Introduction:
Ricochet HD is a Breakout clone by Reflexive Entertainment that offers a highly stylised version of brick breaking. Unlike your traditional Breakout clones like Arkanoid or Alleyway, Ricochet is unique in that it offers a great variety of power-ups to pick up and ships to pilot across many very uniquely-designed levels in very atmospheric environments. The trophies for Ricochet HD range from the traditional "beat the game" trophies, to the obligatory collectable trophies (which come in the form of Gold Rings) and unique yet tedious trophies that have you completing 30 levels consecutively without dying. It is not an easy game to get 100% in and the glitches in four of the trophies certainly do not help with this fact.
Before you start - Glitched Trophies:
In its current state two trophies in Ricochet HD are horribly glitched i.e "World Cup" and "Co-op Cup", which are for finishing all 15 planets in general and in Cooperative mode, respectively. For some players these unlock as they should but in most cases, you won't unlock them upon finishing all the planets. Some players have reported them unlocking from doing all 15 planets a second time, whilst some have reported them unlocking upon getting all 750 Gold Rings for "Ring Trophy" whilst in Cooperative mode. Don't worry if these don't unlock when they should, as chances are they will unlock upon collecting all of the Gold Rings. If you're lucky like some players, one or both of the trophies will unlock upon replaying the last level. However, do be warned that in rare circumstances, this won't be the case. The only apparent fix from that point is to delete your Save Data and redo the whole thing in one sitting. A third trophy, in the form of "Power-up Zen Master", is also glitched but not nearly to the extent as the previous two. For this you have to complete more than 10 levels without picking up any power-ups, like it says in the description. The last glitched trophy, "Straight Jacket", is similar to the previous in that it may not unlock upon completing 10 levels on the same planet on Insane. It may take multiple attempts to actually register. You have been warned!
Step 1: Complete the game in Cooperative mode
First things first. You will want to start a game on Cooperative mode (cycle through modes with ) and set the difficulty to Kids, though you can do it on Normal and attempt to get "Longevity" and "Amazing Breath of Life" while doing the co-op run. You'll need a second controller to do this, but not necessarily a second player - you can simply move the second player to the side of the level and simply play solo. Keep in mind that for "Helping Hand", you must complete 20 levels in one session, so make sure you do at least 2 planets in one sitting. While doing this playthrough, make sure to collect as many Gold Rings as possible, if not all of them, to save yourself trouble later.
Upon completing Step 1, you should earn:
Co-op Cup
You may also earn:
Brick ShooterFrantic Juggler
Power Rush
Hoard of the Rings
Power-up Zen Master
Step 2: Complete 30 levels in a row without dying once
Next up is completing 30 levels without dying. Unlike in Step 1 this must be done on Normal difficulty or higher, so no Kids or Easy difficulty here. It counts as dying when all your balls enter the Out of Bounds zone below you, which will take away one Ion Sphere from your total. Luckily there is a good workaround for these trophies i.e Cooperative mode. Having a second player in the game sitting there without using its ball means that if you lose your ball, you won't lose a life. That way you can either use Player Two's ball and continue or simply restart the level, this way you don't have to start from scratch. It is recommended that for these trophies you do the first three planets: Morana, Barrakis and Europa.
Upon completing Step 2, you will earn:
Amazing Breath of Life
Step 3: Complete 10 levels on Insane difficulty
The same principle in Step 2 applies here. Use a second controller to have an extra ball, as that will offer you a safety net so to speak. This must be done on Insane difficulty, though you can die for this trophy - you just can't lose all your Ion Spheres and get a Game Over. The easiest planet for this trophy would be the second planet: Barrakis.
Upon completing Step 3, you will earn:
Step 4: Collect all Gold Rings/Clean up
Lastly, there's the clean up. If during the first few steps you managed to miss any Gold Rings or any of the miscellaneous trophies, then now is the time to get them.
Upon completing Step 4, you will earn:
If not earned during earlier steps, you will also earn:
Brick ShooterFrantic Juggler
Power Rush
Hoard of the Rings
Power-up Zen Master
