Introduction:

Charles Xavier is dead and San Francisco is a hotbed of human-mutant conflict. This is the situation you are being dropped into as a brand new mutant to the X-Men universe. Choose your backstory, choose your mutant power, and choose your alliances as you try to carve out your place in this new conflict.

X-Men: Destiny is a beat 'em up action game where you get to choose and evolve one of three mutant powers. Leveling up powers and abilities is very straightforward but with the addition of X-genes from famous X-Men characters, it is very fun and varied. The levels are pretty linear but each one is unique and fun to explore.

The load screen at the main menu of the game allows for both mission and challenge selection, meaning that there are no missable trophies. In fact, because the difficulty trophies stack and you can revisit any mission at any time, the (P) for this game can be achieved in just one playthrough with limited mission clean up for missed trophies.

Walkthrough:

Playthrough 1 on X-Treme Difficulty

In this full playthrough, you will be playing on the highest difficulty. Most trophies should pop as you play through the game normally but any that you happen to miss will be addressed in the following steps.

As you go through the game, you will be presented with choices where you must decide to support either the X-Men or Brotherhood faction. For this first playthrough, choose one faction and stick with them for the entire course of the game in order to get the corresponding story trophies.

You should also attempt to pick up as many collectibles (propaganda posters, dossier files, and challenges) as possible during this playthrough. Stargate55555 has produced a comprehensive collectibles guide [thread=126492]here[/thread]. The collectibles you've collected or are missing can be tracked for each mission in the pause screen statistics, as well as in the mission select portion of the load menu. Don't be afraid if you miss a few collectibles as you can revisit old missions at any time.

Additionally, you'll likely pick up quite a few combat and other miscellaneous trophies during this playthrough. Don't feel the need to actively go after these trophies as any that you don't get just by playing can be cleaned up later (such as the get X kills of this enemy trophies).

Step 2: Mission Replays/Story Cleanup

In this step you have two choices. You can choose to do a New Game+ with your same character, keeping all of your X-Genes and powers, but resetting your faction status. To do this, simply choose to continue from the main menu, or from the load screen go to your character file and choose continue there. From there playthrough the game again, siding with the opposing faction of your initial playthrough and picking up any collectibles you still need.

Alternatively, you can utilize the mission select feature of the load screen to go back to the specific missions where you've missed a collectible or where there's a trophy for supporting the other faction.

Step 3: Challenge/Combat Cleanup

At this point, all of the collectible and story trophies should be taken care of and all that should remain is completing any challenges you may have failed during the story and finishing up those pesky "Kill X enemies of this group" trophies.

Use [thread=126492]StarGate's Collectible Guide[/thread] to track down any challenges you may be missing. Then, to complete any of these missions, go to the load screen from the main menu and choose Challenge Select.

Once you've completed all of the challenges, you now need to focus on killing enough of each enemy type. You can accomplish this by replaying certain missions from the game or by replaying challenges again. The best missions and challenges for each type of enemy are described in the corresponding trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/770/12.jpgDavid Beats Goliath (B) (H)

Defeat Sublime.

Story related and cannot be missed.
At the end of Mission 4, you will have to fight off Sublime, the U-Men leader. This fight has 3 stages:

Stage 1: Colossus Sublime

For the first part of the fight, Sublime will have Colossus's armor and super strength. His attacks will consist of charging at you, swiping at you, and pounding the ground so debris falls from the sky. Rely on fast attacks and do your best to keep your distance.

Stage 2: Quicksilver Sublime

In the second stage, Sublime also has super speed. He has all the same attacks but he's much quicker. Keep up the same strategy as stage 1 but whenever Sublime moves to the middle of the room to heal run to one of the four generators and hit :cross:. He will try and heal 4 times.

Stage 3: Surge Sublime

In this stage, you won't be able to damage giant Sublime initially. Keep dodging his attacks. He will ground pound and create a blue shockwave, hit the wall to drop debris, and eventually pound the ground and get his fist stuck. At this point, climb the tower in the middle and start attacking his head. You'll get in a few hits and then need to jump down. After you jump down, Sublime will attack with an energy ray that follows you around the room. Attack his head 4 times to finish him off.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/770/17.jpgBetter than the Best (B) (H)

Defeat more enemies than Wolverine in the Prime Enforcer factory.
You will first encounter Wolverine in the subway early on in Mission 5:Uncovered. Wolverine will hear a noise and lead you to a room full of Purifiers where you must defeat more soldiers than him. I suggest using area of effect and wide area attacks and going towards larger clumps of enemies. Wolverine's attacks are fast, but typically only harm one or two enemies at a time, so you should be able to get your count over his relatively easily.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/770/13.jpgShock and Awe(B) (H)

Defeat Cameron Hodge.

Story related and cannot be missed.
At the end of Mission 5, you will again encounter Hodge, this time with an upgraded suit. This battle is divided into two halves.

Part 1: Hodge will summon 3 Purifiers at a time to assist him. He will also attack by firing off a series of missiles and by flying into the air and crashing down after a series of red columns come together to designate a crash zone. Again, you will need to where down Hodge's armor before you can touch his health, so keep attacking him while being sure to dodge his projectiles and avoiding his crash zone. Once you knock off half of his health, a mini break will occur where you briefly speak to Hodge before continuing.

Part 2: Hodge will still be firing missiles at you but his suit will be moving much slower now. His movements will be really slow but he will also have a strong new punch attack to watch out for, so it's best to get a few quick hits on him and jump back away, wearing him down little by little.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/770/05.jpgThe Choice Is Made http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Make third power destiny choice.

Story related and cannot be missed.
In Mission 6:Priorities, you will enter a factory through a vent on the roof and be quickly surprised by a Purifier Stalker that bursts into the room. At this point you will get to make your final power choice.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/770/22.jpgMutant Tracker (B) (H)

Rescue Caliban.

Story related and cannot be missed.
In Mission 6 after a fight involving a Purifier Stalker, you will have a brief chance to chat with Bastion before Forge bursts into the room. After speaking with Forge, he will free Caliban from his holding cell.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/770/15.jpgLogan's Run (B) (H)

Help Emma Frost turn Wolverine back to normal.

Story related and cannot be missed.
In Mission 6 while searching for Pixie with the help of Caliban, you will encounter a feral Wolverine. The trick to this fight is to pile on the damage to Wolverine quickly, and to continue attacking nonstop. If you give Wolverine any kind of break, his healing factor will undo a lot of your hard work. The fight will be broken up twice with Wolverine jumping away to some near by scaffolding. Nonstop offense is really the best method for this fight.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/770/14.jpgAn Unstoppable Force (B) (H)

Defeat Magneto and Juggernaut.

Story related and cannot be missed.
This battle occurs at the very end of Mission 6 after you've finally made it to Pixie and the fight is divided into 3 segments.

Part 1: You will be on an elevated bridge and Cyclops will be trapped in a cage of metal debris. Juggernaut will be stomping and charging at you and Magneto will be hurling cars at you, as well as burst of energy if you get too close to him. Do not try and hurt either opponent but focus on destroying Cyclops cage. Twice in the battle after damaging the cage enough, Magneto will move it to a different location. Once you break the cage the next part begins.

Part 2: Here you will just be fighting Juggernaut. His attacks are very slow and predicatable, but he hits hard so always be prepared to dash out of his range. Otherwise, take advantage of your speed to land combos on him and finish him off quickly.

Part 3: It's you against Magneto. You will start at one end of the alley and you must run towards the other end, dodging quite a bit of large debris that Magneto will be hurling at you. Once you make it across, beat up on Cyclops' cage. Once free, he will distract Magneto, allowing you to actually damage him. This will need to be repeated a total of 4 times.

Join Cyclops and the X-Men.

Story related. This is an X-Men faction choice.
After defeating Magneto and Juggernaut, you will have to declare your allegiance to either the X-Men or the Brotherhood. Side with Cyclops for this trophy.

Finish the game on X-treme difficulty.

X-treme difficulty is instantly available when you install the game, and because the difficulty trophies stack, completing the game on X-treme will unlock all three trophies.

Even on this difficulty, there are very few tricky enemies or battles in this game. The best advice that can be given is to equip and level up X-genes that fit your playstyle. If you're playing as a brawler, give yourself extra health bars and give yourself attacks that inflict some kind of status change to enemies. If you rely more on frequent power use and ranged fighting, then give yourself X-genes that give you extra M-bars or that help your M-meter refill quickly.

Alternatively, Solid_Fantasy has identified the following work around to get all the difficulty trophies while playing most of the game on New Mutant difficulty:

1: beat game

2: click continue

3: Select Xtreme

4: quit to main menu

5: Load up last level (just the final boss, don't get worried)

6: finish it

Combat Trophies

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/770/31.jpgBeginner's Luck http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Complete your first Great combo.

This should come very easily over the course of the game. Keep stringing together multiple hits and try to avoid enemy attacks.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/770/32.jpgThis can't be happening! http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Complete your first Insane combo.

This level of combo is also likely to come naturally while playing the game. However, if you are having difficulty achieving a high enough combo, you can almost always get an Insane combo by using your Ultra power (described below in Fight Terror with Terror) on a large group of enemies.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/770/34.jpgBroken Glass, Everywhere... http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Break 30 Combat Text Pop Ups.

Combat text pop ups appear very commonly throughout the game and are actually solid game objects that you can destroy. They typically appear for achieving high length combos or to inform you of how many enemies remain. While this trophy should be easily achieved just by playing through the game, if you are worried, always direct your attacks toward a message when it pops up and when you destroy it you will hear a glass shattering sound effect.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/770/28.jpgI've Got the Power http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Fully level up a power.

See Fully Evolved.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/770/29.jpgFully Evolved http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

Fully level up all powers.

Your character will have 5 different mutant powers, and each power can be evolved and leveled up multiple times. You start with one base power, which has 4 levels, and you acquire 3 additional powers from the power destiny choices, as well as 1 ultra power. Each of these has 3 different levels.

Leveling up all of your powers will require quite a bit of XP. Luckily, you should hit this number easily while you grind out the various enemy type kills listed below. It's best to level up the few select X-genes you use most often, and devote the overwhelming majority of your XP to leveling up your mutant powers.

Defeat 10 enemies with one Ultra power.

You don't receive your Ultra power until Level 7. About halfway through this level, you will encounter Gambit and his Externals. Together you will charge at a large group of MRD troops and Purifier mechs, at which point you will gain access to your Ultra power. With the number of enemies present in this fight, you should be able to get this trophy simply by activating your Ultra power immediately.

Defeat 2000 Purifiers.

This is likely the easiest of the kill related trophies. Purifiers are the basic enemy type you fight from the very beginning of the game. You will likely kill quite a few just by playing the game and you will defeat even more while you farm kills for the rarer enemy types listed below.

If you are struggling to get Purifier kills, the challenge mission listed in Reinforced allows you to get close to 100 kills each playthrough. Additionally, during the closing credits to the game, you and your faction are in an arena full of basic Purifier soliders. The credits are long enough that you can use your Ultra power multiple times and defeat a couple hundred enemies before the challenge ends (you also receive a cool Retro outfit for your character).

Defeat 20 Purifier Stalker Mechs.

Purifier Stalker Mechs are the large 2 legged walker robots that first appear midway through Mission 4. These robots have 3 basic attacks: a large stomp that produces a shockwave, a series of small stomps when you get too close, and a barrage of bullets from its machine guns. To damage these robots, you must first attack their legs until they collapse and then attacking their backside will do damage to their health.

You do not encounter many of these throughout the game, but after the game Stalker Mech kills are best farmed in either the Surge challenge mission from Mission 4 (Row 2, picture 4 on the Select Challenge screen) or the second Purifier challenge mission found in Mission 5 (Row 3, picture 3 on the Select Challenge screen).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/770/45.jpgReinforced http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Defeat 20 Prime Enforcers.

Prime Enforcers are the Purifier enemies that appear in suits similar to the boss Cameron Hodge. There attacks are all the same as Hodge's and like Hodge, you must first destroy their shields before you can damage their health.

You first encounter them in the prison break style challenge mission given by Quicksilver or Colossus in Mission 4. This challenge consists of you and your faction ally fighting 100 Purifiers on a helicopter pad, with 1 Prime Enforcer that arrives towards the end of the fight. After you play through the game, this is the best challenge mission to farm kills on. On the Select Challenge screen, it is the first mission in row 3, featuring a picture of both the X-Men and Brotherhood logos.

Defeat 30 U-Men in the Secret Lab.

U-Men first appear in Mission 4, and are the enemies in giant bubble helmets you encounter in the hidden laboratory. While you don't encounter many of them throughout the game, you can farm U-Men kills in the U-Men challenge mission you pick up in Mission 4. On the Select Challenge load screen, this is the second to last challenge in row 2, and pictures a U-Man with a red X covering him.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/770/48.jpgThe Goon Squad http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Defeat 500 MRD Troops.

MRD Troops are first encountered towards the end of Mission 6. They come in two varieties, soldiers with mutant powers and miniature looking versions of the Sublime boss from the U-Men lab.

The good thing about these enemies is that you encounter a TON of them in Mission 7. If you need to grind out MRD kills, the best challenge to do it in Forge's challenge mission (it is the very last challenge mission in the Select Challenge menu). In this mission, you and a reprogrammed Purifier Stalker will fight off a giant horde of MRD troops. There are plenty of blue crates around to recharge your M-meter so let loose with your Ultra Attack often to rack up a large number of kills quickly.

just a quick note attack

it helps if you make the LINKS in bold or different color (blue) or even both.

just FYI

for Completionist trophy there is 1 challenge that has no timer on it that i know of.

that is Forge's challenge defeating 150 enemies i think

Thanks for the advice. I had been planning on bolding the links and I had forgotten about he lack of timer on that last challenge.

If there's any specific areas or bosses people would like more info on, please let me know and I'll add it to the guide.
