Mimming
After finally getting this on PS3, I have updated a few of the trophies that needed to be updated. Bolded parts have been updated. This game is one of my absolute favourite games of all time, and i would definately recommend you buy it. The gameplay is awesome, the boss battles are awesome, the soundtrack is one of the best i've heard, even the story is pretty good for what the game is. This is one of the few games that I know like the back of my hand, so i'm gonna give you guys a general rundown of what to expect. ~~ The best way I can describe this game to you is, its basically a 2D sidescrolling legend of zelda. You kill monsters/get gold and advance through areas/bosses to the next part of the story, and upgrade your weapons and armor etc Also pretty good graphics for what it is. It really is an awesome game. Anyway, a what-to-do for the trophies for you people who have the game now and are wondering: (All in game images were taken by me for the purpose of this thread) http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1546/857.jpgThe Great Blue Awaits http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.pngDo not skip the SEGA logo sequence. - As it says, don't skip the opening sequence when you start the game. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1546/8F4.jpgWelcome to Monster World! http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.pngFind the "Welcome to Monster World" sign. - This sign is located on the 2nd screen immediately after starting the game. Just walk in front of the sign and press to 'read' it. http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/3862/wonboy1.png http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1546/EC9.jpgHave Mercy! http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.pngTry staying at an inn without enough gold. - Inns are where you save your game and regain full magic/hearts. This Inn costs 10 gold to stay at, so you need to have less than 10 gold to get this trophy. (or less than 50 gold if you do this at the last Inn of the game. The prices are different for each Inn.) Best done in the first town called Alsedo as you'll easily spend almost all of your gold there buying the first items. Just go into the Inn after you've bought some things and try to stay the night. Alternatively, just keep spending your gold staying at the Inn until you run out and then try to stay one more time. http://img808.imageshack.us/img808/5056/wonboy2.png http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1546/50C.jpgRenowned Spearman http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.pngGuard against 10 attacks by spinning a spear-type weapon. - Very easily done during the game. You can buy the first spear in the first town Alsedo. To use a spear weapon as a 'shield' simply hold the button while attacking, and Shion(you) will spin his spear in a circle. This trophy only unlocks by blocking actual 'attacks' from monsters, such as projectile attacks or sword attacks. Simply standing spinning a spear weapon while a monster walks into you does not count. The earliest you can get this trophy is during the "Knight" miniboss battle at the end of the long corridor with bats and red ball monsters after you leave the first village. But it is not recommended to try, as risk of dying at this point is high, and you are more than likely going to kill the knight before you get your 10 blocked sword attacks in. - The easiest earliest way to get this trophy is in the dwarf village of lilypad. When you go left of the village, there are 'monkey' monsters that throw hammers at you. Simply fight them for a couple of minutes to learn their throwing patterns and then stand a bit away from them and spin the spear when they throw a hammer at you. - Otherwise, this is an easy trophy to just do during the game without really thinking about it. The scorpions in the desert for example, are a very simple way to get this trophy. http://img857.imageshack.us/img857/46/wonboy3.png http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/3044/wonboy4.png http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1546/772.jpgHello Poseidon! http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.pngMeet Poseidon. - Story related, cannot be missed. You'll find Poseidon at the end of the underwater labyrinth. He gives you the means to travel to see the Sphinx. To swim underwater you must find the Trident (spear weapon). It's located in the town Lilypad. (Wont spoil more) http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1546/740.jpgHello Sphinx! http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.pngMeet the Sphinx. - Story related, cannot be missed. You'll find the Sphinx at the end of the desert section. He gives you the means to travel to see the Elder Dragon. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1546/AF6.jpgHello Dragon! http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.pngMeet the Elder Dragon. - Story related, cannot be missed. You'll find the Elder Dragon through the bottom right door in the dragon village. He (eventually) gives you the means to travel further in the game. (Tells you how to get the Legend Sword.) http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1546/0E1.jpgA Rare Find http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.pngFind the precious Charm Stone. - The charmstone costs 500,000 gold in a store. You can get this trophy buy buying it at this store: However there is a much earlier way to get it. (See after the next screenshot) http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/7535/wonboy6.png - There is one Charmstone found in a secret chest in the Pyramid. You cannot access the area until you get all of the pygmy equipment and transform into a smaller version of yourself. You cant become a pygmy until after you've passed through the pyramid, so you cannot get this chest during your initial visit there. When you go through the pyramid section initially, you'll come across a walkway half your size to the left of a switch you have to press. When you can become a pygmy later on, you can fit through this walkway to find a secret chest containing the Charmstone. Become a pygmy (You'll find out how during the game) and go back to this place: http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/7274/wonboy12.png http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/7804/wonboy13.png Just keep going down to the bottom until you get to this part (It's the only way to go.), then go under the walkway: http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/8628/wonboy14.png Jump on the switch to make the floor fall down, then jump down there yourself: http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/725/wonboy15.png You will be here. Go under the walkway to the left: (Also, the chest you see in this screen contains one of every magic. Refer to the "Wizard" trophy to see how to get there.) http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/1575/wonboy16.png At the bottom there will be 4 doors. They go to a bunch of treasure chests in a large room. One of them gives you the charmstone. Go through the 1st door (the very left door, pictured), Also while you are here, walk through the left wall beside this door, and there is a secret heart chest. http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/5429/wonboy20.png Jump across the first gap to where I am in the picture: http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/6199/wonboy21.png Fall down the first gap to here, then go left down. http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/9009/wonboy22.png Go left a little more and you're at the charmstone chest: http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/5169/wonboy23.png Edited May 26, 2012 by Mimming
Mimming
http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1546/AA7.jpgWizard http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.pngUse all types of magic. - Easy to do, you dont really have to go out of your way to find each type of magic. Magics can be bought from a store, traded for a charmstone (not necessary, just for end game perfectionists) or mainly found in chests throughout the game. There are 6 types of magic: http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/607/wonboy5.png - To make it alot easier for you, there is a hidden door to a secret chest in the pyramid which contains one of every type of magic except 'Return'. (Fire, Thunder, Quake, Power, Shield) Stand exactly where I am in the next screenshot and press . There is a secret door that takes you up to the chest: http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/1558/wonboy19.png You can only get 1 'Return' magic, and it's located in the underwater labyrinth in a chest. - screenshots to come - http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1546/BE2.jpgWith All One's Heart http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.pngCollect all the heart containers. - Easily the hardest trophy. Can be a little time consuming to get all the secret ones/ones you've missed. You find extra heart containers in chests throughout the game. Some are in plain sight, some are hidden away and some cant be accessed without proper equipment later on in the game. I will eventually post a screenshot of every chest with a heart container, in the order you can find them, here: http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1546/912.jpgThe Legendary Wonder Boy http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.pngCollect all legendary equipment. - The Legend equipment is the best gear you can get in the game. It consists of: Legend Sword, Legend Shield, Legend Armor and Legend Boots. The Legend Sword is story related and cannot be missed. It's given to you by the blacksmith in the dragon village by giving him 2 items to forge the sword with, which also cannot be missed. The other 3 legend items are found in the last major area before the final boss, the "Nightmare Castle". They are in chests that are hidden away, but easily found if you know where to go. They are not in plain sight on the linear game path, so you can miss these. - The Legend Boots are located in a section with a fast moving cart/platform that you stand on. When you take the cart down a level/step, at the far right the cart(you) will be bounced up onto a platform before hitting the wall and going back the opposite direction. You need to get off the cart at this moment where the spring thingy is. The Legend Boots are located on the same level as the hidden spring, just jump over the spring and keep walking right to the chest. http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/3860/wonboy7.png - The Legend Armor is located in a section where you take a rope lift thing across a large gap to get further. You wont die if you fall down this gap, you'll land in a different screen that has the chest with the Legend Armor. http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/1984/wonboy8.png http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/1039/wonboy9.png - The Legend Shield is located in a room/screen you come to with a lot of the pink sea creatures all along the floor in front of you (They dont move). The room has 2 rope lift things. The first rope takes you up to the chest with the Legend Shield, the second rope is the room's exit. It will probably take a few tries to get to the chest as there is creatures on the little ledge you have to land on from the rope, and if you fall into the creature you'll get hit and fall back down to the bottom. To make things a little harder, the creatures also shoot projectile attacks at you, so you could be knocked off the rope as soon as it gets up near the chest. http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/5439/wonboy10.png http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/9377/wonboy11.png - A very simple way to do this is to use lightning magic. I use it once on the ground floor to kill the 3 monsters, and then when you take the rope up to the chest, when you have the 2 monsters in your screen, just use the lightning magic again while on the rope. Both will be dead immediately and you will have easy access to the legend shield chest. Also - If you fall off and cant get back up to the chest because the rope is still up there, just walk left off the screen and walk right back, it resets the room. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1546/506.jpgCongratulations! http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_gold.pngFinish the game. Story related, cannot be missed. Simply defeat the final boss. I wont spoil who/what it is. But I will say it will probably be a decently tough fight if this is your first time playing this game. You really have to have good reflexes and know how to utilize your magic. It's actually a pretty entertaining fight. So there you go. A cheap entertaining game with a great soundtrack that can stand up against the soundtracks of the old sonic and pokemon games. I really do recommend it to you. superpj
I used this video walkthrough to get all the heart upgrades and legendary equipment : (ignore parts 27 to 42, it's just money grinding to max out magic but you don't need it to beat the final boss since you can save anytime anywhere).
