The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Trophies
Oblivion Walker
Collect 15 Daedric Artifacts

(Missable and Glitched) Daedra within the Elder Scrolls series basically means divine and powerful beings. For the most part these beings and their actions are evil, so in getting 15 Daedric artefacts, the chances are you're going to have to destroy plenty of evil spirits along the way. Some of the Daedric artefacts come from shrine missions, where you must interact with the spirit of the shrine and perform some crazy ol’ quest for them and others you’ll come across in Skyrim. In return, you get a Daedric artefact.

The truth is, these shrine missions are some of the best missions in the game so this won’t seem like that much of a chore and they take you to some interesting and wonderful places. Enjoy these! They are listed in the next post.

Why is this missable? Well, you can't miss any of the quests, but the decisions that you make within each quest can make you miss out on an artifact.

Warning: Several of the quests can potentially glitch on you, in particular the Skull of Corruption if you let the mage enter the tower before you. Make saves often, before each quest for example so that if something glitches on you, there won't be as much backtracking. The trophy itself is also extremely glitchy and may not pop when it's supposed to, see here for help if things go wrong: LINK

Update: The latest patch makes it so that Savior's Hide and the Ring of Hircine do not count for two artifacts, only once, even if you get both. Thanks to Cold Fusion for confirming.

  • Mace of Molag Bal – House of Horrors quest in Markarth – As you walk past the abandoned house when you’re in the city – not the first time – someone will ask you to accompany them inside. Finish the quest (including finding the priest of Boethiah) and follow it through to the end to grab a Daedric artefact.
  • Dawnbreaker - The Break of Dawn quest, received at Statue to Merida – west of Solitude. It’s basically a fetch, return and dungeon crawl mission. Complete it for the Daedric artefact.
  • Spellbreaker - The Only Cure quest, received at the Shrine to Peryite, which can be found on the top of the mountain in between Markarth and Solitude. It’s worth activating early so you can keep an eye open for the goods on the shopping list. The actual quest itself is long and tough, so don’t tackle below a level 20, at least.
  • Sanguine’s Rose – In the Vilemyr Inn in Ivarstead you’ll meet a chap called Sam Guevenne who will challenge you to a drinking competition which will initiate the “Night to Remember” quest. That is where I started the quest, but it is a radiant quest and it's starting point changes. It may be different for you. The only definite thing is that it starts at an inn/pub. Which inn changes. Challenge him and then embark on one of the most amusing quests of Skyrim. Your reward is the Sanguine’s Rose staff.
  • Azura's Star/The Black Star – If you head to Azura’s Shrine on the top of the big mountain, just south of Winterhold you can start “The Black Star” quest and eventually get The Black Star artefact or Azura's Star, depending on where you take the artefact.
  • Wabbajack – Wandering the streets of Solitude is a chap called Derevin who wants you to get a message to his master. This will trigger “The Mind of Madness” quest where you’ll have to go to the Pegasus Wing in the Blue Palace and search for him. Complete the quest and get the artefact. Stuck? Need assistance in this quest? See below.
    • Quick note: you might find the waking up Pelagius sequence rather tricky, so basically the solution is this: shoot Pelgius with Wabbajack, shoot wolf, shoot goat, shoot bandit, shoot Pelagius, shoot Hagraven, shoot Pelagius, shoot Flame Atronach, shoot dragon priest, done. The paranoia sequence, shoot the king. And finally, the mind sequence, grow Pelagius twice and then grow anger once (with the Wabbajack).
  • (Missable) Mehrunes’ Razor – Sometime in the game you’ll get a message from a courier to visit the museum in Dawnstar – visit it. Visit it even if you don’t and start the “Pieces of the Past” quest to get your hands on Mehrunes’ Razor, which will send you to three places in Skyrim to get the three pieces of the sword.? You must kill Silus at the end to get the artefact.
  • (Missable) Savior’s Hide – In Falkreath at the Falkreath Barracks (east of town), downstairs in the Falkreath jail you’ll find a chap called Sinding who will give you his cursed ring and thus starts the quest, “Ill Met by Moonlight.”
    • Again, like the rest, you must choose to kill or risk not getting the reward.
    • You cannot have the Ring of Hircine and Savior's Hide. You must kill Sinding instead of helping him. Thanks to jamby for the info.
    • It is possible to get both Savior's Hide and the Ring of Hircine and have them both count. You will have to kill the hunters and then go back and kill Sinding. Thanks to Rawra for confirming.
  • (Missable) Masque of Clavicus Vile – The first time you enter Falkreath through the front gate the guard will mention something about the blacksmith’s dog going missing. Speak to him and then go after the dog. When you meet the dog you’ll initiate the “A Daedra’s Best Friend” quest and head off to Haemar’s Shame at the south of the large mountain with High Hrothgar on it – east of Helgen – note: you have to follow the dog but he has terrible path finding, so you could just meet him there.
    • You’ll then set off to retrieve The Rueful Axe from Rimrock Burrow and return it.
    • NOTE: Do NOT kill Barbas with the axe when you return, give it back to Clavicus and get the Daedric masque.
  • Oghma Infinium – During the main quest you’ll meet Septimus Sigmus who will send you off to get an Elder Scrolls. During this quest he will start another quest called “Discearning the Transmundane” where you’ll have to take an imprint of the Elder Scroll on his Lexicon. Giving that to Septimus then opens up the next stage: harvesting blood of an Orc, Dark Elf, Wood Elf, High Elf and Falmer – honestly, do this quest as early as possible so you can grab the blood as you go along. Every time you can harvest some blood it will give you an option when you interact with their corpse (harvest blood or search body). Get all 5 and head back to Septimus’ outpost, north of Winterhold. If you’re curious where to find the Orc and Elf blood, loot bandit camps as they often roam around with them, for the Falmer, try Mzulft (southeast of Windhelm) on the first level, right near the door down to the Boilery – there is one lowly Falmer here.
    • NOTE: The Oghma Infinium is bloody ace and raises a lot of your certain skills (depending on what path you choose), use it late on for added effect! We even went one step further and broke it down for you...
    • Each path improves the levels listed next to them below by 5 levels. Depending on which you have higher ratings for depends on the best route to take:
      • Choosing the path of might increases: smithing, heavy armour, blocking, two-handed, one-handed, archery.
      • Choosing the path of shadows increases: light armour, sneaking, lock-picking, pick-pocketing, speech and alchemy.
      • Choosing the path of magic increases: illusion, destruction, conjuration, restoration, alteration and enchanting.
  • Ebony Mail – East of Windhelm you’ll find the Sacellum of Boethiah where you’ll find a cult and be able to initiate the quest, “Boethiah’s Calling.”
    • You’ll have to lead someone there and sacrifice them. All I did was head to Riften, went to the The Bee and Barb and enlisted the help of the mercenary (Marcurio) who sits downstairs, for 500 gold. Don’t just kill them though, instruct them to touch the beacon (“I need you to do something,” then click on the ‘pillar of sacrifice’) and then when they are trapped, then slay them. After that, complete the quest and retrieve the artefact. Simples.
  • (Missable) Skull of Corruption – If you head to the Windpeak Inn in Dawnstar you’ll see a bit of a situation arise with locals speaking to Erandur regarding some night terrors they’ve been having. Speak to Erandur and start the “Waking Nightmare” quest.
    • It’s a simple follow him, go here, go there trophy (note: the Dreamstride book is on the balcony area in the far corner) but at the end when you get the chance to kill Erandur whilst he’s performing the ritual, kill him and you’ll get the Skull of Corruption. If you don’t, he destroys it.
  • (Missable) Ring of Namira – In Markarth, in the Understone Keep you’ll find a priest called Verulus who wants you to head into the Hall of the Dead to investigate what’s going on. The quest starts off as a miscellaneous objective and will soon turn into the quest, “The Taste of Death” once you’ve spoken to and agreed to help Eola in clearing Reachcliff Cave. There is a potential that you could say no to helping Eola… don’t!
    • In order to get the ring you have to kill Verulus as he lies on the table and then eat his flesh.
  • Volendrug – (apparently have to be at least a level 9 to start this quest) West of Riften (slightly south too) you’ll find an Orc camp called Largashblur. The camp itself will be being attacked by a giant, once it’s dead speak to Atub in the robes. Be careful not to hit the Orcs and anger them. You’ll have to go and fetch troll fat (there’s trolls nearby) and a Daedra heart (which could be tricky… you get it from a Daedra, not necessarily a prince, but a spirit; there are some Daedra inside the Shrine of Mehrunes’ Dagon if you’ve not already been in there). If not, you’ll have to buy one – we found one inside the Hall of Counternance/Attainment at the College of Winterhold. Enthir was selling them. You can also find both in Kodlak's room at Jorrvaskr in Whiterun.
    • Get the ingredients, head back, complete the short quest and kabblamo, Volendrug is yours. Yamarz will take you to Followstone Cave if you’re interested and want to meet him there (it’s northeast of Riften). No messing this one up. Yes, you’ll be fighting a giant or two too! Once you put the weapon on the shrine at the end, don’t forget to pick it up off the top of where the skull once was!
  • Ebony Blade – In order to start this quest you need to be a level 20 and have completed the main “Dragon Rising” quest. Also, if you choose the Stormcloaks in the civil war storyline, it doesn’t matter, you just have to find the old Jarl. He's in the basement of the Blue Palace in Solitude (interestingly, his son is still in Dragonsreach). To start this one, ask the bartender in the Bannered Mare in Whiterun about rumours, then go see the Jarl (where depends on which side you chose) and activate “The Whispering Door” quest.
    • You’ll need the key to open the whispering door to get the Ebony Blade; the best way: pickpocket it from the Yarl or Forengar (you can kill him and get the key but you can’t buy spells off him then).

Is indeed missable, as I found out yesterday. I chose to be good on one of the quests and not kill someone in cold blood, which earned me ... having to restart the game at some point, with another char. Just to do the Daedric quests all over again.

I really didn't want to play the game sticking to a guide, but there's the trade-off. So being good doesn't always work out.

yea i just found it out to, the orc that gives the 1 quest is dead so can't get the quest now, they really should of thought it through before putting quest givers in danger, im hoping the key counts to the 15 artifacts, whick would make 16 in total to find, i know the quest you mean, theres more which require being evil lol, guess it makes sense since most daedra are evil

Sold some artifacts and still got the Trophie so that shouldnt be a problem. One actually vanishes anyway when you use it.

@17 - This is a great game, and for the price will give most players MANY hours of enjoyment. If you are planning on playing this game purely for the trophies, then yes - it is a HUGE buggy mess... but the game, the story, the ability to do anything to anyone (except kill children) is what makes this game a must buy and tons of fun.

You have to let Barbas live. The mask of Clavicus Vile is the daedric artifact, not the axe. One of my buddies didn't get the trophy because of that quest.

On ps3 for the boethia sacrifice, if your acolyte do not obey your order to use the shrine of sacrifice, just change in the config the activation button for another (square works fine)

Looks like the Rose of Sanguine is missable, for me at least. It won't make me black out after drinking, it just completes the quest, and Sam just asks if he owes me money or something. And of course I have all the others, and can't get a platinum through no fault of my own. Hooray for Bethesda!

Here's one

The shrine to Peryite, Kesha the clean or what ever the f%#*k his name is, is dead, somehow, he's on the floor, I can loot his body, and I have no idea how he's dead. The real kicker? His khajit tail is still wagging, so it must be alive. What a messed up game. Still love it though.

Has this happened to anyone else?

stupid mistake ealry on, choose rueful axe or whatever it is and screwed myself 100+ hours later *sigh* have to start from scratch now. also i know for a fact that the skeleton key does NOT count towards this or i would have this trophy and my platinum in this game. there is a way to get the cursed ring and saviours hide, help the guy with the ring kill all the hunters then afterwards he gives the ring to you, then kill and skin him and you get saiviours hide. i myself missed the chance to do this because i did not know about so it is untested by myself but i have heard that it works. good luck

I can guarantee the skeleton key does not count... even though in the offical guide book it says it does. I was very careful and got 15 - but I did not get both the werewolf ring & armor. My trophy popped after finishing 15th daedra quest (not counting thieves quest stuff which i had finished)

There are 16 Daedric artifacts,
The ring of Hircine is also countable as a Daedric Artifact.
I achieved the trophy without having the Daedric Artifact : ''Spellbreaker''

Someone had problems with Ebony Mail , It's not missable. You simply need to kill the champion , take off his armor (the ebony mail) and finally wear it. Then Boethiah will speak again to you and the quest is completed.

"the sacellum of boethia..there is no colt there. just burnt bodies everywhere. Any suggestions?"

First, see if you can find a priestess of boethiah anywhere near the shrine. She has to give the blade of sacrifice to start the quest. Then you have to sacrifice one of your followers. My suggestion would be to kill one of the Dark Brotherhood initiates you get to follow you.

Is it possible to do this on multiple save files? I have done 5 new games for this trophy and I always seem to mess it up at some point, first time I'd read the oghma infinium, second time, I was a to low level so oghma infinium glitched, third time azura's star glitched and didn't take me to the star, but I tought I might've just been a to low level, so I kepth playing and than it appeared that it glitched..., fourth time Lod died and fifth time I killed Barbas, so I had the ruefull axe, which I tought was a daedric artifact, so I kepth playing and completed all daedric quests, is it possible to start a new save file and only complete this quest?

The quest where you have to find Sinding, you can double cross Sinding to get two relics in one quest and also, if you kill Barbas, your reward doesn't count towards this trophy

Im currently using the guide for the Daedric artifacts, for anyone who is going for the EBONY MAIL, and go to the location and there is only burning bodies, YOU HAVE TO BE LEVEL 30 and above to activate this quest.

With the last update I couldn't get this one to pop with my last mission as ill met by moonlight. The ring did not count so I went back and got the Saviors Hide. So I'd like to confirm that the ring does no longer count as an artifact you must get the hide.

Okay, so I have all the following items, in my inventory, right now:

Dawnbreaker [Epic]
Ebony Blade
Mace of Molag Bal [Flawless]
Mehrunes' Razor [Flawless]
Sanguine Rose
Skull of Corruption
Volendrung [Legendary]
Ebony Mail
Masque of Clavicus Vile
Ring of Namira
savior's Hide
Oghma Infinium
Azura's Star

That's 15, and my 'Quest' Section of General Stats says Daedric Quests Completed : 15.

Did I mess something up by Improving some of the artifacts? Is there something else I am missing? I don't understand this.

Spellbreaker should be listed as 'Missable'

There is an NPC by a twisted tree for one of these daedric quests. The tree has a mammoth head by it. There is an alchemy table nearby and an NPC standing by it. His name WAS "Kesh the Clean" and I think he was the only way to start this quest.

Problem with this game is, you can't tell who is friend or foe until you walk up to them. Then they either attack you or don't. Early on in the game, I couldn't tell so I sniped this NPC with my bow and killed him.

This Trophy is bugged on Legendary Edition and actually requires the player to trick the game by getting both rewards from Hircine. After getting all 15 (of the CORRECT artifacts), the trophy still didn't pop. I purposely saved Hircine for last. I reloaded and got both rewards. The Trophy did not pop until I got the 16th one. Bethesda sucks ass.

It took me making three different characters and doing all of the quests with all three of them in order to find out that the Trophy doesn't pop when it should. A huge damned waste of my time repeating things that I shouldn't not have had to. Bethesda sucks ass.

P.S. Bethesda sucks ass.

I hated doing about 70% of the missions because they had you be evil and murder people just to amuse demon scum, some of them where fun like the drunk one and the madness/hero from oblivion guy, but most was not a fan of.

I'm just happy that after I got the ring for killing and eating the one uy, it didn't void the trophy for killing everyone there.

Finally got the trophy and with it the Platinum, 3rd playthrough was the charm. Comment #82 was correct about the Legendary edition being bugged, even after obtaining all 15 artifacts (the correct ones) the trophy didn't pop in my 2nd play-through. If you're playing on the Legendary Edition of the game, you'll have to get Savior's Hide and Ring of Hircine, through the glitch, as well as the other 14 artifacts.

If you're doing a play-through just to get THIS trophy (because you missed it the first time) here are a few tips for a quick run-through: Progress the story regularly until Bleak Falls Barrow is given then do NOT progress it further until you've done all daedric quests aside from Mephala and Hircine (this prevents random dragons from spawning, and saves time); use the carriage in

Whiterun to get to the 9 holds the first time); once only Mephala and Hircine are left to complete you can progress the main story up to the completion of Dragon Rising (this will make Mephala's quest available), complete Mephala's quest, save the game, then do Hircine's quest and aim to get both Savior's Hide and Ring of Hircine, upon completion this trophy should pop.

There is a bug in the artifact counting when the Dawnguard Add-On is installed:
According to a member of bethsoft forums, the Masque of Clavicus Vile does not count as an artifact if the Dawnguard Add-On is installed.
See here:

So the only possible way to get this trophy with the Dawnguard Add-On installed is to collect both Saviour's Hide and Hircine's Ring.
I can confirm that this actually is the case. I'm playing the Legendary Edition on PS3 with all Add-Ons (incl. Dawnguard!) preinstalled. After collecting 15 artifacts (Azura's Star, Dawnbreaker, Ebony Blade, Ebony Mail, Mace of Molag Bal, Masque of Clavicus Vile, Mehrunes' Razor, Oghma Infinium, Ring of Namira, Sanguine Rose, Saviour's Hide, Skul

Skull of Corruption, Spellbreaker, Voldendrung & Wabbajack) I did not get the trophy. Unfortunately, I chose Savior's Hide and not Hircine's Ring in the first place, so I couldn't get both of them.
I had to give it another try. This time I got Hircine's Ring instead of Saviour's Hide. But I still didn't get the trophy. So I returned to Bloated Man's Grotto where Sinding was still hanging around, killed him and acquired Saviour's Hide. Then FINALLY the trophy popped!

(Note that Sinding is not always in the Bloated man's Grotto after completion of Hircine's Quest. Just search the internet for other known locations.)

I don't think I have ever been so infuriated by a trophy. Apologies for my ranting and swearing.

I don't mind that it took me long, what I DO MIND IS THAT ONE OF THE FUCKING ARTIFACTS IS GLITCHED IF HAVE THE DRAGONBORN DLC INSTALLED. So I got my 15 artifacts only to find out later, being confirmed by bethesda, that the masque of clavicus vile IS GLITCHED - i.e, DOESN'T COUNT. Meaning that you have to get the Saviours Hide and the Ring of Hircine, which is easy, but I already played through that and only got one of them.

So after all that work, and with no fucking save data reasonable to use to go back and fix this I AM LEFT TO REDO THIS FUCKING TROPHY on a new save data. Fuck right off.

^^^^ In my minute or so of rage, I should have checked that it is infact that it could also be the dawnguard dlc.

My point is people do not do the Daedric Artifacts willy-nilly, make them the last or first things you do.

To get this trophy if you have the DawnGuard DLC, I can now confirm that you HAVE to get both the ring of hircine and saviors hide.

I just got it without the masque of clavicus vile - so that confirms it. I don't think the description above of how to get it is correct where it states that the ring of hircine and saviors hide count as one, as for me it didn't.

So glad this is over with.

If you got the ring, and finished the quest, you can still find the werewolf (Sinding) 'CUS YOU LET HIM LIVE!!! Afer you find him and kill him, you still get the hide!!!
I found him in the same jail cell (Falkreath) where it all started - if you "visit" him and then go out of jail, he will go out too.
Afte a while, he will be in the Bloated Man's Grotto (cave).
What I did - visited him in jail, fast-traveled to cave (wasn't there), fast-traveled to Helegen (wasn't there, but may be) and returned (fast-traveled) to cave - BOOOOOOOM HE IS THERE, KILLED HIM, GOT THE HIDE, GOT THE TROPHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as I know, the bug of Masque of Clavicus Vile not counting only occurs if the Dawnguard DLC is installed. But I can't absolutely confirm it.
Savior's Hide can be acquired by killing Sinding the werewolf. Hircines ring is obtained by helping Sinding, i.e. killing the hunters. You can get both trophies by helping Sinding first, leaving the cave to get the Ring and then re-enter to kill him and take the Hide.

Before anyone tries to complete this trophy, it is glitched! Read all the forums before trying to complete this or you'll spend a week for nothing!
As far as I know, you have to collect 16 artifacts! In the quest with Sinding the werewolf you must exploit the game and acquire 2 artifacts.. Spare Sinding to acquire the ring, then come back later and kill Sinding, skin him and acquire the Saviour's Hide!
I failed to acquire this trophy and have lost all interest in Skyrim, hopefully you acquire this trophy, but you have been warned..
