Introduction

Mahou Shoujo Taisen -ZANBATSU- (aka Magica Wars -ZANBATSU-) is a free to play Vita game that was originally released on March 27, 2014. The player controls "???" [Amane Sakaki], a young girl who has lost her memories with the exception of one, the mission that she needs to carry out; which is something that she still doesn't understand. She is accompanied by her misaki "??" [Yamada] on her quest to find the other forty seven magical girls. In addition, the game also inspired a TV anime series that aired between April through September 2014 in Japan.

Trophy wise, this game is relatively both easy and time consuming due to the nature of grinding specialties, meeting new magical girls, completing specific in-game challenges, etc. However, you should keep in mind that there is also a trophy that requires the player to log in for ten days. In addition, specific updates to the game add trophies to the game's base trophy list (albeit not as DLC trophies unlike most games).

Server Closure / Trophy information

As of the server closure on December 22, 2015, this game's trophies will no longer become obtainable unless you have downloaded the version 2.44 patch (which is no longer available to download as of December 28, 2015). If you have the aforementioned patch downloaded, you will still be able to play the game and unlock the game's trophies.

It should also be noted that the game can no longer be re-downloaded from your Download List or through the PlayStation Store since the service has now ended.

    [Unrelenting Challenger]
    [Completed Each Challenge 500 Times]

NOTE: This trophy was added in version 1.03, which was released on April 22, 2014.

For this and the [Novice Challenger] trophy, you will need to clear each "?????" [Challenge] at least 500 times. Each mission in the game has three different challenges that the player will have the option of doing.

All challenges are optional and will consist of these tasks (The "X" in some challenges means that a specific action must be done a certain number of times in order to complete the challenge):

    • "??????????" [No Damage Clear]
      • Clear the mission without taking damage at least once.
      • This is the only challenge that you can fail on during normal gameplay.
    • "X???????????"X"???" [Collect "X" Light Souls without pressing ]
      • You will need to collect a specific number of "??" [Light Souls] without pressing to jump. The number of light souls you will need to collect while grounded is random and may or may not be different for each mission.
    • "???"X"??" [Reach a Hit Chain of "X" or more]
      • Your hit chain (designated by a number and "???" [Hit Chain]) must reach or exceed the number of hits needed to complete the challenge. The number of hits you will need to have in your hit chain is random and may or may not be different for each mission.
    • "???????"X"?????" [Defeat "X" enemies in a row while airborne]
      • This challenge requires the player to defeat a specified number of enemies in a row without dropping to the ground once. In the event where a player does drop to the ground, the challenge will be reset. The number of enemies you will need to defeat continuously while in the air is random and may or may not be different for each mission.
    • "???????????"X"?????" [Defeat "X" enemies by using Fusion Break]
      • You will need to defeat a specific number of enemies by using the "??????????" [Fusion Break] technique, which is done by pressing once depending on what magical girl you have equipped. The number of enemies that need to be defeated with that technique is random and may or may not be different for each mission.

Each challenge you clear will also help you earn specialty items that count toward the [Specialty Hunter] trophy. You can also look at which challenges the mission you're playing has by pausing the game.

  • 47都道府県の魔法少女とフレンドになった証ッス!

    [National Domination!]
[Met Forty Seven Different Magical Girls]

NOTE: This trophy was added in version 2.02, which was released on July 31, 2014.

There are a total of 47 "????" [Magical Girls] that the player will meet as they progress through the game and build up your "DP???" [DP Gauge], which can be found on the top-left corner in the Main Menu underneath the blue gems (which is the player's energy for playing missions):

The DP Gauge can be filled by completing missions. For example, easy missions will increase it by small increments, while harder mission will give more points to the DP gauge than an easy mission would. Once it has been filled up, you will be presented by one of two possibilities:

    • Meeting a new magical girl
    • Increasing a magical girl's level cap

In the case of you meeting a new magical girl, you will first see a silhouette of the character in question and the prefecture they reside in. These missions are known as "??????????" [Contact Missions], with each one requiring a specific level to be reached before starting each one, and upon completing them, you will unlock the magical girl and their weapon for use by the player.

You can also use a "???????" [Matchmaking Ticket] to instantly fill up the gauge, but be sure to save some if you are certain about meeting a new magical girl in a different region. Please refer to the following links for the complete list of magical girls in the game: JP/ENG.

For this trophy, you will need to acquire at least ten "????????" [Log In Stamps], which can be earned each time you log into the game. Each Log In Stamp comes with seven different items the player can collect from each stamp. A new stamp will be available once all seven items from a stamp card have been collected.

In addition, items that come from the stamps include Gacha tickets, consumable items, specialty items, etc. They change depending on whichever promotional event happens when playing the game.

Each mission will become available to play once specific conditions are met, such as reaching a specific level and/or meeting a specific number of magical girls.
