Section 2. Introduction

Zone of the Enders HD is the first of two games of the Collection and originally came out on the PS2 in 2001. The game is very short and there are plenty of trophies packed into it, almost half of which can be missed. The two big trophies to miss will require you to earn an A rank on all 5 rescue missions and collect all sub-weapons. That second one doesn't sound difficult but there is one sub-weapon that is available for only select times and you must get it while it's available or miss out on it. The best news is that you can earn the platinum within one playthrough if you manage to perform everything required of you.

Section 3. Walkthrough

Important Links

One Playthrough Guide for a step-by-step walkthrough to obtain the platinum.

Leveling up / Life Restore

When playing the game you will gain experience by defeating enemies and when you gain enough experience you will level up. Leveling up gives Jehuty a small gain in attack and defense power and the highest level you can reach is 7. If the game is too difficult you can farm experience by entering an area, clearing it of all enemies, leaving the area, then re-entering it. If there is any part of the game you are having difficulties with, feel free to grind experience and gain a few levels to make Jehuty stronger.

There is also a code you can use to replenish Jehuty's life. Be warned that every time you use this code, Jehuty's level will go down by one. Since Jehuty cannot go below level 1, you can only use this code at level 2 or higher.

Life Regain Code

Pause the game and enter; :l1: :l1: :l2: :l2: :l1: :r1: :l1: :r1: :r2: :r1:

How you're graded

Two of the trophies in the game require you to clear the game with a specific grade and the higher grade does not earn you the lower grade trophy. You can earn both trophies in a single playthrough but you must understand how you're being graded. You are graded based on the 5 Rescue Missions and how many continues you use.

The Rescue Missions give you a letter grade and your grade is averaged between those; while your continues can only bring your grade down if you use too many continues. It takes roughly 5 continues to bring your overall grade down a full rank.

Step 1 - One Playthrough

To start off you're going for the Valedictorian trophy so you must be playing on Hard difficulty or higher. If you must use a continue, do not use 5 or more; you're free to save so using continues shouldn't be a concern. If you want to get everything be sure to save before entering Town 1 for the first time; you can also re-enter Factory 1 and grind enemies to level up if needed. Any damage caused during the Tempest fight will carry over to the eventual Rescue Mission in Town 1, so keep that damage to a minimum. You should also save before entering any other Rescue Mission as they can be difficult at times.

Be sure to check out Gun Runner as one of the weapons can be missed entirely as it only appears at select times. You should also be sure you're ready when entering Mountain 1. Once you clear it, if you're past the point of no return, anything you missed prior to that is no longer achievable. One final note is be sure to make a save in Hub 1, that's the area after the second Neith fight. Be sure to let the game make a clear save after the credits.

Step 2 - Wrap Up

If you obtained everything on your first playthrough, there are only a few select trophies here; all are obtainable by simply dying a few times. Load up your Hub 1 save and die several times to rack up some continues; 5 continues is sufficient to meet this criteria. Once you've continued enough, clear the game one final time for the remaining trophies. If you missed anything in the Step 1 you will have to start a new game and earn it.

Win your first encounter against Neith

This trophy is storyline related and cannot be missed. At the start of the game Neith will approach you once you destroy a few enemies, defeat it to earn this trophy.

See Boss Data for details.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1056/562.jpgLearn Gooder (B)

Complete all the in-game tutorials

(Missable) This trophy is available after accessing the server in Factory 1 after the Neith fight. You are given tutorial lessons after defeating your first Raptor but not all the lessons are available until accessing the server. To clear a lesson simply select it and listen to ADA's advice or skip it to get credit for clearing it; clear all the lessons to earn this trophy. This is the only time you can go through these tutorials so be sure not to miss it.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1056/9BA.jpgHomecoming King (S)(H)

Defeat Tempest

This trophy is storyline related and cannot be missed. Immediately after leaving Factory 1 you'll have to go to Town 1 and fight Tempest. How well you do in this fight directly affects your possible ranking in a future Rescue Mission, so if you're going for Damage Control be careful when fighting him.

See Boss Data for details.

Achieve an A Rank in any Rescue Mission available

(Missable) This trophy is available upon completing any Rescue Mission with an A Rank. The first Rescue Mission is available after defeating Tempest and leaving Town 1. The requirements for earning an A Rank is to defeat all enemies in an area with less than 10% of damage to buildings and 0% casualties.

See Rescue Mission Data for additional information.

Take out the EPS relay blocks before eliminating any enemies

(Missable) This trophy is available in two parts and requires you to kill nothing in City 1 until you bring the EPS relay down. When you first go to City 1, ADA will explain there is nothing you can do here for the time being so leave the area. Head to Town 2 to collect the Sniper Rifle then return to City 1. Now without killing any enemies, destroy all 8 white spots on the EPS Relay with the Sniper Rifle to earn this trophy. There are two squads in the area that will move within combat range; one is close to the tower while the other hugs the outer wall. If they engage you, press :l1: to disengage and move towards/away from the Tower to shake them.

Defeat 10 enemies while controlling the Raptor

(Missable) This trophy is available only while you control the Raptor to infiltrate EPS 2. Once your Raptor gets to the area there will be several squads flying around; defeat 10 enemies amongst them to earn this trophy. This trophy may seem difficult but the enemies in the area are very susceptible to the dash-slash. This attack keeps you mobile and they rarely block or dodge it. If your energy gauge gets low attempt to kill a patrol with Metatron to restore your energy gauge.

Destroy the Power Facilities in EPS1 & EPS2

This trophy is storyline related and cannot be missed. You'll earn this trophy after destroying the emergency generator in EPS 1 and using the Raptor to destroy the emergency generator in EPS2.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1056/31A.jpgUnhealthy Behavior (G)(H)

Defeat 10 enemies while under the influence of the Virus

(Missable) This trophy is only available between escaping from Tyrant's ambush and cleansing the Virus from ADA. At most you will be required to defeat one Lv.1 Raptor before clearing the Virus, this means you need to combat at least 9 enemies willingly. While there are numerous enemy patrols in the area with the vaccine server, they're of reasonable level and can be a little difficult to shoot down. Immediately after escaping Tyrant, there is a Rescue Mission with a total of 5 Lv.1 enemies you can take down. You can also search other areas like Factory 1 for low level enemies. The problem with fighting enemies is while you're infected you can't heal and it takes 1 hit to kill you. So take it slow and fight smart to defeat 10 enemies and earn this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1056/CDC.jpgAnti-Virus (B)(H)

Get ADA back online using the Vaccine

This is a storyline related trophy and cannot be missed. Once prompted to head to Mountain 1 you'll be ambushed by Tyrant and placed into a fight with him. It's a fight you cannot win so simply leave the area. On the map menu you'll see ADA is infected with a virus and you need to cleanse it. Head to Factory 2 and go to the underground path to access the server with the vaccine.

There is a Rescue Mission that's available immediately after escaping Tyrant. There are only 5 enemies total in the mission and they're all level 1. If you are aiming for all the trophies, do not rush getting the Vaccine and skip this Rescue Mission.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1056/7DB.jpgDamage Control (G)

Earn an A Rank in all 5 rescue missions

(Missable) This trophy is easily missable as the Rescue Missions are only available for a short time once they appear and neglecting them will give you a low rank. You can also miss this trophy by not performing well enough in a Rescue Mission. The most difficult part is ensuring you minimized damage in Town 1 during the Tempest fight. But pull off an A Rank in all 5 missions to earn this trophy upon completion of the fifth mission.

See Rescue Mission Data for additional information.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1056/AF3.jpgThe Bigger They Are (S)(H)

Defeat Tyrant

This is a storyline related trophy and cannot be missed. Tyrant is the second massive boss you fight and you'll first encounter him when he ambushes you. You can't win when he ambushes you so fly away and follow the story until you have the Decoy sub-weapon, then you're ready to fight him. Defeat him to earn this trophy.

See Boss Data for details.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1056/2E2.jpgNebulous (S)(H)

Defeat Nebula

This is a storyline related trophy and cannot be missed. Nebula is the third and final massive boss you fight at the top of Mountain 1. Defeat him to earn this trophy.

See Boss Data for details.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1056/34E.jpgYou Again?! (S)(H)

Win your second encounter against Neith

This is a storyline related trophy and cannot be missed. Neith's second fight is more difficult than your first encounter and happens automatically after all the cutscenes after defeating Nebula. Defeat her again to earn this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1056/96D.jpgBomb Squad (S)

Disarm all the bombs in HUB 1 correctly

(Missable) This trophy is only available immediately after the cutscenes that follow the second Neith fight. You'll be in a cylindrical room with enemies and bombs. The first thing you should know is it takes Jehuty roughly 15 seconds to scan for a bomb and once discovered a bomb has a 45 second fuze until it blows up, and it takes Jehuty 5 seconds to disarm the bomb. The bombs fuse will pause when Jehuty grabs it. Successfully disarm all the bombs to earn this trophy.

When this area starts, there are 2 enemies in the room and a new squad of enemies spawn every time Jehuty finds a bomb. If your combat skills are lacking the best strategy is to let the Mummyheads survive and destroy the Cyclops and Raptors; I recommend this as Mummyheads are slow and will not be able to reach you if you need to disarm a bomb while enemies are still around. If an enemy attacks you while disarming you will drop the bomb and risk it exploding.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1056/EA3.jpgThird Time's the Charm (S)(H)

Defeat Zombie Neith

This is a storyline related trophy and cannot be missed. Zombie Neith is vastly different from regular Neith and will attack you upon disarming the last bomb in HUB 1. Defeat Zombie Neith to earn this trophy.

See Boss Data for details.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1056/CBD.jpgWinning (G)(H)

Survive the battle with Anubis

This is a storyline related trophy and cannot be missed. Anubis arrives to fight you immediately following the Zombie Neith fight. This isn't a fight as much as it is a stay away stay alive trial. You can't even fight back so just focus on dodging his attacks. Survive long enough and Anubis will get a free hit on you. Once that happens you just need to survive 15 more seconds and you'll have earned this trophy. Anubis can't actually kill you during this event; his attacks deal percentage damage based on Jehuty's current energy and can't actually finish you off.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1056/725.jpgSalutatorian (S)(H)

Achieve an Overall Evaluation grade of B

(Missable) Your Overall Grade is based on several factors; an average of your Rescue Mission grades, what difficulty you play on, and how many continues you use. To earn a B you'll need to play on Normal difficulty at least and earn top marks on the Rescue Missions while keeping your continues low. This rank is easier to pull off on higher difficulties as the highest possible grade goes up making a B less skill dependent. If going for all trophies in a single playthrough you should play on Hard and earn an A Rank first, then reload a save at HUB 1, die 5 times and choose to continue each time before completing the game again. This trophy does not stack with Valedictorian.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1056/DEC.jpgValedictorian (G)(H)

Achieve an Overall Evaluation grade of A

(Missable) Your Overall Grade is based on several factors; an average of your Rescue Mission grades, what difficulty you play on, and how many continues you use. To earn an A you'll need to play on Hard difficulty at least and earn top marks on the Rescue Missions while keeping your continues low. This rank is easier to pull off on a higher difficulty as the highest possible rank goes up making an A less skill dependent. To earn an A Rank on Hard you will need an A in all 5 rescue missions and less than 5 continues. It is reported that you can earn a B in one of the rescue missions, but you should aim for an A Rank in all 5 since you will also need Damage Control for the platinum. This trophy does not stack with Salutatorian.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1056/A77.jpgPorter Pounder (S)

Destroy 40 Porters

(Missable) This trophy is easily missable but has plenty of room for error and it's only missable once you commit yourself to clearing Mountain 1. You'll earn this trophy for clearing most of the Porters in the game of which there are only 48 of. Luckily this will come naturally in your pursuit of Hacker and Gun Runner as you will have to destroy many of them to get the weapons and passcodes.

Porter Locations

[spoiler=PorterPounder]

Town 2: 6 Porters (06/40)

After leaving City 1 in search of the Sniper Rifle head to Town 2. Clear out the Porters to access the Sniper Rifle.

EPS 1: 10 Porters (16/40)

After destroying the EPS Relay in City, EPS 1 has 10 Porters that give access to pass_halberd.

EPS2: 6 Porters (22/40)

When controlling the Raptor you'll pick up detector.fcmd; once obtaining this you'll be able to see invisible Porters. Destroy them to access Metatron.

City 2: 9 Porters (31/40)

Once this area is available you can clear the Porters that give access to pass_comet.

EPS2: 6 Porters (37/40)

Once you reclaim detector.fcmd from the Raptor you comandeered you'll see invisible Porters upon leaving the underground passage. Destroy them to access pass_gauntlet.

Factory 2: 11 Porters (48/40)

Once you reclaim detector.fcmd from the Raptor you comandeered you'll see invisible Porters in this area. Destroy them to access Decoy Ammo.

Find 7 passcodes

This trophy is not missable as you will find at least 7 passcodes while going through the normal game. If you earn every passcode available as soon as possible this trophy should be awarded when you're knocking out the two EPS stations.

See Hacker for additional details.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1056/274.jpgHacker (S)

Find 14 passcodes

(Missable) This trophy is one of the easily missable trophies but has plenty of room for error as it's only missable once you commit yourself to clearing Mountain 1. You'll earn this trophy once you collect all 14 passcodes; a passcode is easily identifiable among all the files you collect as they all read as pass_####.

Passcode Locations

[spoiler=Hacker]

#01. pass_global (Factory 1)

At the start of the game after fighting off Neith, destroy one of the patrols in the area for the passcode.

#02. pass_phalanx (Town 2)

Once Town 2 is accessible, destroy a patrol to earn the passcode.

#03. pass_antilia (Factor 1)

Once you defeat Tempest you'll go back to Factory 1, destroy a patrol to earn the passcode.

#04. pass_javelin (Town 1)

Once you defeat Tempest, destroy a patrol to earn the passcode.

I suggest coming back during (or after) the Rescue Mission so you don't risk destroying too much of the town and ruining your chance for an A Rank.

#05. pass_geyser (City 1)

After destroying the EPS Relay, destroy a patrol to earn the passcode.

#06. pass_control1 (EPS 2)

After going underground and being stopped by the field, exit the underground and a patrol will show up; destroy the patrol for the passcode.

#07. pass_halberd (EPS 1)

There are 10 Porters in the area, destroy them to reveal a box holding the passcode.

#08. pass_control2 (Town 1)

After going underground and being stopped by the field in EPS 2, destroy a patrol to earn the passcode.

#09. pass_comet (City 2)

Once City 2 is accessible, destroy a patrol to earn the passcode.

#10. pass_vaccine (Factory 2)

Once infected with the virus, approach the server and destroy the Raptor that ambushes you to earn the passcode.

#11. pass_decoy1 (City 2)

After clearing ADA of the virus, destroy a patrol to earn the passcode.

#12. pass_gauntlet (EPS 2)

After reclaiming detector.fcmd from the Raptor you commandeered, there will be 6 Porters directly outside the entrance to the underground; destroy them to access a box with the passcode.

#13. pass_decoy2 (Town 3)

After reclaiming detector.fcmd from the Raptor you commandeered, you will be able to see the stealthed enemies; destroy a patrol for the passcode.

#14. pass_bounder (Mountain 1)

From the start of the area go straight (not the path to your right) and destroy the patrol at the end of the path (Two "S" type Cyclops).

See Gun Runner for a video guide.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1056/9E1.jpgWeapon Finder (S)

Find 5 sub-weapon drivers

(Missable) This trophy is missable as only 2 sub-weapons are required to clear the game, however they are easy to obtain as long as you put a little effort in to collect passcodes and access servers. This trophy is only missable as soon as you commit yourself to clearing Mountain 1, anytime before that this trophy is able to be earned. Simply collect 5 of the weapons to earn this trophy.

See Gun Runner for additional details.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1056/8CE.jpgGun Runner (S)

Find all 10 sub-weapon drivers

(Missable) This trophy is extremely missable as one of the required weapons is only available at specific times, most of which are also during Rescue Missions and skipping the Rescue to collect the weapon can result in casualties. However there is a time it is available without anything else to get in your way. If you miss it that time there is only one other way to get it and that's based on random chance so it's best to get it when it's guaranteed. Collect all 10 weapons to earn this trophy.

Weapon Locations

[spoiler=GunRunner]

#01. Phalanx (Town 2)

Once Town 2 is accessible, destroy a patrol for the passcode and access the server for this weapon.

#02. Javelin (Town 1)

Once you've killed Tempest you can destroy a patrol for the passcode and access the server for this weapon.

I suggest coming back during (or after) the Rescue Mission so you don't risk destroying too much of the town and ruining your chance for an A Rank.

#03. Sniper (Town 2)

Once you access City 1 you're told to look for a solid-based weapons. Go to Town 2 and clear the 6 Porters to access a box holding this weapon.

#04. Geyser (City 1)

Once you've taken out the EPS Relay, destroy a patrol for the passcode and access the server for this weapon.

#05. Halberd (EPS 1)

Once you've taken out the EPS Relay, there are 10 Porters in the area that give access to a box with pass_halberd; once you have the passcode access the server for this weapon.

#06. Comet (City 2)

Once City 2 is accessible, destroy a patrol for the passcode and access the server for this weapon.

#07. Gauntlet (EPS 2)

Once you regain detector.fcmd from the Raptor you commandeered, there will be Porters outside the underground tunnel that give access to a box with pass_gauntlet; when you have the passcode access the server for this weapon.

#08. Decoy (Factory 2)

Get pass_decoy1 from a patrol in City 2 and pass_decoy2 from a stealthed patrol in Town 3; then access the server for this weapon.

#09. Mummy (Various)

This weapon appears at various areas throughout the game, sadly there are only 3 occurrences and one of them is during a rescue mission. I find the best time to be once you defeat Tyrant you'll be prompted to head to Mountain 1; do not do that. Immediately head back to Park 1 and there will be a box in the middle of the area with this sub-weapon.

If you're curious about other times it appears; when you're on the map screen check each area for a "?" next to the area name. The "?" means there's an item box in that area, it's not always Mummy but there are specific times during the storyline it is.

Guaranteed Mummy

At City 1 - Once you destroy the generator at EPS 1.

At EPS 1 - Once you clear the Vaccine from ADA (Same time as rescue at City 1)

At Park 1 - Immediately after destroying Tyrant and leaving Park 1.

If you miss all guaranteed moments for it to appear, it can appear as a random sub-weapon from one of the boxes in Mountain 1. Save your game before entering the area and reload if none of the boxes give you the sub-weapon.

#10. Bounder (Mountain 1)

When you enter the area head straight (not the path to your right) and defeat the patrol at the end of the path (S type Cyclops) to get pass_bounder then access the server up on the ridge for this weapon.

Unlock all the frames

This trophy is not missable as it merely requires you to complete the game twice on any difficulty, with any overall rank. This is easy to pull off by making a save when you're at HUB 1. When you beat the game say yes when it prompts you to make a clear save. Now reload your HUB 1 save and beat the game again to earn this trophy.

Boss Data

#01. Neith (KO Neith)

This is the first boss fight of the game and is too easy to even be considered that. The first thing you should notice is that Neith doesn't even have a life gauge; that's how much of a non-boss fight this is. Since Viola is being careless all you really need to do is mash :square: and she'll charge in, rarely parrying and eating your strikes until she finally runs away. You'll see her again and it won't be as easy when you do.

#02. Tempest (Homecoming King)

This is the first actual boss fight where the enemy does pose a threat to you. There is the regular way to defeat this boss but if you're planning to earn an A Rank on all rescue missions this will require a unique way to combat him. Before we talk about how to combat him, understand he constantly moves towards you in his first phase and since you want to minimize damage to the area, kite him along the road below you; do not let him collide with a structure. The only structure that should be destroyed is a traffic intersection which doesn't cause much loss.

The first thing you should know is he has 3 attacks and only 1 of them you won't want him to use. His first attack is a multi-directional flame wave directed at the ground; you do not want him to use this because he will destroy much of the surrounding area with it. Another attack has him firing at the ground and the shots will bounce off the ground and rise into the air; these shots hit the ground below Jehuty so as long as you're kiting him properly they shouldn't hit anything. His last and most preferred attack is a straight flamthrower burst towards Jehuty; you can bait this attack but getting relatively close to his weak spot. Keep attacking and kiting him along the road until he's halfway dead and removes the dome from atop his frame.

With his head exposed you'll don't want to change tactics too much; he'll fire slight-homing blasts at you that you can block. When he's done firing he'll launch high in the sky and then come crashing down on you. When he launches in the sky break your lock-on so you can't get a good view of the area and fly to the middle of the bridge spanning the trench in the middle of the area. When he tries to crush you simply dodge the main part of his body and legs before flying up to his face and continue shooting him while blocking his shots. Repeat this process until he goes down for good.

As long as you kited him properly and had him landing on the middle of the bridge consistently you should have minimal damage to the area and be able to earn an A Rank on the rescue mission later.

#03. Tyrant (The Bigger They Are)

Once you've cleaned the virus out of ADA and have the Decoy sub-weapon it's time to put this guy down. His first form isn't anything special; he'll fire beams and missiles at you along with his big beam. When you see a red ring around Jehuty he's firing his big beam, use Decoy to ensure it doesn't hit you. The best way to damage him is to repeated Burst-Shot him until he changes forms at 50%. Once he changes forms the fight hasn't really changed so don't be thrown off. He'll charge you and he's quite the quick turner for having a hulking frame. Once he stops moving he'll fire lasers, missiles or probes at you; the lasers and probes need to be dodge while the missiles can simply be blocked. When he resorts to charging he'll stop firing his big laser and to make this fight easier you can use Decoy to draw fire from his attacks while you Burst-Shot him. It is possible to damage him while he charges you, but it opens you up to getting hit and trading hits like that is not always safe.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INoTluzYOd8]www.youtube.com/watch?v=INoTluzYOd8[/ame]

#04. Nebula (Nebulous)

Once you've reached the top of Mountain 1 you'll end up in a fight with Nebula and like the other giant bosses he's not too difficult. The thing about Nebula is he rarely has direct attacks; outside of missiles and the occasional beam he releases sattelites that float independently and fire on you. One does a multi-directional beam and shoots homing lasers at you while the others float near Jehuty and fire on you. One bad thing about his attacks are only the homing-shots are blockable, everything else needs to be dodged; and you can't use the structures around to hide from most of his sattelites. To damage him, fire on him while he's floating in the air and dodge his shots but don't hesitate to get a Burst-Shot if you have an opening. Like the previous bosses he'll change tactics at 50%. His tactic change isn't that impressive; he'll fly up in the air and dive into the water before re-emerging and try to swat you with his arms. Once he emerges from the water hit him with a Burst-Shot to stun him and unload everything you can while he's stunned. Repeat this process until he goes down.

#05. Neith (for real) (You Again?!)

Don't let your last fight with Neith go to your head, she's dangerous and if you need proof go ahead and try a close range fight with it. Neith is good at dodging and can wreck serious havoc up close so do yourself a favor and stay away. Neith has its own ranged attacks but they're not as dangerous as it is with its melee attacks. Know that your shots and homing lasers will cause Neith to dodge or can stagger it out of its Burst-Shot. When you have an opening unleash with your own Burst-Shot, Neith may dodge but this is the safest way to combat her. Keep your distance and kite her around the area, if you need a breather or want to set up a shot; get a stack of boxes between you and her then charge your own Burst-Shot and wait for her to destroy the boxes before letting it go. Stay away and keep shooting her until she finally goes down.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1v8D20GTYU]www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1v8D20GTYU[/ame]

#06. Zombie Neith (Third Time's the Charm)

Unlike regular Neith, Zombie Neith has broken arms and isn't that proficient at melee attacks however she's become more proficient at ranged attacks. The main thing to watch out for is her Burst-Shot which consists of 6 projectiles that form around her and have a decent homing ability. Zombie Neith will try to use her Burst-Shot even at medium to close range so when she charges it up, dash in and give her a quick combo; her attack has a minimum range and if you're inside that her shots pose no risk to you. In fact staying close to her is the best strategy as she rarely dodges or melee's if she's not parrying your attack. She's also not that big on parrying anymore so you can wear her down by continuously attacking her while she's close. Even though they do considerable damage you shouldn't try to Burst-Melee at the end of every combo as she can dodge it and get away from you. Just stay on her, up in her face, she's not a threat and easily put down.

Rescue Missions

Basic Knowledge

There are a few things to cover before we get to the meat of the Rescue Missions. The first thing is enemy priority, you need to know what you're fighting and what they're capable of. The first thing to look at is if the patrol is stationary or dynamic; a stationary patrol do not randomly attack buildings when not engaged while a dynamic patrol will. When dealing with patrols you should recognize a patrol with a Mummyhead is also more likely to fire on a building as opposed to a Raptor, while a Cyclops will not fire despite being stationary or dynamic. The next thing to consider is patrol makeup and where to take them.

You should always be fighting over vacant land, especially when fighting Raptors. Raptors love using Javelin even though they have horrible aim, and realize that Javelin arcs and falls to the ground; where a structure and possibly civilians are. The other enemy to consider is Mummyheads, they're ranged but that is easy to control. The easiest method is to just stay high in the sky, if a Mummyhead can't get higher than you their attacks will never risk hitting a structure (most of the time). Cyclops while powerful have no ranged attack and are the least threatening since the only way they can smash a building is by you being next to it.

To earn the two trophies directly related to Rescue Missions you'll need to earn an A Rank in all 5 of the missions. To earn an A Rank you'll need 10% or less structures damaged and 0% casualties.

#01. Town 2 - Immediately after Tempest fight.

There are 5 Patrols totaling 10 enemies in this area; 3 are dynamic while 2 are stationary. I recommend moving forward and disposing of the 2 dynamic Raptors quickly before turning to your right and disposing of the 2 Mummyheads. Next fly across the map gather up the dynamic Raptors along with the stationary Mummyhead/Cyclops and take them out. Finish the mission by taking out the last stationary group.

#02. Town 1 - After obtaining antilia.info at Factory 1

This Rescue Mission may be extremely difficult based on how well you did during the Tempest fight. If you need help with how to fight Tempest please consult the Boss Data.

There are 6 Patrols totaling 14 enemies in this area; all are dynamic. The good thing about this Rescue Mission is that only the church as survivors and there's a giant trench in the middle of the map which is ideal for fighting the enemies. Go ahead and take out the three patrols on the church side of the trench. Now destroy the two patrols on the other side of the trench to remove them from the area. The last patrol is on the other side of the trench and moves really far away, however they're in a nice hallway with nothing below them making it easy to kite or have a ranged battle with them.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZPzgmgUAx0]www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZPzgmgUAx0[/ame]

#03. Town 3 - After destroying both EPS Antennae

There are 11 Patrols totaling 27 enemies in this area; 5 are dynamic while 6 are stationary. Much like Town 1 this area has a nice canal in the middle of the area which is perfect for fighting the enemies. Luckily you can take this one slow as only 6 patrols are shown at once so you merely need to target the dynamic ones and then pick off any stationary patrols are you see fit.

#04. City 2 - After being ambushed by Tyrant

There are 3 Patrols totaling 5 enemies in this area; 2 are dynamic and the other is stationary. Unlike previous rescue missions, the civilians are all in helicopters while the only way to cause structure damage is by shooting out the white lights on the sky-scrapers. Remember you're infected with the Virus and a single hit can kill you; to help mitigate this all the enemies are level 1 and not too aggressive.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TO0bESG4Lhg]www.youtube.com/watch?v=TO0bESG4Lhg[/ame]

#05. City 1 - After cleansing ADA of the Virus

There are 5 Patrols totaling 11 enemies in the area; all are dynamic. This is by far the simplest Rescue Mission as while the structures are close, they can take a lot of damage before falling. The best part of this mission is that you won't have any structure damage or civilian losses unless one of the structures go down. Keep the enemies in melee range and fight them down for an easy win.

Pretty sure saves don't really matter much in this one, if at all. I ended up with 37 saves on my hard playthrough and still got the A rank trophy, only used 1 continue (damn Nebula and no save point between the mountain and fighting him) and my time was just over 5 hours. I then fought through hub 1 and died on Neith 4 or 5 more times and finished for the B rank. Also, don't know if you know this but the final battle against Anubus you cannot die at all. I got stuck there after accidently killing Zombie Neith before hitting 5 continues, so I tried dieing in Anubus but once I hit a sliver of health he couldn't damage me no matter what he hit me with. And this was all on Hard mode.

And one other thing you could add for going for Unhealthy Behavior, get the Gauntlet (you can get it early if you go to EPS2, inside the underground passage, and find the Raptor you were previously controlling, do this before getting the virus) before approatching the mountain where you get infected with the virus. It'll help people who might struggle with killing the last 5 or so enemies in the Factory 2, since you'll get 5 by doing Rescue 4 and thats an easy set of enemies. Otherwise the Factory 2 ones could prove rather difficult for some people.

Great guide, I've been using your 1 playthrough guide so far. However, I just beat Tyrant and I cant seem to find the mummy.drvr checked both park 1 and city 1 like the other thread said and I still can't find it.

Edit: also I did not clear the mountain, although I didn't go back the park immediately after I left it either

It's a very scarce sub-weapon that only appears a few times; if you want it at those times you need to go to those locations IMMEDIATELY. You can still get it by chance in Mountain 1. There are orange weapon boxes in the area and there's a chance for them to give you the Mummy sub-weapon. Save your game before you enter Mountain 1 in case you don't get any, you can reload and try again.

What does Guide stuck mean?

I have several notes or tips that might help.

Tempest and SOS Note:

During the intro of Tempest boss fight, it shows that he destroys several buildings near him. This is bad as the damages carries over later in the SOS mission. The solution for this is just to skip the cutscene to avoid the destruction. Also after defeating Tempest, do not wander in the area instead exit immediately because any damages done by a regular enemy at this point also carries later in the SOS mission.

Mummy drvr and SOS Note:

Everytime you enter the worldmap, you'll see a blinking "?" next to an area name. Now this ? indicates that there's a Mummy drvr in the area. This chances is not random but only appears in certain part of story progression, and the problem is they appear during SOS mission. Why is that a problem? That's because entering any map will cause the Survivors in SOS mission to decrease preventing you get A grade... If decided to complete SOS mission first then grab Mummy drvr later, you'll see that the blinking ? will disappear... so... you're screwed.

But no worries! Mummy sub weapon can acquire in Park.1 after defeating the Tyrant. Also in the Mountain, it is located in the top right area of the map... Well not sure if its top right, but it's in the area on the right of the Nebulous entrance (facing the entrance), one of the box is the Mummy over there.

Overall Grade Note:

It is true that only Continues, Rescue Missions and Game Difficulty affects the Overall Evaluation (don't remember but there's a complicated formula the devs tried to explain to me that each SOS grade has a no. of points, then you multiply it with game difficulty points, so and so). You can achieve an A overall evaluation in Very Hard with just getting an A grade in 1 of the SOS missions, then the rest, you can skip it... It is best to start the game in Hard difficulty instead of Very Hard as you can achieve 100% trophy in 1 playthrough and this guide is great for that!

I just published a 100% semi speed run in youtube, you can check it out and observe if you're interested... (Hmm... not sure if i'm allowed to say that, but if i'm not please give me a warning and ill delete that part of post)

Hello, I just finished the game on Very Hard with 2 continues and A on every Rescue mission and got an S rank. Fortunately that got me the Valedictorian trophy. Then I tried to get a B but with 22 continues I still only drop it to A. Is it possible to get a B rank on Very Hard or must I replay the game?

Great guide Kheapathic, awesome job writing all these and the youtube videos as well! :D

What does Guide stuck mean?

It means this thread will always stay at the top of page one.

---------------

Oh Dear God, I've just defeated Tyrant and was on very low health, I remember there is still a unused-Free to pick up Metatron Box in Town 3 so I went there before doing anything else. Picked it up, restored my health and SAVE the game. Now I went back to Park 1 and there was no mummy weapon for me to pick up :(

Seems like that one weapon will only be available if you re-enter Park 1 IMMEDIATELY after Tyrant boss fight, or else it's gone for good .....

I've just earned myself an extra playthrough .... arrgh.
