Dragon Age: Inquisition (PS3)
Dragon Age Save Data Will "Absolutely" Transfer to Dragon Age: Inquisition

BioWare has confirmed that the decisions you made in previous Dragon Age games will come across to Dragon Age: Inquisition on next-generation consoles.

"We know what we want to do," BioWare Producer Cameron Lee told GameSpot Australia. "It will absolutely come across - your decisions carry [and] will matter." Lee couldn't be drawn on further details, but Writer Patrick Weekes added that "the goal is that you can have an equally rich experience no matter which platform you're playing on." Could this mean an interactive prologue for newcomers to the series?

Naturally, there'll be ties to Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II in Inquisition, as Community Manager Chris Priestly (who'll incidentally be leaving BioWare at the end of the month) elaborated. "There will absolutely be some ties to some of the previous games," he said. "Maybe some of the books or that sort of thing that you'll recognise if you've played the previous games, but they're not going to be reliant on the previous games." Instead the previous Dragon age games will be touchstones within Inquisition's world.

Furthermore, BioWare wants to bring back more of the tactical decisions from Dragon Age: Origins and do away with the recycled assets from Dragon Age II, while improving upon the dialogue exchanges and the way in which conversations are delivered, with a voiced protagonist like DAII's Hawke or Mass Effect's Shepard.

It all sounds rather promising. Dragon Age: Inquisition will be coming to PlayStation 4 in autumn 2014.

I'm playing Dragom Age II right now and liking it more than I thought I would. That said I do miss the combat strategies of DA:O. Hopefully Inquisition will be a merger of the best features from both games.

Still have hope for DA3 but these are the same overhyped promise's they made with MA2/3 that meant jack all in the end.

From DA:O to DA2 almost nothing was influenced, so don't expect wonders for the third chapter.

as someone who platinumed dragon age origins and dragon age 2 over the course of multiple playthroughs with different characters I think this is dumb. I dont want to have to investigate what I did on which save files and try to remember how I made choices. I want a fresh experience that leaves behind the decissions of past games. I'd prefer to not have to worry about something I did years ago... That said I think everyone gives mass effect 3 too much shit for what they did. Like it or not your story WAS influenced by previous games. if you expected them to have hundreds of different endings that call out all your choices you were going to be dissapointed no matter what they did. If you didnt like the ending thats fine but this endless bitching is a joke. get over yourself, they made a trilogy, you can like it or dislike it. but they owe you nothing, they made the trilogy they wanted to make and im dissapointed they gave in at all to the mob and changed the endings slightly. an artistic vision shoudnt be compromised by the angry mob the internet has become, its bad for the games industry and creative works in general.

Hopefully DA3 is an actual sequel, unlike DA2 which was just a story that happened in the same land with different characters.

you'll be able to carry over your FIFA 14 UT progress across both gens as well so it seems like this is a great feature in the PS4 in general.

Thats cool, glad I banged Anders and said fuck you to the templars, so can't wait for the game as long as they make sure not to do the reusing the map thing ever again.

@6 that is true, but did have some nice cameos and call backs when characters that knew each other met, so not super important, but still fun. Though with the war going on this time might have more of a impact.

@2 mass effect 3 has choices from two full games amounting to thousends of differant permutations.
apart from the end i think me1 and 2 impact the game quite abit, from a game making point of view it must have been a nightmare.

@15 i understand that, but my choices only added up to three freakinf colours on the characters... after all the decisions i made i was right in hoping for more... and the extra ending does NOT COUNT, they only did in response to fan outrage...

if you make a trillogy stating your DIRECTLY in control of events, you make the those events MATTER, you do NOT shit on your fans like they did...

on a less negative note, i dont think BioWare would make this mistake again, and i feel EA (Evil Associated) were responsible for ME£'s horrid ending, reason being they probably pressured BioWare for a speedy release...

EA kill almost EVERY company they work with... JUST DIE YOU BASTARDS!! and leave these great games companies alone!

@16 its people like you who make all gamers look bad. you enjoyed 3 games from what I understand that someone made. you chose to buy them, because you didnt like the ending you go on bitching like a little crybaby. yes ea gave into the fan outrage because assholes like you threatened the lives of their employees! choices you made in the games were reflected in the game, although no. not the very end of the game. is that really worth hating the people who made games you love? go ahead and down vote my rational opinion you only prove to me how immature you and your like are by spouting off about how unjust this is. guess what guys its games, didnt like them? stop buying them then, problem solved. or be an irrational lynch mob and vote ea the worst company in america again. because apparently the biggest issue in america is a bunch of butt hurt losers didnt like the end of a video game.

What does it matter if it imports? Origins imported into DA2 yet DA2 still went and did a bunch of things that retconned/ignored your decisions, defeating the point of importing. You can kill a bunch of people in Origins/Awakening but they just pop back up alive again in DA2 because Bioware wanted some fanservice.

Killed Liliana - Tough they wanted her in DA2 ending.
Killed Zevran - Tough they wanted a cameo.
Killed Anders - Tough they wanted him to stir up trouble.

Nowhere near the quality of the Mass Effect imports. Whoever you Virmired stays dead.

@17, my problem is fool, why give us so many choices if they dont make any differance? surely even you can see that, three games, full of choices, in the end only three make a differacne, and one of those will only unlock under specific requirements (none of which factor in the decessions you make across all three games)

and saying "asshole like me" shut it, you know nothing, i was happy with the game overall, but im ALOWED to voice my own oppion you simple minded idiot.

EA have killed several companies, they get hold of a copmany then drain it dry till its dead.

Mass Effect 1: brilliant roleplaying shooter. no EA, perfect game.
Mass Effect 2: OH MY GOD! WHERES MY RPG GONE?! EA got involved right here.
Mass Effect 3: "we listened to EA and went back to what WE started with..."

I can't wait for this game. Hope they combine the aspects of the two games and make one awesome one. Loved the combat system in the first one, but not in the second one. Hated the dialogue in first one liked it in second one.

The carry-over options from DA:O to DA2 might've been shallow ones that didn't didn't affect the games in the same way that Mass Effect did, but knowing that MY DA:O had happened in DA2 made the weak game feel better. It made the world feel consistent. It felt good to see King Alistair show up, mention his wife and reveal who's wearing the pants in that relationship; it probably wouldn't have felt near as good if Bioware had just ignored the choices and decided that nothing you did in Origins would affect the sequel.

If carry-overs had been impossible from DA2 to DA3, I probably wouldn't have even bothered with the third game.

@20 i think your hatred for EA is getting in the way of things here. mass effects choices do have impact
Wrex,Rannoch and the whole suicide mission are just three to point out.
if you had problems with mass effect its bioware you should point the finger at if atall

@5

Mass Effect has worked as "choices affect the journey, not the destination". I mean this game sold 4.7 million copies. If you expected Bioware to make 4.7 million endings for each individual Shepard, well, then you have completely unrealistic expectations of this game.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4B_MkzXMMk&t=7m28s

"Game choices from ME1 & ME2 affect the war in Mass Effect 3"

http://www.ea.com/uk/mass-effect-3

"Mass Effect 3 plunges you into an all-out galactic war to take Earth back from a nearly unstoppable foe – and how you fight that war is entirely up to you."

Mass Effect 3 is a galactic war. Game choices affect the war. Therefore, the entire game is the end of the trilogy.

"Mass Effect 3 will react to each decision you make as you play through a truly unique experience of your own creation."

Not:

"Last 5 minutes of Mass Effect 3 will react to each decision you make as you play through a truly unique ending of your own creation."

http://twitter.com/JessicaMerizan/status/180135137944670208

^ The whole game is the ending, and you do see many previous choices pay off during the course of the game. Least I did. Bioware didn't lie to you.

"Experience the beginning, middle, and end of an emotional story unlike any other, where the decisions you make completely shape your experience and outcome."

If people thought that Mass Effect 3 was the beginning, middle, and end of Shepard's story, and the last 5 minutes plays out differently for everyone, they probably didn't play Mass Effect 1 & 2.

Mass Effect 1=Beginning of the trilogy
Mass Effect 2=Middle of the trilogy
Mass Effect 3=End of the trilogy, which does play out differently for everyone. No, not the last 5 minutes, but the entire game does play out differently. That's what they advertised, and that's what we got. I don't see the issue here.
