50 S-Ranks Solo

Recommended Posts

There is an offline roadmap thread already, but I think this trophy deserves a thread of his own, because it is far more difficult and tricky to achieve solo than the rest of the trophies, which I got in 560 hours without ever playing with other people, so anyone can achieve them solo, but this beast can prevent me, or most people, from getting the plat (edit. No, in the end it didn't prevent me from getting it :D ).

List of the 50 quests I've S ranked:

This is a list of the quests I managed to S rank, they are listed as "Name of the quest (GR at which the quest unlocks - points that granted me an S)". I go by memory so a few may be off.

This group of quests can be S ranked with just story equipment, provided one applies the right elemental attributes. For some GR6 ones it might be better to wait till you have (and can equip) GR7-8 equipment obtainable from chests in NG+:

Boot Camp (GR1 - 1425p)

Brave Litton's Plight I (GR1 - 3000p)

Memorial Servant I (GR1 - 3026p)

The Lost Children I (GR2 - 4115p)

A Grave Matter I (GR2 - 4470p)

Best Served Cold I (GR3 - 5600p)

Monumental Treasure I (GR3 - 5630p)

The Exterminator I (GR4 - 6598pts)

Only Game In Town I (GR4 - 6969p)

Ring Leader I (GR5 - 8300p)

Take Your Lumps I (GR5 - 8234p)

Caravan Escort I (GR5 - 8339p)

Dragon’s Heat I (GR6 - 11712p)

The Azure Dragon I (GR6 - 12071p)

Research Assistant I (GR6 - 12989p)

Home Of The Knave I (GR6 - 12436p)

These quests should be manageable with mixed GR9-10 equipment without too much of a hassle and after doing the 4 rebirths (for BSC it's necessary to use the safer "bow method"):

Strike Like The Wind I (GR6 - 11200p)

King Of Dragons I (GR6 - 11255p)

All In The Cards I (GR7 - 16185p)

Brave Litton's Plight II (GR7 - 16000p)

Memorial Servant II (GR7 - 16468p)

The Lost Children II (GR7 - 16012p)

A Grave Matter II (GR7 - 16038p)

The Exterminator II (GR7 - 16181p)

Best Served Cold II (GR8 - 24000p)

Monumental Treasure II (GR8 - 24017p)

Only Game In Town II (GR8 - 25762p)

I didn't try S ranking the following quests until I obtained GR13 georama armors and GR11 Flame Spears/Ox Tongues, cause several GR11 and almost all the GR12 pieces of equipment are borderline impossible to obtain solo:

Caravan Escort II (GR8 - 24290p)

Strike Like The Wind II (GR8 - 24000p)

Ring Leader II (GR9 - 32500)

Dragon’s Heat II (GR9 - 34738p)

Research Assistant II (GR9 - 32609p)

The Azure Dragon II (GR9 - 32072p)

Brave Litton's Plight III (GR10 - 40000p)

Memorial Servant III (GR10 - 40466p)

The Lost Children III (GR10 - 40820p)

Best Served Cold III (GR11 - 48000p)

The Exterminator III (GR10 - 40288p)

All In The Cards II (GR10 - 40165p)

Belly Of The Beasts I (GR7 - 8000p)

Lumber Support I (GR7 - 8017p)

Material Advisor I (GR7 - 11000p)

Jackals And Hides I (GR7 - 8000p)

I managed to S rank this final batch of quests only after binding some GR14 georama equipment:

Tomb Raiders I (GR7 - 8000p)

Giant Headache I (GR8 - 12670p)

A Grave Matter III (GR10 - 45000p)

Home Of The Knave II (GR9 - 32692p)

King Of Dragons II (GR9 - 32540p)

The Arena I (GR8 - 15000p)

Station Attendant I (GR9 - 32000p)

Some quests can be attemped with weaker equipment than the one I specified, but I did see no point in wasting too much time trying quests when I didn't feel I had the absolutely proper equipment, except when I needed some mats that didn't require an S as a score. In general, "blue" quests are harder than "regular" quests from the same GR.

Equipment for BSC3 grind:

Pre GR13:

Greedesteel Bow+4 with water element, Artisan's Earrings, Miracle Ring

(4 rebirths are probably a necessity as I went into battle naked cause it was enough, use some light DEX boosting equipment if you can afford it)

Post GR13 (sub 7 min and S rank):

Greedesteel Bow+4 with water element, full Quester's II +80 DEX set from GR13 Georama, Artisan's Earrings, Miracle Ring

Commands for BSC3 grind/S-Rank:

Sting - Bullseye+Sting Combo - Heal - Heal II - Heal III - Inspire - Fate's Favor

Equipment for other quests:

4 x elemental Flame Spears+10 (the absolutely easiest GR11 spear I could bind and +10)

1 x raw Ox Tongue+7 (was aiming for +10 but f'ing Earth Dragon Horns+ were too elusive)

For more speedy/DPS quests:

Quester's Coat II, Dragonscale Fists+5, Quester's Pants II, Dominion Boots+5, Artisan's Earrings, Miracle Ring

For tanking heavy hitting bosses (like TIER 2 Ancient Dragon, Pyredaemos and Pyredaemos Rex etc.):

Wyvern Plate+5, Dragonscale Fists+5, General's Pants+10, Dominion Boots+5, Purple Cloak, Miracle Ring and only for the worst moments Royal Aegis+5

(I was aiming for GR15 Kaiser's Guards and Oberon's Slops for a better and faster spear setup, but at GR14 I took a break and binded the above equipment on a spare save and it has proven to be enough to score the last few S Ranks)

Commands for other quests:

Chop - Paralyse Thrust - Dark Thrust - 1AC Combo - 3AC Combo - 5AC Combo - Sonic Javelin (for attacking)

Heal - Heal II - Heal III - Inspire - Fortify - Haste (for healing and buffing)

Angel's Favor - Fate's Favor - Threaten - +Fortify (for protecting self and NPCs)

Anima (to fill AC bar)

Items used:

Elixirs and Chargedrinks (I, II and III) are a necessity in some quests, use them at savepoints directly from item storage in quests like Station Attendant or The Arena and always keep a full stock with you.

Final notes on S ranking:

Some quests will require you to be lightning fast (ie. Sub 7 minutes BSC, sub 15 minutes Caravan Escort, Lost Children etc, deathport is a must), some quests will require you to complete the subquest (Dragon's Heat, Ring Leader etc.), some will require you to be fast, complete all or part of the subquest and moreover kill a good number of mobs (Azure Dragon II, Home Of The Knave II and some other) and some don't have a time bonus and in order to S rank them you need to complete all the boss fights or kill all the monsters (Belly Of The Beasts and Jackals and Hydes come to mind).

Learn to time your attacks so that bosses don't cause you to fall, wasting a lot of seconds when that happens.

Even if I kept buffing spells at hand, to heal/buff more quickly it is better to get out of batte and use spells from main menu (always keep yourself fortified, hasted and inspired) as they take less time to cast this way compared to when you are in battle.

Of course everything in this guide could be improved by smarter players, but for me it has been enough to score the 50 S ranks entirely solo.

I've S rank about 63 quests, i can give time and score for them. But the thing is that i've done then with people, so it would only serve as an aproximation to know the required points needed to S rank.

Edit: Ring leader II is easy. Just start the quest(dont wait to talk to the first guy), grab both crystals, talk to the guy with the house, kill 10 basilisks, talk again, suicide, and then talk to the guy at the start twice. Kill Cerberus, S rank!!

Edit: I didn't try to solo RA2 as im not a tank, but maybe its doable, you only have to kill 2 pygmys and i think you have to do sub-quest and kill poison greaver. The only tricky thing would be to not let NPC die. You can also try MS3, but dont know if you have to kill the wind dragon or not to S rank. Exterminator 3 is also doable, you only need to kill 1 spider. Material advisor is doable, the thing is i dont know how many bosses you have to defeat.

You can try Lumber Support, where you have to kill Treants, but 1 at the time (with some annoying vespids)

Yeah, in RLII I got very close to the points required without even doing the subquest, but I spent too much time killing mobs, same thing in Lumber Support, I can finish the quest (Vespids mainly slow me down, as they do a measily 1dmg wearing a GR10 maxed set) but took me too long. It's always a matter of balancing between time/mobs/subquest if available and deathport is a must in some quests to shorten the running around.

I can solo most of the quests up to GR9 low GR10, but right now I'm working on the best GR11 equipment I can afford (Wyvern Plate/Ox Tongues as specified in the other thread) in order to improve scores, before proceeding, meanwhile I'm taking a look at videos of people S rankin some quests solo.

I bumped into this video, it's not an S rank but didn't know bow class was so badass, I think lots of AGI is involved in this performance against Tier 3 Black Knave:

By GR15 gear do you refer to this sets of equipment?

Georama Armor Tier 4 - White Knight Chronicles - Wiki on Neoseeker

Because going all the way to GR15 would probably require me another 80-100 hours of Big Red grind (not something I'd want to do anytime soon...) mixed with quests I'll try to S rank on the way, and I can see that several of this pieces of equip could be binded thanks to georama mats, but upgrading them to gain bonuses could prove a whole different matter, so I'd go that route only if it proves to be the only option in getting the solo plat.

I decided to give a spin to a couple quests while farming mats, I have a huge backlog but it seems I can't put this game down now lol

I've S ranked Ring Leader II, but in order to do it I had to complete the subquest and finish just a little above 20 mins. Doing the subquest puts you against a Megalotigris and a Cerberus together. Total points 32500.

Weird, why is that? I could solo the cerberus without killing any mobs and S rank it. But congrats though. 1 less quest to plat :). Im sitting at 380 binds atm. I think can bind like 50 more items without the need to farm. Will keep you updated

Don't know, maybe there are slight differences in the european edition of the game, just killing the Cerberus and Basilisks net me 30500pts even finishing below 15 minutes. At least when I didn't S rank it, I got 7 Fire Beast Fangs from drop and loot, enough to bind my first Ox Tongue :D

Update: 5 new S-Ranks, Brave Litton III, Memorial Servant III, Research Assistant II, All In The Cards II and Lumber Support. 15 to go.

I tried Exterminator III and reached the boss in 8-9 minutes, but surprisingly (don't know if because he boosted himself) he hit me extremely hard, like 100-150dmg per hit, even with Fortify applied, and demolished me  I'll try again after maxing a couple other pieces of equip, but first I'll tackle every GR7-8 remaining quest methodically. Some I know are impossible, but some should be entirely doable with some practice. I think I'll have to find a way to farm charge drinks and elixirs, if possible, for multiple boss battles.

S ranked Material Advisor, but then failed to S rank Troll Treasure and wasn't even able to finish Desperate Defense and Giant Headache. Honestly I'm beginning to see the end of my journey, as there is no way to possibly S rank 14 more quests among the GR8 and 9 ones left. Don't think I'll even bother with the sequel at this point.

Update: Another S rank from Jackals and Hides. I think I'll aim for 40 S ranks and then put the game for a while into hiatus, as I can't see a way to score 50 S with the current equipment.

Update: With extreme luck I've solo S ranked Strike Like the Wind I, but failed miserabily at Tomb Raiders (NPC dies quickly in boss battle) and Sprog Cleaning (can't do better than a little below 20 mins).

No, honestly never used threaten... I'll give it a try if it could prove useful in those quests thanks.

Right now my equipment consists of two Ox Tongues slightly upgraded (still waiting to be able to consistently farm GR10 pearls to possibly max them), a Flame Spear +6, an Emerald Spear +10 and as armor parts a Wyvern Plate +5 and General Pants +10 mixed with Questers Gloves II and Questers Boots II for +40 DEX. If I'll be able to consistently farm LV 10 pearls I'll try and switch some of them for better equipment, still judging what I could bind.

Threaten will make the enemy come after you & take the heat of the npc but be aware that npc's like to follow you so it's best to keep on the move and circle the enemy. I have a certain way i solo desperate defence & tomb raiders which i'll try with lower geart to see if it's possible.

VIT is more important for spear then DEX. Have you tried switching the questers equipment for miners for an extra 40VIT?

I was under the impression that VIT and DEX were almost equally important for spear, I'll see what a more VIT oriented build can do then.

What's important now is that I've been able to S rank BSC3 finally, one S rank more, and a bunch of sweet lv 10 pearls that will open a new scenario and help in maxing Ox Tongues, Flame Spear and Wyvern Plate. Moreover, with such a low completion time for BSC3, I might as well dare to reach GR14 for better armor parts from Georama.

edit. Been trying to farm Earth-Dragon Horns+ for 45min but got several scales, tails, wings, even 2 skulls+ but no horns. Seems the game knows what you need and erase it on purpose.

New S ranks of the day, Monumental Treasure II and Strike Like The Wind II, another extremely lucky run in the latter on my second try. 9 S ranks left before the plat, but it's becoming really hard to go beyond an A, can't get an S in Caravan Escort II and Home Of The Knave II just for a few hundred points, can't balance between the killings and the completion time.

PS. S ranked Caravan Escort II, finished in 14:50. 8 to go!

PPS. I think I'll work my way towards GR14 (and then maybe even 15) in the coming days, as there's no way to score 50 S ranks solo with GR10-11 equipment. Better not waste more time failing at quests and use it in a more productive way. I've made this far, no way I stop at 8 quests from the platinum.

  • 2 weeks later...

Small update, while grinding my way to GR14 I spent some time forging a couple other Flame Spears (which is the easiest GR11 spear I can afford and +10 it), now I have 3 Flame Spears +10 and one is imbued with wind element, thanks to this one I've been able to S rank Exterminator III in a couple tries, so 7 S ranks to the platinum.

Other quests that probably could be soloed right now are Troll Treasure, Take Your Lumps II and Home Of The Knave II, but those are proving quite tricky and I prefer spend time working toward the highest GR and best possible equipment, and work on them later.

Well I truly hope I'll make it, considering the unbelievable amount of time spent (far beyond anything else I've played before), but it might take a while. In a few days I should reach GR14, and with a couple pieces of equipment I'll be able to bind at that point I'll try S ranking another 2/3 quests, but then, going to GR15 will take another few weeks, and that will be the end of the road, so either I'll succeed or there will be no other options left, so all in all following my trail leads to an insane 650-700 hours of play, but this involves going all the way to GR15, so I don't know how it compares to people who got that far playing online.

BTW, looking for other people who attemped this, I found a video of this guy (I reached this through a post from a few years ago on Gamefaqs) who claims to have platinumed this solo at GR13

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYCpiO_eeno]white knight chronicles platinum solo - YouTube[/ame]

but how he managed to S rank some Tier 3 or DLC quests showed in this video, having stats not much different from mine, is beyond me, only AGI is much higher than mine, thanks to Noble's equipment.

After reaching GR14 I've binded and +5d Dominion Boots, Dragonscale Fists (even though they aren't the best possible gauntlets for spear) and Royal Aegis, and mixing some of these with Questers II equips and Wyvern Plate I've S ranked Giant Headache and King Of Dragons II. 5 S ranks remaining, but I'm still unsure if this equipment is suitable, cause when fully equipped I'm slow as sh*t, thus wasting too much precious time during battles.

PS. I've tried also The Arena and reached the final battle relatively quickly, but the Primeval Guardians demolished me with magic, maybe I'll try after binding Demon Robe, it shouldn't be too difficult to S rank it.

Of course I'll try also WKC2 :D

I already got two thirds of the trophies playing just a hundred hours of it last summer, I'll get back to it after platting WKC1 (as now I'm beginning to feel pretty confident I'll succeed). Some say that WKC2 solo plat should be easier than WKC1, except one particular trophy, as you can bring NPC in quests and buy really strong equipment with points gained when grinding quests, but as of now I never heard of anybody getting that plat solo.

Update: Today I've S ranked Home Of The Knave II, A Grave Matter III, Station Attendant I (in the final part I had to bring out Royal Aegis shield, which slowed me down to a crawl but helped in sustaining the last hits from Pyredaemos Rex and sending him to hell) and Tomb Raiders I (a close call in this one due to babysitting that retarded npc)... -1 to the plat!
