Section 02. Introduction

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is an off-shoot game from the Metal Gear series; instead of featuring one of the Snake characters, it focuses on Raiden after the events of Metal Gear Solid 4. With the change of character comes a change of gameplay and it requires patience and mastery to pull off.

Section 2.1 - What to know

This section will cover the various ways to make your road to platinum easier.

Cheat Code
Being a Konami game there is a code to use which unlocks all difficulties from the start. Without using this code you would have to clear the game at least 3 times to earn the platinum.

At the Press Start screen:     :left: :right: :left: :right: :circle: :cross:

Parry, Just-Defend, and Unblockables
A key action in this game is the parry, you activate the parry by pressing the towards the enemy who's attacking and pressing . This is your main defense and can only block one attack, if an enemy is doing a combo you will have to parry again after their strike.

If you activate your parry at the last possible moment before getting hit, you will activate a Just-Defend (also called Perfect Parry or Parry Counter). During a Just-Defend, Raiden will automatically follow up with a counter-attack. This gives Raiden invincibility frames and deals massive damage to enemies when playing on Revengeance Difficulty.

Some enemies have unblockable attacks, you cannot use parry or just-defend to protect yourself. You will have to avoid the enemy attack to mitigate damage. You can always anticipate an unblockable attack as the enemy will glow yellow during their telegraph.

Section 03. Walkthrough

While it is possible to get everything possible in one run through by using the cheat code, it is not advisable as Revengeance difficulty is very difficult to clear and you should use the lower difficulties to practice your skills. You will also need to play more than once to earn enough BP to unlock and power up your gear which can make Revengeance easier, as well as earn you a trophy. You earn BP in numerous ways, most of which are combat related. In ranked battles you earn BP based on your time, kills, combos, and zandatsu counts. You can also earn BP by collecting items you're currently full on and by clearing the mission. The two big trophies in this game are Stormbringer for finishing Revengeance Difficulty with all S-Ranks and Virtually Flawless for clearing all 20 VR Missions while beating the #1 place rank.

Section 3.1 - First Playthrough (Normal)
Whether you choose to use the code or not, I advise playing your first game on Normal. This will keep enemy damage low and will allow you to learn their attacks without having the auto-assist on. During this playthrough you should focus on earning all collectibles to get them out of the way and gain access to most of the unlockable gear. You should also work towards the mission specific trophies; Steel Tail, No Flash Photography!, Dwarf Raiden, Love at First Sight, A Walk in the Dark, Menace to Society, Great Escape, and Surprise Attack! Since this is your first playthrough I recommend taking it slow and working on Amateur Radio Operator as well. You may not get it on this playthrough, but it carries over and can be completed on subsequent playthroughs. You should also take notice of the one glitched trophy Tearing Away the Disguise, if you can't earn it this playthrough you can on subsequent playthroughs.

Section 3.2 - Second Playthrough (Hard)
After the credits and the game saves, do not select "New Game" on the main menu. To move to the next difficulty you can choose "Chapter" or "Continue." You should use this playthrough to get used to the increase in enemy aggressiveness as well as their increased attack power. You can also use this playthrough to pick up any collectibles you missed on the previous playthrough. As long as you've collected everything you'll have a majority of your unlockables available to you as well as earning a few more trophies. Since you are on Hard difficulty you can attempt to earn No Damage against the bosses; however, you'll need to have an immaculate run on Revengeance Difficulty so it's not a requirement for this run.

Section 3.4 - Final Playthrough (Revengeance)
After you clear the VR Missions you'll have access to all the gear that can make your Revengeance playthrough easier. You will either have played through Very Hard, or used the Konami Code to immediately unlock Revengeance. Optimize your gear and steel yourself because this difficulty is unrelenting and you will have to earn an S-Rank across all missions. Since this is your S Rank playthrough, you should focus on earning the boss specific trophies if you haven't already. Earning a No Damage Bonus sounds difficult, but with an understanding of the game mechanics and how the bosses work it's plenty manageable. If there's anything left after this go back and clean up.

VR Mission Expansion DLC:

Section 01. Overview
  • Estimated 100% difficulty: 7/10
  • Offline trophies: 2 (1, 1)
  • Online trophies: 0
  • Approximate amount of time to 100%: 4 - 10 Hours
  • Minimum number of playthroughs: 1+
  • Number of missable trophies: 0 - Mission Select is Available
  • Glitched trophies: 0
  • Do trophies stack: Yes
  • Does difficulty affect any trophies: No
  • Do cheat codes disable trophies: No
  • DLC Size: 243 Megabytes
  • DLC Cost: $2.49 / €2.49

Section 02. Introduction

The VR Mission Expansion is a throw back to the previous Metal Gear games, where there were a plethora of VR Missions to play with. While not as numerous as the past incarnations, these are in no way less difficult to manage. Much like the original 20 VR Missions in the main game, these have your stats and weapons severely limited to 100% Health, 1 Fuel Cell, and Unique Weapons, unless the mission specifies otherwise.

Section 2.1 - The Mission Types

A new feature to VR Missions in this DLC is the use of a Dwarf Gekko; its features are identical to the one Raiden used during the main game. While it is lower to the ground, it is also a lot less sturdy and plenty weaker. Many of the missions feature using the Dwarf Gekko so do not assume every mission will have you playing as Raiden.

Below is a description of the mission objectives and what they entail;

Control the Dwarf Gekko to the specified waypoint or Arrive at the specified waypoint.
This mission type is simply to get from one place to another. The mission objective will detail you playing as a Dwarf Gekko, otherwise you'll be playing as Raiden.

Arrive at the specified waypoint without being detected.
These are just like the above missions but with the caveat of not triggering an alert. These missions only feature Raiden so you'll have more mobility at your disposal when attempting these.

Incapacitate all cyborgs or Eliminate all enemies via Ninja Kill.
This is a stealth mission where you'll have to defeat all enemies without being detected. The way to differentiate between the Dwarf Gekko and Raiden is the Gekko can only incapacitate, whereas Raiden has the Ninja Kill. With either character the method is the same, get behind or above an unaware enemy and use the button to neutralize them.

Destroy all the targets.
This is a Raiden only type mission as the Dwarf Gekko lacks the ability to destroy enemies. As the mission objective says, simply destroy every enemy to clear the mission.

Eliminate all enemies using the supplied sub-weapon.
This is a Raiden only type mission as the Dwarf Gekko cannot use sub-weapons. As said you need to destroy all the enemies and while it may not sound that difficult some missions can be. Some missions have aggressive enemies attacking you but with your primary weapon sealed, you cannot parry or just-defend; so your only defense is to jump or run away from the enemies.

Eliminate all enemies via Zandatsu.
This is a Raiden only type mission as the Dwarf Gekko cannot Zandatsu. While this mission type sounds easy enough it can be one of the more frustrating mission types. This is due to the number of mines placed around the area and the enemy's ability to walk off the platforms; both are ways for the enemy to kill themselves. If they die from something other than a Zandatsu, you'll fail the mission.

Section 2.2 - The AI problem

There is a problem with the AI in this DLC which can make some missions extremely difficult. Many of the missions have a dark filter to simulate it being night time, for some reason many of the cyborgs get enhanced detection in these missions. The enhanced detection isn't stable as they only seem to detect you at random times, so be wary of the guards.

There is also a problem with enemies killing themselves. While this doesn't seem like much of a problem, it is when the mission calls for every enemy to die by a Zandatsu. In these VR Missions there are numerous mines in most of the missions that kill on contact. There are also no walls to hold you back from falling off platforms. Both of these can severely hinder your progress as enemies will routinely kill themselves and ruin your mission attempts.

As with falling there are also a few problems built into the DLC. Raiden can fall numerous times and it won't kill him, just waste time. While specific missions will allow enemies to fall and have you fail your mission, other missions will have invisible walls preventing the enemies from falling to their death. Whether this is a flaw or intentional isn't known, but it's a glaring problem when you're trying alternative combat methods.

Section 03. Walkthrough

Unlike the main game VR Missions, you do not have to find any VR Terminals in the game to have access to these missions. After downloading and installing the DLC, the VR Missions tab on the Main Menu should be red; identifying it as having the DLC available to play. Go into the VR Missions and scroll down past the original 20 Missions to reach the new 30. From here you can perform the missions in any order you want, so go ahead and choose. There are two ways to attempt this DLC so I will address both of them below. Just remember that you will have to earn 1st place marks in all 30 of the missions to earn the two trophies. You're free to play however you want, just stay focused and don't give up.

Section 3.1 - Play through, go back

This style of play is where you play the missions through, not concerning yourself with the time you originally set. You'll just want to feel how each mission is before deciding which ones to focus on. You're free to jump around and go as you wish. Playing like this can result in you taking longer to earn the trophies as you'll be dividing your efforts instead of building your skill in a specific mission. With this play style you're bound to earn DL-VR Master well before you earn Hero of the Metaverse. Either style is fine as long as you get both trophies in the end.

Section 3.2 - Play it until you get it

This style of play is where you play a single mission over and over until you earn top marks in that mission. Despite offering the faster acquisition of trophies, this play style can often result in raging or burnout, so if this is your style of play I recommend taking a break every now and then during your attempts. With this play style you'll probably earn DL-VR Master shortly before Hero of the Metaverse. Either style is fine as long as you get both trophies in the end.

Sam's Side Story DLC:

Section 01. Overview
  • Estimated Trophy Difficulty: 7.5
  • Offline Trophies: 4 (2, 1, 1)
  • Online Trophies: 0
  • Approximate time to 100%: 2 - 4+ Hours
  • Minimum Number of Playthroughs Needed: 1+ (Recommend 3)
  • Number of Missable Trophies: 1 - Master of the Wind
  • Glitched Trophies: None
  • Does difficulty affect trophies: Yes
  • Do cheat codes disable trophies: No
  • DLC Size: 2.5 Gigabytes
  • DLC Cost: $6.99 / €6.99

Section 02. Introduction

The Sam Side Story is a single mission dedicated to Jetstream Sam before he joined up with Desperado. While not entirely different from Raiden, Sam has several major differences from Raiden which help set him apart and helps give this DLC a different feel from the main game.

Section 2.1 - Lightning Ninja to Jetstream Samurai

The changes from Raiden to Sam are numerous, the drastic ones should be noted.

What Sam Has
Sam has a myriad of regular techniques Raiden has; Blade Mode, Zandatsu, Parry, Execute, Just-Defend, Aerial Parry, Aerial Combo, Sub-Weapons, and Command Dodge +.

What's New
Sam's one new noteworthy ability is his taunt; press to taunt enemies up to a certain range. This ability is useful but dangerous at the same time as it enrages enemies which increases their attack power but also makes them easier to kill. Aside from increasing enemy attack power, taunting increases their attack rate, their attacks do chip damage, and you cannot Just-Defend an enraged attack.

While the cons seem to outweigh the pros this brings up another important fact about Sam, his attacks are very weak when compared to other characters. Enraging an enemy makes them easier for him to dispatch, but you must be careful to not get overrun and taken down. If you're good at parrying, you can actually hold your health at 00.1%. If you can't keep up your parry, be sure to use the Command Dodge to protect yourself.

While Sam has a basic four hit combo via > > > , putting a a different place in the combo changes how it'll end. You can also charge his regardless of how you use it, when fully charged the attack will automatically come out. One thing to keep in mind is multiple versions of the charged has multiple hits and while it does good damage, a majority of the damage exists in the final hit. So if an enemy moves and the final hit doesn't connect, you will not be delivering much damage.

Outside of his combat abilities, Sam can double jump and perform a dash in mid-air. To double jump, simply press while in mid-air; to air-dash simply press and Sam will do a short dash without losing any elevation.

The final change isn't about Sam but the enemies; they're suped up and a lot more aggressive in this mission when compared to other parts of the game. Some of which have also been given new AI's to change the basic idea of combat.

What's Missing
As stated above, Sam isn't very strong with his basic attacks and so you should strategize if/when to use Taunt and think about if it will make your time easier or more difficult. Along with the taunt he's given up AR Mode as is his Taunt, so you won't be able to see through walls or spy on enemies as you work through the mission.

Sam is also missing the ability to perform an aerial combo. The most he can hit while airborne is twice with a > . One good thing to note is you can perform a charged to hold yourself in the air.

Since he's modeled after a Samurai, Sam works with some honor and will not Assassinate an enemy. You're free to use Zandatsu on an enemy who's unaware, but you cannot use to kill an unaware enemy.

Section 2.2 - Collectibles

While most of the 4 trophies in this DLC are easy to earn with some skill, there is an assortment of collectibles in the mission. While they have no trophy related to them, earning the life and energy collectibles can make your time in this DLC easier.

The collectibles guide can be found here: Collectible Data

Section 03. Walkthrough

While it is possible to get most trophies in one go, I strongly advise against it as the enemy difficulty has been ramped up for this DLC, and to make matters worse the last boss is a massive pain to deal with. I'm recommending to go with a 3 part playthrough; the first to familiarize yourself with the mission, the second to go up one difficulty to get the boss trophy, and then one more time to handle the Revengeance difficulty. Outside of that you may need to play a bit more to farm kills for Draw, Pardner!

Section 3.1 - First Playthrough (Normal)

Use this playthrough to just familiarize yourself with how Sam operates and the mission. You'll end up fighting 3 bosses as you go and while you've defeated them all as Raiden, it'd be wise to take note of the changes they exhibit here. While you're still getting used to everything and the enemies are weak, perform as many quickdraw kills as you can to work on Draw, Pardner!

Trophies Earned
DL-Story-01: Status - Closed

Section 3.2 - Second Playthrough (Hard)

This playthrough you're going for the No Damage Boss Kill, while it's possible to do it in combination with the Revengeance Trophy, it's safer and much easier to accomplish on the lower applicable difficulty. Aside from that, work your way through the mission and continue to wrack up your quickdraw kills.

Trophies Earned
You're Hired

Section 3.3 - Third Playthrough (Revengeance)

This playthrough you're going for the 1 Hour Revengeance Trophy. Survival should be your primary concern as the enemies do not mess around here, especially the final boss. Be sure to have a nanopaste equipped and restart a checkpoint if a battle isn't going your way. This will prevent you from compiling time due to deaths.

Trophies Earned
Master of the Wind (Missable)

Section 3.4 - Clean up

This is only applicable if you've yet to earn Draw, Pardner! If you've yet to earn it, play again on Easy and be sure to kill everything you come across with a quickdraw kill. How long this takes depends solely on how many you've earned while earning the other trophies.

Wolf's Side Story DLC:

Section 01. Overview
  • Estimated Trophy Difficulty: 6.0
  • Offline Trophies: 4 (2, 1, 1)
  • Online Trophies: 0
  • Approximate time to 100%: 1 - 2+ Hours
  • Minimum Number of Playthroughs Needed: 1 (Recommend 2)
  • Number of Missable Trophies: 1 - Fangs of Fury
  • Glitched Trophies: None
  • Does difficulty affect trophies: Yes
  • Do cheat codes disable trophies: No
  • DLC Size: 2 Gigabytes
  • DLC Cost: $6.99 / €6.99

Section 02. Introduction

The Wolf Side Story is a single mission dedicated to Blade Wolf before he was defeated by Raiden. While not entirely different from Raiden, Wolf has several differences which help set him apart, giving this DLC a different feel from the main game. Unlike the Sam DLC, the enemies are not souped up to ridiculously deadly levels.

Section 2.1 - Lightning Ninja to Blade Wolf

The changes from Raiden to Wolf are few but should be noted.

What Wolf Has
Wolf has a myriad of regular techniques Raiden has; Blade Mode, Zandatsu, Parry, Execute, Just-Defend, Aerial Parry, Aerial Combo, Assassination Kill (Now Called Hunt Kill), Most Sub-Weapons (No Stinger or RPG), AR Mode, Command Dodge +.

What's New
Wolf's one new ability is a crouch stance which is activated by pressing . This puts Wolf closer to the ground and makes it easier to hide from patrolling enemies. Do note that Wolf cannot walk in this low stance.

Wolf also has two unique scoring mechanics in his Rated Battles; these being Hunt Kills and No Alert. In Wolf's Rated Battles he can actually go the entire battle without being seen at all and still earn points, unlike Raiden who merely gets praise from a support character. With Wolf, instead of Assassination Kills he calls them Hunt Kills; they are the same thing however. Wolf can also go an entire Rated Battle without being seen, this will earn him the No Alert Bonus. So unlike Raiden or Sam, Wolf actually gets rewarded for being stealthy in battle and it is actually possible to make it through the entire mission without setting off a single Alert.

What's Missing
While Wolf has a few new tricks from Raiden, he is lacking in combo variation when compared to Raiden or Sam. He is very combat capable, but very limited on his assortment of attacks.

Section 2.2 - Collectibles

While the 4 trophies in this DLC are easy to earn with some skill, there is an assortment of collectibles in the mission. While they have no trophy related to them, earning the life and energy collectibles can make your time in this DLC easier.

The collectibles guide can be found here: Collectible Data

Section 03. Walkthrough

While it is possible to get everything done in one go, I'd recommend playing the DLC at least twice. First to familiarize yourself with the DLC and then again to earn the difficulty related trophies. The DLC operates off your progress in the main game, so if you haven't unlocked Revengeance difficulty you will need to input the Konami Code (detailed in the core game Roadmap), or go through the Main Game or DLC multiple times to do so.

Section 3.1 - First Playthrough

While it may not sound logical, I'd recommend beginning your playthrough on Hard. The reason for this is two fold, first is to familiarize yourself with the DLC and second is the boss at the end isn't too difficult so you should have no problem earning the Boss related trophy as well. Even if you don't earn it on this playthrough, you should focus on getting as many Hunt Kills as possible for Predatory Instincts. These are the same as Raiden's Assassination Kills and this trophy stacks through playthroughs.

Trophies Earned

Wolf's Pride

Section 3.2 - Revengeance Playthrough

While there is no trophy for it, if you're having trouble using Wolf in combat you can go ahead and focus on getting a complete stealth playthrough to make this run much easier. Whether you do or not, you should focus on earning enough Hunt Kills to finish the trophy for it. Outside of that you have 60 minutes to clear the entire mission. While it's not overly difficult you can lose a lot of time by dying repeatedly, which is another reason a complete stealth playthrough would be good. Whichever route you decide to use, just be sure to earn enough Hunt Kills and clear the Mission within 60 minutes and the final 2 trophies are yours.

  • Complete story mode on Revengeance difficulty with all S rankings.

This is one of the most difficult trophies in the game, but the difficulty can be lowered by using select gear. You'll have to unlock most of the gear by finding collectibles and clearing the VR missions. Once you have everything you can use, you'll have to clear the game on Revengeance difficulty while clearing every ranked battle with an S Rank. You must be absolutely sure you fight in and clear every ranked mission with an S-Rank, if you fail to do so you will not be in place to earn this trophy. You will earn this trophy at the final results screen as it displays all S Ranks. You can do the missions in any order as long as R-07 is done last; if it's not, you will need to S Rank it again to earn the trophy.

See Revengeance S-Rank Guide for details.
  • Cut off Metal Gear RAY's metal tail during File R-00.

This trophy is only available during File R-00 and only during your first encounter with Metal Gear RAY. To get this trophy you need to stay away but relatively close to RAY and wait for it to do its tail sweep attack. When it does its tail sweep you must parry the attack. When you parry its tail you'll be prompted to enter Blade Mode, do so. Raiden will jump into the air and as he descends you will be able to slice RAY's tail. This trophy will pop upon landing on the ground.
  • Destroy all the Gun Cameras in File R-01.

This trophy is only available during File R-01 and only in the factory near the end of the mission. You'll know you've entered the factory when you have to jump on top of some containers and slash your way into the building. Once you're in here you'll need to destroy all 8 cameras you come across. The first two are in the room you enter after cutting through the fan. The second set of two cameras are in the narrow hallway. The final four cameras are in the final room; two are on the ground level while the other two are on pillars on the second level. If you have a hard time finding them you can use AR mode, they'll be highlighted in red.
  • Incapacitate all the soldiers in File R-02 using a Dwarf Gekko.

This trophy is only available during File R-02 when you take control of a Dwarf Gekko (also known as a Tripod). When you take control of the Dwarf Gekko you have to disable all 5 guards in the area by getting behind them and pressing . Three of them stay on the bottom level, one stays on the top level, while the other one goes between the two. Be sure another guard doesn't see you disabling a guard, otherwise you'll get an alert and need to restart this section. This is also the same area as the Love at First Sight trophy.
  • Complete the abandoned railroad sequence in File R-03 without using AR Mode.

This trophy is only available in File R-03, in the underground train area which you reach after cutting the elevator cable. Getting through this area isn't too difficult and can be done in one of two ways. You can adjust your television settings to give yourself some vision and play stealthy; this is advised if you're not good at combating Mastiff's. Or you can run through the area and fight everything; this is advised as when an enemy is alerted to your presence, the immediate area lights up and allows you to see what's going on. Either way you decide to go about it, be sure to not activate AR Mode until you're back outside in daylight. This trophy should pop when Wolf contacts you.
  • Cut off the finial at the top of the pagoda in File R-04.

This trophy is only available in File R-04, after making it past the security door you'll enter a traditional Japanese area. The building in front of you when you first enter the area is the building you need to climb, but when you first enter the area you'll need to dispatch a group of enemies. After they're down, run to the right side of the pagoda and ninja run to climb up onto a platform and then use the platform to reach the first level of the pagoda. From there you'll need to find a set of lanterns and use them as stepping stones to reach the next level, do this until you're on the top of the pagoda. Once you're on the top, use your weapon to cut the lightning rod part in the middle of the platform to earn this trophy.
  • Complete File R-05 in less than 7 minutes.

This trophy is only available in File R-05 and is not as difficult as it sounds. There are only a handful of required battles in R-05 and most can be skipped with careful planning. You will have to partake of the battle at the start of the mission, but when it ends run to the corner in the area leading to the rest of the level. Ninja run between the buses and if you're fast enough you can evade the Gekkos that enter the area. Continue on down the path until you get attacked by one heavy and four regular cyborgs. After this fight you'll be attacked by Dwarf Gekkos until you reach a staircase. From here you can attack everything you want, but I would advise waiting in a cardboard box until the Slides leave the area. Whichever you prefer, when you reach the bottom of the stairs you'll be attacked by two Raptors. From here there's not much left, move forward and skip the guards who are with a civilian and GRAD. When you reach the Mastiff, you can either fight it or hide from it and sneak past to exit the level. As long as you're quick about destroying the enemies you should have no problem with this mission. A good strategy I'd recommend is using ripper mode to dispatch the more powerful enemies and use Zandatsu to replenish your energy before the fight is over.
  • Arrive at the objective in File R-07 without being spotted.

This trophy is only available in File R-07 and can be somewhat difficult, and requires a few items; namely a box or drum, at least 1 shot of an RPG or Stinger, and 1 Hologram. I advise doing this on Hard Difficulty or lower as it makes this trophy much easier to obtain.

At the start of the mission approach the gate and without signaling an alert, get the guards attention and lead them away from the gate and hide. When they turn around, use an assassinate kill on them. Now do not approach the gate as there are two hidden enemies that will always detect your approach. Instead use your RPG or Stinger to shoot and kill the final guard. Now move towards the gate to trigger the codec conversation.

Slice through the gate, hug the right wall and use ninja run to climb to the top of the boxes and onto the overhang above the hangar entrance; the guards will notice you but shouldn't go into an alert, hide in a box or drum to not be seen. When the guards return to their routine jump down and enter the hangar. To your right, jump up to the top level and without being seen by the guard on the catwalk approach the back of the hangar. Take out the two heavies or leave them be and slice through the back of the hangar.

Now there are three guards split among two groups here; one is on the catwalk attached to the hangar while two are on the other side of an APC. This can be done by throwing a hologram to have the two on the ground look towards the hangar, this will allow you to sneak behind them and you'll be far enough away and out of sight of the lone cyborg.

This trophy will not pop until you reach the results screen, but you will know you earned it if Doktor compliments you upon sneaking past the final set of cyborgs.
  • Destroy a total of 100 Cyborgs during story mode.

This trophy is easy to obtain and can be considered unmissable as you should have at least 100 Cyborg kills before you finish the game on your first playthrough.
  • Destroy a total of 100 Custom Cyborgs during story mode.

This trophy is relatively easy to obtain and can be knocked out in approximately two playthroughs, or can be grinded in specific areas. Custom Cyborgs are the cyborgs who wield big two-handed swords, can parry your attacks, and need to be weakened before you can Zandatsu them.
  • Destroy a total of 100 Heavily Armed Cyborgs during story mode.

This trophy is relatively easy to obtain but can require some effort as these enemies are not common, even on the higher difficulties. The Heavily Armored Cyborgs are the ones wielding war hammers and require a lot of damage before you can Zandatsu them. This trophy can take several playthroughs or can be grinded in specific areas.

The best place to grind this is in File R-07. After destroying the guards outside the gate, go further into the base and kill all the heavies, then press and go to your customization menu. This will save your kills and then start you back outside the gate. Repeat this process until this trophy pops.
  • Destroy a total of 10 Gekkos during story mode.

This trophy is easy to obtain and can be considered unmissable as you should kill at least 10 Gekkos before you finish the game on your first playthrough. Dwarf Gekkos and GRADs do not count for this trophy.
  • Destroy a total of 10 Mastiffs during story mode.

This trophy is easy to obtain and can be considered unmissable as you should kill at least 10 Mastiffs before you finish the game on your first playthrough.
  • Destroy a total of 10 Raptors during story mode.

This trophy is relatively easy to obtain but can require some effort as these enemies are not as numerous as others. This can be obtained on your first playthrough if you clear every single battle available to you. If not, you will earn this on a subsequent playthrough.
  • Destroy a total of 5 Vodomjerka during story mode.

This trophy is relatively easy but only possible in File R-02. Near the end of the sewer section you'll be in a square room where a water strider type enemy will be patrolling, this is the enemy you have to kill. Every time you kill one of these enemies, a new one will spawn in, for an infinite amount of times. There is also a ranked battle with three of these enemies, but the square room with the respawning patrol is the best area to farm kills.
  • Destroy a total of 10 Fenrirs during story mode.

This trophy is relatively easy but can require some effort as these enemies are not as numerous as others. Clearing the game at least twice while hitting all relevant battles should earn you this trophy. The Wolf Boss Battle in R-01 does count for this, seeing how it's early in the mission it's the best location to farm kills if you want.
  • Destroy a total of 10 Sliders during story mode.

This trophy is relatively easy but can require some effort as these enemies are not too numerous. You can earn this trophy on your first playthrough, but this would require you to take your time and kill every single Slider you come across; including all the Sliders during the R-04 building assault.
  • Destroy a total of 10 Hammerheads during story mode.

This trophy is relatively easy but can require some effort as these enemies are not too numerous. Hammerheads are the helicopters that attack you in very few locations. You can earn this trophy in roughly two playthroughs, but the best place to farm them is R-01. You get attacked by one early in the mission and can fight two more in a later ranked battle.

I theorize that you can also grind these during the Sundowner fight as his helicopter support comes back in about a minute, but I have no confirmation.
  • Destroy a total of 30 Dwarf Gekkos during story mode.

This trophy is easy to obtain and can be considered unmissable as you should kill at least 30 Dwarf Gekkos before you finish the game on your first playthrough. If you are the impatient type, you can farm Dwarf Gekkos during the Mistral fight; as she has an infinite supply of them as support.
  • Destroy all of the humanoid Dwarf Gekkos during story mode.

(Glitched) This trophy requires you to find and destroy all 5 humanoid Dwarf Gekkos that are hidden in the game. Some are more easily found than others, but all can be easily missed. While not entirely missable, this trophy is finicky, with some people having to destroy all 5 in one pass and others being able to quit the game and pick it up later and still earn the trophy. This problem is made apparent, as unlike other collectible trophies, the game will not auto-save once you kill a humanoid Dwarf Gekko. For safety's sake, I would advise to destroy all 5 of them in one go without using the restart function.

Use the video below or the Collectibles Guide for more details.
  • Successfully complete 50 Zandatsus during story mode.

To earn this trophy you need to successfully perform 50 Zandatsus. A Zandatsu is when you slash an enemy's weakspot in blade mode and then press to grab its power core and absorb it. If you do not grab the power core it will not be a successful Zandatsu. The standard humanoid Cyborgs can be hit with a Zandatsu right away while the more powerful enemies will need to be weakened or staggered first. Simply perform 50 Zandatsus and this trophy is yours.
  • In story mode, successfully parry 10 attacks in a row in one minute or less.

This trophy is not as difficult as it sounds, especially when your skill level improves. To successfully parry you need to press the towards an attacking enemy while simultaneously pressing . All you need to do is parry 10 attacks within 60 seconds. I've had best results with the Custom Cyborgs as they're quite aggressive and if you're good enough can chain parry by just-defending an attack, they'll block and then counter-attack, which gives you another chance for a just-defend. They won't keep this up forever and you'll eventually break their guard, but they offer the best chance to parry as compared to other enemies. Another ideal place will be when you're attempting the Genius Destroyer trophy, as Monsoon attacks rapidly and gives plenty of opportunities to parry 10 times within 60 seconds.
  • Successfully complete 30 Ninja Kills during story mode.

This trophy is very simple, a ninja kill is when you press behind an enemy who doesn't see you and kill them. There are many places in the game that allow you to sneak up on enemies to perform these attacks. You can also use AR mode to watch their movements through walls, use the hologram to distract them, and use the cardboard box or drum to hide from an enemy as he passes by. Simply get 30 Ninja Kills across multiple playthroughs to earn this trophy.
  • Successfully complete 50 Executions during story mode.

This trophy is simple but may take some work to get. An execution is when you've weakened an enemy and are prompted to press and simultaneously. This will have Raiden perform a finishing move on the enemy that will kill them, though it does offer you a perfect chance to finish them off with a Zandatsu. One small thing to note is you need to have at least one full energy bar to be able to pull off an execution. Simply complete 50 executions and you'll earn this trophy.

Not every enemy behaves the same and they all have different execution cinematics, but the easiest way to get most enemies into a weakened state so you can execute them is by hitting them with a just-defend. You can execute Gekkos by parrying their charge attack as well, this will require you to do a quick-time event to stop them from hitting you, but once it's over you can go immediately into an execution.
  • Successfully complete 10 No Kill battles during story mode.

This is as simple as it sounds, merely win 10 ranked battles while earning a No Kill bonus. To earn a No Kill bonus you must dispatch all enemies with a non-lethal weapon. Your two choices are the High-Frequency Wooden Sword or the Stun Blade; you earn the Wooden Sword by finding all 5 'Men in Box' and earn the Stun Blade by finding all 20 'Data Storage'. Once you have one of these weapons, use it to fight ranked battles and after your 10th No Kill Bonus you'll have this trophy.

See Data Mining for Data Storage details.
See Peekaboo for Men in Box details.
  • Dismember three enemies during Blade Mode with a single attack.

This is as simple as it sounds, while in Blade Mode hit three enemies with one slash and have it dismember all of them. This is easy to perform on the basic cyborg as you do not have to weaken them and they tend to crowd around Raiden. It can also be performed against Dwarf Gekkos as they're small and can easily swarm you, giving the perfect opportunity to slice at least three of them at once.
  • In story mode, kill 100 enemies by cutting them.

This is a very simple and straightforward trophy almost to the point of it being unmissable. While playing the game use Blade Mode or Ripper Mode to dismember enemies or merely slash them into ribbons. Keep in mind the more powerful enemies can't be dismembered until they've been weakened.
  • While remotely operating a Dwarf Gekko in story mode, find and communicate with all Dwarf Gekkos.

This trophy is only available during File R-02 when you take control of a Dwarf Gekko (also known as a Tripod). When you take control of the Dwarf Gekko, you need to find and interact with the 5 Dwarf Gekko's hanging out in the area; to interact with them, stand in front of them and press :r2: to hop back and forth, this should get the Dwarf Gekko to applaud you. You can find 4 of the Dwarf Gekko's by using the minimap and looking around, however one of them is hard to find. This is the same area for you to earn Dwarf Raiden so don't miss out on it.

#1. From the start of the area, turn right and jump onto the box in the corner.

#2. From the start of the area, move forward and jump onto a box then jump onto the rail that's in the middle of the path. Walk on the railing back to the start of the area, turn right and jump onto the top of the higher boxes. From there jump onto a higher set of boxes. From there jump onto the top of the conveyor system to find the Dwarf Gekko.

#3. From the start of the area, move down the path and when it turns left look in the corner.

#4. From the start of the area, move down the path and when it turns left look up on the pipes on the inside of the turn. Jump onto the boxes to reach the pipes and this Dwarf Gekko.

#5. From the start of the area, move down the path and take both turns. Go past the staircase and tucked away in the corner on the far side of the area is a stack of boxes with the Dwarf Gekko atop them.
  • Acquire all customization items.

For as easy as this trophy sounds it will require you to perform many actions in the game; clearing all 20 VR Missions in first place, collecting all left arms, finding all men in boxes, finding all data storage devices, clearing the game on hard and Mission R-00 on Very Hard, everything else will be unlocked by simply playing through the game. Once everything is available to be purchased; you simply need to buy every costume, main weapon, alternate weapon, and the upgrades.

View the individual trophies or Collectibles Guide for all collectible information.
  • Acquire all enemy officers' left arms.

This trophy requires you to find and collect all 30 left arms belonging to enemy officers. They're not too hard to miss if you're adamant about using AR mode to examine all the enemies you come across, but a few of them can be difficult to locate as you need to perform a specific action to have some of them spawn. If you miss an arm you can go back using Chapter Select and pick it up, since the game auto-saves every time you pick up an arm you'll be able to quit out of the mission once you have one you missed. However you will need to beat your current mission once you've picked up the final arm to earn this trophy. These collectibles can be tracked via the Extras tab on the Main Menu. Each Arm has a name attached to it, which is how you can track them.

Use the video below or use the Collectibles Guide for more details.
  • Listen to most of the codec conversations.

This is a very time consuming trophy as it requires you to listen to a majority of all possible codec conversations in the game. For this trophy you'll need to play File R-01 through R-07 and routinely talk to the support characters. The best method to do this trophy is to talk to them anytime storyline progression has been made; whether it's taking a call from a support character, watching a cutscene, fighting a boss, or clearing a ranked battle. Other times to call your support characters are upon encountering a new enemy, rescuing a hostage, letting a hostage die, or cutting the clothes off hostages. Keep in mind everyone may have something to say; this is very monotonous and time consuming. You'll earn this trophy once you've listened to the required number of codec conversations. This trophy does carry through multiple playthroughs; so if you don't get it in one playthrough, you can keep trying on subsequent playthroughs.
  • Discover all of the soldiers hidden in cardboard boxes.

This trophy requires you to find the 5 cyborgs who are hiding in cardboard boxes (also called Man in Box). There are three missions that lack a Man in Box while every mission that does have a Man in Box will only have one. If you miss a Man in Box you can go back using Chapter Select and pick it up, since the game auto-saves every time you find one you'll be able to quit out of the mission once you have one you missed. However you will need to beat your current mission once you've found the final Man in Box to earn the trophy. There is no way to track these collectibles, however your progress is saved once you find one. So if you miss one and can identify which one you missed then this trophy isn't too difficult.

Use the video below or the Collectibles Guide for more details.
  • Acquire all data storage devices.

This trophy requires you to find the 20 Data Storage Devices that are scattered throughout the game. If you miss a Data Storage Device you can go back using Chapter Select and pick it up, since the game auto-saves every time you find one you'll be able to quit out of the mission once you have one you missed. However you will need to beat your current mission once you've found the final Data Storage Device to earn the trophy. There is no way to track these collectibles, however your progress is saved once you find one. So if you miss one and can identify which one you missed then this trophy isn't too difficult.

Use the video below or the Collectibles Guide for more details.
  • Rescue all the civilians.

This trophy requires you to find and rescue the 4 civilians that are scattered throughout the game. If you fail to rescue a civilian you can try again by using the Restart Checkpoint option or Chapter Select, since the game auto-saves every time you rescue one you'll be able to quit out of the mission once you have rescued one you failed to earlier. This trophy will pop once you rescue the final civilian. There is no way to track these collectibles, however your progress is saved once you rescue one. So if you miss one and can identify which one you missed then this trophy isn't too difficult.

Use the video below or the Collectibles Guide for more details.
  • Unlock every VR Mission.

This trophy requires you to find and access the 20 VR Mission Terminals that are scattered throughout the game. If you fail to access one you can try again by using Chapter Select, since the game auto-saves every time you find one you'll be able to quit out of the mission once you have accessed one you missed earlier. However you will need to beat your current mission once you've accessed the final terminal to earn the trophy. There is no way to track these collectibles, however your progress is saved once you find one. So if you miss one and can identify which one you missed then this trophy isn't too difficult.

Use the video below or the Collectibles Guide for more details.
  • Complete every VR Mission.

There are 20 VR Missions that are accessible from the main menu, to have access to the VR Missions you'll have to find the VR Mission Terminals that are hidden throughout story mode. To complete this trophy you'll need to first find all 20 VR Mission Terminals and then clear all 20 of the VR Missions.

See Analysis Complete or the Collectibles Guide for where to find the VR Mission Terminals. See VR Missions Guide for details.

See Analysis Complete or the Collectibles Guide for where to find the VR Mission Terminals. See VR Missions Guide for details.

Secret trophies

  • Defeat Mistral without taking any damage on Hard difficulty or above.

Mistral is one of the easier bosses in the game, so this trophy isn't too complicated. You must be playing on Hard, Very Hard, or Revengeance, and defeat Mistral without taking any damage. If Mistral or her Dwarf Gekkos lands a hit on you, use the Restart Checkpoint option to try again. Mistral has 3 phases to her fight with a checkpoint at the end of each phase. Unless you're impatient, you should leave this trophy for your Stormbringer playthrough, as earning a no damage bonus helps you achieve an S-Rank.

See Boss Data for additional details.
  • Defeat Monsoon without taking any damage on Hard difficulty or above.

Monsoon is one of the more frustrating bosses in the game and this can be difficult to perform without sufficient practice. You must be playing on Hard, Very Hard, or Revengeance, and defeat Monsoon without taking any damage. If Monsoon lands a hit on you, use the Restart Checkpoint option to try again. Monsoon has no checkpoints in his fight until the very end, so this trophy is very skill dependent as he's one of the harder bosses. Unless you're impatient, you should leave this trophy for your Stormbringer playthrough, as earning a no damage bonus helps you achieve an S-Rank.

See Boss Data for additional details.
  • Defeat Sundowner without taking any damage on Hard difficulty or above.

Sundowner is one of the easier bosses in the game, so this trophy isn't too complicated. You must be playing on Hard, Very Hard, or Revengeance, and defeat Sundowner without taking any damage. If Sundowner or his Helicopter lands a hit on you, use the Restart Checkpoint option to try again. Sundowner has 2 phases to his fight with a checkpoint between them. Unless you're impatient, you should leave this trophy for your Stormbringer playthrough, as earning a no damage bonus helps you achieve an S-Rank.

See Boss Data for additional details.
  • Defeat Samuel without taking any damage on Hard difficulty or above.

Sam is a 'middle of the road' boss in terms of difficulty; he has a few tricks, but nothing a bit of practice can't fix. You must be playing on Hard, Very Hard, or Revengeance, and defeat Sam without taking any damage. If Sam lands a hit on you, use the Restart Checkpoint option to try again. Sam has no checkpoints in his fight, so you have to put him down in one go without getting hit. Unless you're impatient, you should leave this trophy for your Stormbringer playthrough, as earning a no damage bonus helps you achieve an S-Rank.

See Boss Data for additional details.
  • Defeat Sen. Armstrong without taking any damage on Hard difficulty or above.

Senator Armstrong is right up there with Monsoon in difficulty, however he can be more manageable. You must be playing on Hard, Very Hard, or Revengeance, and defeat Senator Armstrong without taking any damage. If he lands a hit on you, use the Restart Checkpoint option to try again. Senator Armstrong has 2 checkpoints in his fight, however due to how the fight goes you must be very careful on the second phase. Unless you're impatient, you should leave this trophy for your Stormbringer playthrough, as earning a no damage bonus helps you achieve an S-Rank.

See Boss Data for additional details.

DLC: VR Missions Expansion

2 trophies

  • Complete every DL-VR Mission.

This is just as it sounds, play and complete all 30 DLC VR Missions to earn this trophy. Your scores in the missions do not matter for this trophy.

See Hero of the Metaverse for details.
  • Set the highest score on every DL-VR Mission.

This is just as it sounds, play and complete all 30 DLC VR Missions while earning the highest score on every mission. Some of the missions can be very difficult to clear with top marks so please see the VR Missions Guide for details of each mission.

DLC: Sam's Side Story

4 trophies

  • Complete DL-Story-01: Jetstream.

This description is very straightforward, simply clear the mission on any difficulty to earn this trophy. You'll earn this trophy at the mission results screen.
  • Defeat Sen. Armstrong without taking any damage on Hard difficulty or above.

This is the lesser of the two hard trophies. Don't be fooled by how he was in Raiden's campaign, he's a lot harder to take down here, especially when going for no damage. While it's possible to do on Revengeance difficulty, it's best to do this on Hard as the difference in the two is vast and it's much easier to perform on Hard. Perform this task and you'll earn the trophy at the battle results screen.

    See Boss Data for details.
  • Complete DL-Story-01: Jetstream on Revengeance difficulty in one hour or less.

(Missable) This is the greater of the two hard trophies. The enemies are of course strong and aggressive beyond belief, but aside from that, the big obstacle is Senator Armstrong. You have 60 minutes to clear the mission, but given how horrible Armstrong can be, you can easily build up time from continually dying. You don't build time when you manually restart, but do build time if you die. So I'd suggest preserving yourself with nanopaste and using the checkpoint restart whenever given the chance. Simply make it through the mission on Revengeance difficulty within 60 minutes and you'll earn this trophy at the final results screen.
  • Defeat 100 enemies in DL-Story-01: Jetstream's Story mode using Quick Draw.

This trophy isn't too difficult, just time consuming. While the command list shows how to perform a Quick Draw, there is a much easier way. Simply hold down until Sam rushes forward and performs a 4 hit combo. If the damage is sufficient to kill the enemy, it will count towards this trophy. It's good to work on this trophy while going for the other three, but if you finish them first, simply play through the mission again on Easy difficulty and kill everything you come across with a Quick Draw. This trophy stacks kills across all playthroughs so it's just a matter of time to get it. You'll earn this trophy once you've earned your 100th Quick Draw kill.

DLC: Wolf's Side Story

4 trophies

  • Complete DL-Story-02: Blade Wolf.

This trophy is storyline related and cannot be missed. Simply clear the mission on any difficulty to earn this trophy.
  • Defeat Khamsin without taking any damage on Hard difficulty or above.

This trophy is very straightforward; be playing on Hard difficulty or higher and defeat the boss without taking any damage. While the boss isn't too difficult, he does have a few dangers worth noting.

    See Boss Data for details.
  • Complete DL-Story-02: Blade Wolf on Revengeance difficulty in one hour or less.

(Missable) This trophy is very straightforward, you must be playing on Revengeance difficulty and clear the mission within 60 minutes. How you decide to play is up to you, but if you find combat with Wolf to be difficult you can earn a complete stealth playthrough. You will still have to go via direct combat with the boss, but every enemy outside of the boss can be dealt with through stealth. The most important thing to remember when earning this trophy is while you do have plenty of time, you will continue to accrue time every time you die. To mitigate this I'd recommend keeping a nanopaste equipped and using the restart function if a particular battle isn't going how you'd prefer.
  • Defeat 30 enemies in DL-Story-02 : Blade Wolf via Hunt Kills.

This trophy is very straightforward, kill 30 enemies via Hunt Kills in the Wolf DLC mission. Don't let the name fool you, Wolf's Hunt kills are the same as Raiden's Assassination kills; simply get behind or above an unaware enemy and press to kill them quickly. This trophy stacks and so earning it should only be a matter of time. You can earn it in one playthrough if you go for a complete stealth playthrough and kill enemies while you avoid their detection.
