Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China is the first of three games for the Chronicles series of Assassin’s Creed games. This game differs from previous instalments in that it is a 2.5D side scrolling game. The games mechanics and style is similar in that it is still primarily a stealth based game, with the ability to engage in combat through variety of attack manoeuvres. The story follows Shao Jun in the year 1526, during the downfall of the Ming Dynasty. After being trained by the familiar Ezio Auditore de Firenze, Shao Jun returns to her homeland to seek revenge on the Templar Group Eight Tigers, who have wiped out the Chinese Brotherhood.

The trophies for Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China are quite straight forward and shouldn’t challenge you to much. You are looking at a minimum of two playthroughs for the 100%. The game is primarily a stealth game so during your first playthrough, get used to avoiding combat situations by staying in the dark areas and learning enemy movement patterns. For your second playthrough when aiming for the highest score in each level you will earn the most points by avoiding any form of combat.

Step 1: Play through all 12 Memory Sequences attaining all collectibles

For the first step you will want to play through all 12 Memory Sequences whilst obtaining all collectibles. There are numerous combat related trophies which you should focus on as well, these will require you to kill or hide from a certain number of enemies and the majority should unlock through natural progression of the game but they are worth being aware of before you start in order reduce any post game grinding.

At the end of this step you will have unlocked the following trophies:

Step 2: Play through all 12 Memory Sequences in Plus Game Mode achieving highest score and fastest time for each level

Plus game mode is unlocked once you complete the game on Normal. You will retain all abilities and upgrades that you obtained in your first playthrough. When you replay each memory sequence, you will want to achieve the highest score and/or fastest time possible.

At the end of this step you will have unlocked the following trophies:

Step 3: Clean up remaining miscellaneous and Memory Sequence specific trophies

For the final step you will work towards any outstanding miscellaneous trophies you are yet to unlock from Step 1. This includes the three Memory Sequence specific trophies which you may not have obtained naturally.

  • Assassinate Gao Feng.

    Story related, cannot be missed.

    You will assassinate Gao Feng at the end of Memory Sequence 1: The Escape.

  • Complete Assassin's Creed® Chronicles: China.

    Story related, cannot be missed.

    You will unlock this trophy once you have completed the final level, Memory Sequence 12: Vengeance.

  • Complete every memory in the Plus or Plus Hard Game Modes.

    Plus and Plus Hard game modes unlock once you have completed the game once. You will retain all the abilities and upgrades in which you obtained during your first Normal playthrough of the game. For this trophy simply play through the 12 Memory Sequences again in either Plus or Plus Hard. I suggest playing through on Plus mode as it is easier than Plus Hard and it won’t cause you as much grief when you trying to achieve the highest score and the fastest time for each memory sequence for the The Completionist trophy.

  • Achieve the highest score and fastest time in each memory.

    For this trophy you must achieve either the highest score or the fastest time in each memory sequence. Memory Sequences 5, 10 and 12 will require you to beat a certain time, whilst the remaining Memory Sequences will require you to beat a certain score. Your score for each level are based on how you kill or evade memories. You score the most points if you Shadow past your enemies, i.e. remain undetected and don’t kill them. This is then followed by Assassination and Brawl. You will want to avoid engaging in enemy combat as much as possible as you score the least amount of point per kill. Completing the secondary objective in each memory sequence will also award you with extra points as well. In order to attain the highest score in each Memory Sequence you will need to virtually Shadow Gold your entire way through the level. The maximum score for each level can be viewed at the statistics screen once you have completed the Memory Sequence.

    Tips for obtaining a high score:

    • Remain out of sight and do not get detected by enemies.
    • Avoid combat at all costs, and try to keep assassinations to a minimum.
    • Look out for dark places to hide in, as well as poles and bushes to hide behind. Structures that you can use to hide yourself will have a green glow to them.
    • If at any point you are spotted you can restart the checkpoint in the pause menu and try again.
    • Watch enemy movement patterns before you plan your route so you know when you hide.
    • Use your full array of abilities to distract enemies, especially the firecracker, whistle and noise dart.

  • Kill 100 enemies using the Helix Kill.

    You will unlock the ability to use the Helix Kill once you have finished the game through once i.e. at the end of Memory Sequence 12: Vengeance. A new meter will appear below your health bar at the top left of the screen. This is your Helix meter and it can be filled by picking up Helix shards (see screenshot below). In order to perform a Helix Kill black at attack by pressing + , and then press + at the same time to engage Helix Kill mode. When an enemy is in range press or to deal a single killing blow. You should focus on these kills during your second playthrough of the game or once you have obtained the high score for each Memory Sequence as combat kills do not reward you with many points towards your overall score. Once you have killed 100 enemies using the Helix Kill, the trophy will unlock.

    A good place to grind these kills is in Memory Sequence 6: The Search. Once you pass through the gate, get alerted by the enemies on your right and 3 more enemies will spawn to your left, totalling 5-6 enemies. Activate the Helix Kill and and kill all enemies. Restart the checkpoint and complete the same thing again until you have unlocked the trophy. See Smash And Stab for a video.

  • Slide assassinate 25 enemies.

    You will unlock the slide assassination at the end of Memory Sequence 4: The Slaver. In order to perform a slide assassination you need to be running by holding and then press to slide and then when sliding close to an enemy press or to perform a slide assassination. Once you have killed 25 enemies with this technique the trophy will unlock.

  • Shadow Gold past 30 patrols.

    In order to Shadow Gold you must pass a guard undetected and not engage in combat, including taking enemies down via assassinations. Each guard has a line of sight which you can see. When it is white in colour they are unaware of your presence, when it is yellow that are aware of a noise or distraction nearby and when it is red they are aware of your presence and location. You must get past a guard without their line of sight turning red or yellow. It must be white when you leave the area the guards are in. There are numerous ways to get past a guard without them detecting you, these include:

    Whistle:

    To use you whistle, hold then move the to the right to increase the area in which the whistle can be heard and then press to perform the whistle. Once the patrol guard has moved sneak past his line of sight without being detected.

    Firecracker:

    In order to throw a firecracker press to select it. Then hold and use the to aim and to throw the fire cracker. This will temporarily distract the guards line of sight allowing you to run past him.

    Noise Dart:

    The noise dart is unlocked at the end of Memory Sequence 1. To equip it press , then hold and move to aim it. Press to throw it and distract the guard. The guard will be alerted to the area in which you threw the dart and once he is distracted, sneak past him.

    Hiding in the shadows:

    Often you will come up behind a guard and you can hide in the shadows by pressing if there is a dark area behind them. Once the guard looks the other way you can then run past him and avoid his line of sight and remain undetected.

    When you successfully perform one of the above mentioned methods to get past a guard, a notification will appear in the bottom right hand corner of the screen informing you that you have achieved a Shadow Gold. Once you have done this 30 times, the trophy will unlock.

  • Escape alerts 30 times.

    When an enemy is aware of your presence their line of sight will turn red and an 'alert' notification will appear at the top of the screen. Under this notification will be a timer of 10 seconds. Once this reaches 0 the guards will no longer be alerted to your presence and their line of sight will return to white. At this point you would have successfully escaped an 'alert'. Once you do this 30 times the trophy will unlock.

    You can farm these at any point in the game as long as you can easily get to a safe location once an enemy has spotted you. An easy location to do so is during Memory Sequence 3: The Port. See the following video by Aylown Dot for the exact location:

  • Escape the burning port in under 5 minutes.

    This trophy can only be obtained in Memory Sequence 4: The Port. The level is quite short and very linear. All you have to do is run to the end of the level and if you come across any enemies, just slide assassinate them by running with and then pressing to slide and then or to assassinate. You must finish the level with a time less than 05:00 minutes. You cannot track your time during the mission but you shouldn't have any problems obtaining this trophy.

  • Assassinate all enemies in the ambush in Memory Sequence 8 without taking a single hit.

    This trophy can only be obtained at the very end of Memory Sequence 8: Hunted. You will need to defeat 7 guards split over three levels without getting hit a single time. The easiest way to do this is to take out the enemies via assassination as opposed to straight out combat, as you are far less likely to get hit if you avoid engaging in combat. Be sure to take your time and learn here each enemy moves. You want to take each enemy out when they are on their own so other guards aren't alerted to your presence.

  • Save all the Concubines in Memory Sequence 9.

    This trophy can only be obtained in Memory Sequence 9: An Old Friend. You will need to rescue all 3 of the Concubines, which are female hostages. This is associated with the secondary objective of the level. It doesn't matter how you kill the enemies that are guarding each hostage. Once you get to each one hold to free them.

  • Complete Memory Sequence 11 without being seen.

    This trophy can only be obtained in Memory Sequence 11: The Betrayal. You must complete the entire level without being detected by any enemies. This means that their line of sight turns yellow or red you will need to restart the checkpoint. You are can use firecrackers and noise darts as these don’t alert the enemies to your location/ presence. However, avoid throwing daggers as the enemies will know exactly where you are once you throw them.

    As you pass sections of enemies, a small statistics screen will display in the bottom right hand corner. One of the statistics will be "Times seen". You need to make sure this remains at 0 for the entire level. If at any point it isn't on 0 then restart the checkpoint or the level.

  • Hide 50 bodies.

    In order to hide a body you must press to pick it up and then carry it and hide it in an area where it won't be found by other patrolling guards. For example: If you are in front of a dark area, press to throw the body in this area. You can also hide them in large crates. If you perform an assassination on a guard from a dark area, you will automatically hide the body in the dark area. This trophy will likely come through natural progression of the game depending on your play style.

  • Collect all the Animus Shards.

    In total there are 112 Animus Shards which you need to collect across the 12 Memory Sequences. These collectibles are saved automatically once you collect them so if you die you won't need to backtrack from the last checkpoint.   • Open all Scroll Chests.

    In total there are 16 Scroll Chests that you will need to collect across the 12 Memory Sequences. To open these you need to hold in front of them. These collectibles are saved automatically once you collect them so if you die you won't need to backtrack from the last checkpoint.   • Assassinate 100 enemies.

    In order to assassinate an enemy you need to press or either behind, below or from above once you have unlocked the ability. An Assassination will immediately kill the enemy, meaning you will avoid having to engage in combat. After sneaking past enemies, this is the most efficient way of passing enemies in the game. You can use your firecrackers, whistle or noise darts to distract enemies to help you assassinate them undetected. Holding as you move will help you to sneak up on enemies without making noise. This trophy will most likely unlock through natural progression of the game.

  • Kill 100 enemies in combat.

    In order to engage an enemy in combat you must let them see you so you can fight them. In order to fight you press for normal attack and for a heavy attack. Some enemies can only be defeated in certain ways which you will learn via small tutorials as you progress through the game. You will unlikely unlock this by the end of your first playthrough as you should be focusing on assassination and shadow kills.

    A good place to grind this trophy post game, along with Enemy Of My Enemy and I Fear No One is just after the first gate in Memory Sequence 6: The Search. Alert the enemies to the right and then move to the left to see another 3 guards appear. You should then block the enemy's attack and activate Helix Kills by pressing + . This way you will work towards 2-3 trophies at one time.

  • Inflict friendly fire from projectiles on 50 enemies.

    For this trophy you must successfully dodge enemy projectiles e.g. ninja stars or crossbows and let them hit another enemy. As such you will need to engage in combat with enemies on either side of you. That way when you dodge a projectile coming from one side it will hit the enemies on your other side. In order to dodge/ evade a projectile press + in the direction of which the projectile is coming. You will unlikely unlock this trophy through natural progression on your first playthrough, but it can quickly and easily be grinded post game. Please see the Smash And Stab for more information.
