The budget series Heavy Fire is back with another on-rails military shooter. Heavy Fire: Shattered Spear is the follow up to 2011’s Heavy Fire: Afghanistan (HF:A). Both games are pretty much identical to each other. Just like with HF:A you can expect a short and modern military shooter. Returning are the sandy locals, authentic weapons, cover mechanics, action set pieces, and corny American Military lingo. Thankfully, Shattered Spear chose not to eliminate epic voice overs, you can count on this game to provide you with the cheesiest voice overs in recent history.

Shattered Spear is a offline only game although it does have online leader boards. Shattered Spear does feature local cooperative play as the game allows for up to four players simultaneously. Separate PSN profiles can sign into the game and their stats will carry over to their own profiles (locally saved profiles on the same PS3) but trophies earned will not carry over.

Note: This guide was written using the default settings for the normal Dualshock 3 controller. Shattered Spear has full Playstation Move support and it works pretty well with this game. Using both the Move and its optional navigation controllers works extremely well as these controls are both intuitive and accurate. That being said regardless of what control scheme you use, note that it will take you a couple missions before you feel truly conformable with the cover mechanics.

Glitch Notice: The radio collection trophies are semi-glitched. All 16 of the radios must be destroyed in one single sitting or the trophies will not unlock. See the Radio Silence trophy description in the trophy guide for more information.

Step 1 (Play through the campaign on Rookie and destroy all the radios):

The game has two difficulty settings; rookie and veteran. Play though the game on rookie as you must complete the game on rookie before you can play on veteran. The game is both short and simple. The game consists of 12 missions with none of them lasting more than 10 minutes long (they all average about 8 minutes each). After you complete all 12 missions on rookie you will unlock veteran mode.

While playing though the game on rookie, you should also destroy all radios (even though you will need to destroy the same radios twice). The radios act as collectibles and there are a total of eight (8) radios throughout the campaign. The radios can be found on missions 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, and 12. Important: Because of a glitch you will have to pick up all 16 radios in one sitting. See the Radio Silence trophy description in the trophy guide for more information and the radio locations.

You should also aim for headshots as much as possible to avoid any possible grinding later on.

During this step you will unlock the following trophies:

  • Multi-kill
  • Crowd Crusher
  • Big Flood
  • Chain Alpha
  • Slaughter
  • Ranger
  • Top Secret
  • Good Aim
  • Sharpshooter
  • Eagle Eye
  • Fragile World
  • Hawk Eye
  • War Hero
  • Base Defender
  • Apache Hero
  • John R.
  • Package Secured
  • Radio Breaker (Glitch warning – See trophy description in guide)
  • World Peace
  • Half Cleared

Step 2 (Play through the campaign again on Veteran and destroy all the same radios…again):

Play though the campaign again, but this time on veteran mode. Veteran Mode isn’t much more difficult than the rookie setting. Most normal enemies still die from a single bullet and all vehicle enemies still take the same amount of damage to destroy.

During this playthrough, you will also need to find and destroy all of the same radios you did in the in your first playthrough.

During this step you will unlock:

  • Marksman
  • Collateral Damage
  • Ordering Disruptions! (Glitch warning – See trophy description in guide)
  • Headhunter
  • Radio Silence (Glitch warning – See trophy description in guide)
  • All Cleared

Step 3 (Clean up):

Use this step to clean up any trophies you may have missed, skipped or need to mini-grind. All trophies can be obtained via mission select, but for your progress to save, you will need to reach the next checkpoint before you quit to the main menu. These trophies probably include:

  • Chain Beta
  • Chain Gamma
  • Waste
  • Demolition Addict
  • Trigger Happy

See their respective trophy descriptions for tips and strategies.

After completing all of these steps, congratulate yourself on your new shiny Trophy

*Pro Tip: If at any time during the game your health is too low or cannot pass a certain area because you do not have enough health, you can turn on another controller (or 3) to help you pass that area. Adding a drop in partner to the game divides the damage you take by 2. So if you have 2 controllers you essentially will have double health, even more so if you have 4 controllers then you'll have quadruple heath. Using this exploit, you should never find yourself unable to pass certain "difficult" parts of the game.

Thanks to DISCOKING for providing the above exploit.

  • Perform 50 total headshots.

    See Headhunter.

  • Perform 100 total headshots.

  • Perform 150 total headshots.

If you were consciously going for headshots during your two playthroughs, then you should unlock this trophy near the end of your second playthrough. If you still need this trophy after your two playthroughs, load up the 1st mission (Escape – Prologue) on rookie and take your time going through the mission only focusing on headshots. Repeat until you get the trophy.

Note: You can check the progress of this trophy at any time from your profile stats in the main menu.

  • Perform 4 splash damage kills simultaneously.

    See Slaughter.

  • Perform 5 splash damage kills simultaneously.

    See Slaughter.

  • Perform 6 splash damage kills simultaneously.

This trophy is basically un-missable. All you need to do to unlock this trophy is to kill six enemies with one explosion. You will more than likely get this trophy just by playing through the game and shooting an exploding red barrel or while you are firing rockets out of a vehicle. You would have to go out of your way to somehow not unlock this trophy. This trophy can also be unlocked in tandem with Chain Gamma.

  • Chain together 5 consecutive kills.

    See Chain Gamma.

  • Chain together 7 consecutive kills.

    See Chain Gamma.

  • Chain together 10 consecutive kills.

This trophy is easier to achieve then it sounds. The best mission to get this trophy on the 5th mission, Lakari Village - The Guardian Above. During this escort mission you will control the guns on an AC-130 Gunship. There are a few places within this mission where a 10 kill chain is possible.

I got my 10 kill chain after the first checkpoint (after you have killed to initial four enemies that were circled). Here's what I did:

    • After the 4 initial guys are killed you will see two groups of 3 enemies form group of 6 enemies together at the top of the screen. Checkpoint reached!
    • Once the group of 6 starts to split up (3 guys walk down away from the other 3), fire a rocket with into the center of those 6 guys.
    • Now immediately bring your reticule down to the bottom center of the screen, there will be a group of 4 enemies and 2 trucks. Fire a rocket with into the center of the group of 4.
    • Immediately, move you reticule down below and to the right of where the group 4 is and use your machine guns to kill the 2 enemies at the bottom of the screen.
    • This will net you 10-12 kills.
    • If you failed to unlock the trophy, then purposely fail to clear the "action time" circle. This way you can restart the last checkpoint which will bring you back to the perfect time and place to try again.

Others have unlocked the trophy during other portions of the mission. If my method isn't working for you, then you can try theirs.

  • Find and destroy 100% of special objects.

*Glitch Warning* These radio trophies are semi-glitched. All 16 of the radios must be destroyed in one single sitting or the trophies will not unlock. So if you destroy all 8 radios in the rookie campaign and then you quit the game, come back later and destroy the final 8 radios during the veteran campaign, the trophies will not unlock. Not only that, but you will need to go back and re-destroy the 8 radios you already destroyed in rookie again.

Yes, so basically you must destroy all radios at one time; if you need a break, you can't quit to XMB or turn off the game, but can can just leave the game in the main menu and continue when you're ready. Good news is all of the missions are short and you can save and quit after you have gone back and destroyed a radio, but make sure you reach a checkpoint before you quit the mission. This issue is being discussed here: Question about radio towers.

Now back to how we unlock this trophy.

There are a total of 16 radios in the game, 8 radios per playthrough. So follow the below guide to destroy all 8 radios during your rookie playthough. Once finished you will need to destroy the same 8 radios again but this time during your Veteran playthrough (Refer to the below picture to see what the radios look like).

There are two conformations pertaining to whether you destroyed a radio or not. The first one is obvious, the radio will looked destroyed. The second conformation is the game will alert both visually and with an audio cue. You will here radio static once a radio is shot and the bonus bar will alert you the message "250: Radio Down." If you die after destroying a radio but before reaching a checkpoint then you will have to destroy that radio again upon respawning. Below are all of the radio locations:

    • Mission 1: Escape - Prologue: Towards the end of the mission, you’ll be prompted to shoot at an explosive red barrel to kill multiple enemies and a pick-up truck. Before blowing up the barrel, take cover to the left by holding and look directly ahead of you. The radio is sitting on the ground at the foot of the building.
    • Mission 2: Naghlu Dam: After you exit the boat, you will ascend two sets of circular stairs. Continue past those stairs and climb two more sets of stairs. Kill the three enemies at the top of the stairs and you will take cover behind some boxes at the top of the final set of stairs. The radio is on left (about at your 10 O’clock) on a wooden crate. If you go inside the building then you’ve gone too far.
    • Mission 3: Lakari Village: At the beginning of the mission just after you exit the turret/Humvee, you will head into an area where you can shoot down a destructible object on a shack that will kill the enemies in front of you. Now you will move just to the right of that area where you will fight about six more enemies near a two-story dwelling. The radio is in this area. Take cover to the right by holding and you should see the radio just to the left of you on the ground. It’ll be hard to miss.
    • Mission 4: Lakari Village - Fallback: About a third of the way though the mission, you will put on your Night Vision Goggles. As soon as you do the radio will be right in front of you on the ground next to some shrubbery.

Note: If you are on your Veteran run and you've followed the guide correctly and destroyed all the radios up until this point you will unlock Ordering Disruptions (75%) now.

    • Mission 5: Vehicle Mission - No Radios
    • Mission 6: Chinook Crash: Shortly after taking out the heavy machine gun nest, you will run from a BTR and need to shoot off a lock to get into a mining system. A bit after entering the mine, you will need to dodge a mine cart by jerking the Sixaxis Controller to the right. You will now enter a mining section where there is a cart intersection; here you will need to fight some enemies. After clearing out the initial wave, you will move up into cover. You will now see a heath pack to your right; the radio is to your left on top of two wooden square crates just behind three enemies.
    • Mission 7: Gonapal Camp: Level 7 – About midway through the mission and a little bit after the first time you take control of a turret, you will go down a small embankment under a blue tent full of electrical generators. The radio will be in this area. After watching a couple enemies do some ninja dive-rolls, you will take cover while facing right and outside of the tent. The radio will be to your left on top of a couple of wooden crates. If you leave the tent and reach the second turret section with three Humvees in front of you, then you’ve gone too far.
    • Mission 8: Vehicle Mission - No Radios
    • Mission 9: Yazd - Assault: Level 9 – Once you see AH-64 (the attack helicopter), go down you will equip a sniper rifle. Now look directly ahead and you will see three enemies and the radio sitting on a few small crates.
    • Mission 10: Hind (Boss) Fight - No Radios
    • Mission 11: Vehicle Mission - No Radios
    • Mission 12: Underground: – Right after you destroy the first set of control panels, you will kill a few enemies and take a left down a corridor. Once the sliding door opens, an enemy will run out and the last radio will be sitting directly in front of you on the desk.
  • Fire 25,000 rounds of ammunition.

There is a good chance you will not unlock this trophy during your normal two playthroughs. This is a good trophy to save for last. Now if after you have completed the game and unlocked all of the other trophies, load up either mission 5 or mission 8 and just spray your machine guns until the trophy pops. But you should unlock this trophy with Trigger Happy while you are grinding missed shots.

Note: You can check the progress of this trophy at any time from your profile stats in the main menu.

  • Finish any mission with 5% or less accuracy.

Believe it or not but this is probably the most annoying trophy in this game. 3 methods will be provided on how to unlock this trophy. The first method is the easiest but it requires you to have 2 controllers.

    Method 1: Provided by theDane21

For "Trigger Happy" - use 2nd controller to shoot everything, fire off a some rounds w/ player 1 (@ nothing) and do the rest with player 2. EASY...

    Method 2: Provided by TOOSWEET919

(Load up mission 11 - Shattered Steel) If you only destroy the tanks that are required and just spam off shells and bullets without killing anybody, you should easily get it, I ended with exactly 5%.

Method 3: Best used in combination with unlocking Waste

Load up mission 8 "Strait of Hormuz"

    • At all times you should be firing your machine gun with into the air making sure not to hit anything.
    • When you get to the ships where you must destroy the turrets, only destroy the turrets with you rockets by pressing . Do not kill the guys on the boat; they can’t hurt you.
    • Once you reach the halfway point and start to provide air support over land Do Not fire at anyone, just put the reticule in the top right corner of the screen and hold down to keep firing off screen. When you get to the part where they order you to destroy the vehicles Do Not fire on the vehicles. Just keep firing off screen; that part cannot be failed.
    • Once you finish the over land section and continue on your turret destroying mission, continue to do what you did earlier; only shoot the turrets with rockets and avoid the people.
    • Now when you get to the destroyer (the really large ship that you are warned about), destroy all of the turrets in the back and middle but…
    • When you get to the front of the destroyer only destroy the white dome turrets that are attacking you. Do Not destroy the missile launcher turrets in the center section (see pics).

As you can see, I destroyed all of the white domed turrets that attack the chopper but left the two rocket launchers intact.

    Here is another angle

    • Leaving the missile launchers unharmed will make your helicopter strafe back and forth. You will not move on until they are destroyed. And right now you are perfectly safe, nothing can harm you so you have all the time in the world to fire off thousands of rounds into the abyss.
    • Put your reticule back up into the top corner and find a rubber band or something that will keep your button pressed down and walk away. Go make a sandwich, watch some TV, whatever you like. Leave the game for around 15 minutes.
    • When you come back to the game destroy the missile launchers to move on. Now destroy the last two dome turrets to finish the level and hopefully obtain this trophy.

I left my game running (and shooting) for 15 minutes and my final stats were: 10,461 shots fired, 50 kills, 3% accuracy. Probably not a good idea to try this during your normal two playthroughs. Just load up this level after you have finished the campaign trophies.

  • Score 15 long range kills in total.

    *Un-Missable* trophy. See Eagle Eye.

  • Score 50 long range kills in total.

*Un-Missable* trophy. You will unlock this during one of the helicopter escort missions. All kills during these missions are considered "long range."

  • Destroy 200 total destructible objects.

    See Demolition Addict.

  • Destroy 500 total destructible objects.

    See Demolition Addict.

  • Destroy 1000 total destructible objects.

More than likely you will not unlock this trophy during you're normal two playthroughs, but you can unlock it while trying to clean up some trophies. If you don't unlock this trophy while cleaning up Chain Gamma or Trigger Happy then load up mission 5 - The Guardian Above and destroy every building you can with rockets while firing from the AC-130 Hercules. Repeat until you obtain the trophy.

Note: You can check the progress of this trophy at any time from your profile stats in the main menu.
