Introduction:

Welcome to Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, a spinoff from the main series of Ninja Gaiden. This is a game for gaiden fans to play while Ninja Gaiden 4 is in the works.

The ninja are the most elite of warriors, exercising unparalleled skill, precision and lethality for centuries. Only the most deadly candidates are given the rare and coveted opportunity to join the clan. The final test of a ninja’s training is to face a true ninja master in combat. For years, Yaiba was that final ninja but after suffering the indignity of serving a clan led by the weak-willed and spineless, he decided he had had enough. It only seemed natural to him that he should claim the spines they had no use for. Among his confederacy of cowards, the weakest of all in Yaiba’s eyes was the “legendary” Ryu Hayabusa. Fifteen dead ninjas later and Yaiba found himself face-to-face with the straight-arrow poster boy. A vicious battle ensued and when the dust cleared, Ryu Hayabusa stood victorious for the moment. But that’s only where the story begins…what Hayabusa took from Yaiba with the Dragon Sword was his eye, arm, and life...now technologically restored. Due to the intervention of mysterious benefactors, Yaiba reawakens as rage-filled as ever. Only now, a zombie outbreak threatens to plunge the world into darkness. Now literally and figuratively armed by cutting-edge technology, he'll have to carve a path through legions of grotesque and deformed undead to reach Ryu Hayabusa. With Hayabusa racing against time to determine the source of the infection, Yaiba must leave his own parallel trail of destruction if he’s to exact his revenge.

Walkthrough:

Step 1 - Complete the game. (Optional) - Start game on Hard difficulty.

There are 5 difficulties but only 3 of them have trophies. Hard, Nightmare and Hell difficulties are challenging. To get this Platinum quicker, start the game on Hard first and complete Step 1 that way. Warning though, only do this if you're up to the challenge. If you are not good, you'll suffer the consequences of your actions until you've collected all collectibles and upgrades. There are 7 missions to clear in order for you to complete the game. During your first playthrough try to get all collectibles and other miscellaneous trophies. The trophies listed below should unlock during this step:

(B) Knockout King

(B) Arm Robbery

(B) Lust for Unlife

(B) Time to Kill

(B) Can't Touch This

(B) Breaking Baddies

(B) Makes Me Want to Throw Up

(S) Cold Shard Cash

(S) Flower Power

(S) Perky

Step 2 - Complete the game on higher difficulties.

In this step, aim to complete the game on Hard (if you didn't in Step 1), Nightmare and Hell difficulties. Try to get as many Legend status scores as possible. Make sure to NOT start a new game if you want to keep your collectibles. Go to mission select and change the difficulty so you can keep your data. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1728/D2E.jpg Breaking Baddies (B)

Congeal 50 enemies with bile crystals.

Congeal is another way to say "sealed" or "solidify'. Simply seal up 50 enemies within bile crystals. The best place to get this trophy is Mission 4. At the beginning of the level, you'll see an electric stiff (distractor) in a cage. Grab him and walk up stairs. You'll run into toxic stiff zombies. Now tap :circle: near them to seal a zombie in a bile crystal. Make sure to kill them with :triangle:. This place will spawn infinite toxic stiff zombies as long as you don't progress further than the stair area. Just continue to seal and kill for 50 times and the trophy will unlock.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1728/BAB.jpg Makes Me Want to Throw Up (B)

Throw 50 zombies.

You'll get this on your first or second playthrough. So don't worry about this trophy because you have to throw enemies (distractors) all the time. Eventually, you'll throw 50 of them and trophy will unlock.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1728/3AA.jpg Elementary, My Dear Monday (B)

Cause each type of elemental effect on zombies and in the environment.

As you play through the game, in order to progress in certain areas, you need to throw either electric, burning or toxic stiffs on something that is blocking your way of progression. This will automatically take care of the environmental side of this trophy. Now you need to worry about the enemies. The best place for getting elemental effects on zombies is Mission 6. Experidemented arena has the sub-weapons and enemies to mix different elements together. Below are a list of elemental effects:

  • Bile element = Blind/Toxic
  • Fire element = Burning
  • Lightning element = Electricuting
  • Lightning element + Fire element = Storm
  • Lightning element + Bile element = Bile Crystals
  • Fire element + Bile element = White/Strong Wild Fire
  • Bile element + Fire element + Lightning element = Plague Cloud

The trophy will unlock after creating these elemental effects.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1728/EA8.jpg Better Dying Through Chemistry (B)

Cause 50 elemental effects.

See Elementary, My Dear Monday for information on elemental effects. The trophy will unlock after you've caused 50 elemental effects. You'll most likely get this on your second playthrough.

Create 7 plague clouds.

Mission 6 is the best place for unlocking this trophy, during the last wave in the Experidemented arena. Holy Roasters will appear. Use both the spinal zap and hagpipes on each Holy Roaster to create a plague cloud. You may need to play Mission 6 a few times or save one Holy Roaster so it can kill you. Then you can rinse and repeat the process until you get 7 plague clouds.

Bile element + Fire element + Lightning element = Plague Cloud.

See Elementary, My Dear Monday for a video.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1728/6C3.jpg Quartermaster (S)

Complete Arcade Mode.

Arcade Mode is a very challenging mode but if you're a master at retro games like Ninja Gaiden on NES then you should do ok. Arcade Mode has 4 stages total. Once cleared, the trophy will unlock.

Tips:

1) Break open boxes and barrels - Some of them hold golden coins that give you an extra life. Very important! They will also have health or a bloodlust item. Also, be cautious of the barrels that explode.

2) Don't spam attacks - Tapping :square: over and over is just going to get yourself hurt. These enemies will attack you relentlessly. Especially the elemental stiffs.

3) Boss fights - These are easy bosses, however, they come with swarms of enemies. Be careful, and fight far away from boss. Some attacks may instantly kill you if you're hit by a boss.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1728/9C2.jpg Hell or High Slaughter (G)

Complete every Mission on Hell difficulty.

This difficulty is unlocked by clearing Nightmare. Hell is the hardest difficulty and you'll spend most of your precious time trying to beat it. I've provided tips below:

A) You will die in one hit - Sometimes you may be lucky to get chip damage that is +1 but only if you're dodging. Overall, anything will kill you.

B) Hold that block button - :r1: is your friend. It will save you against some of the bull you will be encountering. Projectile-throwing enemies will spam their attacks often.

C) A.I. is more aggressive - You don't want to leave a half of zombie around (torso). They won't hesitate to kill you. Other enemies will simply run away from you and throw projectiles for that one-hit kill.

D) Enemy rage modes - Most enemies have a rage mode that will devastate you if you take down their health enough. You'll see how some enemies simply increase hardiness and take your attacks head on which will only result in your death. Some enemies will put up some defenses that can kill you easily if you're not careful.

E) Have all upgrades and collectibles - Yes, you should have them all or you won't last long. The upgrades help with your offense and the collectibles help with your defense. Even though this difficulty is a one-hit killer mode, you have a 40% chance of surviving from that.

F) Have full knowledge of sub-weapons - For example, you'll get the spinal zap from a ZomBride. Using this weapon on a burning stiff zombie will create a electrical+fire storm. You need to be able to use these weapons wisely. If you've come this far, then you should have a good grasp on how to use these sub-weapons.

G) Boss fights - There are only 2 major boss fights and 2 minor ones. The major boss fights will be a pain to beat on this difficulty. It will take you a while to understand exactly how to avoid all their attacks. This is very unfair but with dedication its just a small bump in your path to victory. Practice and increase your chances of winning.

H) Elements - When you're attacked by any element and survive, you will instantly have a full meter to either burn to death or be electrocuted. The bile will also give you 0% visibility so be aware of that. Also, when finding a new core for yourself on mission 6, the electricity meter fills up very fast.

I) Effective combos: Range from 200-300+ Damage:

(:square: :square: :circle:)

(:square: :square: :triangle: :triangle: :triangle:)

(:circle: :square: :square: :square:)

For a comprehensive guide for this difficulty, see my supplement guide below:

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/forum/yaiba-ninja-gaiden-z/230410-yaiba-ngz-hell-difficulty-walkthrough.html

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1728/C84.jpg Chain of Command (B)

Achieve a 50-hit streak.

See Well-Soiled Machine.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1728/D8B.jpg Combination On Lock (B)

Achieve a 100-hit streak.

See Well-Soiled Machine.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1728/508.jpg Well-Soiled Machine (S)

Achieve a 200-hit streak.

Very easy, simply reach a 200-hit combo without being touched. You can get this at the beginning of Mission 1 by spamming :square: or :circle:. If you fail getting it during the first arena, then restart.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1728/7C4.jpg Limb Swim (B)

Chain 5 or more executions together.

Another easy trophy, but you need to buy the special upgrade that allows you execute up to 10 eneimes in a row. Once you've bought this upgrade, go to any mission (I prefer mission 1) and use the :square: :square: :circle: combo around 5 or more enemies. You will see exclamation marks over their heads, then press :l2:. Now you must chain the executions perfectly. When you see Yaiba slow down a bit during his execution process, tap :l2: again. Repeat this up to 5 times in a row and the trophy will unlock.

See An Embarrassment of Liches.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1728/DD1.jpg An Embarrassment of Liches (S)

Kill 5,000 zombies.

Another trophy you shouldn't worry about. You'll clear the game multiple times and most of the time you can't progress unless you've killed all the enemies in the arena. I got this on my second playthrough so you should expect about the same.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1728/D40.jpg A Perfect 10 (S)

Take no damage and achieve Legend status in 10 arenas.

It's not as bad as it sounds. Legend status just requires you to be fast at clearing an arena, plus performing enough executions as well. There are some arenas that doesn't have any enemies so those are more about speed. If you're playing on easier difficulties then this shouldn't be a problem for you to unlock. There are 47 arenas so you have a variety to get Legend status on. The trophy will unlock after taking no damage and achieving Legend status in 10 arenas.

See Valedictgorian.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1728/567.jpg Valedictgorian (G)

Get 50 Legend arena scores.

There are 47 arenas in the game. This trophy expands to all difficulties. You can get the same Legend status score from that arena multiple times as long as you're on a different difficulty. So there are 435 arenas at your disposal to simply get 50 Legend status scores. To get a Legend status for an arena, you must perform enough executions and raise your combos high by not being touched. Speed is also important with most arenas, however, as long as you're not fooling around then you'll be alright. The trophy will unlock immediately after your 50th Legend score.

Cannot be missed. You'll get this during your first playthrough since there are many obstacles that are in your way. Some require you to use elements to destroy these obstacles.

There are 25 story collectibles. The rophy will unlock after obtaining all story collectibles. Follow the supplemental guide below for help finding every one of these:

There are a total of 25 upgrades. You should be able to get this during your first playthrough if you're constantly getting Legend status scores. Once all upgrades are bought, the trophy will unlock.

9/10 ?? WTF ?

In your opinion this is easier of Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus ? NGS+ was damn easy compared to this Hell Mode, I really don't agree with you and in my honest opinion you should be more objective, you said that Hell mode was damn Hard and you spent 10 hours trying the final boss, so you shouldn't rate this game with this rate...

Its from platinum rating overall. When more people platinum and rate it then I'll adjust rating accordingly.

I gave it a 10/10 at first. But now after a full evaluation, it deserves lower rating.

I was objective... I don't rate based on my perspective. I rate for the average gamer.

I gave it a 10/10 at first. But now after a full evaluation, it deserves lower rating.

I was objective... I don't rate based on my perspective. I rate for the average gamer.

Lower Rating ? So in your opinion this Hell mode is easier than Master Ninja of NG2 and NGS+ platinum ?

Yeah...

Sure its hard but its quick platinum. I don't disagree with your opinion. I don't rate based on difficulty alone... I rate based on difficulty and time it takes to get platinum.

My rating is:

10/10 Difficulty + 6/10 Time Consumption = 8/10 Overall Rating.

Ah, it was only for the Time Consumption that you rated so low, right ?

I understand... That game was addicting on day 1...

Ok i beat 1 mission :) started on Hard. Game is not really like Ninja gaiden so anyone should not expect that. Game is very linear, almost just made for 2d.

Seems all u do is mash the square button lol. But the game is quite fun actually :) Will se though on higher difficulties.

Yeah, at first its easy and fun then you run into some bs every now and then... Once you play hell mode, you'll feel the pain. Anyways, good luck!

This is your first impression, when you'll go forward and when you'll understand this gameplay you'll say that this is a great gameplay with a lot of combos and skill, just like classic NG is ;)
