Introduction

BreakQuest: Extra Evolution was originally released as a mini in 2012, and now comes as a freeware on the vita with 20 trophies. It's not your average breakout game. The level designs are amazing, and they are one by one unique and fun to play. There are 90 normal levels, 10 boss levels and 1 secret level. You get 33 balls for free, and you can buy more in the PSN store. There are also a lot of different power-ups and power-downs in the game, including 2 power-ups that look like 1/4 or 1/2 of the ball you're playing with. If you collect these, you can trade them in for more playable balls so you don't have to pay for them.

Roadmap

Step one: Beat all 100 levels
When you start the game, you are able to play 4 levels. Once you complete a level, more will unlock. Just play through all of these levels, and get to know the mechanics. Some levels are harder than others. Some will require some logic, and some will just require 'brute force', and you'll have to destroy everything. During this step, you will also come across 10 boss fights. Look for the corresponding trophy in the trophy guide for tips.
During this step you will obtain the most trophies:
"New hope"
"Crazzy Mr. Derrick cup"
"Mr. Volcanos cup"
"Mrs. Eggy cup"
"Mr. Edisoon cup"
"Mr. Peeler Caterpillar cup"
"Angry Mrs.Kraken prize"
"Mr. Mimic cup"
"Mr. OwlBot cup"
"Mr. Jollier cup"
"Mr. CMYK cup"
"Creatures slasher!"

And also most likely these trophies:
"Perfect set"
"Ballsmith"
"Epic fail"
"Millionaire"
"Multi-millionaire"

Step two: Beat the secret level

By pressing ++ in the level select screen, you will enter 'The Matrix'. After beating this level, you will receive the following trophies:
"Into the Matrix"
"Starfleet commander"

Step three: Play for 24 hours

This is probably the last remaining trophy you need. Even if you really like the game, 24 hours is quite a lot of gametime. You can either play for 24 hours or just enter a level, put a rubber band around one of the analog sticks so it won't fall asleep and leave it. This will earn you:
"24 Hours"

20 trophies ( 19  4  )

  • First level completed!

The easiest, and the first trophy you will receive. Just finish one of the first four available levels, and this trophy is yours.

  • Never lose a ball in the single level

Another trophy you will receive without a lot of effort. You must finish a level without losing your ball. Make sure you use your energy walls by pressing and , and you'll have this trophy in no time.

  • Defeated Crazzy Mr.Derrick

"Story related and cannot be missed"
'Crazzy Mr. Derrick' has an arrow above his head that you need to destroy, but before you can do this, you need to destroy his 2 lasers by hitting each laser 8 times. The lasers will paralyse you as long as you're hit. Derrick also shoots a paralysing and a control reversing power-down, so watch out for these.

  • Defeated Mr.Volcanos

"Story related and cannot be missed"
'Mr. Volcanos' is as you might expect, a volcano, but with eyes. Between his eyes, there are 6 arrows that you need to destroy, but his eyes block you from doing so. There are 4 stars in the area, and if you hit one of the stars, one of the eyes becomes partially invisible for a few seconds, allowing you to reach the arrows. Destroy the arrows, and you will earn this trophy.

  • Defeated Mrs.Eggy

"Story related and cannot be missed"
'Mrs. Eggy' flies around the top of the screen above her egg barrier, and shoots control reverse power-downs at you. The boss fight is quite easy. You need to break one of the eggs by hitting it 6 times (you do not need to break all of the eggs), and destroy the three arrows above Eggy's head.

  • Defeated Mr.Edisoon

"Story related and cannot be missed"
'Mr. Edisoon' is a floating head with 2 mechanical arms. There is an arrow in his mouth, there are three lightbulbs on his head, and 2 lightbulbs on each arm. First you need to destroy all seven lightbulbs, then you can shoot off his jaw and destroy his arrow/tongue, but he won't make this easy on you. He will move his arms in and out of the screen, and shoot control reversing power-downs at you.

  • Defeated Mr.Peeler the Caterpillar

"Story related and cannot be missed"
'Mr. Peeler the Caterpillar' has 12 body parts you need to destroy. He moves around like an old fashioned snake, and will speed up when you destroy more body parts. He stops every few seconds, and shoots 3 laser beams out of his rear end, and some flashlights out of his mouth. When he stops, he is invincible, and the laser beams are solid for your ball. You can pass through them, but when you do, you will move very slowly for a short period. If you get hit by the flashlight, you can't move at all. After destroying all 12 body parts, you need to destroy his laser-shooting end to finish him off.

  • Defeated Angry Mrs.Kraken

"Story related and cannot be missed"
'Angry Mrs.Kraken' has 4 annoying arms, 9 circles on her head, and shoots paralyzing parts at you. The arms don't do any damage to you, and they don't have to destroy them. All they do is annoy you, because they affect the course of the ball. To destroy the Kraken, you have to destroy the 9 circles on her head. The particles that she shoots will paralyse you for a second, so try to avoid them.

  • Defeated Mr.Mimic

"Story related and cannot be missed"
'Mr. Mimic' Shoots paralysing orbs at you, and is surrounded by three brick walls that you need to destroy, and has rotating shields protecting him and the bricks. There are also some random windmills you must destroy on both sides, and 2 blue arrows above Mr. Mimic. Once you destroy all of the bricks and mills, the blue arrows will turn red, and are the last things you need to destroy to complete this level.

  • Defeated Mr.OwlBot

"Story related and cannot be missed"
In the level, you will see a lot of red arrows in white hexagons. You need to destroy the arrows, but you need to destroy the hexagons first, and that's not possible as long as they're white. You need to hit 'Mr. OwlBot', so he loses one eye, and the hexagons will become pink for a short period of time. Now you need to hit as many as you can before OwlBot recovers. If you do not hit Mr. OwlBot, then he will start shooting a beam of light every now and then. If you get hit by the beam, you will lose your shuttle shield, making you smaller, and making it more difficult to keep the ball in the playing field.

  • Defeated Mr.Jollier

"Story related and cannot be missed"
Passive 'Mr. Jollier' has 12 circles on his face. 6 on his nose and 3 below each eye. The circles on his nose can be turned on and off. You need to switch all of them on at the same time to transform the 6 circles in 6 blue arrows. Each arrow is connected to one circle below the eye. To destroy the arrows, they need to be red first. You can make the arrow red by hitting the corresponding circle 5 times with your ball. You may also have to collect all of the small squares.

  • Defeated Mr.CMYK

"Story related and cannot be missed"
'Mr. CMYK'* is probably the most confusing boss fight. The level starts with a big black square with in the centre a question mark, and some floating blocks. Ignore the floating blocks, and aim for the big black square which is accessible from below and from the sides. You need to hit it quite often, and every time you hit it, it will shrink a bit. Once you hit it enough times, the real boss appears, which is a giant triangle made out of 4 triangle. Also the area changes, and a lot of small red triangles appear on the side and 2 triangles with eyes appear on top. Try not to hit the eyes as they will let go of some control reversing power-downs. The big triangle shoots paralysing power-downs. You need to destroy the three outer triangles first, and finally the middle one.

*CMYK stands for cyan, magenta, yellow, and key (black).

  • Received 1 000 000 score points

    See "Multi-millionaire" for more information.

  • Received 10 000 000 score points

You need to get 10 million points to get this trophy, and you'll most likely get this before beating all 100 levels. This is cumulative and very easy, since you'll get more than 100 000 on average per level. You can check your progress under 'current score' by pressing the PS button.

  • Finished all levels!

You need to complete all 100 levels in the level select screen. The includes all boss fights.

    - Casual
This is the basic shuttle and is unlocked from the beginning

Secret trophies

  • Created and activated 8 extra balls

You will receive 1/4 or 1/2 ball parts. In the pause screen or shuttle select screen, you will see the parts you've collected. If you have 4/4 parts, you can create an extra ball. You need to create 8 extra balls for this trophy.

  • Total play time: more than 24 hour

Most likely to be the last trophy you'll go for. After collecting all other trophies, you can either play for another 10-18 hours (depending on how long you've been playing already), or you can do as I did, and start up a game, and put a rubber band on one of the analog sticks, so the vita won't fall asleep. Now leave your vita and wait for the trophy to pop.

  • 50 balls lost

You will get 33 balls in the beginning, so it's not possible to get this trophy early on, unless you buy extra balls. However, you can create new balls when progressing the game. You will probably get this trophy before beating the last level. If you haven't, just replay any level, and lose all of your balls. Just make sure you create 17+ balls during the playthrough.

  • Discovered a secret level!

When in level select, press ++ to enter the secret level. You don't have to beat the level to get the trophy. You can also quit to the menu, but beating this level is required for the "Starfleet commander" trophy.

This is definitely the hardest level in the game. To beat this level, you must line up 1 or 0 in every row for it to disappear. After removing all the 0/1 lines, you must switch the 3 buttons to ok, and all you have to do now is destroy the computer chip.

    Tips on beating this level:
    - Try to remove the bottom horizontal line, as this line is the hardest to remove.
    - If you have enough balls, and you are having trouble with removing the bottom line, then shoot the brick you want and dodge the ball and repeat. You will lose a lot of balls this way, but it's easier to beat 'The Matrix'
