Introduction:

Welcome to 2K Sports annual baseball game Major League Baseball 2K13. This year's edition, just like MLB2K10, MLB2K11, and MLB2K12 puts a great emphasis on creating your very own player and controlling your player as you work your way as a can't miss prospect in the minors to becoming a Hall of Famer in the big leagues through the My Player mode, which is made easier by playing on custom sliders. Like previous year's, MyPlayer mode is known to glitch so make extra saves but trophies are not glitched. Trophies can be unlocked by playing on Rookie difficulty and using custom sliders. All non-simulated game trophies can be unlock in either an exhibition game or a Ranked online game. Unlike previous year's editions there is no date specific trophies. Following the road map and guide below should help you to a Walk Off

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Profile Creation
You want to create a profile in the very beginning when the game prompts you the first time you load the game. You should select Yes to always connect to 2K Sports, this way you can download the daily MLB today games and be connected for online play. Your profile is the key to tracking your profile stats to unlock the following trophies:

  • Domination
  • Production
  • Home Sweet Home
  • Chicks Dig It
  • Almost There
  • Fanning the Flames
  • Set the Table
  • Productivity
  • You Make Your Own Destiny
  • As Good as a Hit

Step 2: Franchise
From the Main Menu, you want to go to Management > Rosters and select a team you want to max out (Team 1) the batters and starting five pitchers to use in one year of franchise mode, and one team you want to set all the stats to zero (Team 2) for the batters and pitchers to use in getting all profile trophies if you do not have an extra controller or cannot boost. Once you have made your edits, go from the Main Menu > Game Modes and select Franchise. Select your maxed out team and set up no trades between CPU teams and set all playoff games to a best of 1, then sim all of Spring training and make sure you play at least 20-21 games in your franchise to unlock franchise trophies. You can sim the rest of the season, which should have earned you most if not all MLB season records. With your maxed team you should easily make the playoffs, earn a MVP award, and win the World Series to unlock the following trophies:

  • Remember Me
  • You're Special
  • The Champs

Step 3: Online Play Unachievable due to server closure
Time for some online play. You can boost the online trophies or not; it is up to you. The great thing about online play is that all non-simulated trophies can be unlocked in online play except the My Player and Franchise mode trophies. To play online select the bottom left map of the world on the home screen and then Exhibition > Ranked. The online service will search and match you up with another player. If you want to boost with a partner, then you two need to sync together in hope that you are matched up with one another. It is important to play one game as the Houston Astros. Make sure when you play that you played all 9 innings, then play nine more games with nine different teams. Also, at some point you will want to win three games in a row and beat the San Francisco Giants. You will unlock the following trophies in this step:

  • Upset Alert
  • The Spice of Life
  • Count It
  • My Fellow Man
  • The Road to Greatness
  • Team to Beat

Step 4: My Player
From the main menu, you want to go to My Player and create your player you will use to accomplish all the My Player trophies. Like previous year's, MyPlayer mode is known to glitch so make extra saves but trophies are not glitched. You can play on rookie difficulty, or if you are in a rush, you can play on custom sliders. In the games you play, the game will give you a goal to accomplish when you come up to bat or are on base. Being successful in goals will give you key skill points to use on your player. If you get a 10+ game hitting streak, then your goal points will be doubled and if you play in a "Key Game" then all "Key Game" goals are doubled. There will be many games you need to play called "Key Games," which are if you're in a MVP race with a group of players, chance at improving your shot at winning your division, wild card race, Key Game against your rival, key game against you inter-league rival and playing against a top player at your position.

I suggest you play your first season to increase your overall abilities with only a little bit of simming. In games you sim, you earn less skill points and games you play you can earn a multitude of skill points. If you sim, there are times when the game will stop simming, and make you play a clutch moment and a clutch moment is where you have a goal such as hit a walk off hit.

Throughout your My Player career, you will need to meet 2 or more team goals, 5 or more season goals, and 5 or more career goals. Then once you have met these goals, go to career decisions and retire and you will enter the Hall of Fame. This will take you at least 5-6 seasons. Also, always make an extra save of your "My Player" in case you might experience a glitch as it has happened in previous years with "My Player". Expect most "My Player" trophies to be very time consuming. You will unlock the following trophies in this step:

  • This is Why I'm Here
  • The Call
  • The Goal
  • Payback
  • Your Day
  • Back to the Cage
  • A Job Well Done
  • 2-Peat
  • The Top
  • The Hall
  • What's Your Ring Size?

Step 5: Clean Up/Home Run Derby/Exhibition Games
Now it is clean up time and you can go after any trophies you have left and explore the Best of the Best Home Run Derby mode. If you still need some profile trophies like Production, then use your max out team (Team 1) from franchise mode and play against a team with minimal ratings (Team 2) to play with in exhibition mode in a quick game. Trophies you may need to unlock in this step:

  • King of The Hill
  • He Taketh Away
  • Mr. Consistency
  • A Virtue
  • One Man Show

Make sure you have a user profile and play Exhibition games (full 9 inning games) or Franchise games with your user profile active, as Online games and My Player games DO NOT count towards user profile stats. It will auto save after all games, and any time you drive in a run with a batter, hit a Home Run or strikeout a batter this will be counted on your profile. You can view your stats by using the VIP Viewer from the main menu.

If you have just one controller, then use your Maxed out team (Team 1) against your weak team (Team 2), this will make it much easier. Play exhibition games (full 9 inning games) and try to accumulate as many stats for each profile trophy per exhibition game.

Big thanks to anthonyd46 from our sister site xbox360achievements for finding the following method using two controllers to earn all profile trophies much easier and less time consuming:

    Quote:

Play an Exhibition game using two controllers. Play a 9 inning game and get as many stats as you can for each of the corresponding profile trophies, then in the 9th inning with 2 outs and the last batter your facing down 0-2 in the count, pause the game and select to QUIT and SAVE MATCH. Save the game. At the main menu turn OFF controller two. Now you can load up the saved game play the last strike to end the game as the game will end and all stats will be recorded and saved to your user profile. Rinse and repeat reloading the saved game as many times as you need to get the required amount of stats for each profile trophy. Once you do, you have to play one franchise game all the way through as TROPHIES WILL NOT UNLOCK IN EXHIBITION GAME; THIS WAY YOU MUST PLAY ONE FRANCHISE GAME TO UNLOCK. After the franchise game is over and you user profile is saved, profile trophies will unlock if you met the required amount of stats for each profile trophy.

Just remember for Domination, that you will need to reload your saved exhibition 63 times and have a score where you are up one for example 5-4.

  • Get a hit with 2 strikes in a non-simulated game.

As the batter, work the count to where you have two strikes (ex. 0-2) and get a successful base hit.

  • Get a strikeout to end the inning in a non-simulated game.

    See Stooges

  • Turn a double play in a non-simulated game.

There are numerous opportunities for a Double Play to happen in game. The most likely occurrence is when a batter hits a ground ball to the Second baseman or shortstop and the first out is made at second base, (you must have a runner on first base) and then the Second baseman throws the ball to first base to get the batter out.

  • Get a save with the tying run on base in a non-simulated game.

In the ninth inning, you must be up by three runs or less, and load the bases with enough batters to have the tying run on base. It's always best to have your closer warming up in the 8th inning and then bring him in the 9th. You cannot allow the tying run to score.

  • Win after being down by 4 after the 6th inning in a non-simulated game.

Make sure you are down by 4 runs after the 6th inning and make the comeback to win. If you need extra innings to win, then it's ok as all you need to do is come back from being down by 4 runs after the 6th inning. A good way to do this is to play as your Maxed out team (Team 1) against your weak team (Team 2) and intentionally walk in 4 runs, to ensure you are down by 4 runs after the 6th inning.

  • Lead off an inning by hitting a triple in a non-simulated game.

Using your Maxed out team (Team 1) against your weak team (Team 2) will make this much easier. Play in AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants, as the field is huge and has gaps that will help in getting a Triple. With your maxed out team, you should be able to hit a ball far enough to end up on third base as you batter will have 100 speed and hitting ability.

Can also be on done online with your boosting partner by letting you make it to third off a hit.

  • Strikeout all three hitters in the inning in a non-simulated game.

In any inning, strike out the three hitters you face. It's easier if you use your weak team (team 2) as this team will have the lowest batting ability, increasing your chances of striking them out. By striking out the last batter you will also get Grab some Pine.

  • Battle Back: Down 0-2, get walked in a non-simulated game.

This can be tricky as you need a good eye to tell which pitches are balls and which pitches are strikes.

Take two quick swings to put you in a 0-2 hole, then keep an eye out to see where the ball looks to be going. If the pitch is either too high, too low, or out on the edge, then the pitch is a ball. If the pitch is near the middle of the plate, around your player's waist to chest area, then it is a strike. If you think a pitch maybe a strike, then take a defensive swing by moving left or right to compact your swing to give you a foul ball. Get four balls and the trophy is yours.

  • Miss your throw to first base with 2 outs in a non-simulated game.

With 2 outs in an inning, you need to allow a hitter get a hit off you. The hit needs to be a single. When you are throwing to first base, hold till the markers is in the red, and once in the red release . Being on red means your throw will be off and thus you will miss your throw to first.

  • Get an RBI after getting brushed back off the plate in a non-simulated game.

You need to have a baserunner in a scoring position, either on second or third base. The opposing pitcher has to throw a pitch that makes you back off the plate. After the back off pitch, you need to make a successful hit that scores the baserunner for a run.

Easiest done with a boosting partner as your partner will walk you intentionally three times by using and with the bases loaded hit your batter with the baseball to score a run and trophy unlocks.

  • Bunt the man home in a non-simulated game.

You need to have a base runner on third base, preferably a base runner with good speed, such as Mike Trout of the LA Angels.

With a runner on third, have the batter throw down a bunt (to bunt use and the to aim) towards the first base line. After the runner on third scores, the trophy is yours. It helps to edit your hitters speed, acceleration and bunt abilities. You can also edit the opposing teams pitcher, first baseman, third baseman, and catcher ability in fielding range, throwing accuracy, and throwing strength to help the base runner score from third or simply use your maxed out team (Team 1) against your weak team (Team 2).

  • Steal a base with a pitcher in a non-simulated game.

If you are using your maxed team (Team 1), then you should have no problem in stealing a base with your pitcher. To steal, you press and hold , then release as the opposing pitcher is about throw.

  • Hit a Walk-off Home Run in a non-simulated game.

This can be done in a 3 inning game. You must be playing as the Home team in the bottom of the last inning and with your batter, hit a game winning home-run. Inside the park home-run does count.

  • Rob a Home Run by climbing the wall in a non-simulated game.

One of the most time consuming and difficult trophies in the entire game. To rob a run takes luck as there are very few opportunities to rob a Home Run. If you find yourself struggling to rob a Home Run, then below are two methods that will help increase your chance for robbing a Home Run.

    • Management > Rosters
    • Edit the three starting outfielders (Alfonso Soriano, Nate Schierholtz, and David DeJesus) of the Chicago Cubs to be 99 in all Fielding abilities and starting pitcher Matt Garza to have a 12-6 curveball.
    • Exhibition mode > Away Team: AL All-Stars/Home Team: Chicago Cubs.
    • Hit to change the ball park to Miller Park (home of the Milwaukee Brewers), Winds to Calm, Weather to Cloudy, Time of Game to Night and hit to confirm
    • Press and change your starting pitcher Garza as he has a 12-6 curveball
    • Start of game > Pause the game to change the difficulty sliders
    • CPU Batting: 100 Contact/55 Home Run Power---USER Pitching: Pitch Break Influence 0 / USER Fielding: 100 Outfield Run Speed
    • Throw only the 12-6 curveball at about 70% power at the middle top of the strike zone using CLASSIC Controls

Throw the CPU high weak 12-6 curveballs in the strike zone. Then when the opportunity presents itself to rob a Home Run, you need to hit when it says "Climb Wall" (only time a home run that is able to be robbed). The trophy will only unlock if you climbed the wall and the announcers mention you climbing the wall to rob a Home Run. If you failed to rob a home run after getting 3 outs from the AL All-Stars, then select quit and rematch.

  • Get 3 consecutive batters on base in a non-simulated game.

Using you maxed out team (Team 1) you should easily get three consecutive batters on base. Throughout your game playing you will encounter opportunities to get three hits in a row or a combination of hits and walks to get three consecutive batters on base.

  • Get a hit in all 9 innings in a non-simulated game.

This a team trophy. Your team needs to get at least one successful hit in each inning of the game. If your having trouble, then use your Maxed out team (Team 1) against your weak team (Team 2).

  • Face 10 pitches as the batter in a non-simulated game.

This is a tricky trophy as you cannot let yourself get a walk by accident or strikeout early into the count. At most you will have worked the count to 3-2 (3 balls - 2 strikes), and now you need to at least foul off five pitches. A good way to foul off pitches is to swing late and bat with an average hitter by moving the or to compact your swing making foul hits easier.

If boosting online, then get a 0-2 count and then foul off four consecutive pitches by moving the or to compact your swing making foul hits easier. After four consecutive fouls, have your partner throw four consecutive balls. The trophy will unlock after the last ball is thrown.

  • Throw a No-Hitter in a 9 inning, non-simulated game.

The easiest way is to use your maxed out team (Team 1) against your weak team (Team 2). Make sure you allow no runs and no hits, but walks are OK. At some point in the game you need to score a run to win the game.

If you have a boosting partner, then you can also do this online in a ranked game.

  • Accomplish a Team Season Goal in My Player Mode.

When you are in the majors, your ball club will set a season goal for the team based on how you performed the year before. Goals can range from winning the division, winning 10 more games than last season, and becoming a dynasty. Once the season is over and if you accomplished the team goal the trophy will appear.

Most common goal is after you won the World Series in the previous season, the next season goal is to win back-to-back championships. Reaching the goal of back-to back championships will also unlock 2-Peat.

  • Get a Golden Sombrero (strikeout 4 times in 1 game) in My Player Mode.

This will require your player to be in one of the top three spots in the lineup to have a chance at four plate appearances. All you have to do is strike out four times in only four plate appearances and the trophy is unlocked.

  • Hit a home run off a former team in My Player Mode.

Your player should be in the 90+ overall range before you go for this trophy. Once your "My Player" is in 90+ overall range, demand a trade to a team in your division. Your aim is to go to a division rival, as you will get more opportunities to get a Home Run off your former team.

You can also back up your "My Player" save. With the backup save, demand a trade to a division rival then hit a Home Run off of your former team, if you do not want to leave your current team.

  • Win player of the game in an MLB game in My Player Mode.

You have to be playing on a MLB team to get this trophy. To be named the Player of the Game, you need to have the best performance out of everyone on the field and WIN the game. Normally, you are given the player of game by driving in the most runs (RBI's), hitting multiple Home Runs, throw a shutout or any other outstanding statistical performance.

  • Be successful in a major league clutch moment in My Player Mode.

Throughout your My Player career you will have moments in game where you are presented with a clutch moment. Clutch moments can involve anything from: getting an extra base hit, moving the runner to scoring position and getting a walk off hit. You will have many clutch moment opportunities in your career. Just be successful one time and this trophy will unlock.

  • Get called up to the Majors in My Player Mode.

With your created player, you will need to meet numerous goals set forth by your team in order to be called up to the majors. Some goals include playing 20 games, increasing your right and left contact to 60, and having a certain hitting average. Meet the goals set forth by your team and you will get the call.

  • Win 100+ games in a season in My Player Mode.

    See What's Your Ring Size?

  • Win Back to Back World Series® in My Player Mode.

    See What's Your Ring Size?

  • Become the #1 ranked player in your My Player organization.

You must become the overall top player on your team. The longer you play the better you will get but other players on the team can either increase or decrease. If you cannot become the top rated player, then you can request a trade to team without superstars by going to career decisions. The trophy will unlock when you play your next appearance after the game is over.

If in a hurry after your first or mid-way through your season, your MyPlayer should be 87 overall. Request a trade to the Houston Astros as their top player is 86 overall. You can back up your save if you do not want to stay on the Astros.

  • Make the All-Star team in My Player Mode.

Sometime during 15 seasons, if you had a good first half of the season you will be selected as an All-Star. When you select to play the All-Star game, the trophy will unlock. Do not skip the All-Star Game; you must play the game for the trophy.

  • Make the Hall of Fame in My Player Mode.

To make the Hall of Fame, you need to accomplish 2 or more team goals, 5 or more season goals and 5 or more career goals. Once you have accomplished a certain amount of goals, you can retire. You can retire by going to career decisions and select retire. When you retire, you will enter the Hall of Fame and then the trophy will unlock.

  • Win a World Series® in My Player Mode.

Once your "My Player" is in the 85+ overall range, you should have a good team around you. If you do not have a good team around you, then you can demand a trade to somewhere better.

I suggest playing the majority of your games to ensure you win 100 games to unlock A Job Well Done, or you can trade yourself to the team with the best record before the July trade deadline. Once in the playoffs, you can either sim or play the games till you win the World Series nabbing you What's Your Ring Size?.

Complete all off-season tasks to begin the next season. In the next season, you do not have to win 100 games but keep a lookout on the playoff picture to see if you will make the playoffs or not. You may need to play a few games in September to clinch a playoff spot. When the playoffs begin, you can either sim or play the games till you win the World Series for a second straight year nabbing you 2-Peat.

  • Win a Season award in Franchise Mode. (play at least 20 games)

If you are using your maxed out team (Team 1), then you should easily get at least one season award. The awards are given out at the end of the season. The awards are:

    AL & NL MVP
    AL & NL CY Young
AL & NL Rookie of the Year

  • Break a record in Franchise Mode. (play at least 20 games)

Using your maxed team, you should be able to break most if not all MLB season records. The easiest ones to target are At Bats (716) or Home Runs (70). After you have played 20 games and finish the regular season, you will have earned most if not all MLB season records and the trophy should appear before the start of the post-season.

  • Win a World Series® in Franchise Mode. (play at least 20 games)

Before selecting a team to play with in Franchise mode, I suggest you modify a team where all 9 batters and your 5 starting pitchers have max stats. With Max stats, you will be able to easily play 20 games (you can do 3 inning games or 9 inning games) and then sim the season.

Big thanks to Reys813fan for the quicker tip below:

"If you want to get through playing all 20-21 games quicker, then you can SuperSim games. Start the franchise game and right at the first pitch pause the game and select SuperSim. Use to SuperSim the whole game. When you return back to franchise home menu, your games played counter will have increased by one game."

With a team of max stars you should easily win your division to make playoffs and win an MVP award, thus getting You're Special.

Make multiple saves when you start the post-season in franchise mode, in case you sim and lose. If you played 20-21 games already, then you can sim all of the post season. When the post season is over you will have Remember Me and The Champs pop.

  • Get to the top of the Best of the Best ladder in Home Run Derby® Mode.

You will facing off against the top 20 home run hitters of 2012. You will want to edit a player to have max abilities in contact, eye and power to 99. Now use that player to face off against the top 20 Home Run hitters of 2012.

To make things easier you can edit the top Home Run hitters to have the least amount of abilities in contact, eye and power. The problem is, even though you edit the top home-run hitters, when you reach the top 5 of 2012 they can still hit 10 home-runs in a round. Because of this, you begin to drop off and struggle to hit Home Runs even though your player is maxed out. The great thing is the game does save, so you can come back where you left off last time and it gives you an opportunity to have a rematch.

If you are struggling even with editing the stats, you can try playing in two hitter friendly ball parks.

Yankee Stadium (Home of the New York Yankees)

    • Edit your batter to be left handed
    • Change the CPU batters to be right handed
    • When selecting the ballpark, change the wind to gusty
    • Before your first swing, pause the game and change the hitting from total control to classic
    • Hit to swing.

Minute Maid Park (Home of the Houston Astros)

    • Edit your batter to be right handed
    • Change the CPU batters to be left handed
    • When selecting the ballpark, change the wind to gusty
    • Before your first swing, pause the game and change the hitting from total control to classic
    • Hit to swing.

Here is the list of the top 20 homerun hitters of 2012 in order they appear in the mode
