Introduction

World Snooker Championship Real 2011 (often shortened to WSC Real '11) is a game centered around the sport of snooker, with additional modes offered in both 8 ball and 9 ball. All the recognizable faces from the sport are present in this very realistic, patience required game. The game sees you create your own character, allowing you to participate in all of the official tournaments and compete against the world's best players. The question is, have you got what it takes to claim the prestigious number 1 spot in the world rankings?

Walkthrough

Step 1: Snooker Season #1 and #2

There are 9 in-game trophies to earn in these two season modes, as well as others you will pick up along the way such as reaching certain standings in the world rankings. Play through both seasons and ensure that you win every single match, especially in the second season, as the final in-game trophy to earn is winning all the snooker trophies in one season. If you are on the verge of losing a match, hold :ps: and press "Quit Game". A good feature to take use of is :circle: when your opponent is taking their shot, as it skips it completely, cutting the time of each shot (and therefore frame/match) considerably.

Step 2: 8-Ball Season and Golden Cue Championship

Once you have earned all of the progressive snooker trophies, you will want to continue with these two competitions. To unlock the Golden Cue Championship, you must be crowned the champion of the 8-ball tournament so this is the next thing you'll want to win. Be sure to unlock both Golden Cue associated trophies.

Step 3: Miscellaneous Clean Up

After completing both of these competitions, you will notice that you may have missed some miscellaneous trophies in both the snooker season mode such as 147! and also the 8-Ball season mode such as High Jump, Curvaceous and Combo King. You will want to now return to these trophies and perform a general clear up of all that is left before heading online for the trophies in multiplayer.

Step 4: Entering The Realms of Online

Once all of the offline trophies have been completed, you will want to begin working on the online trophies. Although the online is very much deserted in terms of players, you can still very much earn all of these with a boosting partner.View this thread for further details on how to find a partner.

Glitched Trophies

Snappy Dresser (B)

Cue King (B)

Both of these trophies may not unlock straight away. The reason for this is unknown, but there is a solution. All that you have to do is continue through the season mode and win another tournament (at this stage you will have beaten all of them, so it's certain to be a repeat for you) and both of these should unlock. Also, the four trophies; Master, Skilled, Elite and Seasoned are not glitched. You may have viewed the world rankings half way through a season and noticed that you are in a position where one (or all) of the trophies should have unlocked for your rank. Do not worry, you have to wait until the end of the season for these to register. This is normal.

Get all trophies

As detailed in the trophy description, you must earn all of the following trophies and the platinum will automatically unlock. Congratulations when you get this.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/893/02.jpgLet's see that one again... (B)

View a replay with the Replay/Rewind feature

During a match in the season mode (snooker or 8-ball pool are both acceptable), press :select: to re-watch a shot that has already been played. You don’t have to tinker with any of the options once you have entered the replay feature, the trophy should unlock straight away upon entry.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/893/03.jpgIf at first... (B)

Resume play from an earlier shot using the Replay/Rewind feature

Again, you must be playing a match in the season mode (snooker or 8-ball are both acceptable) for this trophy to unlock. This can be done whilst earning the "Let’s see that one again...” trophy. After pressing :select: to view and replay an already taken shot, use :left: and :right: to choose which shot to play and then press :start: to retake the desired shot. Also, note that you can replay an opponent’s shot. The trophy will still unlock and it won’t be necessary to actually retake the shot yourself, your opponent will simply perform the shot again.

Win a non-Qualifier Snooker Championship match without using the Replay/Rewind feature to retake a shot

As detailed in the trophy description, you have to complete the requirements of this trophy in a snooker season mode game without using the replay/rewind feature. You may struggle to earn this as you’re learning the ropes of the game, but as you play more and more, you’ll notice that you’ll rely on using the feature less and less. Simply avoid pressing :select: throughout the entirety of the match and it’ll unlock. Please note that this isn’t a singular frame, but all the frames of the match combined. The minimum amount of frames you will have to play for this is 3, as the qualifying matches containing one singular frame do not count.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/893/05.jpgBad Habit (B)

Use the Replay/Rewind feature 10 times

As seen on “Let’s see that one again…”, you can access the replay/rewind feature by simply pressing :select: after a shot has been taken. Only season matches contribute to the required 10 uses, so ensure that you are playing in either an 8 ball season or a snooker season for this to unlock. Please note that you are not required to re-take shots for this trophy to unlock, entering replay mode is adequate enough. On that basis, you can easily enter replay mode, leave and resume with normal play, enter replay mode again and so on until you have performed it 10 times.

See “Veteran” for details on how to earn this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/893/07.jpgVeteran (B)

Win 50 online ranked matches

To win 50 matches and unlock this trophy, you have to be playing “Ranked Match” and not “Player Match”. To reach ranked matches, navigate from the main menu to the “Online” option by pressing :cross:. Next, go to the “Ranked Match” option, followed by either the “Create Match” or the “Quick Game” options (depending on whether you are hosting or your partner is). The options do not need to be changed, and the pool game modes do count, but choosing snooker is quicker if you are with a boosting partner as you have the ability to concede the frame the second the match starts. When you are ready, create the lobby and wait for your partner to join. Whoever takes the break will immediately press :start: and click “Concede Frame”. It does not matter whether you are hosting or not, the person taking break is totally random and therefore, by the time the first person reaches 50 wins, the second person won’t be far off. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/893/08.jpgHat Trick(B)

Win 3 online ranked matches in a row

It is quite possible that you will earn this whilst boosting the trophy “Veteran” as each time you play a match you have a 50% chance of your partner taking the break and conceding the match. With playing a total of 100 matches (providing both players require “Veteran”), it is likely that you and your partner both will win three in a row. To find a boosting partner, please visit the thread below:

Beat a higher ranked opponent in an online ranked match

To beat somebody that has a higher rank, or rather, a higher position in the leaderboard (when in the online list of options, the leaderboard is at the very bottom. You want to follow “Ranked“ once you get in), it has to be in a ranked match. If you are boosting, simply allow your partner to win a few frames first using the method provided in “Veteran” so that they are a higher rank than you, and then reverse the order and win yourself. To find a boosting partner, please visit the thread below:

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/893/10.jpgDominator (S)

Win an online ranked match without the opponent scoring

This requires the other player to not pot a single ball on the table, nor are they allowed to gain points through foul shots on your behalf. If you are playing against somebody normally, make sure that you leave nothing potable and keep tactical play in mind throughout the process. This is the key, even if you don’t amass excessive breaks. The main goal is to stop them from scoring, anything you score is merely a bonus. If you are earning this trophy with a boosting partner, you shouldn’t have any problems as when your partner concedes frames for the “Veteran” trophy, that counts as them not scoring any points and this trophy will unlock. Score 1000 Tournament Points in any online tournament

Without a boosting partner this trophy is virtually impossible to earn, as less than 50 people in the world have 1,000 points or more on the tournament leaderboard, the requirements of which you will need for this specific trophy.

With a boosting partner however, you can easily boost the requirements of this trophy, the only downside is that it is very time consuming. You can expect a time frame of at least 7 hours as you will be required to play a total amount of 8 or 9 tournaments (altogether, not for each boosting player) and provided both players are quick in starting the lobby and pressing ready, each tournament should take just under an hour. Please note that you do not need to boost this in one session. Your statistics save and even if you are through to the final, you do not lose this progression if you quit the game or turn off the console.

The first thing that you'll want to know is that you will need 3 PlayStation Network accounts each, for this boosting method to work. The reasoning behind this is because you need to get 2 accounts through to the semi-final each (4 in total to fill all available semi-final places), 2 of which will be required to progress into the final. Every time a player loses, they are automatically sent back to the qualifiers as they have lost in the tournament they are progressing in. This relates back to the requirement of having 3 accounts each as somebody in the semi-final/final can’t play against somebody in the qualifier round, nor can a finalist play a semi-finalist. Therefore, you will need to progress these players through on your own accord and ensure each of the main accounts has a path to the final. With this being the case, the order has to be kept to very strictly as otherwise certain accounts will be stuck in rounds with no way of getting their opponents to face them.

Your score is carried across from multiple tournaments, do not expect to earn this in one tournament as it is simply not the case. Just to remind you, you will roughly be required to play 8 or 9 tournaments for both players to hit the 1,000 point marker. Please be aware that you will need to alternate the order so that you take it in turns to win a tournament each, giving an equaled total of points and allowing both players to unlock the trophy at a similar time. Here is a key for what is demonstrated further down the page:

  • PLAYER 1A = The first player’s primary account. The account that you are striving for the 1,000 tournament points on.
  • PLAYER 1B = The first player’s secondary account. This is the first back up account to help progress the main accounts further into the competition and pick up more points.
  • PLAYER 1C = The first player’s third account. This is the second back up account to help progress the main accounts further into the competition and pick up more points.
  • PLAYER 2A = The second player’s primary account. The account that your boosting partner is striving to get the 1,000 tournament points on.
  • PLAYER 2B = The second player’s secondary account. This is your partner’s first back up account that will help the main accounts progress further into the competition and pick up more points.

Now that the key has been listed, I can list the boosting method without it looking confusing. This method has been practiced and perfected as the most suitable, relevant and quickest way to earn points. Both players’ main accounts will reach the final of the tournament, thus gaining more points along the way, resulting in a less amount of tournaments overall.

STEP 1) PLAYER2A VS PLAYER 1A (PLAYER 1A wins and goes through to the Semi-Final)

STEP 2) PLAYER2A VS PLAYER 1B (PLAYER 2A wins and goes through to the Semi-Final)

STEP 3) PLAYER 1B VS PLAYER 2B (PLAYER 1B wins and goes through to the Semi-Final)

STEP 4) PLAYER 2B VS PLAYER 1C (PLAYER 2B wins and goes through to the Semi-Final)

STEP 5) PLAYER 2B VS PLAYER 1A (PLAYER 1A wins and goes through to the Final)

STEP 6) PLAYER 2A VS PLAYER 1B (PLAYER 2A wins and goes through to the Final)

STEP 7) PLAYER 2A VS PLAYER 1A (PLAYER 1A wins the Final and earns the tournament)

Win an online tournament

There are three rounds of any tournament; qualifying, semi finals and the final. To beat the final and unlock this trophy, you have to win three times in a row without losing in any given tournament. As there are minimal people that play this online, you will struggle to earn this trophy normally and will more than likely need to resort to using this boosting thread to find a boosting partner. Please see “Conquerer” for details on how to successfully boost the tournament mode with a partner.

Edit your character

When you first load up the game and you enter the main menu, press :cross: to access “Edit Appearance” which is located on the list of options. Upon entering, you will be given four categories to modify your unique player: “Edit Body”, “Head”, “Face” and “Clothes”. It is sufficient to merely adjust one option and leave as you can edit your appearance at a later time, which you will come accustomed to when you have unlocked new equipment as you progress. Once you are content with your selection, hit :circle: and apply changes before exiting.

Collect all waistcoats

*Glitched*

There are a total of 30 waistcoats throughout the game, all of which will unlock as you progress throughout the snooker season mode. As you win each tournament, you will unlock more unique waistcoats. You will earn this after completing your last tournament. To view how many waistcoats you have currently, navigate from the main menu to “Profile” by pressing :cross:. Out of the list of options, you want to click on “Career”. Next, click “Game Progress” and your amount of waistcoats is the fourth and final statistic.

WARNING: This trophy may become glitched for you. Do not worry, it is fixable. Simply continue with the snooker season mode and win another tournament. Of course, by the time you should have this trophy, you will have technically earned all of the waistcoats. This doesn't matter, you may need to win the next tournament for this to unlock.

Spend 5 Skill Points

Once you have created your profile, press :cross: on “Profile” from the main menu. The fifth option down labelled “Skills” is where you will be able to access all of the available upgrades. You will be able to earn this before even playing in any season matches as you are given 10 usable skill points at the very start of the game. As you are required to spend 5 skill points, use :left: and :right: to spend a minimum of 5 skill points where you see fit. Once you are satisfied with your choices, hit :circle: and apply the changes.

This tournament is available by navigating from the main menu to the second option down, “Season”. Along with the World Championship trophy, there are 5 other in game trophies to collect in the very first snooker season. These are The China Open, The Masters, The Shangai Masters, The UK Championship and The Welsh Open. Simply win the qualifying rounds of each tournament followed by the four rounds of competition itself to bag each trophy. If you are about to lose a match, hold down the :ps: button and press “Quit Game” and return to the XMB. This will allow you to replay the match instead of waiting for the following season to come around to pick up the trophy. To view which trophies you have earned, simply follow “Profile” from the main menu and then press “Trophies”, the 6th option listed.

Win the Grand Prix

First and foremost, you can only participate in the Grand Prix and Pot Black events if you are ranked within the top 16 of the world rankings. The world rankings only update at the end of each season, meaning you can only participate in these events from the second season onwards if you manage to up yourself into the eligible 16. If not, you will have to wait another season. All you have to do is win each round that you play to win this tournament. If you are on the verge of losing, simply hold :ps: and press “Quit Game”. Reload the game up and you will have the opportunity to replay the match. This prevents you from losing and having to wait until the following season again.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/893/26.jpgQualified (B)

Qualify for a Championship

After starting a snooker season, you will be required to participate in and win four qualifier rounds before entering the first trophy competition. Provided that in the settings the match length is at the minimal 25%, each qualifier match consists of one singular frame. You will unlock this trophy once you successfully complete the fourth match.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/893/27.jpgWinner: 8 Ball Champ (S)

Win the 8 Ball Pool Championship

To access the 8 Ball Championship, the third option down on the main menu is "8 Ball Season". Click on that. Work your way through the competition and make sure that you win every single game you play. If you are on the verge of losing, hold :ps: down and press "Quit Game". This will allow you to reload the game and retry the match you were about to lose. If you lose, you will have to start the tournament from scratch. Winning this competition will unlock the Golden Cue Championship.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/893/28.jpgBlacked out (B)

Lose a frame by sinking the black

For this to work, you have to be playing in the 8 ball pool season. As qualifying matches only total to 1 frame, it is more convenient to attempt this during the latter stages of the competition, when the minimal amount of frames to play is 3 and you can simply win the remaining frames for it to not have any significance. All you have to do is pot the black ball (8 ball) before you have potted all of your object balls, whether they are stripes or spots. Doing so will lose you the frame, hence the reason why you are better to wait until there are multiple frames per game so you do not lose the match.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/893/29.jpgHigh Jump (B)

Perform 3 Jump shots

For this to register, you have to be playing 8-ball pool. Attempting this trophy in snooker or 9-ball pool will not work, so ensure that you are playing the correct game mode. To perform a jump shot (i.e. the Cueball travels in the air after making contact with the object ball), there are two different button combinations to muster up. First, you must raise the end (or butt) of the cue so you are in a position whereby the cue is no longer straight, but the tip is aiming downwards on the Cueball. To raise the bottom of the cue towards the sky, simply press :r1: followed by . Please note that if you raise the butt too high, the Cueball image at the top of the screen will have a noticeable red cross over it. This simply means that you have raised it too high and must lower it slightly. The second button combination that you must add to the already raised end of the cue is screw. To perform this, hold :l1: and push . Also note that if you apply too much screw, both the positional aid and the aiming aid will deplete to the potential point where both disappear completely. Make sure that you avoid this, it means that the Cueball will be too slow and will not make contact with the object ball, causing a foul shot. Another consideration is the power. You have to make sure there is enough power to cause the Cueball to have the “jump” effect but too much will cause it to jump off the table. The positional aid will help here as it gives you an indication of where the Cueball is going to land, if it is long and high the chances are it’ll end up off the table. These 3 shots have to be potted to work, so don’t get worried if you’ve played 3 jump shots, only potting 2 for example, and the trophy doesn’t unlock.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/893/30.jpgCurvaceous (B)

Perform 3 Swerve shots

For this to register, you have to be playing 8-ball pool. Attempting this trophy in snooker or 9-ball pool will not work, so ensure that you are playing the correct game mode. To perform a swerve shot, you have to perform a similar combination to “High Jump”. Raise the butt of the cue by holding :r1: and pushing . Ensure that the red cross does not appear on the Cueball image at the top of the screen as this will prevent you from taking the shot. If it occurs, lower it again by holding :r1: and pushing . You must also ensure that the cue is going to hit the Cueball on either the left hand bottom side or the right hand bottom side. To do this, hold :l1: and move :rs: until you are satisfied. Remember, you have to pot 3 times using this method, so make sure that you are doing so otherwise it will not count.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/893/31.jpgCombo King (B)

Perform 3 Combo Shots

A “Combo shot” is the term given when a player strikes the Cueball to the first object ball, which in turn makes contact with another object ball, which in turn is potted into one of the six bags/holes. Another term that is widely used and means the same thing is a “plant shot”. Make sure that both of the object balls you are bringing into play are of your designated type, hitting a stripe ball on to a spotted ball will result in a foul if the spotted ball is potted and you are on stripes.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/893/32.jpgPocket Prince (B)

Pot 2 or more balls on any single shot in the 8 ball season mode

This has to be done during the 8 ball season. Where possible, try to block a bag with your resultant object ball, whether it be stripes or spots (the more central over the bag, the more easily this can be achieved). Over the course of the next few shots that you play, line up another object ball towards the one currently lingering over the pocket. If you strike it fully central with no angle, at maximum power, both balls should drop into the pocket and the trophy will unlock. A good tip to maximize your chances of the second ball also being potted is to exert plenty of screw spin on the Cueball whilst taking the shot. To do this, hold :l1: and push

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/893/33.jpgRicochet Riot (B)

Perform 3 Bank shots

A bank shot is a shot whereby the player hits the Cueball on to an object ball, which in turn bounces off a cushion and is potted into one of the six bags on the table. Another widely used term for this type of shot is a “double”, but they both have the same meaning and the term you use will be dependent on your geographical location. Make use of the extended view if needed by pressing :r2: and should you miss, press :select: to access the replay/rewind feature.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/893/34.jpgBreak Ace (B)

Perform a Break Ace by potting the 9 ball from the break in any 9 ball match

Before I begin, this trophy very much relies on luck as opposed to skill or tactics. You will most likely have to retry this over and over again as it is tough to pot the 9 ball from break. Firstly, you will need to enter “Quick Match” from the main menu’s list of options by pressing :cross:. Once you have proceeded, you will receive a list of sub options that separate the game modes. Click on 9 ball to proceed. You need to be taking break, so if the opponent gets given the break, simply press :start: and quit back to the main menu. Repeat until you get break. As it is a quick match, you will be randomly assigned to a player. For the best results, you need a highly skilled player, preferably ranked in the top 10. The reason for this is that these players have higher skills, and therefore this trophy will be made slightly easier. Once you are happy with the player you have been assigned and you are given break, you are ready to go.

Pick up the Cueball by pressing :square: and move it as far forward as you can, which is on the white baulk line. Now carry on moving the Cueball until it hits the farthest it can go towards the right hand side, so now in perspective to looking at the table from behind the baulk line, the Cueball should be in the furthest top right location possible. When you are happy it is in the correct location, simply press :square: again to drop it back on the table. As you aim for the first ball using the :ls:, make sure that the Cueball is lined up so that you are hitting the thinnest point on the right hand side of the object ball. Ensure that you have increased the power to the maximum by pressing  and also put full top spin on the Cueball by holding :l1: and pushing  to the maximum. This may take quite a few attempts but rest assured it is one of the quickest methods. Here are some images I have taken of how the shot should roughly be lined up:

http://i41.tinypic.com/20qnck6.pnghttp://i42.tinypic.com/lcqxv.png

Should you fail first time, which is very likely, press :select: and replay the shot by pressing :start:. As you are on quick play, you have unlimited access to the replay function, thus meaning you can keep attempting to pot the 9 ball from break over and over again without any interruptions.

For this to work, you have to be playing in the 8-ball season mode. Once you have started a match, make sure that you are the player taking the first shot (the break into the pack of object balls). If you are not, simply quit to the XMB by holding :ps: and pressing “Quit Game”. Once you have the break, you must ensure that you pot. Without potting, the other player will be given a shot to play. If you miss, simply use the replay/rewind feature by pressing :select: and then press :start: to retake the shot. You get 3 attempts to retake a shot, so make sure that you pot in these 3 attempts. If you fail all 3 times, simply quit to the XMB like previously stated, rinse and repeat until you pot. After potting from the first shot, simply clear all of the balls that you have selected and finish with the number 8 black ball.

Win all frames in a Golden Cue match

In a Golden Cue match, there are three different stages per match. In order of appearance, there are 7 frames of snooker, 3 frames of 9 ball and 3 frames of 8 ball (totaling at 13 frames per opponent). You do not have to have win all 13 frames for this, you simply have to win all of the frames in one particular game type. For example, winning the 7 frames of snooker will work sufficiently. Alternatively, winning the 3 frames of 9 ball/8 ball will work just as efficiently but as it amounts to 4 frames less, it’s obviously a lot quicker. To play in the Golden Cue Championship, navigate from the main menu to “Golden Cue” after unlocking it via the 8-ball tournament.

Win the Golden Cue Championship

The Golden Cue Championship is locked when you first start the game. The only way of accessing the competition is by successfully winning the 8-Ball Championship. Once you have done so, the Golden Cue Championship becomes playable. There are 4 rounds of the Golden Cue Championship; you have to win all four to win the competition. Each of the four rounds has 13 frames, differentiating from snooker (7), 8 ball (3) and 9 ball (3).

Collect all Trophies

*Glitched*

These trophies are NOT the PlayStation 3 trophies, they are in game trophies that are collectable throughout the span of the season modes. There are a total of 11 trophies to earn and once you have collected the last, this should unlock. Here is the list of the 11 trophies in the game that you must earn:

  • China Open
  • World Championship
  • Grand Prix (This is not collectable in the first season as you have to be ranked in the top 16 in the world rankings to participate)
  • Masters
  • Pot Black Event (This is not collectable in the first season as you have to be ranked in the top 16 in the world rankings to participate)
  • Shangai Masters
  • UK Championship
  • Welsh Open
  • 8 Ball Championship
  • Golden Cue Championship
  • Win all events in one snooker season. This is the final trophy you will unlock. It does not mean when you have unlocked all of the trophies, you have to win them all back to back in the same season. This isn’t possible until the second season as the Pot Black Event and Grand Prix are not available until you are ranked in the top 16, which you cannot be until the second season onwards.

To view which trophies you have earned, navigate from the Main Menu to “Profile”. When you enter the next list of options, you want to click on “Trophies” which will give you the complete list of what you have achieved. Those that have an icon of a lock are the ones you are yet to unlock. Please note that the online tournament does not count towards this trophy.

WARNING: This trophy may become glitched for you. Do not worry, it is fixable. Simply continue with the snooker season mode and win another tournament. Of course, by the time you should have this trophy, you will have technically won all of the in-game trophies before. This doesn't matter, you may need to win the next tournament for this to unlock

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/893/39.jpgSimulation Stimulation (B)

Win a Snooker Season match without either the Aiming Aid or Positional Aid active

As this involves removing both the positional and aiming assistance lines, attempting this trophy may seem quite intimidating. However, there is a way around this. On the main menu, go to the last option on the list which is called "Options" and proceed. Turn off both the positional aid and the aiming aid and then press :circle: and apply the settings. Then proceed to the snooker season mode and play the next match. You can press :start: and change the options so both features are turned on before taking the first shot, allowing you to get the position you require. Don't worry about turning it on and off before taking each shot so that it doesn't register as them being used, it has been confirmed that you can play the whole match through without turning it back off. However, you do have to turn it off before the end of the match. If you are on a high break in which the opponent is likely to concede if he is given a shot, simply head to the options again by pressing :start: and press the "Options" button. Turn both of these back off so the trophy will register, then deliberately miss your shot and allow your opponent to concede the frame/match.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/893/42.jpg147! (S)

Earn a score of 147 in a single visit to the table without using the Rewind feature

Despite what the trophy description reads, you can use the replay/rewind feature for this trophy too, as the developers haven't issued a patch to fix this. On that basis, if you miss a shot during the frame, simply press :select: followed by :start: and confirm that you want to retake the shot again. Although this makes life easier in getting the 147, do not rely on it as you are only permitted to 3 retakes.

As 147 is the absolute maximum you can achieve (disregarding foul shots, which would put the maximum at 155) on a break, you must only pot the highest scoring points in game. This will be amassed by successfully potting all 15 reds with 15 successive blacks in between each red (gaining 120 points), and then continuing the break with all 6 colour balls (yellow, green, brown, blue, pink, black) to finish off the clearance without missing. Once again, using :r2: and :triangle: will aid you in completing this feat. If you are struggling to amass a break of 147 early on in the game, carry on into the season modes to unlock further skill upgrades which will make your life easier here. Please note, when you reach the very last black ball in the frame, a text box will appear giving you the option to call the frame. Do not call the frame, it will prevent you from potting the final black, thus only giving you a potential break of 140 instead of 147. If you want to watch an example of somebody reaching a 147 break, there is a video below:

Win a non-qualifier Snooker season match versus Ronnie O'Sullivan

As the description of the trophy details, you have to beat Ronnie O’Sullivan (current number 1 in the world and cover of the game) in a snooker season that doesn’t involve qualifiers. Usually Ronnie makes it to the final, so provided you keep winning, you will be drawn against him quite quickly towards the start of the season. As previously stated he is the current number 1 in the world and will prove to be a very tough competitor. You may struggle against him if drawn in the first tournament, as you won’t have upgraded your skills to the level you perhaps wish. Here are some general tips in beating him:

  • Play extremely tactical if required. If you aren’t confident in potting a ball, don’t even attempt it. I personally learned the hard way that if you give O’Sullivan a potable opportunity on an object ball, he is unlikely to miss and will proceed in generally making a high clearance. This is especially the case when taking break, or following his break. If you aren’t comfortable in successfully making the commonly found safe break or follow up shot, a very simple way of proceeding is by rolling up to the compact bundle of reds. Simply remove enough power and utilize :triangle: to view if the Cueball is going to gently nudge the red, try and eradicate a majority of the orange line which informs you of the angle at which the object ball will travel, but do not deplete it completely as the Cueball will not make contact at all and a foul will be issued. If this tactic is followed, more often than not Ronnie will play a safety shot that although leaves the white in the baulk area, will provide a loose red appearing which is narrowly potable towards the left hand corner bag of the snooker table. From there you are able to get positioning on the black and then strike into the pack of reds for a further increased break.
  • When attempting a pot, ensure that you have the next ball planned out and that you are aware of where the Cueball is going to land by properly utilizing the spot that appears, which is easily visible by pressing :triangle:. Also, using :r2: improves the vision at which you will view the shot and the accuracy of your potting will amplify massively.
  • Where possible, try to leave the radius in which the Cueball lands as small as possible. This will not only provide excellent positioning play, but you can also rest assure that the Cueball will not be potted, giving a foul in the process. Being able to judge where the white ball will land is also vital when performing safety shots that prevent the opposing player from potting.

Win a non-qualifer Snooker season match versus Steve Davies

See “Rocket Rout” for more details. Playing against Steve Davis in Snooker Season mode is a lot rarer than playing Ronnie O’Sullivan, simply for the fact that he isn’t as skilled a player and is likely to be eliminated from competitions before you are drawn against him. Patience is the virtue here, and as you are required to play through 2 seasons anyway, you’ll likely unlock it.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/893/46.jpgPlant Pot (B)

Successfully pot 1 ball using a plant in a snooker Season match

As detailed in the trophy description, this must be earned in a snooker season match. A plant pot is a shot whereby the Cueball strikes an object ball which then in turn strikes a second object ball and pots it. The easiest way to get this trophy is when there is a red ball placed right over the pocket and another red ball is nearby. Simply aim to hit the red with an angle that will knock the red over the bag into the pocket and the trophy will pop. If you use the aiming aid to work out the angle at which the first red is going to travel, it makes the plant pot a lot easier to perform. It is useful to make use of the extended view, which you will press :r2: to view. If you do not successfully plant the first object ball on to the second, remember you can make use of the replay/rewind feature (press :select: to navigate here) and take the shot again.

Achieve rank 1 in the World Rankings

To reach the rank of number 1 in the world rankings, you need to move your way up the leaderboard by winning competitions. Also, please note that you only unlock these 4 rank based trophies at the end of each season, so don’t worry if you reach a ranking that should unlock a trophy while half way through the season, as it will simply unlock after the season has finished. You will be required to play through two season modes to reach the rank of number 1 (see below for the exception), as you are likely to only achieve a position of around 7th or 8th after the first season (providing that every single match has been won). There is a small likelihood that you will be required to play three seasons to rank at number 1 in the rankings, which is ultimately affected by Ronnie O'Sullivan's performance throughout the career. Even if you were to win every frame of every match, winning every tournament as a result, this is still possible. As Ronnie O'Sullivan is ranked 1st to begin with, and you have to overtake him throughout the course of your career, he could remain at the top spot after the second season should he pick up enough ranking points to make it mathematically impossible for you to overtake. You may only miss out by a few hundred/thousand points, but unfortunately you will be required to complete another season to earn the trophy.

To view your position in the world rankings from the main menu, simply follow the “Profile” directory and under the list of options click on “Career”. Once you have done so, you will notice that “World Rankings” is the very first choice for selection.

Nice job :p

Just to inform you.

My experience is that there are two glitched trophies:

  • Snappy Dresser
    Cue King

Both of these did not unlock for me immediately, I played the Shanghai Masters and it unlocked after replaying that tournament.

Also

Simulation Stimulation can be unlocked by just changing it at your last shot or when the frame is impossible to win for the opponent, you don't need to do it after every shot :p

Finally, Break Ace...

EDIT: There I did this about 8 times without fail.

Have no idea how to post videos on here so.. yeah.

For your first guide Fletchar, this looks really good! :applause:

One of the best first guides I've seen.

Thanks again mate, I appreciate it. I don't think I'll quite ever reach your amount of guides but this is a start :p

The Stimulation Simulation trophy does indeed allow you to not turn it on/off before each shot and in actual reality before the end of the match, so I have updated that.

I have also changed the 147! trophy, as despite what the trophy description says, you actually can make use of the replay/rewind feature. That's the first time I've ever seen a trophy description to be wrong.

That was merely my opinion, I know many people do it differently, though I wasn't aware there was a 'right' way.

There wasn't a right way to do it until recently. The FAQ was updated recently which explains why. Anyways, nice guide, especially since it's your first one.

Nice guide. But I've just finished my 2nd season and I'm #2 in the rankings (only 2043 points behind ronnie). Finishing 2 seasons without losing a single match doesn't seem to be enough every time, all depends on where ronnie finishes in each tournament. May want to include that 2 seasons doesn't make it a certainty.

I'm very disappointed, I really can't be bothered to do another full season...

Thanks for bringing this possibility to my attention. I'm going to research it and test it out over the next week or so and I'll see what I can sort out in regards to it as soon as possible. I've got a backup season mode in which Ronnie has got to the final in every tournament so far, so that profile should provide answers as to whether it is the case or whether you have just been extremely unlucky. Stick at it though mate :)

Fletchar, you are a God! You actually got the Plat for this too :)

Is it a decent game by its own merit? I love playing snooker in real life and have been looking for a decent game for a while.

I wouldn't say it's great, but it isn't terrible either. It's the type of game you'd play during a gaming drought if it's going cheap enough. There isn't anything particularly difficult about the game, it's just a long grind. That being for both the single player and the online (which is dead these days, so it would be virtually impossible without boosting).
