100 Solo S-Ranks

Recommended Posts

Similarly to the thread I created in WKC1 section, I open this one to update every now and then on my progress with the S ranks in WKC2, even though probably I'll be the only one on the planet attempting this ridiculous task lol

Right now I'm at GR16, working my way to GR17 thanks to OGIT2 and alternating that to other quests to farm mats and try to score some S along the road. My avatar is axe/elemental magic lv.63, supported by lv.55-60 Yulie (bow/divine magic) and Eldore (staff/elemental and some divine spells), using just lv.50+ equips bought from shops or obtained from bounty hunts.

Here's a list of the S ranks I've got so far (50):

Boot Camp I (200p)

Brave Litton's Plight I (828p) II (13950)

Memorial Servant I (1730p) II (16010p) III 23450p)

The Lost Children I (2080p) II (15080p) III (22080p)

A Grave Matter I (2810p) II (16540p) III (23000p)

Best Served Cold I (7025p) II (28670p)

Monumental Treasure I (4015p) II (13580p)

The Exterminator I (4700p) II (11285p) III (22425p)

Only Game In Town I (10625p) II (26770p)

Ring Leader I (11190p) II (25400p)

Caravan Escort I (6750p) II (12500p)

Dragon's Heat I (15175p) II (30650p)

Research Assistant I (18720p) II (48985p)

Strike Like The Wind I (15120p) II (25045p)

The Azure Dragon I (22745p) II (34175p)

Home Of The Knave I (13000p) II (20000p)

Draco Regalis I (13200p) II (20450p)

All In The Cards I (11200p) II (16200p)

Lumber Support I (7700p)

Material Advisor I (22500p)

Belly Of The Beasts I (22500p)

Jackals And Hides I (19710p)

Station Attendant I (15000p)

The Arena I (13000p)

Desperate Defence I (12500p)

Giant Headache I (12660p)

The Trials I (16500p)

Ruin Return I (15000p)

King Of The Polkans I (12000p)

The points awarded for most quests seem completely different from the ones in WKC1. These scores do not take into account the 1.8x bonus granted while being online.

BSC takes ages in WKC2, took me around 50mins, I managed to get S completing all three optional tasks.

Station Attendant was one of the last and most difficult quests I managed to solo S rank in WKC1, I wanted to try it so soon and test myself, I succeeded on first try almost no sweat, Eldore with Eclipse Gate literally destroyed everything up till now.

Some quests are proving way more tricky than they were in WKC1, Take Your Lumps is non more S-rankable by defeating the Stone Guardian and killing 30-40 mobs, I suspect I'll have to try and obtain the Primeval Guardian as a boss, although managing that alone could be almost impossible.

Update: Unlocked the 50 S trophy, piece of cake compared to WKC1, I've yet to pass the 50 hours mark, but the difficult task begins now.

So, after unlocking the 50 S trophy, a new chapter opens up, meaning that the hard work begins now.

At GR17, with lv. 60-65 chars and lv. 50-55 equipment, I'm not strong enough to grind Arena II efficiently, when I succeed it takes me 6-7 minutes, but it's not even guaranteed I survive till the end, so, given that, is still more efficient to farm OGIT II, which grants me 17500pts in less than 3 minutes.

I've found this useful guide about how to setup avatar and story NPCs in order to grind Arena II solo in less than 2 minutes:

NPCs Guide for Dummies 101 - White Knight Chronicles Wiki - Neoseeker

So my roadmap now consists of reaching GR19 (thanks to OGIT2 for grinding, while doing other quest for farming mats), and try to level up to lv.70 in the meantime. At that point I'll be able to bind and upgrade a few lv.70 Staves Of Ra, farming Hexwood Planks from harvest point in Ring Leader III and Metal Panels+ from TIER 3 Black Knaves in Redhorn Island. That, coupled with +80 INT TIER 2 georama armors, should grant me enough power to grind Arena II and cut down almost by half the time required to reach GR24/26 (compared to OGIT II), which is the goal I aim to reach before working on rebirths and continuing with S ranking quests.

EDIT. Thanks to the lv.10 Georama I imported from WKC1 and to an NPC errand quest, which grants an Earthstone, I should be able to obtain the lv.70 equipments I specified above as soon as reaching GR18.

Something you'd need to consider over the long term is your knight. I've played with people who have soloed some Vell maps and the knight is usually the thing that gets them through. It's going to be a lot tougher to solo those (they're usually 3 boss enemy fights) without some of the exclusive healing items you get from guilds, and not to mention you can't max your knight anymore due to lvl 8/9 gems being unavailable, so you'd need to come up with a way to get knight artifacts, possibly even resort to getting one of the DLC knights.

Thanks for the suggestion. Up till now I haven't researched too much into upgrading the knight, as I mostly breezed through the first 50 quests (more or less the same I S ranked in WKC1 a few weeks ago) with a party of 3. Based on how easily I managed to S rank them with just lv.50-55 armors and weapons, I think that, once I'll have much more powerful equipment, I'll manage to S rank another 20-25 quests (let's say the remaining TIER 3 quest versions of the same ones I've already S ranked), but for the last 20-25, not mentioning Vellgander, probably I'll have to resort to the knight and get the most out of it.

PS. At this point I'm more concerned by the 50 rare pieces of equipment trophy than S ranking 100 quests. For the latter I can limit myself to the 100 "easier" quests, but for the former I'll have to farm some crazy drops from top tier enemies/quests, excluding maybe 20/25 rare pieces I'll be able to buy with the amount of Dahlia points I'll have amassed once I hit GR30.

Rare items aren't as bad as you might think. Most of the ingredients for the tears (World Tree Branch, etc) can be farmed using your Georama or from certain quests, not to mention there are a lot of set items that need blues in GR26 quests which don't need the tears. Each quest with a blue item usually has 5-6 pieces tied to it, so it's just a matter of finding those GR26s you can clear (and blues can drop even with a B rank) and stockpiling those.

Getting enough Dahlia to buy one of every GR26 item from the store is gonna take a loooonnngg time, probably will take well past GR30 to accomplish, so you'd need to find alternatives. There are well over 100 GR26 items, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Good to know that mats required for binding GR26 equipment are not as terrible to obtain as I thought.

Concerning Dahlia equipment (I plan to use some pieces to try and S rank more quests as soon as I'll reach GR26) in my case the amount of points required to reach GR30 is even more insane, as the european version requires around 40 millions points more than US version of the game (thank you Level 5). So in the end I'll have close to 100 millions points, which equals 100k Dahlia. That should allow me to buy between 20 and 25 pieces of GR26 Dahlia equipment.

Luckily I didn't have to farm the ridiculous 1 or <1% drops in WKC1, I managed to cover the last 90 or so bindings, and also the equipment that helped in getting 50 S ranks, thanks to georama and the 10 millions. It's still a long way till I get to the point of collecting rare quipments, I've slowed down a bit in WKC2 cause I've resumed Star Ocean, but I'm still going on. I'm 1 million points far from GR18, then I'll try and get the avatar and two NPCs to level 70, in order to grind more quickly in Arena II.

It's much easier to farm rare drops in WKC2 because most can just be broken giving you twice as many chances for most boss type monsters and sometimes 3-4 chances. There are also a few instances where you can reset them after breaking something and try again in 5 minutes.

As for harvesting items, there are usually a few quest where a harvest spot is right next to the starting point and you can go to then quit the quest and try again.

Yes I've seen in the wiki that they have increased the number of bosses having part that can be broken and also the increased drop percentages from breaks.

Meanwhile yesterday I've leveled the avatar and two mage characters to lv 70, took just a few hours doing Quibbles I, now I just need to obtain proper lv 70 equipment (probably tier2 +80 int georama sets) and then I should be able to grind more quickly and work my way to GR26. I don't plan to try and S rank more quests until I can at least equip GR26 Dahlia equipment, I can already buy 3 pieces of that, by the time I hit GR26 I should have enough Dahlia to buy 3 sets I think.

New save Georama is not too good in WKC2. You can't get high tier farming mats anymore without 60 stats, which are obtainnable only with statues, which were online-only items. But it can help with 800 binds trophies because you can buy rare low tier mats like Levinstones, it also has some georama-exclusive gear to bind.

I have EU version platinum, it's my another save for JP version which has separate trophy list. Currently I'm GR27, did 800 binds and 20 rare-items, it's not too hard with FMQ. Need a few full rounds of every FMQ to gather mats for 40 rare items, GR30 trophy is just a matter of time.

Benefits of JP version:

5x GR points for S ranks, leveling is very fast.

All quests up to GR50, continuation of main story, new location, max level is 90.

Much more quests to choose from, extra recipes and better gear.

You can get lv.7 gems as early as GR20 from Avatar quests, GR26 weapons at GR22 (Cat Power 2 weapons upgraded with lv.7 gems).

You can get lv.8 gems in GR26+ quest rewards, and mobs drop them at GR37+; you can't upgrade anything past +15 in EU/US version anymore without these gems.

What really concerns me is Madoras fight. This is the hardest trophy and I want to seriously buff my team before even trying it.

Yes I was aware of most of the limitations tied with the EU version after server closure (except the fact that max stats in georama are now capped at 50, which I just discovered), but I can't read japanese, so...:p For now the imported georama helped me in getting tier 2 +80 int armors as soon as I've hit lv 70, allowing me to grind Arena II very quickly, I just turned GR21 around the 100 hours mark. Right now I prefer to go straight to GR26 (at this rate it should take another 50 hours of grindly boredom, wisely spread among other games) and then the real questing will open up, but not before equipping my party with GR26 Dahlia equipment, which will serve the purpose of making the questing for materials easier, both for the 800 bindings and, hopefully, creating even more powerful equipment, to tackle the remaining quests, not mentioning Vellgander. Looking forward to it but still a long way to go, though.

I'm almost ready to get back at S ranking quests, just need a few million gr points to go from GR25 to 26 and then, after buying three GR26 Dahlia sets, I'll be ready. Don't know if those sets will suffice to nail the remaining 50 S I have yet to score, at least I hope they will be enough for most of them, or anyway, allow me to farm materials to get even better equipment (or Vellgander equipment).

So, I've finally equipped my main party with these GR26 Dahlia sets:

Avatar:

-Dark Warrior Full Set

Yulie:

-Glittering Bow

-Dvergar Set (minus boots, I need a few more k Dahlia points)

Eldore:

-Glittering Wand

-Demon King Full Set

And +STR/DEX/INT accessories depending on the character's class.

This equipment, still with base stats and no elemental attributes, heped me S-ranking no sweat the following quests:

51) Brave Litton's Plight III (24960p)

52) Monumental Treasure III (21780p)

Done! Truly a piece of cake compared to the 50S WKC1 trophy, that one required me to grind and upgrade like no tomorrow till the last of the 640 or so hours, this one came with non upgraded GR26 Dahlia equipment and a couple rebirths after just 230 hours. Now on to raising the bind count and preparing for Vellgander, that should be a different matter.

5x GR points for S ranks, leveling is very fast.

One thing I've noticed while going for the 100S Ranks (apart from the fact that, in european version, the multiplier for S rank is 1.8, but I was aware of that), is that Dahlia points don't get multiplied, they go along with the base score. This means that, in my case, reaching GR30 through "multiplier inflated" scores would cut almost in half the amount of GR26 weapons for the rare trophy I'd be able to buy from the Dahlia shop once I'll hit GR30. Apart from the quests I'll need to do again in order to farm mats, I think I'll continue farming Dahlia points (and guild points) through Arena II, killing the Golem and quitting, it seems to me that it's the fastest method to collect Dahlia points and in the end, once I'll hit GR30, will save me from binding almost half the amount of GR26 weapons required for the 50 rare weapons trophy.

While farming materials I've managed to S rank a few other quests (I'll add the scores later):

The Meddlers I (40300p)

Just Deserts I (25000p)

I Am The Gatekeeper I (25100p)

Support The Troops I

Vellgander: Upper Apex (60000p, 18 min completion time) :applause:

might come in handy for those having trouble with a few of the "original" ones I s ranked when I've obtained the trophy, especially Strike Like the Wind, Caravan Escort and such, which require a huge amount of luck (well, not really because I've done them here and in WKC1 also, but they can be annoying nonetheless).

So I was reminded by Zygo89 in the trophy guide & roadmap thread that I should also post the 100 quests I S-ranked as reference for someone who might be trying to solo platinum this game like we are (and Brightblade did before us). I don’t know how helpful that theoretical person will find this but more information never hurts.

I will not post what my scores were since I don’t really see the point of that but I did these S-ranks right after reaching GR26 and getting 3 full sets of Dahlia gear (-2 pieces).

All three characters had all (relevant) passive skills available to them. My avatar was using a Glittering Bow & Duergar set while Yulie & Eldore used Glittering Wands with Demon King sets.

4) All in the Cards I & II

6) Boot Camp

7) Lumber Support I & II

9) Nocturnal Commission I & II

11) Troll Treasure I & II

22) Material Advisor I & II

24) Support the Troops

25) Plains: Free Monster Quest

26) The Lost Children I, II & III

29) Sprog Cleaning

30) Miner Problem I & II
