Introduction:

Warriors: Legends of Troy is an action game from the company behind the Dynasty Warriors franchise. This is the first release from the newly opened Tecmo Koei Canada, with the intent of making a western style version of their games. This game focuses on the historic battle of Troy and Greece. It plays much like the previous games of its similar namesake; though previous knowledge of the game play or story are not needed to enjoy this game.

The item system has taken an overhaul, and you no longer gain levels. You now have a item grid, and each item has a Tetris style shape that you must place within that grid. Most of the familiar attack metrics return, along with a new Stun attack button that replaces the ability to jump, although you can roll to avoid attacks. Every unit comes equipped with a shield, and has improvable stats through items. Most notable change to the stats is the removal of defense. One other change is that if you die, you can restart from the last checkpoint and not lose the entire level’s effort.

I recommend going into the options and adjust the controls to your liking. I turn on all of the units’ health bars at the start, and changed the button layout to "aggressive", so that block was on :l1: and roll was on :r1:. This is how Dynasty/Samurai Warriors are laid out and I am used to that configuration.

Roadmap

Step 1: Complete the Story Once

At the game’s beginning, only the story mode is accessible to play. 3 difficulties are open at the start: Easy/Normal/Hard. You can start on Normal or Hard if you want more of a challenge, but I recommend starting on Easy as it will help you bulk up your character and is quicker to play through. It will also make several trophies easier to get because you can restart from checkpoints with full health.

In your first run you will be able to pick-up most of the story/boss related trophies, combat/kill based trophies, and a few others like The Underdog. None of the trophies can be missed, because you can replay any chapter through chapter select. Your main goal other than trophy pick-up is to gather kleos to upgrade and fill your item grid to help boost your character. While playing it is advisable to look for blessings and complete the level’s secondary quests. You can get A Lot of Time on Your Hands on this run if you choose. This is not required yet, but it will help to advance your character much quicker and practice for the play through on Expert. To find an in-progress guide on secondary quests, go to Rock Karoly's thread on xbox360Achievements here.

Step 2: Completing All Chapters and Secondary Quests on Expert

Beating the storyline once will have unlocked Farewell Troy, all of the stages for chapter selection, the challenges, many items, one of the cheats, one Helen artwork, and the last difficulty setting - Expert.

For platinum runs, I recommend that you next play story mode on Expert while completing all secondary quests on every stage. This will get you most of the items for your character that will make the rest of the trophies extremely easier. It will also satisfy most of the conditions for Items Make Games Awesome, and unlock Helen art #2. You can also easily get Are you Tough Enough? and By the Gods on this run. On your Expert play through, make sure to buy and use items that you have unlocked. Learn to use your shield, parry, roll when in trouble, and use the lock-on targeting system to help defeat the special enemies. You can also restart from a checkpoint if you fail the requirements for any trophy during a chapter instead of having to play the entire stage over again.

Save these tasks for after Expert: 3rd unique items, all challenges, Normal/Hard play throughs, Perfect!, Too Fast to Furious, Time Extension, Without a Scratch, and Miss Kleos. All of these can be gotten earlier, but they are extremely easier and quicker if you wait.

Step 3: Clean-up

3rd Unique Items:

Each 3rd unique item is a one square block that greatly extends and fills the meter one of your stats. You need to unlock and purchase all of these for Items Make Games Awesome and before getting Too Fast to Furious as one of the items extends your fury meter. Take advantage of the items and cheats from your expert play through to make short work of these. For help obtaining some these items, follow the link to my: FAQ.

Challenges:

There are 3 different types of challenges, as well as an Epic (or expert) version of each. Completing each once will net you all of the trophies associated with them, except Here Comes a New Challenger, but this trophy will be very easy if you waited until now to get it. See Epic Success for details on each challenge.

Normal and Hard Play Throughs:

This is required to get the last Helen art. See The Face that Launched a Thousand Ships for details. With the items from Expert, this should be fast and simple. Do not bother with secondary tasks, just run for each yellow marked main goal. Ignore troops even, except on protect style missions where you need to clear the path to prevent damage to escorted units. Chapters will be over in only minutes. To make it the easiest, from chapter select I recommend playing each stage on Normal and then Hard, before moving onto the next chapter. Knowing exactly where to go speeds up the process.

Kleos Farming:

There are a lot of very expensive items, so you will need to do some kleos farming to get them. The quickest way is to play the Arena challenge over and over again. The unique item unlocked from the arena challenge doubles kleos, and so does the cheat earned from beating the game on hard. Combine these and play the Arena challenge for max kleos farming. Takes me 1:29 to beat this challenge for over 160K. Some people prefer the Rampage challenge as well with the same setup.

Specific Trophies:

If you don’t have them, go back and get: Miss Kleos, Perfect!, Without a Scratch, The Underdog, 10-Second Knockout, Time Extension, Too Fast to Furious, and wrap-up Items Make Games Awesome.

Cheats:

Each time you beat all of the chapters (does not have to be done in the story mode except for first play through) on any difficulty, it unlocks a cheat. These can be turned on at any time with no detriment to the game's modes or trophies. These can help you if you are having trouble in any chapter or challenge.

- Easy, Super Strength, send enemies flying into the air

- Normal, Big Head Mode, easier seen targets

- Hard, Double Kleos, doubles kleos gained but you die if hit once

- Expert, Infinite Ammo, can infinitely :triangle: throw any picked up weapon

Earn all of the trophies in Warriors: Legends of Troy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/42.jpg Bless You (B)

Collect a blessing.

See Life is a Blessing.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/11.jpg I Love Items! (B)

Buy 10 items.

See Items Make Games Awesome.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/26.jpg No Vacancy (B)

Complete a chapter with enough items equipped to completely fill the largest item grid.

This will happen somewhere during your second play through due to the high cost. There are 4 upgrades, starting at 10,000 kleos and goes up in price by that amount for each successive upgrade (i.e. 10K, 20K, 30K, 40K). Total cost is 100,000 kleos and the final grid size is 11 X 9. Make sure when you are getting this that every single item grid square is filled with something. 3rd unique items help as they are 1 square large.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/46.jpg Here Comes a New Challenger (B)

Reach Hektor in the epic bloodlust challenge within 10 minutes.

See Epic Success.

Note: you only have to reach Hektor in 10 minutes, not defeat him.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/48.jpg Life is a Blessing (S)

Collect all blessings in a chapter.

Blessings are little, yellow, vertical flame looking objects that can be found on all maps. They are hidden in the chapter's remote sections, usually where offbeat paths or dead ends are. They boost life, fury, and kleos and there are usually 3-6 per a level. They do not appear until you are right next to them, so make sure you search thoroughly.

This can be done on any stage, but I recommend chapter 1.

Locations:[spoiler=jaws1]1) At the start of the battle, turn around and search right where the shore line and the edge of the map meet.

2) Once past the tutorial on perfect attacks and the arrows start to fall from above, go down the end of the second alcove on the right.

3) Once past the first duel and saving the Greeks secondary quest, you are headed down the river. Look to the left in an alcove off of the shore next to a large tree. This is before the Slasher fight.

4) The final blessing is in the corner on the left-most side of the 3 large launchers that you are going up the hill to stop. In order to reach it, you must go around the left side of the big rock at the top of the hill. DO NOT approach the final enemy that begins the end duel or you will miss it.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/49.jpg A Lot of Time on Your Hands (S)

Complete all secondary objectives on any difficulty.

You can do this on your first/easy play through if you wish, but you must do it on your Expert play through in order to unlock all of the requirements for Items Make Games Awesome.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/47.jpg Epic Success (S)

Complete the Epic Arena, Epic Rampage, and Epic Bloodlust challenges.

They are the same challenges as the normal versions, only the units attack more often and for greater damage.

Arena – a series of duels in progressing strength. Play as Odysseus, equip items to: double knives, make all strong attacks perfect, make perfect attacks unblockable, make perfect attacks do heavy damage, slow the rate of fury depletion, more damage in duels, be invulnerable while in fury, then extend your fury bar as much as you can. On each stage just do :square::square::triangle: to decimate the foes. After your fury is usable, activate it at the start of each round. My time- 1:29.

Rampage – a non-stop barrage of enemies. Once you make a single attack, you must keep your kleos count activated the rest of the battle. This means you cannot be hit, and cannot go more than a few seconds without making a hit (shields do not count). The final round releases Achilles into the fray. Equip items to: make all attacks perfect, invulnerable while in fury, slow fury reduction, then max out your strong and fury stats. I like Penthesilea and her :square::square::square::triangle: attack. Fill up your fury, activate, and keep killing.

Bloodlust – Basically you are poisoned and loose health gradually. You must fight squads of enemies to gain health through the kleos system. You can circle the map, or you can just run back and forth as enemy units outside the fog of war will instantly re-spawn. The final boss spawns near where ever you are. Use items that: max and fill out the health gauge, restore promised life during battle, all attacks are perfect, perfect are unblockable, and perfect do heavy damage.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/50.jpg Face That Launched 1000 Ships (S)(H)

Unlock all of Helen’s concept art.

There are 3 artworks. The first one unlocks after beating the story mode once. The second one will unlock after beating all of the chapters on another difficulty. The third and last one will unlock when all chapters have been given a yellow crest. The yellow crest is obtained by beating a chapter on all 4 difficulties. This can be done in story or chapter select.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/51.jpg Items Make Games Awesome (G)

Buy all of the items.

To unlock all of the items you will need to play through the game at least twice, unlock all unique items, and defeat all of the challenges. Then you will then need to purchase the items. Many of the high end items are very expensive and are also very beneficial. Follow the roadmap on the Easy then Expert route and you will get them all. Follow the link to my FAQ for help on a few of the more difficult secondary quests and 3rd unique items.

Unique Items:

- Unique item 1 is unlocked by doing all secondary objectives on any difficulty.

- Unique item 2 is unlocked by doing all secondary objectives on Expert. This can be obtained along with unique item 1 at the same time.

- Some stages that have a unique item 3, and have special conditions to unlock. These can be found in the item store by selecting the ???? item and reading the description. It will only have this description after you have beaten the game once. All of the 3rd unique items are obtained on Expert and are single square extreme stat boosters; one for each of the stats.

Combat Based

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/12.jpg There’s No Escape! (B)

Kill a fleeing enemy by throwing a picked-up weapon.

See Now That’s Just Mean...

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/25.jpg Now That’s Just Mean… (B)

Kill 10 fleeing enemies by throwing picked-up weapons.

After the leader of a squadron has been defeated, reduce any enemy unit to minimal health and it will cower in fear then turn and run away. While it is running away, pick-up any other defeated unit’s weapon, face towards the fleeing enemy, and throw the weapon with :triangle:. Repeat this process 10 times. This is cumulative, and can be done over several chapters.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/13.jpg They See Me Rollin’, They Hatin’ (B)

Perform a rolling Quick Attack on an enemy from behind.

Come up behind an enemy unit that is fighting another soldier. Start several paces away, then press the button assigned to roll. End the motion with :square:. The attack must connect with the enemy’s back.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/28.jpg What a Waste… (B)(H)

Miss all of your attacks while in fury.

Once your fury bar is past the activation mark, just activate it with :circle: and hit nothing.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/39.jpg The Underdog (B)

Win a duel after entering it with critical health.

[spoiler=jaws2]

This can be gotten easily on your first play through of chapter 1. After you reach the section with the arrows that fall from the sky, defeat all of the enemy units first (so you do not build up any kleo health), but do not move forward to where the first tutorial duel takes place yet - by the troops standing in a circle. Then just stand there with no shield up and let the arrows hit you until your life bar goes from blue, to yellow, to red. Once your life bar is red, you can block and move forward. This first duel is very easy and you should have no problem defeating him. If you happen to die after this duel, you can easily just restart from the checkpoint.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/20.jpg No Mercy! (B)

Perform 20 finishers.

A finisher is when you use :triangle: when it is lit up above the enemies head to do a special death scene. See I Like Choreography for details on the types of finishers. You only need 20 finishers total to get this. This is cumulative and can be obtained over several chapters.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/14.jpg Denied! (B)

Perform a parry on an enemy’s parry in a duel.

During any duel, attack the enemy with :square: attacks until they bash your attack away while the screen slows down and zooms in for a second. After this, just stand there and wait for the enemy to attack you next. It could take a few seconds for this to happen. When they do, tap your block button just as they start their motion in order to parry the incoming attack, and the screen should zoom in again. Even though there was a healthy pause between attacks, this will count. If you are having troubles, you can activate your fury and get in close, as the game will often flash the button for block on the screen when you are supposed to push it for a parry.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/22.jpg A Lot of Blood (B)

Kill 50 enemies while in fury.

See A Perfect Amount of Blood.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/19.jpg “Twentieth” Blood (B)

Kill 20 special enemies.

There are many units that have names over their heads, but the specific 6 types of special enemies that can be found on any map are: Slasher (carries 2 swords), Guardian (carries a large shield), Crusher (carries a large club), Hunter (carries 2 spears) , Brute (carries a spiked shield and a club) , and Slayer (large unit with a big sword). They come in regular and "Elite" versions. Defeat 20 of these units, it is cumulative, and you do not have to defeat each type as all 20 can be the same one.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/15.jpg I’m Just Getting Started… (B)

Kill 1000 enemies.

See It’s Over 9000!!!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/24.jpg Practice Makes Perfect (B)

Perform 100 perfectly-Timed Attacks on enemies.

This is cumulative across chapters and will happen in the natural progress of the game. It should happen before the end of your first play through. Just ensure that you are using these attacks in battle regularly. You will know if you do these moves successfully because the screen will zoom in and slow down. If you have troubles, use the item gained on Expert that makes all attacks perfect.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/27.jpg Zombie Homicider (B)(H)

Perform a finisher on an enemy zombie.

Starting in the chapter Plague, there will be levels where zombies appear. They are usually alongside large boss units and have green smoke on the stage or emitting from them. They are quite easy to identify. Just use a :triangle: finish on any one unit when the button appears over their head. The fight at the very end of Plague will be your first chance to get this.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/37.jpg Efficient Killer (B)

Perform a finisher on each of the 6 special enemy types.

[spoiler=jaws3]Perform a :triangle: finish when the button appears over the unit’s head at least once with each of the 6 different special enemy types. Elite versions are not counted differently. See the special enemy descriptions in "Twentieth” Blood. Most of these appear frequently, but the Slayer appears on only two maps that I have found. First one is on the chapter 5 where Achilles ransacks the villages for supplies. He is guarding the main gate entrance. There are 2 elite versions that appear on the 20th stage, and the story makes you duel with one of them. The other appears in a secondary quest in the NW corner of the map.

In all cases you need to whittle their energy down, but be careful not to strike with any large attacks when they are getting to < 25% health. Once they are near death, they will stand there and wobble for a few seconds, and the :triangle: finisher should appear over their head. Be careful if you are using a projectile type Hero though, as if you are not in close enough range, you will simply throw your projectile when you push :triangle: and loose the finishing opportunity.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/29.jpg Epic Failanx (B)(H)

Break the shields of everyone in a phalanx without killing any of them.

I recommend the chapter Justice. When you enter the river at the chapter's beginning, you will come to an island divider soon after. Take the right side and you will come across a unit of shielded soldiers. First, kill the archers behind them. Then, only use :cross: attacks on the enemy units with shields as those damage their shields but do very minimal damage to their health. As the group starts to only have a few units with shields left, hold down the lock-on button to target only those units (you can switch targets with :rs: if you need to).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/10.jpg Perfect! (B)

Perform a 6-hit combo of Perfectly-Timed Quick Attacks on enemies.

Beat the game on Expert first. Play the Rampage challenge. Equip items to: makes all attacks perfect ones, perfect attacks are unblockable, invulnerable during fury. Attack until fury is full, activate it, then connect a string of 6 perfects, and ensure every blow lands on a enemy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/21.jpg I Like Choreography (B)

Perform 3 different finishers with each hero.

There are 8 heroes in total you will play as in story mode, you cannot choose what hero to use on what chapter as it is pre-determined. [spoiler=jaws4]The Heroes are: Achilles, Odysseus, Hector, Paris, Penthesilea, Ajax, Patroklos, and Aeneas. This will take the full game to unlock as the final, 21st chapter introduces Aeneas.

As you play through the game, try to use different finishers with each hero as you acquire them.

Finishers can be done by:

- Running at a unit and using :cross: to open their guard, followed up by a :triangle:.

-- The above method can sometimes be combo’d into a second finisher when a circle of wind activates around the hero and any enemy units caught within that circle will have a :triangle: over their head. This move depends on the hero you are using. You can direct which unit to attack with :rs:.

--- The above method can also be altered by the distance from the target. If far away, some characters will do a new jumping motion to finish. This also works with other :triangle: finishers depending on the hero.

- Approaching a unit from behind.

- Doing a stun combo (i.e. :square::square::cross:) that causes the enemy unit to break their guard or drop/loose their shield.

- When a grunt enemy unit is stunned and falls onto the ground, you can sometimes do a :triangle: while they are lying on the ground. Zombie units often spawn while laying on the ground and you can activate this before they get up.

- Finishing off a special unit.

- Boss unit's unique finishers may count towards this...

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/31.jpg By the Gods! (B)

Kill 500 Trojans in Plague on Expert difficulty.

You can get this on your second play through with not much special effort. Kill everything! Do not let a lot of enemy units flee when they are low on health, and make sure to wander around all of the paths. There are easily more than 500 enemies on this stage so you don’t have to do any special farming. Ensure you have the difficulty set correct before playing the stage.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/32.jpg 10-Second Knockout (B)

Defeat an enemy hero in under 10 seconds.

This can be done before your second play through, but is extremely quicker after. Easiest place is the Arena Challenge. Use items that: make all attacks perfect, perfect attacks do great damage, perfect attacks are unblockable, more damage in duels, and then max out your attack stats. See Epic Success for help on the Arena challenge strategy. Should be super easy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/38.jpg Too Fast to Furious (B)

Completely fill the maximum fury meter in under 2 minutes without using items that generate fury.

This should be saved for after your Expert play through with all secondary quests completed and all 3rd unique items have been received. Follow my raodmap and you will have all of them. This trophy is a tad deceiving as you need to first max out your fury gauge's total length (4 items do this), and then also fill the meter up with items until it is completely filled. Play the Rampage challenge and you should have this very quickly after the start.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/40.jpg Time Extension! (B)

Maintain your kleos for 3 minutes during a chapter.

You need to begin your kleo counter and keep it active for a full 3 minutes. I recommend Ajax’s final stage Madness as the last section before the final boss spawns infinite troops. One of the items obtained on Expert makes you invulnerable during your fury. Combine this with the item that halves the speed at which it is reduced, then extend your meter to its' maximum. Epic Rampage also gives you a item that makes your kleos counter not end if you get hit. Then run into a crowd and continously spam :cross: and then :triangle: finish any enemy. While in the finish animation, your fury meter freezes but time keeps ticking away.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/41.jpg Miss Kleos (B)(H)

Achieve 350 kleos with Penthesila during a chapter.

Do after your Expert play through. I recommend the chapter Justice.[spoiler=jaws6]Once you get past the duel with the special enemies in the river, run to the right after the river ends. In the two alcoves on the right side of the village you get for the secondary quest, the left one has a 250 kleo blessing. You need to lure over the village troops so that when you grab the blessing you can get to the troops before it subsides. Then activate your fury and land perfect atatcks. Use items that: make you invulnerable when in fury, kleos counter does not reset on being hit, all attacks are perfect, slow fury reduction rate.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/23.jpg A Perfect Amount of Blood (S)

Kill 496 enemies while in fury.

This is total kills while you are in fury mode and is cumulative. Should happen before the end of your first play through if you are taking the time to fight a lot of battles and do secondary quests.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/16.jpg It’s Over 9000!!! (S)

What! 9000 (kills)? There’s no way that can be right! Can it?

This is total kills and is cumulative. Should happen before the end of your first play through if you are taking the time to fight a lot of battles and do secondary quests.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/44.jpg Are You Tough Enough? (S)

Complete a chapter without equipping any items on Hard or Expert difficulty.

You can do this on your second Expert play through fairly easily. On chapter 1 just don’t equip anything. Level is easy enough that should have no real problems. Just run past everyone and all you have to do is win 3 duels. Don’t take the Slasher or end duel for granted though! Block and parry. You can restart from a checkpoint if you die and still receive the trophy, even during the end cinematic.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/43.jpg Without a Scratch (S)

Complete a chapter without being damaged on Hard or Expert difficulty.

Wait until after your Expert play through, and play chapter 1 on Expert. You can run/roll past all of the enemies except for the 3 duels. Equip items that: all attacks are perfect, perfect attacks are unblockable, perfect attacks do heavy damage, invulnerable while in fury, slow fury reduction. Remember to block in the arrows falling from the sky section. If you get damaged, you can restart from the last checkpoint.

Boss Related (all recommended on first play through)

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/33.jpg Getting Kicked Down There… (B)(H)

Get 5 enemy zombies kicked by the statue of Apollo.

[spoiler=jaws7]When you face the statue of Apollo, one of his attacks is to kick out at you. On this stage you will also face waves of zombies in sets of 5. The goal is to lure the zombies to Apollo’s feet and have him kick out, and land attacks on zombies 5 times. It can be the same zombie that is kicked all 5 times. To get Apollo to kick, be in front of him. Easiest way is to use the item that makes you invulnerable during fury, and just stand there. If you run low on zombies, kill all of them, and Apollo will regenerate all 5 in a little time. He will do this infinitely.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/34.jpg 7 of Clubs (B)(H)

Get 7 enemy soldiers killed by the Cyclops.

[spoiler=jaws8]

Cyclops is the final boss on a stage about halfway through the story mode with Hektor. 6 enemies spawn with you when he appears. You need the Cyclops to kill 7 enemy units. The Cyclops does only 2 attacks often. A wave that travels the screen in a linear line, and he also grabs a chunk of earth the throws it where you are standing. The former does little damage except for any unit hit dead center which is hard to do, but the wave can hit many units at once. The later deals great damage to a small group of enemy units, but has a high risk of damaging you as well if you time your roll wrong. Stand right in the middle of the group awaiting the tossed earth, and then roll right before it lands.

My method was to run to one side of the map and let the enemy bunch near me while the Cyclops is on the other side of the map, then I did circles around the enemies and towards the Cyclops. This kept the enemies corralled in the middle of the screen and I could watch the Cyclops so when he attacked I could line up the attack with the units on the screen. It did take me awhile to get this one as the Cyclops takes a lot of time just wandering around and not attacking, and his attacks are not very strong unless they hit dead on, which is somewhat rare. To get 7 kills, I also needed to spawn a second wave of grunts and get one more kill.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/30.jpg Stop With the Sibling Rivalry! (B)(H)

[spoiler=jaws9]

Do not attack Hippolyte when she comes to haunt you.

When you face Hippolyte’s ghost as a boss, simply do nothing. Stand there and let her defeat you. Oddly enough, you will also advance the storyline this way.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/35.jpg Hard Target (B)(H)

Defeat the Griffin without getting hit by any sand pillar attacks.

[spoiler=jaws10]

When you face the Griffin, he shoots out these tall tornado looking pillars of sand, do not let one hit you. Just stand still and face him. He will sort of lock-on to you and charge and initiate a QTE if you hold your ground. If entered successfully, there will be a phase two. Do the same thing. Then approach to initiate the :triangle: finisher when it is lying there on the ground after the second QTE. Battle will be easy if you have maxed out your quick and strong attack stats.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/884/36.jpg This is a Non-Smoking Section (B)(H)

Get 3 enemy zombies hit simultaneously by Lyssa's ground smoke attack.

[spoiler=jaws11]

When you get to the end of Ajax’s final stage Madness, you will fight a final clone general and then a tall, long-nailed, black demon comes out (Lyssa). She stands in front of a broken wall, and enemies slowly pour in from behind her. Delay attacking until a good handful of soldiers makes their way into the middle of the battlefield. Then rush Lyssa and land a few attacks. She shrieks and jumps back and then launches a very large vertical wave attack. This can be blocked with your shield if you are facing her. The good news is if you have any enemy soldiers on the field, it will most likely hit 3 of them with ease.

FAQs

How do you defeat Lyssa on Expert and get the secondary quest?

[spoiler=jaws101] Lyssa appears at the end of Ajax's final Stage, Madness. The secondary quest asks you to defeat her in 4 min or less. You will complete it if Lyssa is defeated and disappears and any time is still left on the clock counting down.

Begin by restarting from the checkpoint once you have reached her and change your items. Max out your gauge and stats for quick and strong attack. Ensure you have his :square::square::square::triangle: attack equipped. Other items that can help: more damage when fury is full, damage to godly monsters, more damage when in fury, and any other damage related items. Ignore life, fury, and the rest except to fill out your remaining empty slots. If you are doing this after your expert run through, add: all attacks are perfect and perfects do heavy damage.

Go right after her at the beginning. Ignore the troops, as she will get rid of them for you with her wave attacks. When she takes about 4 or so hits, she will backtrack. Chase her. When she sends out the big wave, just block while facing her, and you take zero damage. Soon as it goes by, hit her again. When you can hit her, get in :square::square::square::triangle: perfect attacks. You need to do as much damage as quick as you can. Use the lock-on button to help. Ensure that after phase 1, you do the :triangle: finish as soon as it appears over her head.

Phase 2, you can just run at her and do :square::square::triangle: at the middle, as that covers ground and kills the fakes while they are huddled there together. If you miss one, just ignore them. Repeat the phase 1 process on her for damage and to finish. Same exact thing for phase 3, EXCEPT now is the time to use your fury. Begin with it as soon as you reach her. When she is < 25% life, watch carefully for the :triangle: finish so you can activate it immediately. You will need around 40 seconds on the clock to do the final QTE in time.

How do you complete the protection chapters with Ajax on Expert and also get the 3rd unique item?

[spoiler=jaws102] Ajax has two different protection chapters. One with a ram and one with Agamemnon. In both, the units will follow you and ask that you must keep their health above: 50% for the ram's secondary quest, 80% for the ram's 3rd unique item, and 75% for Agamemnon's secondary quest. You will know if you failed as a message will appear to tell you so.

Equip items to: extend and max out quick and strong attack stats, escorted allies take less damage, and fill the rest with what you like. In both chapters, your main goal is too keep enemies away from the thing you are protecting. Note: you cannot damage the protected unit with your attacks.

Circle Technique:

Never run too far away from what you are protecting, stay close at all times. I recommend spamming only :square::square::triangle: for all of Ajax's attacks on these stages. He both hits enemies and covers a lot of ground. The trick is to never spend too much time on any one side of the protected unit. Make a circle around the protected unit: attack the left side, then the right/middle, then back to the left, etc... Repeat this until all enemies are done. Only use 1 attack chain on each side, then rotate. Enemies do not just rush the protected unit. They stop at the guards first and move in waves. If you keep circling the unit and backing them up with attacks, they never seem to reach the unit. If you fail at any time, you can always restart from the last checkpoint.

Agamemnon:

Only important note on this chapter is to RUN as fast as you can to him at the start of the level. Ignore all troops on the way. Then clear out the troops near him and begin your trip. If he has less health than you like, just restart the chapter. You can stay a little ahead of him during the rest of the journey if you like, but do not let ANY units approach him at all. If he gets hit, you can just restart the checkpoint.

Ram:

At each gate. use the circle technique and you should have little problems. Do not bash open the stone gates until you are sure that all other units have been defeated in that area. Restart from a checkpoint if the ram takes any damage you cannot live with.

At the final gate, start by running to the right side of the ram and head to the edge of the building. Turn left and intercept the archers while around the corner. Make them draw swords, and hit them with a quick attack. Quickly run back to the ram and clear out any soldiers standing next to it on the left side of the ram. Then just use the circle technique. Also, use your fury to make short work of the 2 special units. I did this on expert and had 100% ram health...

How do you complete Nightfall on Expert and get the 3rd unique item?

[spoiler=jaws105]You need to get to the enemy camp on the other side of the river without a single patrol guard shouting out that they have spotted you. A message on the screen will confirm if this has happened. Note: you only need to arrive at this camp, not defeat it.

Beat the game on expert first to unlock the Infinite Ammo Cheat. This enables you to pick up any item, and throw it without losing the item. Turn the Infinite Ammo cheat on. Equip items to extend and max out your strong attack. Also equip the whirlwind throw. This enables thrown items to damage surrounding enemies as well. Fill the rest of your grid with anything, as it does not matter. Remember that you can restart from checkpoint later AFTER you have completed the item requirements, so you can change your items then to finish the chapter as you would on your normal/hard run throughs. It is advised to go to the options screen and turn all enemy unit's life bars on to be viewable.[spoiler=jaws103]Move towards the first guard and see the tutorial scene. Kill him from behind and pick up his weapon. From here on out it is now easy. Only move forward enough to see the life bar above a enemy's head, and throw the sword. Should die in one hit and you still have the sword. It will even kill 2 enemies if they are next to each other. Slowly advance, watch the map for enemies on patrol routes and kill everyone from a nice safe distance. Ignore the camp on the left secondary quest, as it is not needed. Kill all scouts at the campfire base and cross the river. Once you enter the town where the message about "using surprise to your advantage" happens, you have done it! Even if the scouts see you in that camp, the requirements are to only reach this camp. Now just finish the level.

How do you defeat Agamemnon and get the 3rd Unique Item?

[spoiler=jaws104]You need to defeat Agamemnon but you cannot defeat any of the guards he calls on for help.

Best done after expert run, but can be done before without too much fuss. Be sure you are on the Expert difficulty. Can be done from a chapter select battle. Play through the chapter until you are at the last boss fight.

Before the expert play through has been completed:

Begin by restarting from checkpoint and change all of your items. Use items that: boost quick and strong attack, more damage in fury, more damage in duels, more damage when fury is full. Then follow the below advice.

After expert:

Also equip items to: all attacks are perfect, perfect attacks cannot be blocked, perfect attacks do more damage. Then follow the below advice. Difference? He will die soooooo much quicker.

Fight:

Try not to use any attacks that have a wide sweeping range. Stick to linear attacks that only hit in front of you. Begin by attacking him with :square::square::cross: to open his guard (or a parry if you are good at those) then sneak an attack in (any quick perfect combo). Notice that he gets moved backwards from this. Keep pushing him into the edge of the duel ring then turn and start moving him flush against the edge of circled troops with the same combos so that you kind of keep circling the ring on its edge. As he calls his guards forward, you will stay ahead of them as long as you keep moving him backwards. They sort of chase you but don't really ever catch up to you if you stay on the move. When he gets to like 25-33% life left, activate your fury attacks and unleash your best moves, nail perfect combos and he goes down real easy while you are never near his guards. If you accidentally kill one, just reset from checkpoint, even during the cinematic.

Very nice guide mate, just a little bit of info for the arena challenge, the 11th duel includes a 2 on 1, the 15th is a 3 on 1 and the final battle (16th) is a 4 on 1 battle. Just a little note there to let people know what they can look forward to, lol.

EDIT: 2nd little note: any battle trophy can be gained in challenge mode, I managed to get The Underdog trophy as well as the Denied! and First Action Hero Trophies.

EDIT 2: Another heads-up for you, the cyclops does 3 attacks, the 3rd one is where he stomps on the group and creates a circular shockwave.

thanks.

It looks like the Expert playthrough releases some items that are made to help overcome pretty much every issue. There are items that make all of the challenges way easier. I will list out the best ones when I beat it on Expert. Bout halfway there now.

Also, it may be that 4 playthroughs are needed, one on each diifuclty...to unlock all of the Helen art.... Trying to confirm.

Updated the cheats section, all 4 have been found now.

Great guide! Really in depth.

Some suggestions though:

First, just read over your guide again, because I noticed a couple spelling/grammar issues.

Second, the "Without a Scratch" spoiler tag isn't working or doesn't have anything written in it.

Finally, you may want to add in button smilies

:square: for quick attack, :triangle: for finisher etc.

Thanks. I will clean it up as I fill in the missing gaps and the trophy icons become availible. This was my first guide, so I didn't know how much of my word file would carry over. A whole bunch did not, so i had to react on the fly to fix all the formatting nightmares. I had all the icons and buttons in my file, but none of it carried over. Lesson learned. Might take me a bit to find them all. I have fixed the "Without a Scratch" as you can probaly guess i re-used a spoiler ID on accident. I don't want to add the buttons for block or rolling the guide though as I changed my controller layout, and what I write in the guide may conflict with anyone who left it at the default setting.

Forgot to mention that the Arena's unique item is called Kastor's Spearhead and it gives you double Kleos when fury gauge is full. A nice little item to cut down the amount of grinding needed to purchase all items.

The cheat for Hard also doubles kleos. Combine these two and play rampage... I avearge 5-6K on epic trying to beat it without either. That would get me 20K just trying that level in mere minutes. Hmmmm.....

Very nice guide, good job Metal_Jaws

Much appreciated, thank you. I'm just glad to give back for once.

Cool guide Jaws, found some helpful hints

Thanks, I just hope it helps. I am playing daily and updating when I learn something new. Hopefully this will be broken wide open in a few days.

concerning the "perfect" achievement.

you have to do 6 quick attacks, first can't be a timed based, but the following five have to be perfect timed ones and EACH attack, even the first has to kill at least one enemy to work. hope that clarifies it :)

Ok, I broke open the game. If you follow the guide and play through twice, with the second time on Expert, all else becomes a breeze. The items make you just unstoppable. Some of the trophies become so easy, you will be mad you ever tried for them before.

Look for the revsions in the guide to reflect this.

Trying to Confirm - that you do have to play through the whole game 4 times to plat. Helen artwork unlocks once on each play. Looks like there are 3 Helen artworks. I have 2 from beating the game twice. On 3rd play through now to test. I don't think you have to be in story mode though, as chapter select seems to work fine. 3rd and 4th runs will be quick as I can ignore secondary quests, finally. I finished the last stage in all difficulties just in case that was the key....it was not.

All items have been unlocked. Just need Helen and all items to Plat.

Now that I am done with the game (as my PS3 is dead), but I finished ever so close to the plat for this, I am re-doing the roadmap to be more effecient and correct based on end-game knowledge. this should help plat runners with more ease and clarification.

I just need a few final trophy icon images, otherwise the roadmap and guide are now done. That is unless anyone finds a hole, or a better method... :D

I want to emphasize: There’s no point doing a first play on hard, I wasted a lot of time. Don’t bother playing on hard unless you’re doing trophy clean-up. Hard mode unlocks the same Special Items as easy/normal.

Items rule this game. First beat Normal, then Expert, and then you’re unstoppable! But be sure to unlock all the Secondary Objectives on each playthrough. Chapter select doesn’t seem to affect trophies so far. Once you have just a few expert items Challenge mode becomes much easier.

It's the same thing for Without a Scratch. If you get hit during a level, simply restart from checkpoint to erase the hit. As long as you don't accidentally reach a checkpoint with damage, you can restart from checkpoint as many times as you want and the trophy will still pop. I kept screwing up one really easy area and had to restart three times from checkpoint and still got the trophy.

Basically, there seems to be no harm in restarting for any of the trophies.

Good points, thanks guys. I have added a few notes to the trophy and roadmap sections to refelct that information. I used that tactic quite a bit on my first 2 play throughs as I did not yet know how good the expert items are. I actually got many of the trophies the very hard way, which was only a waste of time in the end.

Good guide...

Thank you :D

Sorry if I nseem a bit stupid. Any tips for the 3rd unique items during missions? the 80% ram, not getting spotted by patrol guards etc.

Time Extension - Best chapter is Ajax's final one Maddness. Right before the final fight with Lysaa, there is a stretch of road where you fight infinite spawning troops. For tips on how to get the trophy, read the guide above. Best done after your expert play through...

Too Fast to Furios - wait until you have beaten the game on expert along with all secondary quests and have recived the 3rd unique item that extends your fury meter. You CANNOT get it before this as you need the items you get to max out your fury gauge, a prerequisitie for the trophy, as well as to fill the fury gauage as well. Only then can you go fight enemies to get the trophy. Can be done anywhere, but rampage is easiest as the enemies come to you, and a lot of them do.

3rd uniques - all are easier after you expert play through but can be gotten sooner. The Nightfall mission is best done after expert as the cheat you get allows you to throw infinite weapons after picking up just one. Ram - equip items to max strong attack and spam :square::square::triangle: over and over again. this makes Ajax run and kill at the same time. Go in ONE direction, attack once, then go in ANOTHER direction and attack once, make a circle around the ram attacking each direction once. Pirority is to kill the closest units to the ram first. If you stay with any one enemy group too long another enemy unit will close in on the ram. if the ram gets damaged, just restart from checkpoint.

OK, i added a FAQ section for a couple questions I have seen mutiple times. Last 3 trophies should post any day now, so i will have those images in the guide ASAP afterwards. Also went through the guide and tiddied it up a bit. Made sure all references were correct, and updated a few descriptions. Cleaned up the 3rd uniques, all items, and Helen advice.

Unless anyone has any ideas or better methods, I'd say it is almost finalized.
