Overview

  • Estimated difficulty: 5/10.
  • Estimated time to platinum: 25-30 hours.
  • Minimum number of play-throughs needed: 2.
  • Trophy breakdown: 51 (38 (B), 10 (S), 2 (G), 1 (P)).
    • Offline: All.
    • Online: None.

    [*]Missable trophies: None.

    [*]Glitched trophies: None.

    [*]Does difficulty affect trophies? Yes.

[*]Do cheats disable trophies? Yes, but there is a possible work-around. See below.

[*]Special hardware required for platinum? Not applicable.

Road Map

I highly recommend the following route:

Step 1: Normal play-through and level select grinding. Play through the game on normal attempting to get every trophy you can along the way (except the one that requires you to beat the game on hard). You should also follow a collectible guide on this run. Here is a nice one provided once again from our sister-site: Xbox360A Wolverine Collectible Guide. Pretty much every boss has two trophies associated to them. So, keep this in mind. Don't worry too much because you can always go back with the level select to mop up any missed trophies. Also, if you want to check your progress with the various killing trophy requirements, there is stats screen in the pause menu. You will get many of these trophies during the natural course of the game. However, you may want to have a rough idea of what the trophies are so you can farm efficiently. If you complete the game on normal, do NOT start the game on hard until after you've obtained all the trophies except "Walking Death" and "Platinum". The reason for this is that none of your stats carry over to your new game.

Step 2: Hard play-through. Hard will unlock once you've beaten the game on normal.

Closing remarks: It has been suggested that there is a glitch that allows you to use cheats without a penalty to trophies. I can't personally confirm this, but the method and cheats are given here: Cheat work-around (see specifically post #10).

EDIT: Muthafodder states that some of the codes given in the link above are incorrect. AGAIN, I CAN'T PERSONALLY CONFIRM ANY OF THIS BECAUSE I DIDN'T PLAY WITH THE CHEATS. Here is a link to his post persumably with the correct information: Muthafodder Cheat Corrections.

Thanks to Hiruko_Spew for starting a guide. I just thought it needed some ellaboration and finishing touches. No offense. Also, thanks to MadcatNL for his informative guide over at our sister site. A couple of the ideas are taken from there (with credit).
In the skydive (second) part of the Sentinel fight, a ton of debris will fly of his body as you including a very large "O ring". You have to navigate Wolverine "through" this O ring. I say "through" because you don't actually go through, at least I didn't. I got walloped by the thing and the trophy still unlocked. :D I did get walloped towards the center though. So don't go thinking that you can just knick it.

Defeated Weapon 11 (Deadpool)
This is story-based. The trophy will unlock after you beat Dead Pool. This is the final boss. A lot of people struggle with this fight. The best way to attack Dead Pool is to start a counter and then follow up by non-stop ground attacks. You can usually link together about 4 or 5 ground attacks before Dead Pool teleports. When he does this, close the gap between the two of you until you're close enough for a lunge attack. Perform one to close the remaining gap quickly. This way you can avoid getting shot off the platform by his pesky laser. When you get close again, repeat the counter/ground attack combo. Wash and repeat until he drops. This may take a couple of tries so don't get discouraged.

Miscellaneous Trophies

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/113/007.jpg Getting Started (B)

Killed 100 enemies

See "What I Do Best".

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/113/008.jpg A Day's Work (B)

Killed 500 enemies

See "What I Do Best".

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/113/009.jpg What I Do Best (S)

Killed 2000 enemies

You shouldn't need to farm this trophy. However, if you've gotten all other trophies during in your "normal" playthrough (i.e. all other trophies except "Walking Death" and "Platinum"), then just pick your favorite level with a lot of easy enemies. I like level 1.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/113/011.jpg Lunge (B)

Lunged to 25 enemies

See "You Can't Hide".

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/113/012.jpg Pounce (B)

See "You Can't Hide Trophy".

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/113/010.jpg You Can't Hide (B)

Lunged to 250 enemies

In the game's first level, you will learn how to perform a lunge attack (hold R1 to lock on an enemy, then press L1 lunge). Each lunge that results in the death of the enemy counts towards your total.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/113/013.jpg Piggy Back Ride (B)

Lunged to a W.E.N.D.I.G.O prototype's back

The Prototypes have multiple attacks. One of their bigger ones results in them being stalled momentarily. During one of these, you want to dash behind them and perform a lunge attack. This will mount you on their back and allow you to pummel them for a little while. After you successfully do this for the first time, the trophy will pop. (This is also the most effective way to kill these ogres.) For a reminder on how to perform a lunge, see "You Can't Hide".

Quick Killed 1 enemy

See "Efficient Killer".

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/113/015.jpg Efficient Killer (B)

Quick Killed 20 enemies

To do a quick kill grab a enemy with circle then immediately press triangle. You will go into a short slow-mo animation during which Wolverine's arm will flash and you will hear a small chime. At this point, press triangle again to execute the execution.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/113/016.jpg Perfect Killer (B)

Quick Killed 3 enemies in a row

You have to perform 3 quick kills in succession. See "Efficient Killer" for a reminder on how to perform a quick kill.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/113/017.jpg Drop Dead (B)

Killed 10 enemies by throwing them off high areas

Grab enemies with circle and direct where you want to throw them with the left analogue stick. Good areas to farm this are the tower in chapter 3 and the second to last checkpoint in chapter 4 (right before the boss fight).

Raised One Combat Reflex to Master Level

See "Samurai".

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/113/019.jpg Samurai (S)

Raised All Combat Reflexes to Master Level

(Note: The following is paraphrased from MadcatNL's Xbox360a guide.) Wolverine has five Combat Reflexes, which all have three levels. You improve your level by beating enemies that fit in the type of reflex. The five reflexes are:

  • Machete: This goes up by killing enemies with machetes. Grinding can be done on level one, checkpoint one, level three checkpoints one and three and level five, checkpoint one.
  • Machine Gunner: This goes up by killing enemies with machine guns. Grinding can basically be done in all chapters, level one, section three and on, and level four section three are advisable these feature most machine gunners.
  • Jungle Mutants: This goes up by killing Hunters, Shifters and Levathians. Grinding is best in level five, checkpoint one.
  • Robots: This goes up by killing robots like the Enforcer Droid, Predator Unit and Mark 1 Prototype. Grinding is best done in level three, from checkpoint two on
  • Specialized Military Units: This goes up by killing Elite Commandos, Goliaths, W.E.N.D.I.G.0 Prototype's, Ghosts and Grenadiers. Grinding can be done on level four, checkpoint three or the last checkpoint of level three (where you fight four W.E.N.D.I.G.0 Prototypes).

Once you find the Samurai Mutagen make sure to equip this, as this advances your reflexes faster. You would need approximately two playthroughs to get all reflexes to master level. If you grind one section the time you need will depend on the section you play.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/113/020.jpg Mutant Lover (B)

Raised one Mutagen to level 3

Mutagen power-ups can be found throughout the game and each type has three levels. Find each power-up for a given type and the trophy will unlock.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/113/037.jpg Fully Loaded (B)

Maxed out all upgrades

You acquire XP from killing enemies and breaking things. XP increases your level. Each time you level up you get skill points. Skill points can be spent on upgrades. Upgrades can be upgraded with more skill points. You will have to kill a lot to get everything fully upgraded. Be prepared for a bit of grinding.

You will encounter enemies with rocket launchers beginning in level 2. When they shoot a rocket towards you block it with R2 just before it makes contact and you'll send the rocket hurtling back to them. (This is one of the more physically ridiculous game mechanics in this game.)

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/113/028.jpg Ultimate Wolverine (B)

Fought 4 W.E.N.D.I.G.0 prototypes at the same time and defeated them at Alkali lake.
You can only get during the Alkali Lake boss fight against Agent Zero. He will initiate the fight by shooting out one of the tanks holding a WENDIGO. It may be by chance that the other three tanks don't get busted up. You do NOT want this to happen. To take matters into your own hands, just go to the tank and bust it open. I recommend taking out one WENDIGO at a time as things can get pretty nasty if you're up against all four at once.

EDIT: In some of the posts below, it's been suggested that all four WENDIGOs have to alive at the same time for this trophy to pop. I honestly can't remember if all four were alive at the same time when I went for it. But I could've sworn that I had two alive at once, killed one then busted open a tank to release the third. Anyhow, a known strategy is to whittle the first one down, bust open the second tank. Whittle the second one down. Bust open the third tank, whittle the third one down and then finally bust open the fourth and whittle. At this stage, all the WENDIGOs will be low health and then you can pick them off, one by one.

Note: The icon for this trophy IS correct. It seems that the devs made a slight slip up and gave this trophy the same icon as that of the platinum.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/113/032.jpg Hot Potato (B)

Light 20 enemies on fire

Lighting enemies on fire can be a bit tricky. The easies way to do this (and really the only way that I know of) is to light yourself on fire and then attack an enemy to transfer the flames. A good place to farm this is checkpoint 3 of level 3. Kill the Shifters to start then kick the "fire block" down to the ground floor. Do NOT kill the main machete enemy, since he'll be spawning the other machete enemies you DO want to kill. Use the block to light yourself on fire, then kill the other enemies while lit up. If you accidently kill the main machete guy just go to the next room to activate the savepoint. Quit, then restart the process.

EDIT: It's come to my attention that there may be a better way to do this:

I've discovered a MUCH easier and faster way of getting Hot Potato on Wolverine. Its on the same part that you mention in the guide with the Shifters you kill first and then leave the Spawner while you light up the Machetes he spawns but instead of lighting yourself up and then attacking them - which worked for me maybe 1 out of every 10 machetes - instead of doing that just use the Batman Arkham esque flip over them with L2 & R2 and it lights them up each and every time 100%.

Not only that but it doesn't kill them so you can do it again and again on the same enemies and I got from 2/20 to 20/20 and the trophy in less than about 3 mins.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/113/033.jpg Shotgun Epic Fail (B)

Killed 25 Ghosts with their own weapon

Ghosts appear for the first time in level 2. They have the ability to turn themselves invisible. However, you can still see them when in Feral Sense. (So, use it!) Grab them and hammer triangle to turn their shotguns on themselves and blow their brains out. Awesome.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/113/036.jpg Aerial Master (B)

Got 6 enemies airborne at once

Do NOT attempt this until you've upgraded the ground attack. There are plenty of locations that this can be done (anywhere where 6 or more enemies are attacking you at once. This is the one suggest by MadcatNL:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpdO3wpdM0Q]Aerial Master[/ame]

Alternatively, Viarco has this to say:

On Chapter 3 "Days of Future Begginings", on Checkpoint "Finding Agent Zero", there's a point right at the beggining where you have to lunge yourself to a guard to clear a huge gap. After that, you'll be on top of a really narrow bridge. Kill the first to Machine Gunners then head for the Machetes. At this point, you'll face two regular Machetes and two Spawners, which will spawn two Machetes at a time, making it 8 targets for you to lift, all launching themselves towards you, in a very narrow space. And even if you only hit 4 the first time, if you do a second ground shake, you'll definitely have enough enemies on your second try.

I think its a lot better than the video alternative because the space is really narrow in this situation. You can also try "Slice n' Dice" here but I don't know if the Machetes that fall down the bridge count towards your kill count...

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/113/038.jpg Slice n' Dice (B)

Killed 6 enemies with a single attack

You need the same set-up as Aerial Master: 6 enemies around swarming you. Also, it will be easier to get this if you have your Berserker and Claw Spin abilities fully upgraded. Try to face enemies that are fairly week. Put yourself in Berserker mode and perform a Claw Spin. If 6 or more enemies die before your Claw Spin runs out, then the trophy is yours.

To get this trophy just grab enemies while you're close to Spikes or other object that you can impale enemies on. The game will automatically make you impale the enemy.

Beat the game on Hard Difficulty

Hard is only unlocked after you beat the game on normal. You should not attempt the game on hard until after you've unlock all the other trophies (except the Platinum, of course). The reason for this is that none of you stats carry over. You have been warned twice.

On the Aerial Master Trophy I found if you have fully upgraded your claws and are killing the soldiers...the best place is on the 2nd chapter on the bridge to nowhere section(After you blow up the truck w/ c4)...youll have to cross the bridge and there is like at least 8 guys or more and they are the harder to kill guys so its the best place ive found to do it yet.

Finally, it has been suggested that there is a glitch that allows you to use cheats without a penalty to trophies. I can't confirm this, but the method and cheats are given here:

Cheat work-around

I can confirm that enabling cheats do not affect acquiring trophies.

I have turned on infinite rage and health and x2 combo reflex gain. While having these codes on, I have gotten the 2000 Kills trophy, Bloodlust, Weapon X, Dead Pool, Hot Potato, and the Raise 1 Mutagen to Max lvl (i for got what it called)

ANYWAYS, You can still get trophies if you turn on cheat codes mid game then exit to main menu and start the mission either from last checkpoint or the begining. It also works if you've beat the game and have the "stage select". You don't need to enter the codes again until you actually Exit the game and go back to the XMB.

Thanks.

BTW my trophycard is weird, it only updates like 2 times a week or something like that. If for some reason you do not believe i have gotten the trophies mentioned, hop on your PS3 and compare trophies with me.

Yeah, I can confirm this. The trophy will not be awarded unless all four are free and alive at the same time.

I managed to do it quite easily though. I fought the first one until it was very low on health, then freed the second one and got its health down, then did the same for the third one and finally freed the last one. From there, it was easy to pick the first three off very quickly, and then I could concentrate on the last one.

It takes a bit of strategizing but it helps a lot if you can do it. Just make sure you don't kill any of them until the last one is free. And also try to keep the one(s) you're fighting away from the tanks, they'll break them if they run through them.
