Unlike in R&C: All 4 One, it doesn't say 'Have XXX amount of bolts banked'. So I would assume that this one can be gotten over normal game play, just collect that many. Or at least I hope >>

The trophy image says 100k so I think it's safe to assume you only need to collect 100,000 bolts. And like zzamaro and BlazzingWind already said, you probably don't have to hold all of them at the same time, only at some point.

Guys, this trophy is not that hard... You guys don't know the old trick to get infinite bolts? So here it is: (I don't think if I can put here links, but it's ok, it's for you)
- you will need the hologuise to do this...
- when you were watching the video, the part where you earn the infinite bolts is at 2:57.
- keep doing this trick one afternoon, then you will have at least 500,000 for sure, and you will not have to press the circle button all the time, you can put the controller under something that is doing pressure.
(Sorry for my english)

good news and bad news:
THE BAD: you DO need 1 million bolts - i have 100,000 AT ONCE and it did not unlock, despite the optimistic feelings after spotting the '100k' image
THE GOOD: you CAN glitch it, NOT with the hologuise, that is patched now
you need to use the decoy glove to push through a wall then glide to the hoverboard track, still takes a while (roughly 19 hours) so leave it on overnight
see here for tutorial (not my video)
hope this helps

@12: I was going to post a comment just like that.
I really wonder what the guys at Insomniac Games have been smoking. Even if you cheat to get this trophy it still takes approximately 19 hours, otherwise you'd have to complete the game like 8 times to get that amount of bolts, and what do you get for all this work? A silver trophy? Seriously?

It's simplest just to play the game through four times (and then some). You'll get there eventually. Unfortunately this trophy reveals how bad the replayability is compared to all the R&C games that came later. On the plus side, it shows that Insomniac really improved the games as the series went on.
Still, extremely lame trophy and the responsible should be shot with a sheepinator.

@12 I've tried that glitch at least 20 times and every time Ratchet goes through a different wall to the one in the vid. Anyone else get that?
As for the trophy, well, I've calculated that in buying all Gold weapons and the RYNO I've spent 400,000 bolts, make that about 500,000 considering the normal weapons + ammo. I've played through the game 4 times, so my plan is to finish R&C 2, go back to 1, finish 3, go back to 1 and rinse & repeat. Hate this trophy, love the game.

PROBLEMS WITH THIS TROPHY:
1. THE HOLOGUISE METHOD ON RILGAR DOES NOT WORK - IT HAS BEEN PATCHED!
2. THIS IS A STUPIDLY LARGE AMOUNT OF BOLTS THAT INVITES GLITCHING!
3. EVEN USING ANOTHER METHOD TO GET ONTO THE HOVERBOARD TRACK, IT WILL STILL TAKE HOURS AND HOURS TO GET!
4. (The 100k image is also used for R&C 3's "10 million bolts" icon)
5. This trophy should not be silver as it is much harder than some of the golds if you do it properly, as the developers intended.
6. (The platinum icon is copied from All 4 One, showing a character that isn't even in the trilogy).

I can also confirm that the glitch does work (I you get pushed through the wrong wall it won't though, the ledge to walk around won't be accessible). I'm on my first challenge playthrough, BEFORE completing the hover board race I'm getting 10,000 every 5 minutes. So it'll take me maximum of 8 hours to get the 1,000,000 bolts :)

I worked out a list of costs for items, the gadgets and infobots are cost per playthrough:
100,000 standard weapons
250,000 gold weapons
Totals to 565,000 after challenge playthrough 1.
Don't forget you will probably have bought some/lots of ammo which isn't included in this.

24: Yes, restarting the game in challenge mode continues your bolt count (otherwise, it would be practically impossible).
It's not really that bad. After 2 play-throughs, I had the RYNO (150k) and all gold weapons (250k), which including purchase of weapons and ammo, is at least 500,000 spent. And, with the RYNO, each further playthrough is REALLY quick (maybe 4 hours real time?), and nets about 250,000 more - and that's just going the necessary paths (so skipping suck cannon, morph ray, raritanium etc.) - get the code bot, though!
It's a bit annoying, but far from the worst trophy I've seen.

in the track there is no way to make it come back if you live the area i tried many thinks like redo the race but nothing the boxes glitch out and the cant come back so if you are going to farm bolts by doing the glitch make sure that you get at least the bolt trophy and don't leave until you have the amount you need btw you can do the same think with any box on the track just position the camera in a way that you cant see the boxes and you can farm bolts if the boxes from the video are not there any more and have in mind that those boxes will go away too if you save and exit

so on 2nd playthrough did the glitch before the race and the trophy popped just after i got 600k so you don't need 1 million all in the bank at the same time so you can still spend the bolts.

You can do the glitch on more than just the boxes in the video, I also found out the hard way that if you leave after starting the boxes don't come back, so I tried on one of the two sets of 8 boxes just before you get to the spot in the video. As long as the boxes are off-screen they will continuously re-spawn, making the glitch still possible, takes a little longer though

I can confirm that you don't reset the bolt count if you manually save in the same slot and overwrite your old save; just don't save in a new slot entirely. Also, you can get ~110k in an hour if you do what's in the video before ever racing in your Challenge Mode run.

I just got this one on my second play-through. I was trying to find a method that was fast and didn't involve using the race track glitch. In the end it seems as if the race track glitch is the faster way(and you don't have to sit there) but grinding it didn't end up being as bad as I thought.
My strategy was to run through the levels that were easy, seemed to have a ton of enemies/boxes, and had a very fast circular route where I would not have to backtrack. The best two levels were the Logging Site ( avg. roughly 5-7k per run through) and the Fort(around 5k). Between the RHYNO and the Tesla Claw it was pretty quick bolt grabbing after zapping everything in my path. In the end my totals were 565k spent on weapons/required item purchases, 65k in ammo purchases, and 370k in the bank.

The 16 hour estimate (for the track glitch) on the trophy guide is complete crap. I started mine at about 11 last night, woke up at 8 and checked it, I was over 1,000,000 banked. So 9-10 hours would be a better estimate, and that's only if you're trying to get 1 million at once.
Whoever took 16 hours to do that must've been positioned wrong so they were only getting the smallest trickle of bolts.

You can do the track glitch more than once.
If the set in the video have disappeared, you can use any other set on the track, the only respawn when they aren't on screen.
Just make Ratchet face the boxes with the Taunter, and then make the camera face away from them, hold circle without moving the camera and the glitch will keep working. I messed up and had to do it this way.

I agree that the 16 hour estimate for using the glitch is way off as long as you position yourself correctly. I left my PS3 on overnight for about 11 hours and received around only 500K in bolts. I moved Ratchet to a better position in the morning and ended up earning an additional 600K in only two hours. If you are in the right position when doing the glitch you should get the million in no more than four hours even if you start with zero bolts.

Without too much grinding, every playthrough gives you around 150-170k, on my first one I had to replay a lot because I kept on dying and also had to do both Racetracks too many times to get the Skill Points, so I ended up with more than 220k. If you're planning on getting this trophy the hard way (without glitching) it will take you nearly 5 playthroughs, and honestly, I've never played a game so many times in a row, twice is enough for me (maybe later I'll come back), so I glitched 600k and completed the rest playing the second time. There's just so many games out there to play and my gaming time is limited, so grinding is not an option.

For anyone who's interested and still working towards this it took me 3.75 playthroughs to do. I didn't use any glitches or cheats, I don't really see the fun in that. By the time I had bought all of the gold weapons, RYNO, etc. I only needed about 380,000 bolts. If you ignore ammo and mandatory storyline purchases then you'll be 420,000 bolts away (I was about 40-45 thousand bolts off that calculation).
It's a very easy trophy to get, just enjoy playing through the game a few times, the more times you play through the easier it gets. Focus on buying Gold weapons, ESPECIALLY the Gold Tesla Claw (all I ever use). Hope this helps.

There are a number of ways; starting up the game and going all around every planet, going to Metropolis and flying down to where the gold bolt was below your ship and whacking passing ships with your wrench or doing the Giant Clank bit on that factory planet where he was made. I think the last way is best but to get 1 million from 0 it will take 10 hours. Make sure not to kill the little enemies on your way to the transformer so then you can kill them over and over again.

Okey a few points..
First of all about the glitch: If you do the hoverboard race before glitching, you will get half the amount of bolts/min.
As I missed the exact point of witch I got the Throphy, I can't confirm much.. But I started a challenge mode on a new save file with 600k bolts and rushed to Blackwater to glitch. Somewhere between 700k and 800k I got the trophy, there is no way I earned 1M bolts on that single savefile, so we can rule that out. Since I did this with my CM2 file and I already had a CM3 file, we can also rule out a joined counter for all saves.
The 3 possibilitys we are left with is:
1. The bolt counter transfers over to the new save when you start challange mode.
2. The bolt counter counts the values of a single save file. (Weapon values, current bolt coun

To #62: Very cool. Nice and even better method because it starts you further along the raceway AND there is no near blind jump to what you hope is the raceway, you can see it right below you. Nice job.
I started my glitch at 8:00PM and ended at 10:00 AM and had 1,655,000 bolts; WAY WAY over the required amount for the trophy. Since it happened in the middle of the night I can only assume that some kind of glitch happened. I read that it took 18 hours to get 1,000,000 but somehow with only 14 hours I managed to get 600,000 beyond that.
Go figure. So I'm guessing its more likely that 18 hours is a horrible miss judgement of time and its much more likely that 8-9 hours is how long it will really take.

Using just one save file and not performing any sorts of bolt glitches, it will take roughly 4.5 play-throughs to unlock this trophy.
With every replay, go through all extra missions, destroying most/all crates and defeating all enemies encountered. It unlocked for me with about 350,000 banked bolts as I was on the planet where you meet the military captain on my fifth playthrough.
