Welcome to the text based guide for "Until Dawn". This guide will get you all the way through the game, helping you keep every one alive, everyone dead and also marks the location of every collectible in the game. In addition to this it also covers all 18 trophies (19 being the (P)) and in my opinion the fastest way to achieve all of these trophies in a headache free way. Note to exit the game and back up the save press the PS button and close application then you can just back up the game save as you normally would. Good luck guys and i hope this helps you all out. Prologue

Walk and you have motion control tutorial, (you can mess this up) game continues when you pass it.

Guidance Totem 1/6: This is automatically collected in a tutorial

MM clue Wanted Poster (1/32 ): Follow Chris around the side of the cable car cabin and it is on the wall.

 

NOTE: DO NOT SHOOT THE SQUIRREL DURING THE SHOOTING TUTORIAL

 

Complete the shooting tutorial. When the squirrel arrives shoot the bag, it is the target on the left.

Choice: Welcome

Move the binoculars to the left to see mike and Emily

NOTE: DO NOT THROW THE SNOW BALL AT THE BIRD

2.Jealousy

Choice: worry, Confident

Guidance Totem 2/6: Walk towards the screen and it is right on the ground

Choice: Agree, Agree

MM Clue Axe Holder (2/32): it is on the side of the cabin

Loss totem 1/6: Once you dropped into the room, walk forward and walk over towards the bike

MM Clue News Paper fragment (3/32): from the totem walk to the left side of the work bench into a small room. It is on the shelf

TT Clue Family Portrait (1/20): This is found when you exit the basement and walk along the small path on the wall

TT clue Prom Night Photo (2/20): on the banister past the stairs

MM clue answering machine (4/32) This is found in the dining room on the right hand side

TT Clue Beach Photo (3/20): this is found at the bottom of the stairs (one floor below the last) by the banister next to the door. Easily spotted.

TT clue Film Trophy (4/20)(not through): At the top of the stairs you went left past the white box covered in a sheet, the clue is found on the shelf to your right. (for it to count you have to turn it to look at the plaque on the side of it.

Choice: Warn, Back off

Danger totem 1/6: after you make the previous choice walk around the corner past the gate and it is on the ground on the left side of the open doorway.

Get ready to push the :triangle: button as you walk away from the cart down the hallway

Fortune totem 1/6: after the above event continue to follow the tracks (go right at the fork) and it is at the end of the tunnel a short ways off.

MM Clue cigar stub and Mystical symbol (5 & 6/32): From the last Totem walk back and to the left and at the top of the small stairs go right immediately and it is on top of the first barrel. Examine it then put it down. Walk to the wall and press :cross: to receive the Mystical Symbol

1952 Clue Mine Danger Map (1/27): after the beam falls down you will see a small storage area to the right of the path. It is on the table

Loss Totem 2/6: after you exit walk to the fence and turn left, it is visible and at the end of the path

Choice: Witty

MM Clue Postcard (7/32): exit the bathroom and go right through the small open doorway. In the bed room go right straight away and it is by the lamp

TT Clue tattoo Card &n Comparability Test(5 & 6/20): from the last one do a 180 and walk to the other side of the screen. It is on a small table slightly off screen. Now go around the bed and into the walk in closet. The comparability test is on the floor.

Choice: Moking,Reassuring,serious

Choice: After you turn on the boiler get ready to press :triangle:

MM Clue Pig Head Note (8/32): This is collected automatically just Make sure to turn the note after you grab if of the big head during the cutscene. Note: This is a DLC item, thus isn't required for the Platinum.

Danger Totem 2/6: after you jump of the log and walk past the car (go left) it is just up on the trail.

Guidance Totem 3/6: just after you made the last choice it is on the ground by the tree Throw snow ball

1952 Clue Old Mask (2/27): This is found in an old run down cabin in the back right corner.

Choice: when you pick up the old mask select SHOW

Timed Choice: Comfort

RUN::square:, Follow path, Help Jessica.

MM clue Native American book (9/32): After the cutscene that plays once you enter the cabin, walk past the fire place and towards the door. It is on a small table to the right of the door.

TT Clue Tennis Photo (7/20): after the cutscene when Jessica is talking about her lost phone walk towards the screen and around to the room at the back. The picture is on the table, look at the back of it.

TT Clue Hannah's Glasses Case (8/20): when you start as Ashley turn around and it is found on the night stand behind her (right side of banister at the end)

MM Clue Light From Below (10/32): At the bottom of the stairs hug the wall and follow it around a corner, this is found by opening the grate on the floor.

TT Clue Portrait Photo (9/20) & MM Clue threaten Letter (11/32): After you press the button on the book shelf, walk into the room and pick up the photo (portrait photo) look at it then turn it over (threatening letter)

Choice: Honest

MM Clue Native American Letter (12/32): You will walk through a door that opens by itself and travel down a small hallway towards a door, at the door turn left and it is found on the table.

4. Loyalty

Guidance Totem 4/6: after the running scene you will enter a building and take control. Go down the stairs and turn around it is found kinda behind the stairs

Death Totem 2/6 & MM Clue Pig's Head (13/12): After you get outside and follow the path ( go left at the fork not through the gap in the fence) a clown will pop up, check it then walk behind it and you will find this totem on the floor and also the pig's head(note it may apear that you have missed some but you have not)

Loss Totem 3/6: once you reach the building at the end of the path, instead of entering it go all the way round back (go right at the doors) and it will be on the ground.

Choice: Save Ashley, move leaver towards picture of Josh

 

Doctor's Office

Choice*: It's going fine, what do you want, Yes I will, your real

 

5. Dread

Fortune Totem 2/6: Walk towards the fountain and turn left and go right up to the gate. It is on the ground in front of the gate.

Enter the asylum via the grate left of the door down the stairs

Loss totem 4/6: once you enter the asylum via the grate go to your right and through the steel fence, turn left and it is below the open hole.

1952 Clue Administration Notes (3/27): Once you look through the locked door and observe the dogs ect, go back to the doors and turn left, the note is on the table.

1952 Clue Clocking-in cards (4/27): Turn left as soon as you pass through the admin door and pick up the piece of wood to open the safe, they are in the safe.

1952 Clue Broken Camera (5/27): From the last one walk back the way you came and around to the left, it is at the end of the room on a drum.

1952 Clue old news paper (6/27): once you go through the next door after the admin door, continue straight and turn into the next room you pass and it is at the end on the table

1952 Clue Medical Notes (7/27): Before you descend the stairs enter the room on your right and it is on the table.

1952 Clue Restraining Chair (8/27): Once you have gotten the machete and enter the room, walk towards the screen and into the next room, pull back the green curtain.

1952 Clue Telegram About miners (9/27): When you enter the room with the two windows continue to the right and when you see two doors, enter the smaller one on the right, it is at the far end on the table

Trophy “Scream Too”: walk over to the arm and click on it, a trap will go off and mike will have his fingers caught in a bear trap. Now cut of his fingers. The trophy will pop once you finish the chapter.

1952 Clue strange Skull, Death certificate & name tag (10, 11 & 12 /27): go past the moving arm/hand and into the next room, it is on the shelf to the right. Now do a 180 and cross the room, you will see three glinting lights on three morgue draws, open the one in the middle for the death certificate and the one on the right for the name tag

NOTE: ONCE YOU OPEN THE LOCKED CHAPEL DOOR DO NOT HIT THE WOLF, DO NOTHING WHEN THE PROMPT TO PUNCH APPEARS.

In this room you need to befriend the wolf. To do this, Do not hit the wolf, walk to the end of the room and open the box and grab a bone, walk back to the wolf and you will throw him the bone.

MM Clue Cigar Box & Clippings Wall (14 & 15/32: after you meet the dog walk forward and it is on the table in front of you, now turn right and walk through the gap in the steel fence, it is in front of you on the wall.

1952 Clue Mine Rescue Photo (13/27): Once you shoot the first lock of a gate you will enter a room with stairs leading down. Go around the banister to the right and it is at the back of the room

Death Totem 3/6: From the last collectable walk left and it is in the corner

Death Totem 4/6: once you walk down the snowy hill towards the cable car station, keep walking towards the back past the picnic tables to find this on the floor near the spilled paint

MM Clue Axe (16/32): Found on the side of the wall of the cable car station.

Choice: Smash Door

Choice: Agree

As you shimmy you need to press :square:

Guidance Totem 5/6: After Matt and Emily shimmy it is on the ground to the left

TT Clue Beth's Phone: After you walk across the wooden walkway attached to the side of the mountain, go left at the fork and through the wooden hut, you will hit a creaky floor board and prompted to press :cross:

Fortune Totem 3/6: From the last collectable go back and head towards the trees, it is at the base of the tree that is closest to the screen on the left.

Timed Choice: throw vase (This Will also pop the trophy “The Psycho Path” at the end of the chapter)

Running: Jump, :triangle:, run, pull

Timed Choice: hide, :triangle: (followed by a Don't move)

6.Psychosis

Do not attack the deer

Guidance Totem: after the security light shines down on you, look at the picnic table and it is on the ground by the base of it

TT Clue Hannah & Beth's Poster's (11 & 12/20): when you enter the top of the radio tower open the locker for Hannah's poster, then walk out the door flick on the fuses inside the fuse box ( while out side go around the back and collect the flare gun and select the Choice to give. Now go back inside and press the button on the printer for Beth's poster.

Choice: Emily, Inform,

Press TRIANGLE

Choice: Supportive, Concerned

Timed Choice: Save Emily then Jump to safety

MM Clue Business Card (17/32): After you take control of Ashley do a 180 and walk across the room and into the next. The card is on the small table by the front door

Choice: insist

MM Clue Light Bulb Catalogue and Hidden camera (18 & 19/32: after Chris gets trapped behind the door and Ashley makes it through, turn to the right and it is on the desk. Now turn 90 degrees right and walk forward. The camera is between some boxes.

Choice: sympathetic

MM Clue Fake Newspapers (20/32): after you enter the “other hotel” through a hole in the wall walk to the end of the hallways and when you see the large opening on the right hand side, go in and look on the floor in the top right hand corner

Choice: courageous

MM Clue Batteries and Timers (21/32): after you get down the stairs, walk along the hallway and enter the first room then back towards the screen

MM Clue hooks and chains, Dead Pig & Photo of Friends(22,23 & 24/32): when you enter the “Bloody kitchen” look at the wall to your left. Now turn 180 degree's and walk into the kitchen to see the pig hanging from a hook. From the pig on the hook walk out of the kitchen alcove and walk around towards the back and the pictures are on the wall

Timed Choice: Follow Chris

Choice: Shoot Chris

 

7.Violence

MM Clue Death Machine Plans(25/32): after you kick out the grate turn around and look at the poster on the wall, you need to lift it up.

MM Clue Psychiatric Report and Josh's Cell Phone (26 & 27/32): same room as the last one, just open the desk draw. Now turn around 180 degrees and check the shelf, you need to scroll down once you unlock the phone for the clue to count

MM Clue Remembrance board (28/32): From the last clue walk around the shelf, you will see some boxes on the table, just move them aside.

MM Clue Voice Recordings (29/32): once you reach the small set of stairs, instead of walking up them walk past them and the recording is on the table

MM Clue Video Camera and Dummy in Sam's Cloths (30 and 31/32): walk up the stirs and go right at the end of the corridor. Enter the green doors on your right and it is at the end of the room on the Right, the dummy is on the seat.

Trophy "You opened their Eyes" should pop now

Choice: Shocked

NOTE: After you make the choice, later on in the game he will say Jessica is dead. This is not true.

1952 Clue Miner Photo (14/27): When you reach the mine carts look to the left of them and open the green chest

1952 Clue Clocking in Machine (15/27): after you release the mine cart and go through the whole on the wall, it is on the wall to the left of the elevator

Death Totem 5/6: Walk past the later and follow the tracks. It is at the end on the ground

1952 Clue Miners Family Photo (16/27): After you break down the wooden wall, walk to the right and into the dark alcove, it is in the toolbox on top of the drum

Choice: climb, :circle:, :square:, reach up, :triangle:, :circle:, :square:

Danger Totem 3/6: after you flick the switch and walk down some stairs, walk away from the screen

and it is in the top left corner on the floor

TT Clue Tattoo Photo, Hannah's Glasses and Marks on a Rock (13,14 & 15/20): after you find and fail to climb the icy wall, you will see a drum close to the screen, it is on top of the drum. Now turn around 180 degrees and walk away from the screen and the glasses are on the ground. Finally walk to your left and press :cross: when prompted at the corner.

TT Clue Beth's Cross (16/32): From the last clue walk forward and turn right into the dark alcove. It is lying on the floor

TT Clue Hannah's Locket (17/20): Go past the crooked gate on your right to the end and find it on top of the drum. Note you will need to make it open to have the clue count.

TT Clue Beth's Head (18/20): go through the crooked gate and continue forward. It is on the ground

At the top of the elevator DON'T MOVE

1952 Clue Romantic Postcard (17/27): after you light the flare walk towards the screen and enter the small space on the right. It is on the table

Fortune Totem 4/6: after you drop down and walk past the mine cart you will see it on your right

Danger Totem 4/6: after you pass through the steel fence gate (the top gate not the middle) on the left side of the room, turn to your left before you go through the hole in the wall to the outside

1952 Clue Makeshift Graveyard (23/27): this is found outside once you pass through the hole in the wall you saw at the last collectable

1952 Clue Doctor's Report (24/27): after you squeeze through the gap and go down the stairs walk into the room on your left and check the type writer

1952 Clue Old Film reel (25/27): when you reach the hallway that you walk towards the screen, enter the first room on your right and activate the projector

1952 Clue Case Study Dossier (26/27): In the same hallway as the last collectable walk forward a little more and enter the room on the left

1952 Clue Suicide Note: From the last collectable kick down the wooden wall in the back of the room, then shoot out the lock. The final 1952 clue is found on the corps

Trophy "The Fateful Descent" will pop

Shoot the monster, go left then block the door, :circle:

Fortune Totem 5/6: as you approach the water check just to the right by the wall

TT Clue Beth's watch (19/20): instead of entering the water go all the way to the left and it is in the open grave

TT Clue Scrawled Journal (20/20): When you enter the water with Mike stick to the left hand side and you can exit just in front of the water wheel. It is right in front o you on the ground

Trophy “The Tale Of the Two Sister's

Fortune Totem 6/6: as soon as you control Josh go left at the fork and find it at the end of the path

Press TRIANGLE as soon as you light the lamp

Choice: Inform

Loss Totem 6/6: When you reach the tracks, walk towards the screen and it is at the end

Choice: Hide, DON'T MOVE, :square:, Hide together, DON'T MOVE

BACKUP SAVE.

The game needs to be finished a minimum of three times for all the trophies relating to different events at the end of the game. By backing up the save at this point we can avoid one entire replay of chapter 10 and instead just replay the last 5 minutes.

 

Choice: Lock the door

Choice: DON'T MOVE, DON'T MOVE, save mike, DON’T MOVE, hide, DON'T MOVE, hide, DON'T MOVE

Congratulation you saved them all and got all the collectibles

Trophy "They All Live", "Don't Scare Jessica", "The Quicker Man", “Four Daughters of Darkness”

 

Restore save (this saves you replaying the entire 10th chapter)

play the game, lock the door, and as soon as you get the option to flick the switch the first time do it. I believe it goes, DON'T MOVE, DON'T MOVE, run to switch.

NOTE: WAIT TILL THE CREDITS FINISH SO WE CAN UNLOCK EPISODES

Trophy “Instant Inferno”

 

Now for the last three Trophies we need to unfortunately replay the game from chapter 6 but as we are trying to kill everyone we can just breeze through it so from the main menu select episodes and select 6.Psychosis as the starting point. After completing this part you will obtain the following:

Trophy “Fatal Grudge”, Ashley Snaps”, "You Let The Wrong One In", "The Exorcism of Emily" and “This is the end” and “A symphony of Horror

 

NOTE: ONCE YOU START THIS PART OF THE GUIDE IT IS ADVISABLE TO DO IT IN A SINGLE RUN AS EXITING CAN CAUSE THE NEW GAME DATA NOT TO SAVE CORRECTLY. ALSO YOU MUST PLAY THROUGH EPISODE 7 EVEN THOUGH YOU KILL NO ONE.

 

6.Psychosis

Matt's Death

Choice: Rebuke

Attack the animal

Do not participate in the QTE, this results in his death

 

Chris Death Pt1

In chapter 6 Psychosis choose to shoot Ashley as soon as you have Control of the gun for the

Trophy “Fatal Grudge”

 

7.Violence

Just complete the chapter

 

8.Revelation

Chris Death pt 2

In chapter 8 Revelation as you run back to the lodge shoot the Wendigo every opportunity you get. When you reach the lodge Ashley will not let you in and the Wendigo kills you. NOTE: This a required PART for the Trophy “Ashley Snaps”

 

Emily death

When you are in the mines make sure you complete the QTE and escape. You can die here but we want to survive. Now once you are in the house with the bite (she will get bitten at the end of the chase) have mike shoot her. This a required PART for the Trophy “Ashley Snaps” (Once Emily is has been shot and you read the book, all 5 pages, choose to be honest and once Sam reads the book it will pop.

 

9.Karma

Ashley's Death

when you get into the sewer Choose to investigate the noise then walk through the narrow corridor and open the trap door and the Trophy “You Let The Wrong One In” will pop at the end of the chapter

 

10.Resolution

Josh's death

when you enter the water as Mike and Sam do not go to the left and pick up the diary. Continue forward instead and when you swap to Mike and Josh, he will die in the water

 

Jessica's Death

when you have to choose weather to run or to hide, choose the option to run and it will result in her death

 

Sam's Death

when you are at the end of the game fail the Don't move sections and she dies

 

Mike's Death

After Sam is dead he lights his lighter and kills himself.

Trophy “This is The End” “A symphony of Horror

Nice summary. Does this steps get Jessica to strip down to her undies?

 

What is related to this btw ? How much she likes Mike ? She didnt strip down to her undies on my video, but being completly honest she should totaly freeeze to death if shes in her undies but hey, the characters in this game dont seen to be bothered by the cold at all.

Yes, the nicer you are to her, the more she strips. If you jump down immediately after her, when she falls in the mine, don't scare her with the mask, don't point the rifle at her, etc. then she will immediately strip.

It might be a good idea to add "No, I wouldn't" between peaceful and lonely.

Because the doctor asks something about spending a week by yourself. Gives choice "yes, i would" or "No, I wouldn't". The wouldn't choice leads to the lonely choice.

For the last part of chapter 5, you mention we need to reload the save. Why? I'm confused by this as I already earned the Scream Too and Psychopath trophy.

 

NOTE: I have fixed up the end of chapter 5. it no longer contains the line telling you to reload your save

It was originally ment to get the scream too trophy and then reload to avoid the trap. After testing it without the reload and getting the trophy on the first playthrough i roved a lot of thr text relating. Ill look at it and edit today.

There's really no need to re-load to avoid the trap. It doesn't really affect anything in the game other than a few lines of dialogue here and there. Mike may have lost his fingers, but he doesn't do anything any differently after the fact.

 

Hey there OP, you're missing MM Clue 32 for the DLC at the end of chapter two. It's a cigar to the left at the opening of Matt's chap.

 

That's part of the pre-order bonus, and is not needed for the Plat, and not everyone will have that scene.

Hey there OP, you're missing MM Clue 32 for the DLC at the end of chapter two. It's a cigar to the left at the opening of Matt's chap.

 

The dlc items is not required for platinum so dosn't need to be mentioned.

 

As for the guide it's good but i have a few issues;

 

When you meet up with josh while playing as sam in the basement there was no option to select "serious" I'm curious as if it will effect the story in anyway, also is the twins supposed to die no matter what? I'm assuming it's part of the story.

 

Also there are other actions that are not covered in this guide like when sam is asked by josh to hold the torch and keep the controller steady i failed and panicked and quit the game as i didn't know what will change if i continued, can anyone clarify if these additional interactions have any effect on the story progress?

 

NOTE: I have fixed up the end of chapter 5. it no longer contains the line telling you to reload your save

It was originally ment to get the scream too trophy and then reload to avoid the trap. After testing it without the reload and getting the trophy on the first playthrough i roved a lot of thr text relating. Ill look at it and edit today.

 

So can you still get the scream too trophy without reloading following your guide or does it require a new playthrough?
