Looking for Japanese games that don't require knowing Japanese

Recommended Posts

Most JApanese games do unformtunatly with a few rare exception require Japanese. You need to a guide to understand the game or you are just randomly clicking on stuff till you figure out what happens. There are plenty of Japanese fighting games that do not reuquire much Japanese outside the menu but you basically just have to mash buttons without a guide to figure out the movies. There are some nice gundam games ect.. In a nut shell outside a story heavy RPG most Japanese can be played without knowing much Japanese you just will mash buttons or clicking on random buttons or menu options till you figure out what to do. Also you have to relise that if the game remains Japanese only there are chances even if you can play you probably wont like it outside anime games. So basically all games in a nutshell do require Japanese you just need to figure out the names of the games youtube them see if they are the game for you. Buy the game and mess with the menu and gameplay till you figure it out. RPGS and visual novel like games are in a nutshell almost impossible to play without guides because there primarily story focused. I meen there will be exceptions to every type of game out there but not matter what unless you know Japanese or have a guide telling you what to do even in fighting games or games that a non speaker of Japanese can play you still got fiddle around with the game till you start playing it.

There is no magical list of games that that can be played without knowing Japanese even with effort you can figure out a story heavy RPG and complete them if you just tried. IF you are into Japanese versions of western made games for trophies some times the full game is in English or as an option. Some times but rare the games will get released in the asian maket with full English.

I think most. if not all, visual novel games tend to be easy to beat and even platinum without any Japanese knowledge. You just won't be able to understand the story at all.

That only works if you have a guide. Otherwise you would be screwed if you don't know Japanese. Even with using the fast-forward feature, you would still need to know the choices you are making when you have to decide on something. But IA/VT Colorful would be a good game to get. Confirmed to not be localized but should be an easy to play game as far as people who don't know Japanese goes.

There's plenty of trophy guides for visual novels in here, so he can pick any of those and follow them.

The Hatsune Miku Project Diva F & F 2nd games are fairly easy to navigate even if you don't know Japanese.

Agreed, I loved both of those. Also the songs in F 2nd have an option to have the lyrics in English so you can understand the song. :)

It's not a rhythm game, but Persona 4 Golden is also a must. Such a fantastic game.
