Introduction
The plot for this game occurs two years after the events in the Ghostbusters II movie. The four Ghostbusters that you meet are Ray (Dan Aykroyd), Egon (Harold Ramis), Peter (Bill Murray) and Winston (Ernie Hudson) which are voiced by the same actors in both Ghostbusters movies. The Ghostbusters are recruiting a new member that they call 'Rookie' which you will be playing. In this third-person shooter you will be running around with your Proton Pack which is used to capture and destroy ghosts that roam New York. You will be aided by the veteran Ghostbusters to save the city.
The trophies most people have problem with are "Gozer's Most Wanted" and the "Overachiever", both are online trophies. The hardest career trophies are the "Are You A God?" and "Nice Shootin', Tex!" trophies. There have been several glitches with the trophies in this game, mainly the online trophies but if you update to the latest patch then there shouldn't be any problem.
Even though it's possible to do get the in one playthrough it's recommended to do two playthroughs, it's much easier and less frustrating that way. Both methods are described in this Road Map. If you are doing the two playthroughs method, then you can do either of them in any order. A playthrough takes about 3-5 hours. Doing the collectibles and the other trophies either in the playthrough or as chapter selection will take an additional 4-5 hours. You will get all story related trophies from either playthrough.
Read THIS post for more tips and info on glitches during multiplayer.
Walkthrough
One Playthrough
You can complete the game in one playthrough but that means that you have to complete Professional difficulty with less than $100,000 property damage. Playing on Professional could be very hard at some sections and adding that you can't hit the surroundings into the formula would be a huge challenge. It would be even faster if you do it on two playthroughs. If you still want to do it on one playthrough then continue reading, else you can skip this section and go to the 'Two Playthroughs' section.
Choose Professional difficulty so that you can get the "Are You A God?" trophy. While you play you should do as little damage as possible so you will get the "Nice Shootin', Tex!" trophy. Check the trophy description for tips on what to do.
If you want to do the rest of the trophies in this playthrough, check out the 'Clean Up' section.
When you have finished the game you should have both "Are You A God?" and "Nice Shootin', Tex!" trophies. Now use 'Replay Mission' and select first checkpoint of 'Times Square' mission. In this mission you should do as much damage as possible. Your goal is to make $3,000,000 and get the "The Destructor" trophy.
Two Playthroughs
- Playthrough 1 (Professional)
This playthrough is done to complete the "Are You A God?" trophy where you complete a career on hardest difficulty. So choose Professional when starting a new game. If you are uncomfortable with playing on the hardest difficulty as your first playthrough, you could instead do playthrough 2 first.
There are two other trophies that should be done in this playthrough and they are "The Destructor" where you do over $3,000,000 in property damage and "I Love You When You Rough-House!" where you destroy everything in a room. Both of these trophies can be done in the second mission which is 'Times Square'. If you didn't get "The Destructor" trophy after you have completed Times Square then you can continue destroying stuff in 'History Museum' mission. "The Destructor" can also be gotten with 'Replay Mission' if needed.
You can now choose if you want to do the rest of the trophies in this playthrough, in next playthrough or in clean up. Read the 'Clean Up' chapter if you want to do them in this playthrough. To make Professional difficulty easier you should do them in this playthrough since you will be able to buy upgrades faster by getting more money from the collectibles.
- Playthrough 2 ($100,000 Property Damage)
This playthrough is only to complete the "Nice Shootin', Tex!" trophy. You can do this on any difficulty but it's recommended to do it on easiest difficulty which is Casual. This trophy is missable in the sense that if you get more than $100,000 in property damage you must replay the game from the beginning.
You have also an option to do remaining trophies in this playthrough if you didn't do it in the previous playthrough. Read the 'Clean Up' chapter if you want to do them now.
Clean Up
All the offline trophies besides Nice Shootin' Tex" can be gotten through the 'Replay Mission' option.
There are three collectibles trophies that need to be followed in every mission. These are "Spores, Molds, and Fungus" where you find all the Cursed Artifacts, "Back Off Man. I'm A Scientist" where you scan all the ghosts and "Ghostbusters Drinking Game" where you must find all the Drinking Fountains. Check the trophy description for each corresponding trophy for more details.
Whilst you are going for the collectibles trophies you will receive a lot of cash which can be used to buy all the equipment upgrades. You will get "We Have the Tools!" together with all the other equipment trophies.
There is one trophy for each mission that can be earned. These are "Kosher!" in Hotel Sedgewick, "I Love You When You Rough-House!" in Times Square, "But the Kids Love Us!" in Public Library, "You Never Studied" in History Museum, "I've Quit Better Jobs Than This." in Return to Hotel Sedgewick, "Hedgebuster" in Lost Island and "One down, on the Ground!" in Central Park Cemetery. Check the requirement for each trophy when you start a new mission.
There are a few trophies that you can earn at any time as long as you have the required equipment, these are "Slam Dunk!", "Slime Dunk!", "Stasis Dunk!" and "Total Protonic Reversal". The "I'm a Ghostbuster, Not a Doctor!", "It's Slime Time" and "I Looked at the Trap, Ray!" trophies can also be done at any time.
Multiplayer
When you have finished a match in multiplayer the data isn't saved immediately. It's very important that you wait until the statistics have been updated before you start your next match. It can take a few seconds up to several minutes before your stats have been saved on the server. If you start a new match and finish the match before the stats have been updated, then it will overwrite your previous match data. Go to 'Statistics' from the main menu and take a note on your data to see if it has changed from previous check. All players that played in the match will get the update at the same time.
There are two trophies that you have to keep track on by taking notes while you are playing. These trophies are the "Gozer's Most Wanted" and the award-portion of "Overachiever". These two trophies are lengthy and will save frustration if you write down what you have completed. After you have completed a match and waited for the stats to update, make a note on what award you got and what job/location you completed.
Always play ranked matches. Even though most multiplayer trophies can be done in Campaign, it's better to choose Instant to avoid relaying on randomness. There is one trophy that can only be done in Campaign and that's "Payday!". After you have "Payday", concentrate on "Gozer's Most Wanted". Whilst going for "Gozer's Most Wanted" you will get almost all other the multiplayer trophies.
If you still have trophies left after you are done with "Gozer's Most Wanted" like "Overachiever" and "No Job Too Big" then it's time to finish them.
