect from the game?"

We were rather fond of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, so the prospect of a sequel is most definitely welcome.

  • I really really didnt like this game. I could care less about it
  • so u cannot skip questions, B@#S#$% i just wasted 10 mins
  • Honestly I got the collectors edition when it came out and I still haven't played it yet so I don't want to criticise a game that I haven't played but I would have to say that I don't want a sequel. I would rather a full blown metal gear solid game with snake of course, just my opinion though.
  • make it longer.................that is all
  • I don't want a Metal Gear Rising sequel i'm sorry but the game was terrible it was fun and the soundtrack was awesome but i didn't enjoy it .
  • @2 - Uh, yes. You can skip questions by pressing "Continue". I didn't fill out several of the text box questions.
  • It wasn't a bad game but the story got really boring and the characters were all a joke. For some reason I didn't feel like Raiden was progressing like he should have been, he never got those badass moves most characters get when they level up. You pretty much parry, then attack your whole way through the game. Maybe if they focused on stealth a bit more it would help as well. DEADPOOL the game had better stealth mechanics than MGSR.
  • I didn't even play the first one especially after playing the demo. I'm not a fan of hack n' slash games I find them more frustrating than fun. If they are gonna make another Raiden game please set it during the time between MGS2 and MGS4 like what was originally planned for Rising.
  • I would love a sequel. 1st was bloody awesome. Only problem was its too short.
  • I didn't buy the first game, why would I buy a sequel? Drop Raiden and focus on making MGS5 as good as it can be.
  • More of the same, honestly. A few things needed fine tuning, but P* really hit the ball out of the park with Rising regarding gameplay, graphics and sheer awesomeness. MGR was short, sure, but it had loads of replay value. So, I can't fault it for that. With P* games, all I need is more of the same, 'cuz their games are just so damn good.
  • me and my friends would love to see a 2nd game as we played the shit out of rising. the reason people are moaning and bitching is either they can't parry and so class it as crap there is a thing called practice, the other is them going on bout it's not a real metal gear game really grow up and get layed once in your sad lives as it's been said a number of times it's a spin off like acid was not that it matters to normal people. for god sake you got 5 being made and you still go on.
  • Overall I was impressed with what Platinum could accomplish with the Metal Gear series, although Raiden's constant shift between personalities, especially in the codecs, left me scratching my head
  • @5 "it was fun... but i didn't enjoy it ." wat
  • if it will be like the first trailer, the MGS:R im in. the game looked so different then the game platinum made with the rather poor engine. game was good none the less
  • I *couldn't* care less #1...Anyway, the game was amazing and I'd scoop up a sequel instantly. Filled out the survey too!
  • Nothing. Just give us Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
  • Already did it. I hope that what I said will help the game very much.
  • A little more MG lore, a little more stealth, a little longer, a way better camera, and a final boss that is not the most moronic/idiotic/stupid character in the MGS world - and thats saying a lot!
  • Meh, obviously some things need fixed and i would consider it. For starters the camera,it was too short (could care less about replaying the same game/story 5+ times), and get rid of the auto save. Should be able to save when and where i want to, not when the game decides to do it for me even when i don't want it to. Other than that i liked the first one.
  • MG = Snake, isn't that simple to understand?
  • Longer more fleshed out story, better villains, larger more sandbox style stages, better stealth sections & options, more unlocks, more varied & detailed environments, maybe a few more guns to shoot, maybe a metal gear or 2 to pilot... but most importantly a better name! i'm sorry but 'revengeance' is wholesale abuse of the english language! seriously though this was a great game, when I finished it my first thoughts were 'this is the start of an amazing franchise, the sequel's going to be killer' Raiden has redeemed himself, welcome back Jack
  • @1 can't even use phrases correctly. It's "I couldn't care less" because saying 'I could care less' means you still care somewhat. Go read a book.
  • My god, Konami just give me new Zone of the Enders! I'm sick of milking the mgs franchise. Stopped caring after mediocre MGS4! What makes it worse new mgs phantom fucking 5 or whatever looks more like Red Dead Redemption than an actual mgs game :(
  • I would love a GRAY FOX story.
  • lol the o.g mgr is back.. well i hope they edit more sci-fi in it.
  • Better stealth mechanics!
  • I actually really liked this game, I just wish that it was longer than 2 hours of gameplay. I think it took me 7 hours on my first playthrough and 2 hours on my second while skipping cutscenes.
  • The game sucked. I played the demo and hated it. Let the down votes begin just like people down voted the 1st guy who replied to this article. People are allowed to voice there opinion.
  • I just did the survey. I had a lot of positive things to say about it along with my fair share of criticism. I'll admit, when I first played the demo, I hated it. When I played the actual game, I fell in love with it. I hope they make a follow up to Rising with improvements of the issues present in the first game.
  • @29 Yes and people are voicing their opinion about the comment. IMO I love this game. Only thing I want is a longer game :D
  • I think this article is for MGR fans... If you're not a fan why do you comment? (I know... beacuse haters gonna hate) Some people who commented this post doesn't even played the game... seriously, the question was "What Do You Want From a Metal Gear Rising Sequel?" Btw, the game was awesome but short so i think the sequel could be longer and more focused on better stealth mechanics.
  • I think the problem is everybody wanted the stealthiness feeling being that A) It's titled "Metal Gear" and B) It had the Raiden that everyone wanted to play ass, not the one in MGS2: SOL, even though I actually like that one more than the one in MGRR, down vote if you must but I am right.
  • a lot less stupid. then maybe I'd consider another Platinum game.
