Gameplay and Trophy Discussion (spoilers)

Recommended Posts

I only have the game for a week and I doubt I will platinum it in that time, so until a guide and roadmap are up I thought I would put as much help out there as I can for this game. Please post any helpful ides or things you have learned here. I had another post, but I thought it would be better to make a full on trophy thread instead of just the questions I started with. If anything is wrong, please set it straight so that we are all on the same page. Thank you in advance.

- one note that will help on a few of the special boss related trophies. If you don’t meet the requirements, just let yourself be killed. You will respawn at the checkpoint, which in a boss battle is the beginning of the boss battle, and with full health. You can keep doing this until you get the trophy. You can even adjust your items if you think it will help.

Bronzes: (in no particular order)

B1) 7 of Clubs- Get 7 enemy soldiers killed by the Cyclops.

Cyclops is the final boss on a stage about halfway through the story mode. I believe about 6 enemies spawn with you when he appears. You need the Cyclops to kill 7 enemy units. The Cyclops does only 2 real attacks, a wave that travels the screen in a linear line, and he grabs a chunk of earth the throws it where you are standing. The former does little damage but can hit many units at once. The later deals great damage to enemy units, but has a high risk of damaging you as well if you time your roll wrong.

My method was to run to one side of the map and let the enemy bunch near me while the Cyclops is on the other side of the map, then I did circles around the enemies and towards the Cyclops. This kept the enemies kind of corralled in the middle of the screen and I could keep an "eye" on the Cyclops so when he attacked I could line up the attack with the units on the screen. It did take me awhile to get this one as the Cyclops takes a lot of time just wandering around and not attacking. To get 7 kills, I also needed to spawn a second wave of grunts and get one more kill.

B2) A Lot of Blood- Kill 50 enemies while in Fury.

This is cumulative will get fairly early. Just use fury attacks once in awhile, and not just on bosses.

B3) Twentieth Blood! - Kill 20 special enemies.

Special enemies are ones with names above their head and have the following titles: Slasher, Guardian, Hunter, Crusher, Brute, and Slayer. There are also "Elite" or stronger version of each. Just kill 20 of these units during gameplay. Will happen easily on its own. You can kill any amount of the 6 types, it does not have to include all classes.

B4) 10-Second Knockout -Defeat an enemy hero in under 10 seconds.

I saved this until I finished the game in my first playthrough. you will want some decent items to make this easy. Equip your attack items so that they are maxed out, and if you bought them also the items that deal more damage in duels. Then go to the third level on easy (first Paris level), build up your fury meter while capturing the 3 groups and rush to the NW corner to fight the Hero. Activate your fury and ensure you connect a few perfect attacks. He will go down real easy. Wait....that sounded wrong. Sorry.

B5) Bless You - Collect a Blessing.

These are the yellow fire looking items on stages that give you Kleos. If you don't have this, you are playing the wrong game, Just search around. One thing to know though, they cannot be seen form far away, you need to be very close before the just appear. Look anywhere on maps where you see a nook or a dead end. Often there. These are critical to help have enough money to buy all the items (another trophy) so start looking on map 1.

B6) By the Gods! - Kill 500 Trojans in Plague on Expert difficulty.

Self explanatory, but I have not done this yet. 500 is a lot for this game though. May take some manuvering to keep units spawning. To get expert difficulty, just beat the game on any difficulty.

B7) Cry Me a River! -Escape Skamandros.

Story related, cannot miss.

B8) Denied! - Perform a parry on an enemy's parry in a duel.

When in a 1-on-1 duel, if you spam regular attacks, eventually any hero will parry you. You will see the screen slow down for the affect. When that happens he will often attack soon after, but not always right away. Just stand there and wait for his next attack, which should be within a second or two and then time your block so that you parry that attack. That will count, even with the pause. Tip: If you are in furry mode, the game will flash the button you assigned for block on the screen when you should push it. Makes it easier if you are having trouble at all.

B9) Efficient Killer - Perform a Finisher on each of the 6 special enemy types.

On the before mentioned special enemy units types, you must finish them off with the power/triangle attack. Once per unit will net you this trophy. Slayer is the rarest one. If you whittle their energy down to almost gone and stop, they will stand there just kind of wobbling for a couple seconds, and the triangle icon should appear above their head. Just push the button when the icon is there and you are in range. Be careful with projectile units though, because if you are not in just the right spot you will hit them with your attack and not get the special kill.

B10) Epic Failanx - Break the shields of everyone in a phalanx without killing any of them.

You can do this with any group where they all have the full man sized shields. They also tend to line up for you. I found it much easier to do it with a leaderless unit. I found a great level for it. "Justice" with the amazonian fighter, right side of the first river fork has a squad where I got mine. Squad with no leader and all shields. There are also many squads of shielded solders with no leaders elsewhere in the level. Use the X/Stun attack only, and use the targeting button to help focus only on the solders left with shields. Trophy will pop when last shield falls off.

B11) First Action Hero - Defeat an enemy hero.

Story related, will get on 3rd level with Paris and the end of the level.

B12) First Blood! - Kill a special enemy.

Story related, will get on first level right after you come up the river and before you go up the mountain side.

B13) From Paris with Honor - Defeat Menelaos in a duel for the hand of Helen.

Story related, cannot miss. Happens much later in the game.

B14) Getting Kicked Down There... - Get 5 enemy zombies kicked by the statue of Apollo.

You will know when you are facing Apollo as he is the first real supernatural boss enemy you will fight, and he is a giant statue. 5 zombies will appear alongside with him. Apollo only uses his kick attack when you are near him, so you need to run up to him and hang around his feet. I use roll a lot and hit him with the x/stun attack to make him mad. He will kick out if you are positioned right. Note: the zombies do respawn in case you need them to, but only after all 5 are dead and Apollo summons them back. Also, he can kick the same zombie 5 times. This did take me a bit and was kind of frustrating.

B15) Gordie Howe Hat Trick - Complete the Arena, Rampage and Bloodlust challenges.

These stages unlock as you play through the story mode. They are accesible through the main menu as a separate play mechanic. I have not completed these yet….

B16) Hard Target - Defeat the Griffin without getting hit by any sand pillar attacks.

On this final boss, he shoots big columns of sand waves out. If you just stand dead center, the boss will zero in on you and begin a GOW style battle. If you input the sequence correctly he goes down. Wash and repeat. Was very easy.

B17) Here Comes A New Challenger - Reach Hektor in the Epic Bloodlust challenge within 10 minutes.

Epic bloodlust is the second version of the bloodlust challenge and will unlock naturally when playing the later story levels. I have not completed this one yet…

B18) I Like Choreography - Perform 3 different Finishers with each hero.

This will take all the way to the final 21st stage to get as the last level as a new Troy hero. Just ensure as you get each new hero in story mode that you concentrate on getting 3 unique finishers. You can get one by running at a enemy and using the stun attack. Sometimes this move links into another as well. You can also get a kill from behind attack. There is also special finish for when you are fighting a shielded enemy and you knock the shield away in a combo.

B19) I Love Items! - Buy 10 items.

Self explanatory. Just buy a few items from the menu. Should get this naturally during playthrough.

B20) I'm Just Getting Started... - Kill 1000 enemies.

Cumulative, will happen with time.

B21) I'm Too Old for This Shi...p. - Escort Agamemnon to the Greek ships

Story related, cannot miss

B22) Knock, Knock! - Open the gates of Troy for the Greek army.

Story related, cannot miss

B23) Miss Kleos - Achieve 350 Kleos with Penthesilea during a chapter.

“Justice” may be a good level to get the 350 Kleos trophy in. There is a camp on the right at the river's end, and a 250 kilos blessing in one of the alcoves. Lure the troops over, grab the blessing, then just need 100 kleos from battle without getting hit. Doing perfect actions raise your net kleos taken too. I have not been able to do this yet, but I am darn close.

B24) No Mercy! - Perform 20 Finishers.

Should happen in the normal course of play. Just make sure you are doing triangle buttons finishers on enemies from time to time.

B25) No Vacancy - Complete a chapter with enough items equipped to completely fill the largest item grid.

Ensure they are no gaps in the grid. The grid can be upgraded 4 times to a 9 X 11 square. Costs 10,000 kleos the first upgrade and goes up by 10,000 for each successive upgrade. So last upgrade costs 40,000. May have to grind a high level stage for money to make this go a lot quicker if you need the money.

B26) Now That's Just Mean... - Kill 10 fleeing enemies by throwing picked-up weapons.

When a enemy has very little life left and you don’t finish them off, they will run away. Pick up any defeated solder’s weapon, should glow yellow, and use the triangle attack in the direction of the fleeing solder while you can still see their life bar (if you turned that option on, which I recommend) and launch it. 10 kills nets you the trophy. Easily doable on stage 1…

B27) Perfect! - Perform a 6-hit combo of Perfectly-Timed Quick Attacks on enemies.

Have not gotten this yet and cannot confirm exactly how it is obtained. Yet…

B28) Practice Makes Perfect - Perform 100 Perfectly-Timed Attacks on enemies.

A perfect combo is denoted by the zooming in and slowing down of the screen. Connect 100 on enemies to get. If you are trying to do perfects all along, and you should as they do massive damage and tear through shields, it will pop naturally along the way.

B29) Stop with the Sibling Rivalry! - Do not attack Hippolyte when she comes to haunt you.

At this story end boss fight, the ghost will appear and you just….do nothing. Get yourself killed and you get the trophy and the story actually advances as well. Do not strike her!!! Note: if you want, once you get the trophy you can fight this boss on subsequent playthroughs to see what you missed out on. Fairly easy battle.

B30) The Underdog - Win a duel after entering it with critical health.

Easiest way to do this, on level one get to the part with the arrows coming down from the sky. Kill all small solders, but do not move forward to the first tutorial duel. Stand there and let yourself get hit with arrows until your life bar is red. Then move forward and win the real easy duel and get the trophy. You don’t even have to finish the stage really…

B31) There's No Escape! - Kill a fleeing enemy by throwing a picked-up weapon.

See “Now that’s just mean” trophy requirements. This will pop on kill number 1.

B32) They See Me Rollin', They Hatin' - Perform a rolling Quick Attack on an enemy from behind.

Funny gansta title here…just roll near an enemy with their back to you and hit square. Trophy pops if you connect.

B33) This Is a Non-Smoking Section - Get 3 enemy zombies hit simultaneously by Lyssa's ground smoke attack.

On Ajax’s last stage where he goes all mental, defeat all the “men” at the end until you are fighting this tall black ghost looking monster with big nails. Let a bunch of the peons from behind her enter the stage and get about mid-filed. I corralled them the same I did with the Cyclops. Then go lay a combo down on the boss. She will jump away and retaliate with a huge wave of smoke. Just has to hit 3 units at once. The wave is so big, this is hard to miss actually. Really easy trophy to get.

B34) Time Extension! - Maintain your Kleos for 3 minutes during a chapter.

You need to not take damage and string together hits. I have not gotten this yet. Ajax’s last stage is a good candidate as the enemies right before the final boss spawn infinitely. He is juts hard to control without getting hit IMO. I have not seen any items that help keep your combo alive….yet.

B35) Too Fast to Furious - Completely fill the maximum fury meter in under 2 minutes without using items that generate fury.

I have not gotten this yet, but only because I have not bought enough fury items to max it out. Ajax’s final stage with the infinite spawning enemies would be prime for this.

B36) What a Waste... - Miss all of your attacks while in fury.

So easy, just hit circle when your fury gauge is full and hit….nothing. Do it in a corner somewhere and just wait.

B37) Where Is Your God Now? - Bring down the statue of Apollo.

Story related, cannot miss.

B38) Zombie Homicider - Perform a Finisher on an enemy zombie.

On any stage with zombies or plague victims, just ensure you use any triangle finisher once on a single unit. This should be no problem and will happen without you trying for it really. There are a lot of zombies…

Silvers:

S1) A Lot of Time on Your Hands - Complete all secondary objectives on any difficulty.

Most objectives are very easy. Only the timed ones and the “keep x unit alive and above X% health” are any trouble. Ajax’s first one on his final stage is a tad rough. You need to run through a bunch of mobs without taking any damage at all. Roll….a lot. To find most sub objectives, just run around the map where the primary objectives are not. I found them all with ease. Play on easy if you are having trouble. Just keep getting all of them on each stage, and this will unlock after stage 21.

S2) A Perfect Amount of Blood - Kill 496 enemies while in Fury.

Cumulative, probably happen before the final stage if you have been doing sub quests the whole time.

S3) Are You Tough Enough? - Complete a chapter without equipping any items on Hard or Expert difficulty.

Play stage 1…on hard….with no items…. Not very hard at all. Just watch the special enemy fights is all. Block and roll baby!!!!

S4) Epic Success - Complete the Epic Arena, Epic Rampage and Epic Bloodlust challenges.

All 3 are advanced versions of challenges. These will unlock if you play through the story missions. I have not tried for these yet…

S5) Face That Launched 1000 Ships - Unlock all of Helen's concept art.

After beating the game, I only have 1 of her art concepts. I do not know how many there are or how to get them yet.

S6) Farewell, Troy... - Complete the game on any difficulty.

Story related, cannot miss. Happens after level 21.

S7) It's over 9000!!! - What! 9000 ? There's no way that can be right! Can it?

I think this is a Dragonball Z reference. So cool. Cumulative, should happen over time. I got it fighting the infinite enemies on Ajax’s final stage during story play without any farming.

S8) Life is a Blessing - Collect all Blessings in a chapter.

Play level one. I think there are only 4 blessings. One by the beginning behind you by the water (I think), one in a alcove to the right when the arrows start to fall from above, one on the river to the left before the slasher fight (I think), and the final one is in the far corner by the 3 launchers by the farthest one. Go around the big rock and DO NOT approach the guardian until you get this. Trophy pops immediately upon getting the last one.

S9) That Wasn't Too Hard... - Complete the game on Hard or Expert difficulty.

Play a story on hard. Have not confirmed if this will pop if you only beat it on expert yet.

S10) Without a Scratch - Complete a chapter without being damaged on Hard or Expert difficulty.

After beating the game, I loaded up level 2 with Odysseus with max attack stats. I just hang back and spamed his triangle knife throw. For archers, just block and roll towards them slowly. If you get close enough they will put their bows away, or your solders will fight them. Let your AI friends do as much work as possible and watch out for stray arrows. Was a pretty easy trophy actually.

Golds:

G1) I'm Really Good at Action Games. - Complete the game on Expert difficulty.

Beat story mode on extreme. To unlock extreme, beat the game on any difficulty.

G2) Items Make Games Awesome - Buy all of the items.

2 play throughs should net plenty of cash for this but may require some farming. I do not have this yet. This may easily be the hardest trophy as the requirements for the 3rd unique items are pretty tough. And that is to just unlock them, then you still have to buy them for who knows how much money.

Platinum:

P1) Legendary Status - Earn all of the trophies

You know, just once I would like to see the platinum be some kind of action like “max all stats on all char” or something and not just the “get all others” that it always seems to be.

Gameplay:

GP1) Unique items

-To obtain unique item #1, get all secondary objectives on a stage.

-To obtain unique item #2, get all secondary objectives while playing on Expert difficulty.

-On stages that have a unique item #3, once you beat the game go to the shop and highlight any item that is listed as ????, and the game will tell you the conditions to unlock. Some of these look to be very intimidating. These may be the controller throwers. Exmaple - beat the last greek stage boss on Extreme while taking no damage. Yikes!

GP2) Difficulty

-to unlock Extreme, beat the game on any difficulty, even easy.

GP3) Kleos Framing

-Kill everything you see. Search around for blessings, as they refill your health and give you money. Land many perfect actions as they net you more kleos as well. difficulty is used to mulitply the final amounts so play on harder levels to make a lot more money. Ajax's final stage could be a great money maker as enemies infinetly sapwn here.

-Arenas look to be a good source of kleos supply

GP4) Cheats - earned for beating the game on a difficulty level. Can be found under Options in the main menu. Not sure if you beat it on hard that in unlocks the cheats under it or just the diffculty you played only. Needs tested.

-Easy gets you Super Strength, knocks enemies into the air with ease

-Normal...

-Hard...

-Extreme...

Thats all I got. I hope this helps anyone. I will update as I get the final trophies figured out, or we as a community do. If you copy any of this into a guide please just credit me as a source is all. Enjoy!!!!

Just read all your posts on Legends, Thanks Metal_Jaws

I agree, some of the unique items will be very very difficult. There are 6 unique items available in the 6 Challenge modes (3 normal and 3 Epic). I think the challenges are the real stumbling block because we'll have to beat Epic Challenge mode to get the items in order to purchase them to get the trophy.

Duel is a series of 15 1-on-1 or 1-on-2 battles where you must maintain minimum Kleos for 3 rounds, 5 sets each. I've only gotten to set 13 on normal, an easy way to gain 2000-4000 Kleos. This is we’re you’ll see the real differences between each character, I like Achilles or Ajax the Greater for this challenge.

In rampage you must maintain full Kleos, and not take one hit for 300 kills. It sounds easy, but no. About 250 kills is my max so far, easy 2000 Kleos. However, I don't know if there's more than 1 round. All the characters seem to play the same on this challenge.

Bloodlust features a full game map where you must replenish your rapidly draining Kleos for up to 400 kills. The challenge takes place on a full game map with a few Blessings to keep you going, so it’s a matter of planning a route. My max, about 200 kills is worth roughly 1000-2000 Kleos.

Rampage and Bloodlust display a gold seal before the challenge so I think they’re only 1 round. Duel mode displays a silver seal and is at least 3 rounds. I’ve been playing a lot of Challenge mode to boost my characters in the single player campaign by maximizing the item grid. Also, I unlocked the Underdog trophy in Duel mode, but nothing else has popped yet like Time Extension.

How many blessings are in each chapter? Funny that "Collect All Blessing" is not a trophy, maybe this is easy to Platinum?

Thank you. And thanks for the info. I am excited (and not) to give the challenges a go tonight. I can only imagine what the epic versions will be like. I have trouble playing on a long time with no hits, so that will be tough.

Blessings seem to differ on each stage. I scoured every map I played. Found around 3-6 per stage if I remeber correctly. Usually has to deal with the size of the map and how many roads and paths there are. It's hard to tell because you have to be so darn close to it for it to be visible. You could be right on top of one and still not see it. The upper stages all give around 150-300 per a pick up though. On some stages the locations can change depending on the events as well. On stage 21 there are kleos before you go up to the throne, but then they reappear throughtout the stage in different locations when you go to rescue your family. That was a lot....a lot a lot of running around.

Some trophies require you to play in a "chapter" setting to unlock. Time Extension is one of them. Good place to practice it in the arena though. I will need that.

I still think the 3rd unique item unlock conditions are the most fearsome looking for the plat killer...course depends on what the cheats are for beating the game on each of the settings. You may be able to use these to make up for some of the conditions you are dealt.

Seems like a fairly good guide. You should format it in the guide style and submit it. Don't have to have everything done to make the trophy guide. Just try and update the guide if other people figure things out that you haven't yet, or have additional tips. Also just come up with a roadmap of how you would think the fastest way of doing the game to get platinum.

@metal jaws

thanks for the description, some helped to add some content on my guide at x360a. in return i'd offer help for another trophy/achievement:

First you have to buy the two gems of Perseus which cost 4000 total. Next step use a hero you like a pratice his 6hit combo until you pull it off with timed attacks without much thinking. Now look for a large group of enemies preferably without shields as they delay the swings and messing up your memorized input. You have to kill at least one enemy with EACH attack. So if you miss to kill an enemy with one swing or get the timing wrong, repeat. I prefer the spot outside the town gates in chapter 5 Conquest with Achilles.

good luck with it :)

I got into the challenges today. Arena can be tough as there are several rounds where you fight mutiple generals at once. I think I made it to the final round, where 3 troy generals finally took me down. Paris shooting arrows while Achilles and a buddy attacking me....so not fair. I used Odysseus and spamed his knife throws, and his three hit knife throw perfect that goes through shields. Concentrate on winning life back and don't be afraid to change tactics as the bosses do that. Use the items that boost arena damage given and lessen damage taken to help.

I beat rampage. Was not very hard. Use the amazonian and spam square square square triangle attack where she goes running and swings her axe. Keeps you from harm and does great damage. I hid in the right corner from the start. Watch the brute that shows up later. The end of the match is when Achilles is spawned. Use fury and roll away before he attacks. You get a GREAT item, moderately raises all stats!!! I got to Achilles on the epic version already as well, but keep getting speared by grunts. So close...

Bloodlust I got about 3/4 of the way through, but i need better items to make this a possibility.

Thanks. I was hoping to do this, I just figured someone would beat me to the punch. I have not submitted a guide ever, but have read many. is there a FAQ on how or some guidelines that are supposed to be adhered to? Who do you send it to? What format is it suppsoed to be in? Where do you get the trophy icon images from?

Thanks. Could you describe your method with a little more detail please? DO you mean 6 hits that end in a perfect, 5 hits that end in a perfect for a total of six, or perfect ending combos of any length that happen 6 times in a row?

There's a 16th duel in the arena where you fight the 4 Greek heroes, Odysseus, Hektor, Ajax and another, I can't remember who but it was carnage I couldn't roll without being hit by knives nor block without being run over by Ajax (literally, lol!). The secondary objectives was a little misleading, lol.

From resposnes I have got on other websites, looks like the best thing to do is to play the story again and get the unique items. They help a lot!!! I am halfway through my second playthrough, and toally agree thus far.

I have a guide. Will be up in a minute....

We can save this thread for general discussions now, and put all game related help and info on the other. Or use this as a editing board so I can finish the guide in full.
