Introduction:

Doki-Doki Universe is a fun little exploration/communication based game by the creator of ToeJam and Earl. There are a ton of collectables (most of which you earn by playing through the story) and it reminds me of the Scribblenauts games. It is cross a buy for PS3/4+Vita, the PS3 and Vita trophy list is shared and the PS4 has its own trophy list thus meaning you can 100% this game twice.

Step 1 - Complete The Story

Warning: This game does offer cross save between the 3 versions. If you play online with your PS3/Vita then play later on your PS4, it will say something along the lines of "the save data here is older than the save data on the server, would you like to update it"? If you select "Yes" your data will be updated but trophies will not auto-pop, you will lose all of your progress and be "updated" to the most recent save so be very careful. However this may enable you to save just before completing some of the trophies, update and complete the task but do so at your own risk.

Enjoy your playthrough of this game. There is no time limit, no way to fail, no wrong way to play. Do everything in any order you see fit (personally, I worked from left to right, clearing the planets in columns). Try your best to do everything you can do on each planet, and when you run out of summonables, move on to the next one. I suggest checking behind all the movable structures (liftable with ) to find all the presents before talking to anyone - it just makes it easier to keep track of what you have and haven't done.

By doing the bare minimum to finish the story (completing each "!" goal on the planets) you'll have unlocked the following trophies:

  • A Cactus with a porpoise
  • Out standing in his field
  • Family Reunion

You are more than likely to also have unlocked:

  • Dear QT3,
  • Enough about me...
  • There's no place like home
  • Nothing up my sleeve

Step 2 - Cleanup

Odds are, you'll already have a huge dent in most of these trophies just by playing through the game, but they may require some cleanup. The most time consuming trophy is going to obviously be Just like a real boy but provided you've taken your time and explored the planets thoroughly on your first trip to them, you should be well on your way to completing it.

  • And how does that make you feel?
  • Hello world... again
  • It's all my fault
  • Lay down on the couch
  • Shut up and take my bunny!
  • You're just a love machine...
  • Just like a real boy

  • Get green checks for all goals and presents on all planets in the full game.

Note: You do not need to complete all the quiz asteroids or buy the DLC for this.

This one is going to be the only frustrating one, not because its difficult but because it is tedious and time consuming. If you've unlocked Robodachi and gotten Family Reunion, you've already cleared the green colored checks for every planet. These checks are obtained by finishing all the goals and are needed to finish the game. After you finish, the odds are you'll have most of the red checks left to finish.

Red checks are obtained by finishing up the planets presents. While most presents are obtained by clearing the story and searching behind objects, you're going to have a handful on each planet that are only rewarded for extra communication with the characters. Some are rewarded for making them happy, some are rewarded for making them upset. Press to open your menu and select the present scanner to see who has gifts for you. If the gift has a heart, you need to make them happy. If the gift has a skull, you need to scare or disgust them.

You learn how to make them happy or sad by talking to the characters of the planet. Often times it is simple to make them happy - I got a lot of my gifts by simply doing their favourite greeting once. Making them upset is another story. After conversing with everyone as much as possible, check the character with the gifts information card (press and right to the index card) and it should show what they like or dislike. Do each according to the mood you need to get the gift.

I've found some characters have information that is frustratingly difficult to find. Even after talking to everyone on the planet, it seems their card hasn't been filled in at this point so you'll need to experiment. Feel free to post any frustrating characters you ran into and I'll edit them back into this guide. Most of them should come relatively easy and even if you don't have their card filled in, you can test out how they react to tilting or being thrown. If all else fails, start spawning random things and they'll react either positively or negatively.

I'll begin a list of the troubling characters below and add to it as people discover more information about them:

    Character - Planet - Summonable

    Baily - Buggabug - Sun

  • Unlock the story ending.

Upon completing all the GOALS on every planet (you don't need to have finished the presents) you will unlock the final planet Robodachi. You will get this before even completing the planet, since the story is for "unlocking the story ending" rather than actually completing the story.

  • Knock 30 characters down with World Tilts!

World tilts are performed either by shaking the DualShock controller or by drumming your fingers on the rear of the Vita. The game will show you "RUMBLE!" as you do this and when it says "TILT!", turn the controller/Vita from side to side. Sometimes the inhabitants won't be knocked over, just try it again. I would save this until later as a precaution - some characters love this, some hate it. I waited until after I had the planet cleared of presents and goals before doing this. To save time, pick the planets with the biggest populations.

  • Collect 250 summonables.

I got this on my second to last planet. I gathered all the presents hidden behind objects, and the ones obtained through the storyline. I was just about level 9 when I got it, if that helps give you some sort of time frame. Talk to everyone and do as much as possible before Robodachi and you should have this no problem. On the off chance you haven't gotten it by the time you've finished the story, you'll get it cleaning up the red checks for all the planets.

  • Discover all the preferences of a single character.

As you converse with the residents of each planet, you'll eventually learn some facts about one of them. Sometimes the characters will tell you something about someone else, sometimes about themselves. Each character has 2-4 things they like/dislike. Talk to everyone as much as possible, and you'll gather all the info you need for this trophy. You must fill in both likes and dislikes; acting on them is not required, just filling in the card. You'll definitely get this in going for Just like a real boy so there isn't any pressure to do it immediately.

  • Use up dust bunnies (Reach zero bunnies).

This is simple, just cause as much trouble as possible. Shake the screen up with rumble and tilt, spawn a bunch of stuff, just go crazy with it until you've ran out of dust bunnies. It might make people angry though so maybe save this one for last. If you do run out, you can fly around space and snag some presents as they all contain bunnies for your spending pleasure. When you hit zero bunnies, you'll get this trophy. You might not be able to rumble it down to zero, you might have to spawn something. Switch it up until it equals zero and you're set.

  • Place a decoration on your home planet.

You can get this immediately. Just open up your menu (press ) and select the icon that looks like a bench. It'll open your list of decorations, just pick one and it'll place it on your home planet. This is probably the first trophy you'll get.

  • Read a letter from any character.

As you progress through the game there will be a little envelope available for selection in the bottom right corner of your screen. If the envelope has a red number above it then you have a letter, this will happen very early on. If you'd like to avoid some hassle, don't let the game sync with your Facebook account; I made the mistake of allowing mine and it seems to take forever to connect, avoid this sync if you'd like as it has no benefit to the gameplay. Read your first letter (which I believe is from Alien Jeff) and the trophy is yours.

  • Get your quiz evaluation from Dr. Therapist.

After completing a handful of quiz asteroids, you'll see Dr. Therapist appear on your map screen near the lower left (when flying in space). You can press to teleport back to your home planet to meet with him. He will give you a brain analysis based on what your quiz asteroid test results have been.

  • Help Scarecrow throw a party for Persephone.

To achieve this trophy you must help the scarecrow on planet ERT reunite with his little bird friend Persephone. Talk to the scarecrow then Persephone and she'll tell you to ask her friend the Cactus something, you need to give Li' Cactus a yellow bunny summonable (which is located in the bush to the left of the gravestone on this planet) and she'll tell you that scarecrow forgot Persephones birthday. Now tell Scarecrow and he'll you to grab some balloons from Eggbert who'll give them right up, his uncle is dead so he's probably too depressed for balloons. Give her the balloons, walk with her to Scarecrow and follow the prompts. All is well again.

  • Help Cactus get a dolphin.

This will come through natural gameplay. On the planet Farroh you will meet a Cactus who asks you to see a dolphin. Simply complete the goal by summoning a dolphin (which is found on the same planet, somewhere near the Goddess statue) to pop the trophy. You shouldn't have any trouble locating and carrying this out.

  • Blow kisses to 20 different characters.

You get this by walking up to characters and selecting them ( or tap) and doing a circular motion to greet them. This doesn't have to be 20 characters whose favourite greeting is kisses, it can be the first 20 characters you run into. These count toward the Hello world... again trophy and will help give you a benchmark for where you are with its progress.

  • Greet 50 different characters.

This is another trophy you will definitely obtain in searching for the Just like a real boy trophy but you can feel free to get it out of the way early on. There are 3 different greetings performed by QT3 - wave, bow and kisses. Waving is achieved by moving left and right, waving is up and down and kisses are a circular motion (either on the rear touch pad or the right analog stick, dependent on which version you're playing). I had a lot of trouble blowing kisses with the Vita touch pad but it eventually worked. If you'd like to greet the first 20 with kisses, you'll also unlock You're just a love machine... in the process. You don't have to choose the recipients favourite greeting for this to pop.

  • Complete 25 quiz asteroids.

Scattered throughout the universe there are small asteroids, each one has a monk on it that asks you a handful of questions. There are no right or wrong answers, simply choose which one you like best. After answering, you can choose to hear why your results were chosen or you can back out to space (still counts if you don't stick around to see the explanations). You also get a decoration for your planet each time you complete one, simply do 25 of these to pop the trophy.
