Introduction:

This is an overhead driver-shooter; personally I would call it a combination of Dead Nation and the classic PS 1 version of Grand Theft Auto. While the Story Mode makes a half-hearted attempt to give the game direction, you will probably find that you are far more interested in gameplay than story here.

Story Mode:

There are 31 missions in Story Mode. Some will be painfully easy, while some will require you to develop your driving skills and learn the best routes around the city. Each mission has a Primary Objective (necessary) and Secondary Objective (unnecessary to proceed). On any mission where the reward for the Secondary Objective is just cash, feel free to disregard it. These objectives will not affect any trophies (though the game will keep track of which you do and don't accomplish). The only Secondary Objective likely to prove too much to handle will be that of Mission 29 and the reward is cash.

Blood Race:

Blood Race mode involves five tournaments consisting of 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 events, respectively. Events include Races (come in first), Eliminator (destroy opponents), and Endurance (drive fast and cause mayhem to add time to your clock). Tournaments don't require complete perfection, you will be allowed to come in 2nd two or three times per tournament and still win.

Slaughter:

Slaughter Mode consists of endless waves of zombies trying to destroy you. You will destroy zombies, pick up cash and upgrades, dash for health, and generally run for your life to stay alive as long as possible. I found this mode to be the most satisfying, as your only objective is capping zombies.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Complete Story Mode

Story Mode will automatically give you Dirty Work, All plants must die!, Father of all zombies, Hot Rod!, Sunken Hope, The Last Express, Missed Flight, Zombie Driver. As well, you can pick up Very Important Person, I Am The Law!, Superbeast, Your 5 minutes, Hot deal, Heavy hitter!, Bob the destroyer, Pimp Car, Combo Master, and Out of my way!. That second list can be saved for clean-up.

Step 2: Complete Blood Race Mode

In beating Blood Race Mode, you will pick up Look! I know how to drive!, Fair Play, & Maybe it is too much to handle.... With a little replay, you will also nab I don't want it to end yet!, Find your own race track and I just can't get enough!.

Step 3: Complete Slaughter Mode

In beating Slaughter Mode, you will pick up I'm just warming up, Can't hide from me and My favourite color. With a quick replay, you will also nab Slaughtermaster, The best car ever! and Naughty, naughty.

Step 4: Clean-up

At any point in your playthrough, you can replay missions or tracks to nail miscellaneous trophies that you missed the first time. Now is the time to finish up and get your Platinum.

Collect all trophies.

As always, collect all the other non-DLC trophies.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/33A.jpgDirty Work (B)

Defeat the first boss in Story Mode.

Story-related and cannot be missed. This battle will be the primary objective in Mission 3. There are Machine Gun spawns nearby and you should have little trouble downing this first boss with one health bar. Use evasive manoeuvres when necessary and feel free to leave and hunt down health if you're in trouble.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/090.jpgZombie plants must die! (S)

Defeat the mutated zombie plant in Story Mode.

Story-related and cannot be missed. This battle will not occur until Mission 20. I recommend that you only use the Flamethrower to fight this boss, all other weapons are nearly useless in harming it. You will probably have to leave for a health run or two. Do note though there are two nearby health fills and a frequently respawning Flamethrower. The secondary time requirement is tight be prepared to fail, (the time requirement), at least a few times.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/CB8.jpgFather of all zombies (G)

Defeat the last boss in Story Mode.

Story-related and cannot be missed. This battle will be the primary objective in Mission 30. Unlike previous bosses, this boss will regenerate health if you stop attacking for more than 15 seconds. As such you will need to be quick when you go off to regenerate your health. Use the fully levelled railgun to quickly wipe out the zombie spawn towers, there should be 5-6 of them in the park. After the spawns are gone, focus on rapid in and out sniping runs against the boss. If you hold position for more than 5 seconds, he will lay down a devastating ground attack. The best weapons to hurt him are the railgun, Rockets and the Machine Gun. The Flamethrower is nearly worthless here.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/0F9.jpgHot Rod! (B)

Obtain the sports car in Story mode.

Story-related and cannot be missed. This is the Reward for the primary objective in Mission 2. If you start with story mode this will be your first trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/D25.jpgVery Important Person (B)

Unlock the mayor's White Limousine in Story mode.

This is the reward for the secondary objective in Mission 4. Complete the primary objective first, then travel to the secondary location and wipe out waves of zombies. As this is an early trophy and you will likely still be learning the ropes, this may take a few tries. There are two health spawns and a Machine Gun spawn nearby.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/394.jpgI Am The Law! (B)

Unlock the police squad car in Story mode.

This is the reward for the secondary objective in Mission 12. Essentially the same tips apply here as with get the limousine, though by now your skills will honed enough to probably get this on your first try.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/627.jpgSuperbeast (S)

Unlock the super car in Story mode.

This is the reward for the secondary objective in Mission 24. This is actually quite hard relative to the previous cars you unlocked, there will be hundreds and hundreds of zombies to kill. Know that while the waves will seem unending, they are not. Your goal will be to get in to the target area, destroy one or two zombie spawn towers, and get out. Go for more, and you will die. Escape for health, go back and destroy more spawn towers. After destroying the 5 spawn towers, just take out the remaining zombies from a distance.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/BA9.jpgYour 5 minutes (S)

Ensure that the TV van reaches the base with at least 50% of health.

This is the secondary objective in Mission 5. Pretty much the same tips as the limo and squad car. Just Machine Gun the waves of zombies until you've reached the necessary kill count.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/123.jpgHot deal (B)

Put out the fires in the shopping mall.

This is the secondary objective on Mission 22. Probably one of the easier secondary objectives. You will be driving a fire truck, and instead of weapons, you will have only your fire hose. The secondary objective has approximately 6-8 fires to put out, each of which involve about 4 seconds of spray. Watch your health (again, you have no weapons to combat the zombies).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/5EF.jpgHeavy hitter! (B)

Kill 20 or more zombies with one shot while driving the tank.

On Missions 11 and 18 you will have the opportunity to drive the nearly indestructible tank. Not only are you close to invincible but you have an unlimited supply of tank shells (the 999 ammo count never lowers). You will almost certainly get this at the first zombie spawn tower you destroy. If you are having trouble, let them swarm on you then back up and fire.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/455.jpgBob the destroyer (S)

Kill at least 150 zombies in one combo while driving a bulldozer

On Mission 15 you will have the opportunity to drive the nearly unstoppable bulldozer. To get a combo of 150, you must plough through the hordes without going more than 3 seconds without running over a zombie. Ignore the mission objectives, just roam the streets at a leisurely pace and let the zombies run at you. You will probably get this in the first two minutes of the mission.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/0A8.jpgPimp Car (S)

Fully upgrade one car in Story mode.

I truly recommend saving your money at the start, only upgrading weapons (which carry over to all cars). The only cars worth upgrading over your story mode run are the bus and the super car. You'll use the bus on all missions requiring massive pickups and the super car on all other missions. You won't get the discounts until late in the game. You'll probably be maxing out a car sometime around Mission 20 (if you choose to max out the bus first).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/8C1.jpgSunken Hope (B)

Move to the harbor base in Story mode.

Story-related and cannot be missed. Will automatically pop at the end of Mission 7.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/8FB.jpgThe Last Express (B)

Progress to the train station base in Story mode.

Story-related and cannot be missed. This trophy will automatically pop at the end of Mission 15.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/BEE.jpgMissed Flight (B)

Progress to the airport base in Story mode.

Story-related and cannot be missed. This trophy will will automatically pop during Mission 22 as you complete the primary objective of putting out fires.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/EC9.jpgZombie Driver (G)

Complete the Story mode.

Story-related and cannot be missed. Will automatically pop at the end of the final mission, Mission 31. The time requirement will seem quite tight here - know that when you arrive at the northern barrier (behind which the zombies are wall-to-wall), your time will rise back to 30 seconds, giving you the necessary bonus time to get out of Dodge. By the way, this is truly the ideal spot to get the trophy Out of my way! as you can nail 50-100 zombies with one maxed out railgun shot.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/3D4.jpgLook! I know how to drive! (B)

Earn your first Blood Race mode medal.

During Blood Race mode, you will likely get this at the end of the first race in the Beginner's tournament. There are only four competitors and three get medals. Unless you truly can't drive...

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/349.jpgI don't want it to end yet! (B)

Survive for more than 2:30 in an Endurance event in the Blood Race mode.

Don't go for this early on. In the last tournament, this will be a requirement for gold so just save it until then. You get extra time for checkpoints, killing zombies, and destroying cars/objects. Most of your bonus time will come from killing zombies, and the late endurance events are full of them.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/86E.jpgMaybe it is too much to handle... (B)

Unlock the Muscle Car in the Blood Race mode.

You need a silver ranking or better in the Beginner's Tournament. This will come automatically as you go for I just can't get enough!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/778.jpgFair play (B)

Kill 100 enemies in the Blood Race mode.

This is a cumulative trophy, and as such is no challenge at all. I recommend using the second event (Eliminator) of the first tournament to build up Blood Race mode cash early on. Just keep replaying this event, and you will get the 100 kills and rack up piles of money to upgrade your favorite cars (Eliminator events are the cash cow of Blood Race mode). Unfortunately there is no way to check your total kills, but 100 really isn't that many (you will get between 10 and 20 on most Eliminator events).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/D4C.jpgFind your own race track! (S)

Kill 30 enemies during an Eliminator event in the Blood Race mode.

This is actually a bit tough. My only tip is to save it for the final event of the final tournament (you can replay this event once you've accessed it). Unlike all other Eliminator events, you get 3 minutes of start time instead of the usual 2 and you'll have 5 targets instead of 3 or 4. This will take a few tries but it is manageable. Your most effective attacks are ramming with a maxed out Super Car (you need to use boost) and using maxed out railgun shots.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/3F6.jpgI just can't get enough! (G)

Win all tournaments in the Blood Race mode.

In the first two tournaments you are allowed to get 2 second-place finishes or 1 third-place finish. In the last three tournaments, you can get 3 second-place finishes or 1 second-place and 1 third-place. I recommend using up your second-place finishes on Eliminator events, as I find these to be the hardest in which to achieve the Gold Medal requirements. This is actually, in my opinion, less challenging than Find your own race track! and Slaughtermaster.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/E59.jpgI'm just warming up (B)

Kill 100 zombies in a single game in Slaughter mode.

This is near impossible to miss. You will get this in the first minute of your first Slaughter mode.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/379.jpgCan't hide from me (B)

Kill 500 zombies in a single game in Slaughter mode.

Given that Gold Medal scores require big combos, you will find yourself meeting this requirement almost every single match.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/AB2.jpgNaughty, naughty (S)

Destroy 1500 destructibles in Slaughter mode.

This is a cumulative trophy. The best level to farm destructibles is the beach resort, this level has dozens (maybe even hundreds) of things to destroy. Destructibles include cars, boxes, cacti, chairs, fences etc. Anything you drive into and breaks will count.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/EDA.jpgThe best car ever! (S)

Get all car upgrades in a single game in Slaughter mode.

This will probably require you to get to at least the 18th wave in Slaughter mode. After the first wave, each wave will have one to three upgrades scattered about. You will need to get three upgrades each for Machine Guns (white), Flamethrower (yellow), Rockets (red), railgun (purple), Boost (blue), Armor (orange shield), Ramming Power (orange grill) and Speed (orange tire). Unfortunately the game is not above giving repeats, For example, you may find yourself getting 4+ Machine Gun upgrades before seeing a boost upgrade.

Just go for all upgrades (there will be a star on the edge of your map to nudge you in the right direction) as soon as possible. If you finish a wave without picking up the upgrade, they tend to disappear (usually but not always).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/E58.jpgMy favourite color (G)

Earn a gold medal on all original arenas in Slaughter mode.

Each successive arena will have steeper point requirements. However, the final Slaughter Arena only requires 105 000 to get Gold. Most of these will be achieved on your first try, while all should be achievable in just a few attempts.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/302.jpgSlaughtermaster (G)

Earn 150 000 points on any arena in Slaughter mode.

I feel that this is the hardest trophy in the game. After Wave 20, the map will be swarming with zombies. Your keys to success will be upgrades in Armor, Ramming, Boost (takes out Heavy Zombies without slowing you down) and railgun/Machine Gun (your preference). It is essential that you dodge the Exploding zombies, as each collision will eat about 1/4 of your health. There will be one health refill in each wave but if it is swarmed with Heavies/Exploders, it you best just keep moving. I don't think any particular map is the best, the Beach Resort has the most room to move so that's my personal recommendation.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/CB5.jpgCombo Master (S)

Make a 10 000 points combo.

This is easiest to do in Slaughter Mode, though I believe you can and almost certainly will get this in Story Mode when using the Tank or Bulldozer. Remember that you keep your combo rolling by running over zombies, not by shooting them. Shooting will add points but it will not keep the combo clock running.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1204/28B.jpgOut of my way! (G)

Kill 30 zombies with a single railgun shot.

Don't try this until you have maxed out your railgun. Late in Story Mode this will pretty much come automatically when you fire your double-wide super shot railgun into the masses.

Looking good so far. I would just point out that many people, myself included, found the first level far easier for the Slaughtermaster trophy. Also, you appear to be very much in the minority in finding Blood Race easier than Slaughter Mode.

It's not that I found Blood Race easy (far from it). It just had a really hard time with Slaughtermaster. Playing the first level, I was constantly getting raped by the zombies throwing things at me. I like the last level because the open beaches give you a wide berth to avoid projectiles.

Though I'm certainly in a minority in thinking Blood Race was the easier of the two, I think we can all agree that they're both pretty hard. Though this is by no means the hardest driver/shooter game out there, it's pretty rough.

i have finished the story mode and slaughter mode, have all trophies that are associated with each mode. im about to go after all blood race mode trophies now.

my question is the cash that you earn and upgrades that you purchase, are they saved once purchased and do they carry over between each tournament?

im hoping they cash can be farmed and upgrades can be purchased to help make the tournaments easier.. is this the case?

if not i have a feeling this mode will be quite difficult to nab the gold in each tournament! lol

I may say a bunch of lucky in races because eliminator and survival are by far easy with a little tricky

Thanks for the guide! Helped out with a couple of trophies. Also, I didn't see it mentioned anywhere in the guide, but for Blood Races, you can restart any of the events via the pause menu if you know you are going to lose. You would think this would affect the trophy or something but it doesn't, as I restarted one particular race in the last tournament 6 times and when I finally got 1st place it still counted.

On a side note, this game is now my fastest platinum (1 day 3 hours)

I am completely gob-smacked that due to the fact of following this great guide, that I am still unable to get the above trophy. I have 5 gold medals in the first 5 tournaments, yet I still have failed to receive the above trophy for my hard work. Wtf? Zombie tournament is all that's left. Do I have to further torture myself for countless hours to earn a gold here as well? This is pure BS. I have done the above and still no blood race trophy and plat. I am at a loss. I am not skilled enough to gold the zombie tournament. What a waste of my time playing this fucked up game. No plat due to one lousy bronze trophy. To the people who designed blood race. Were you on drugs or something when you tested it? Did you even test it? It's a load of crap. Fact, not opinion. why did I purchase it? Because it was fun... until the accursed blood race shit.

Condolences. I have a similar problem with the game Start the Party 2. The game has a platinum completion rate of 60-70%, and yet I am completely buffaloed by the Survival Challenge. It really, really sucks when you hit a challenge that everybody else seems to breeze through, yet you're completely stuck. I empathize with your plight... all I can suggest is to keep trying.

I don't know if the Auroch is DLC or whatever, but I used that for everything. Not the super car. It might be slower, but the handling is LOADS better I found and I didn't have too much trouble with the blood races using it. Plus, in the eliminators you can just ram the shit into everything and they explode. Had 40 odd kills during the last eliminator using it, and got gold in most of the tournaments first time..

The game is complete load of crap though, crashed all the time and just dragged on forever. The story was the same thing over an over :p

This game took an inordinate amount of time to plat. Not because it is hard, but because the Zombie Drivers Tournament is so annoying and I didn't want to put in the practice time needed to finish it. Now that this is done, I am going to post some things that I found helpful to me in case anybody else gets into the same bind. Expert gamers out there, bear with me, this is for the other players.

Eliminators: Memorize the track. Don't get stuck, press select quickly to respawn if you do or simply restart, Memorize the location of health powerups and hit them every lap. Ram a lot and hit other cars with boost to destroy. Go for any powerup and lay on it until it is done. I used the DLC Auroch for most of these except the 3 minute eliminator, I used the Supercar.

Endurance: Go really fast to get the max # of laps in. Use up all your ammo and dont save it. Ram everything; all cars, any objects, zombies, everything. I used the Auroch for these.

Races. I used the Supercar for this. These were my only non-golds. They are truly annoying with bad AI. I could not gold these. Just keep restarting until you get a Silver, but if you gold everything else, a bronze will still let you win. Memorizing the track and short cuts is helpful.

im surprised this game has such a high platinum completion rate. the racing is pure shit. and as soon as you finish something it resets the progress. and you can abuse the save because it only saves to cloud which stops you for 24 hours per download. the racing is so cheap. one nudge and you turn backwards and the entire race is screwed. you cant even see the track because they put so much shit everywhere your constantly going to be stopped by a wall
