Introduction

PSN exclusive Zack Zero by Crocodile Entertainment is one of the newer PSN titles recently added to the PlayStation Network. In short the game is a side-scrolling game of action, puzzles and decent platforming where you tumble your way through hordes of dangerous enemies and mini-bosses. The game utilizes puzzles and action with fairly decent level design which translates to consistent gameplay experience. The storyline revolves around Zack Zero’s attempt to rescue his beloved Marlene from the evil galactic villain Zurlog.

I have read mixed thoughts so far on this game and most negative thoughts are based on the games bugs. I do not believe the bugs are that bad and I thought the game was fantastic! It is a side scrolling button basher and the visuals are literally out of this world. For less than £10 I was delighted with what I had purchased and I am already looking forward to what they come up with for the next installment.

The game is pretty straightforward and the only boss I struggled on was the final boss. This makes most of the trophies very easy to get. Without a guide you will struggle with one trophy and that is the one for collecting all the treasures. I spent a whole day looking for one! It happened to be in a very simple place and I was not best pleased. With my guide you will get this 100% easily and it will take you around 4 hours.

Roadmap

You can get all of these trophies in one run and you only have to focus on 4 things while progressing through the game. Focus on collecting all of the treasures (Video Guide further on), getting your powers up to level 20, defeating a Nahirg General with just the blade thrower and the combat trophies.

The first time you face a Nahirg General is the boss battle on level 3. You face many more of these throughout the game. You build up your powers by collecting green orbs, defeating enemies and breaking boxes. Make sure you are getting all the green orbs that you can and you also want to collect the bubbles that you see when defeating enemies. I reached level 20 on the second to last level. This trophy is missable as you cannot gain powers in chapter select which means you would need to start over if you miss this. There are a few combat trophies that require so many kills with different powers. You will need to wait to unlock some of them. Just keep using the power to kill enemies and these are easy to get.

Archaeologist is glitched. I collected all of the treasures and did not get the trophy for it. There is a fix and all I did was replay level 1 and collected the 2 treasures on that level. The trophy then unlocked.

Glitch

I have spoken to the developer regarding this glitch and a fix is being worked on. They are also looking at patching bugs. However, this glitch makes the combo trophies very easy and I never actually figured out I had done this until I had all the combat trophies unlocked on level 2.

On level 1 you will reach a point where all your powers are drained to level 0. When the cutscenes finish you will still be on level 1 and will have to continue a little to move on to level 2. If you quit the game before moving on to level 2 and then continue, you will be after where you lose your powers but you will be level 20 again! This means that you can play the whole game being level 20. Here's a video that shows me doing it:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3HltWIYo7Q&feature=player_embedded]Zack Zero Glitch - Full Powers From Start - YouTube[/ame]

The problem with this is that you will not be able to achieve the trophy for reaching level 20 as you must level up from 19 to 20 to get this. You will need to start a new game and not do the glitch to get it. You can however do it for fun or to get the combat trophies really quickly. I had them all just halfway through level 2 and then started again as I wanted the trophy for getting to level 20.

Finish the game in any difficulty level.

You will get this trophy once you complete the game. However, there are no difficulty settings so why it says any difficulty I don't know. I have made a video to show you how I beat all the bosses to help you. These are not perfect and I do die but they show you how to beat them. With the bosses you get checkpoints so if you die after the checkpoint, you will have full health again and the boss will still be damaged. This makes it very easy.

Killing a Nahirg General using only the blade launcher

A Nahirg General is the enemy that takes steps away from you before jumping and swinging his weapon at you. He is very easy to beat as you just need to keep running at him and he will jump over you. After he misses you, attack him before he starts taking steps away from you again.

The first time you come across one of these is the boss fight on level 3. You must only attack and defeat him with the blade launcher to get this trophy. Make sure you are in Regular Mode and press :square: when attacking him. Take note that if you get too close you will melee him and this will mean you cannot get the trophy. You will fight many more of these through the game so don't worry if you mess up. Here is a video to show you how it is done:

Killing 100 enemies with the blade launcher.

The blade launcher is your basic attack when you do not have a power active (Regular Mode :right:). Press :square: to throw your blade to kill enemies and once you have killed 100 with it, you will earn this trophy. When in this mode you will melee enemies that are close and this will not count. This trophy and all the other combat ones are cumulative. Once you finish the game you can go into level select to carry on getting the kills you need.

Some power attacks need to be unlocked before you can use them. You unlock them by levelling up and you can view your progress by pressing :select:. In the roadmap I have posted a glitch that could help you get them sooner. You could also just keep replaying the first level to get all the combat trophies but these would just come naturally.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1357/95B.jpg Ice cream man (B)

Use frozen air to freeze 50 enemies.

Press  to change to Ice Mode and then press :square: to freeze your enemies. Once you have froze 50 enemies, this trophy will unlock.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1357/66C.jpg Toaster (B)

Kill 100 enemies using the flame thrower.

Press :left: to change to Fire Mode and then press :square: to use your flame thrower. Kill 50 enemies with this for the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1357/5D4.jpg Avalanche! (B)

Use rock spikes to kill 50 enemies.

Press  to Stone Mode and then press :circle: for your Spike attack. Kill 50 enemies with this attack for the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1357/34E.jpg Rocky (B)

Use the power of your rock punch to kill 50 enemies.

This is also in Stone Mode but you press :square: to perform a Rock Punch. Kill 50 enemies with this for the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1357/B40.jpg Variety is the spice of life (B)

Kill 50 enemies using each of Zack’s powers.

You will just get this by getting the other combat trophies. You do not have to kill 50 enemies with each attack within a mode. You just need to kill 50 enemies with an attack from each mode.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1357/45C.jpg I feel the power (S)

Reach Zack's suit level 20.

Reminder: If you use the glitch to play through the game on level 20 then you will not be able to get this unless you start a new game and not do the glitch!

To level up your powers you must collect as many of the green orbs as you can. You will also gain power by collecting the bubbles that appear when defeating enemies and breaking boxes. It is not too difficult, just make sure you take all routes even if you need to back track. There are places were enemies respawn so take advantage of that and kill all enemies that you see! Bosses give you extra.

I reached level 20 on the second to last level. You must do this in one playthough and it is missable. You cannot level up on level select so if you do not get this by the time you complete the game, you will need to start again.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1357/059.jpg Treasure Finder (B)

Find 5 nahirg treasures.

See the "Archaeologist" trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1357/FD8.jpg Archaeologist (G)

Finding all Nahirg Treasures.

This is by far the toughest trophy in the game. It requires you to collect all the treasures and some of these are very well hidden. Most are off course and some are on route. You must finish the level for the treasures to save as at the end of each level it will award you for them and save them. You can see how many treasures you have collecting for each level on the Level Select Menu.

The trophy is also glitched, I collected them all and did not get the trophy but I also found a fix. If the same happens to you, just select level 1 on level select and go and get the 2 treasures on that level again for the trophy to unlock. Here is my treasure video guide showing you how to get all the treasures:

Closing Notes

This is the very first guide I have done for PS3T. I hope it helps people. I was the first to 100% it so I thought I would throw this out there. I also did all the videos myself and I think I am the one to find the glitch.

Please post any improvements or suggestions and enjoy the game.

Referring to the part I bolded, I just thought that I would point out that this trophy didn't glitch for me: I missed 5 treasures, 1 each in 5 levels; I played through the 5 levels again using chapter select, re-collected all treasures for each level (including, obviously, the one I missed), and made sure to finish the level all the way to the results screen; the trophy unlocked for me as soon as I picked up the last treasure of the last level I needed one in - I didn't actually have to even finish that level...

I do know that if you just go and get, say, the one treasure that you missed in a level and then make it to a checkpoint and quit to the menu, that the treasure WILL NOT be saved and counted...It would seem that you have to do what I did - get all treasures in a single playthrough of a level and make it to the results screen - in order for it to register.

Anyways, I'm not trying to meddle; just pointing out that the trophy worked out fine for me, and maybe you might want to elaborate a bit on that trophy rather than just saying that it's glitched.

Reading the trophy back I can not see where I just put it was a glitch. It seems to me that I stated you need to collect all the treasures and that I spent a good amount of time on a video guide to show the exact location of them all. Not really a fair comment mate. I actually think it is good that I mentioned the glitch as it may be one that happens to very few but at least they will know how to sort it and not feel like it was a waste of time.

I did miss that you need to finish the levels for the treasures to save and will include it. At the end of every level it awards you for the treasures you collect and this is where they save. For those of you that need proof of the glitch, here it is. You will see that every level has all the treasures collected and then I show you that I do not have the trophy before getting the trophy by replaying level one as I have already stated in the guide.

Reading the trophy back I can not see where I just put it was a glitch.

You put it right here:

The trophy is also glitched, I collected them all and did not get the trophy but I also found a fix[...].

You're not saying, "This trophy glitched for me and therefore it might glitch for you"; you're saying "The trophy is glitched" as if it's absolutely glitched and will be for everyone...I don't doubt that it glitched on you, and I don't you need to give me proof that it did - I believe you. What I'm saying is that it didn't glitch for me, therefore I don't think it's accurate to write in a guide "This trophy is glitched". And don't think I'm trying to be critical of you - it's good that you found a glitch, have pointed it out, and have provided a possible fix for it; again, though: it glitched for you, it didn't glitch for me, therefore I don't think it's accurate to simply say "it's glitched" - which is what you've done.

We have two people - you, me - one with a glitch, one without; therefore, it's not a certainty that the trophy will either glitch or not glitch on anyone else...

The same thing happened to me recently in a game called Wanted Corp. - there's an online trophy that has glitched for me, but a handful of other people have had it unlock for them; I don't think it would be right for me to say - with 100% certainty - that the trophy is glitched when it isn't glitched for everyone.

When I suggested that you elaborate, I really just meant that you should re-word what you wrote; rather than saying "this trophy is glitched", it would be more accurate to say something like, "There's a chance this trophy could glitch on you, here's how, and here's what to do in order to try and fix it".

Change it or don't, it's up to you; and I'm not trying to pick a fight with you over this; it's just that you've stated as a certainty "This trophy is glitched", and I just don't think that's an accurate thing to say.

Chill out ladies and gents. The wording is fine. We'd rather err on the side of caution when it comes to possibly glitched trophies. It doesn't hurt anything to say it's glitched and we'd rather people be as aware of the possibility as possible.

While it's obvious that the glitch could or couldn't happen it's perfectly fine to label it a glitched trophy. He's mentioned it's glitched and he's provided a work around. It doesn't need to change. Let's move on please.

Thanks

Thanks for clarification on it. I too thought the wording was fine. I just assumed that it is general knowledge that a glitched trophy is not always glitched for everyone. I dont think I have ever seen one where it happens 100% of the time.

I am actually going away now for a while so I may not be able to answer any other questions for up to a week! Enjoy getting the trophies for whoever uses this guide.

I just want to say you cut the quote too short as just after that I say If this happens to you which suggests that it may not.... Anyway, thanks for your feedback, I edited the trophy and its now more clear that the treasures save at the end of the level, thats something I shouldnt of missed.

I'll leave the supposedly argumentative stuff for after, to ensure that this actually gets read:

I just assumed that it is general knowledge that a glitched trophy is not always glitched for everyone. I dont think I have ever seen one where it happens 100% of the time.

And I assume that most people, whenever they encounter a "glitch", come running here like a chicken with their head cut off; the number of posts around here where people scream "glitch" and then 5 minutes later re-post, saying "O never mind" is kind of ridiculous, so...If it were me, I would err on the side of over-explaining things like I suggested in order to prevent people from, say, picking up a treasure, quitting the game, and coming here to post "Oh noez, teh trophy glitched!"; key phrase, there: if it were me; so whatever, it's just down to different ways of doing things...

But that word - suggested - brings me to the supposedly argumentative side of things (which I never even started, let alone clung on to): it was just a suggestion - nothing more, nothing less; a suggestion as solicited by the guide writer himself:

Please post any improvements or suggestions and enjoy the game

It wasn't meant as criticism, argument, anything negative of the sort, which I took great pains to explain....But first:

I just want to say you cut the quote too short as just after that I say If this happens to you which suggests that it may not...

I actually quoted your entire description in my first post and it didn't stop you from being hyper-defensive, so I didn't feel the need to re-quote the entire description a second time, and I don't appreciate you trying to make it seem like I'm editing your stuff to suit my own purposes. Especially when, like I said, I went out of my way to take (and point that I was taking) a non-combative stance, and was just making a suggestion. But I'll shorten my own sentences to cement that point:

Anyways, I'm not trying to meddle [...]

And don't think I'm trying to be critical of you [...]

and I'm not trying to pick a fight with you over this [...]

It's not my fault that everyone on the internet assumes that, when someone says things like this, they mean the exact opposite. I posted a suggestion, the TC responded in a pretty defensive tone that made it seem like he didn't understand that it was a suggestion and not a criticism, so I felt I should post again in order to clear that up...Which, for whatever reason, didn't help.

Anyways:

Chill out ladies and gents.

I was chilled out the entire time; not sure how what I wrote was taken so amiss...

Let's move on please.

I'm not in the habit of not meaning the things that I say, so I feel pretty comfortable in (re-)asserting that I had moved on:

Change it or don't, it's up to you; and I'm not trying to pick a fight with you over this; it's just that you've stated as a certainty "This trophy is glitched", and I just don't think that's an accurate thing to say.

My post was in an attempt to reduce the # of unnecessary back and forths about an issue that is resolved. I'll state again to let it go. If you want to contact me about this via PM you can but please do not post in this guide thread again about this issue. People reading the guide don't need to sift through posts where two individuals are going in circles regarding a discussion that is resolved.

Thank you

how forgiving is "I feel the power"? I'm doing PRETTY good with the green orbs, even got all of them on one level. Killing enemies as they come. Getting all the treasures. I have died a few times... By your estimates am I on track or is this a case where I need to get nearly ALL the green orbs in the game?

Just a quick FYI. I played through the entire game and collected every artifact except one. Once I beat the game I replayed the level were I missed the artifact (via level select).

Once I collected the final artifact for the level the Archaeologist trophy popped. This can be an alternate means of obtaining the trophy I suppose.

I think another trophy is glitched. 'Variety is the spice of life' did not pop for me even though I got the other skill kill trophies. Did this happen to anyone else? What should I do?

I'm worried this may be messed up for me too. According to the OP you don't need 50 kills with all attacks, just 50 kills with a kill from each attack. I've gotten all combat trophies except for the rock spikes, so hopefully it unlocks after that.

I did just install an update for the game, so maybe the update messed the trophy up, or maybe the requirement have changed to 50 kills for all attacks (including melee and the rock pound; which don't get trophies on their own.)

Just started the game after downloading the patch 1.01

The trophy for 5 collectables didnt pop!

I guess the patch is screwing things up.

Gonna start new without updating.

I just had the same problem, and i didn't download the patch.

Its weird, im certain i have killed more than 50 enemies with Zacks Powers and that didn't pop and the 5 treasures didnt pop either..

Im downloading the patch now, hoping that will fix the issues, but now that i read ur message, i guess it doenst.
