Overview

+ Estimated trophy difficulty: 6.85/10

+ Offline: 12 (10(G) + 2(B))

+ Online: 3 (2(S) + 1(B))

+ Total: 16 (1(P) + 10(G) + 2(S) + 3(B))

+ Approximate time: 10-20 hours (depends on your skill)

+ Minimum number of play-through's needed: 1

+ Missable trophies: "Survivalist" and "Capitalism"

+ Does difficulty effect trophies: You have to play on Hard difficulty to get "Hardcore".

+ Glitched: "Survivalist", "Lightning Offense" and "Step Aside". Only known solution is to re-install and do it again.

+ Cheats: None

You can play with either a single SIXAXIS OR a Motion controller paired with a Navi/SIXAXIS. I personally feel the SIXAXIS handled better, but whatever works for you. The controller mappings are the same for the most part (and explained via tutorial when you start the campaign), except that with the Move Motion controller you physically point to navigate the map and rotate the wand to rotate the map, while on a SIXAXIS you use :ls: to navigate around the map and :rs: to rotate the map.

Step 1: Complete the campaign on Hard

To unlock the Hardcore trophy, you need to complete the game on Hard difficulty. The game is tough regardless of the selected difficulty. Read the strategy laid out in Hardcore and Chapters 1-5.

In order to unlock Survivalist, you can't have any units die for an entire chapter (it varies from around 3 to 6 maps per chapter). If one does, quickly QUIT via XMB, and select campaign>continue.

I suggest one playthru on hard difficulty, without dying on chapter 3. If you find it too difficult to go for both Hardcore and Survivalist on one play-thru, complete the game on Hard first, and then repeat chapters on Easy to get Survivalist.

To get Capitalism, you have a few options, refer to that trophy in the guide.

You will get Boot Camp early in the campaign, and Chapters 1-5 as you complete them. You will easily accumulate enough kills/heals for Blood lust and Field Medic during your campaign.

Step 2: Create & Online

Now that you are familiar with the game, we can Create and play Online with ease. If you followed the suggestions in step 1, you will also get (P) at the end of this step.

Create a quick map for Crafty. You can just hit save straight away!

There are three online trophies: Brothers in Arms, Step Aside and Lightning Offense. See the trophy guide.

Simply start a campaign on any difficulty and follow the directions. You can't fail here.

[spoiler=chapter1]After the tutorial, there are 5 more maps on this chapter:

1. Enemy Attacks

2. Down the Mountain (rescue archers)

3. An Old Friend (rescue gunner)

4. Outpost

Once you rescue the archers in map#2, use the set of archers from now on + as many soldiers as the spawn allows.

When playing the fourth non-tutorial map (4. Outpost), you will have 5 spawn spots. One option is a gunner, but you might want to try another unit, or only using 4 spots. After the first big fight, go up and dispose of a few foot soldiers and archers. Have your own archers go where the enemies where, and once there, have them target the three rock walls below the serpents; then back away with only one or two arrows hitting the serpents. With any luck they will take out the enemy gunner.

5. Siege

I suggest starting the battle with 2 archers, a soldier and a gunner.

There is a path with a hill that 98% of the enemies will walk up. Place your gunner on the fort above the path so he can target the center of the bottleneck. Make sure the gunner is not directly on the edge, but a bit away, so the poison throwers can't target him. Have the archers and soldiers stand midway on the hill (far enough so they don't get hurt by the gunner). If the soldier is lvl 3 or higher, be sure to hit :circle: to activate the shield. The soldiers job is to :triangle: taunt the enemies, making sure none of them get to the gunner (he dies fast). The two archers should :triangle: heal each other (each archer group doesn't heal itself).

With this setup, you will find these waves rather simple. On the second half of the battle (when you have 5 spawn spots) Recruit&Upgrade so that you have 2 maxed Soldiers, and make sure both Archers are level 3 or above. Use the same setup described before, now with 2 Soldier groups.

Eventually you will only have two Metal Golems left. Move the Gunner a bit so he stops shooting, in order to let the Archers pass safely. If they are level 3 or above, :circle: fire flame arrows with both groups, back up a bit, shooting arrows till you can repeat.

BOSS Giant Metal Golem (the boss's HP bar is a giant green bar on top of the screen).

For the Giant Metal Golem, sic the 2 maxed soldiers on him (toggle :circle: off their shields so they move faster). He doesn't hit them, for some reason he chases the archers instead. Have the archers run around in a giant circle while the soldiers clobber him. Half way thru, throw the soldiers on the new spawn (or just the poison vomiters) for a minute, then return to the same boss strategy.

6. Swamp

7. Save the Village

8. Kohuhu Escort

Continue using 2 Archers and as many Soldiers as you can. Ignore the new choices.

9. The Wyvern Queen

I suggest you pick 2 Archers, 2 Soldiers and pick from an additional Archer/Soldier or Gunner. There are 13 enemies you should have no trouble with, followed by the boss battle.

BOSS Bride of Jar Jar Binks: You want to have the Archers/Gunner targeting the boss always, and the Soldiers taunting and killing whatever comes your way. Be sure the archers heal and fire flame arrows.

Story Related.[spoiler=chapter3]There are 4 maps in this chapter:

10. Meet the King

Use Archers and Soldiers (like in previous chapters)

11. Brother Protection

12. Deep in the Forest (I used 2 Wari Shamans, 2 Wari Warriors and 2 Soldiers)

13. Road to the Desert

At this point, and for the rest of the game, your best bet is 2 maxed Wari Shamans and as many maxed Wari Warriors as the spawn allows. See Hardcore for tips on control.

BOSS Dragon: When you see the dragon, lure the White Pandas around the bend with the Warriors and kill them before taking on the lonely dragon. (Ignore the Panda on top of the hills.) Send the Warriors directly to the dragon for a head on head confrontation! Place the 2 Shamans a bit to the side, so they are close enough to heal but out of the fire.

I got Survivalist here on Hard using the above strategy, so try it.

Complete Chapter 4

Story Related.[spoiler=chapter4]There are 4 maps in this chapter:

14. A Mysterious Encounter

15. Escort Anata

16. Desert Mayhem

17. Protect the palace

Continue using 2 Shamans and all Warriors. Just move slow and take on one group of enemies at a time. When you are attacked by the lava lizards, quickly have the shaman :circle: protect, charge them with your Warriors, :triangle: stun them when close enough and kill them; after the lizards die quickly stack your troops again and manually :triangle: heal with the shamans.

On the stage where you need to be at two places at once, just leave the Shifter at the first one you visit. Make sure to remove the straggler from any hot keys you will be using with your main group, and then to go to the second place with just the Wari clan.

BOSS Worm: You are supposed to avoid when he charges, then hit him hard. You can just use the same head on strategy with nearby Shamans.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/758/06.jpg Chapter 5 (G)

Complete Chapter 5

Story Related.[spoiler=chapter5]Continue using 2 Shamans and as many maxed Warriors as you can.

There are 3 maps in this chapter:

18. Ruins Entrance

19. Mech Control

The second map of this section (19. Mech Control) is filled with peril, so go extra slow, and micro-manage your troops. This level is mainly linear, but not simple to find the proper points. When you get to the spot early on that adds a display to the bottom of your screen saying "ARENA 1-4", keep going straight. You will see a spot to the right with a flame trap, walk just past it into a corner, that is one disarm spot that's hard to spot. Instead of going past the flame trap just mentioned (to the right), go to the left. Follow the linear path thru a wall, and in middle of nowhere it will say it is disarming arena 3. Go back past the flame trap for the other arena switches. After you disarmed all four arena's, go back close to where arena 3 was and continue for a very long dangerous haul. There are several bunches of treasure chests hidden way down the line.

At some point you will see a "small" Metal Golem; before you get close enough to alert it, look to the left of the path for another small treasure room - this is a great place to stack your troops, send one troop out to lure the enemies, and run back for an ambush. With any luck, the poison thrower will get stuck behind the door while you take down the Metal Golem.

20. Final Boss

BOSS Albino General: Have one of the shamans :circle: protect, and have your 6 maxed Warriors :circle: rage, and send the robot to the scrapyard. The robot will tickle you while you destroy him. Repeat on the second robot. Repeat on the Albino. Repeat on the Albino. Repeat on the Albino. Oh, yeah, and heal a bit in between each Albino run. The side-spawns along the way will be squashed by your Warriors as well.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/758/16.jpg Hardcore (G)

Complete the game in the Hard difficulty setting

Start a campaign on Hard difficulty, and complete it. The game is very hard.

A good general strategy is:[spoiler=hardcore]Take it slow, fools rush in.

Every unit starts with one :triangle: ability. When the unit hits level 3, it will also have a second :circle: ability. Get to know your units special abilities, and take full advantage of them. Sometimes this means proper timing (such as the soldiers taunt). Be sure to rotate through active units regularly, applying them as appropriate.

Use 2 archers (can heal each other and rest of party) and 2 soldiers for the initial portion of the game.

  • I did it this way and strongly suggest it. The Wari Warriors and Wari Shamans are unbalanced, so all you need to do is get yourself 2 maxed Shamans and the rest you fill up with Wari Warriors. If you have at least 3 Warriors you can endlessly stun your enemies, since your first stun will always be off cooldown when your third stun runs out. Keep your entire battle team stacked so the enemies have to group around you, :circle: stun everybody nonstop while inching your way to victory. Any ranged damage you might be taking, gets completely healed in seconds by the Shamans, so long as the Shamans don't target an enemy. If things start getting out of hand, also use the shamans :triangle: heal followed by :circle: protect and then :circle: enrage your warriors.
(Credit to Bahamut for these selections)
  • Continue using 2 Archers and Soldier(s) till chapter 4. Then Wari Shamans (auto-heals nearby units) and up to 3 Wari Warriors (very strong and lots of HP). Add the 2 Archers back when you have 6 or more spawn spots. At the end you should have a party of 3 Wari Warriors, 2 Wari Shamans and 2 Archers.
(Credit to BKFF for these selections)

Being able to quickly select the proper unit on the battlefield is important, even early on, so start to hot key right away. I suggest having one hot key for all attackers and one for all healers. If you have a Gunner set a hotkey for him, otherwise use the last two hot keys to break down the attackers for stacking. Here is an example of hot keys I suggest:

:r3: All units (this is built into the game, use it sparingly)

:left: All Soldiers/Warriors (used to send all attackers on enemies)

 2 Archers/Shamans (used for stacking and manual healing, also include Mist Shifter)

:right: half the Warriors (used for stacking, early on use for Gunner instead)

 other half of Warriors (used for stacking)

That's three hot keys for stacking. It is important for most of the game, and in Chapters 4+5 this micro-management becomes essential.

Get as much gold as you can by exploring, collecting treasure chests and killing enemies. Some rescued units join you, saving you from recruiting them. Some allies offer rewards for assistance. Use the gold to upgrade the units mentioned earlier.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/758/07.jpg Survivalist (G)

Complete a chapter without losing a single unit

You can't have any units die. That means if you have a group of three archers, if even a single unit of the group dies, you won't unlock this. NOTE: It doesn't matter if friendly units die (the units with a white health bar), only units you actually control (blue bar). If a group joins you mid-battle, the only thing that matters is from that point onward (which happens after some dialogue).

Chapters 1 and 2 are the hardest, so I strongly suggest doing this on Chapter 3. Have the archers/shamans heal each other (and whatever else you have on your team). Take your time, don't rush in, and you'll be OK. See the tips posted in Hardcore and Chapter 3.

Clicking restart at the end of the map will NOT work. If a unit you control dies, QUIT via XMB, and select campaign>continue when starting back up. (credit to Bahamut for trying this and confirming it works)

WARNING: Some people had this glitch on them. The only known solution is to re-install and do it again.

(credit to Nothingface17 for posting the solution)

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/758/10.jpg Capitalism (H) (G)

Accumulate 5000 gold

You will likely get this by simply playing thru the campaign. You earn gold as you kill enemies, and find treasure chests. Thou there is a hefty "upkeep" cost at the end of each map, you will find 5,000 easy to hit while within some maps.

Option 1: Save up gold when you start Chapter 1, only replacing the one archer that is killed before the rest of that group join you. Explore and get all chests, kill all enemies. Scrounge and you should have enough before the end of this chapter.

Option 2: On the 2nd map in chapter 3 (12. Deep in the Forest - where you are asked to collect treasure), I personally collected 5915 gold. That's not including the gold I started with, and I likely missed some treasure and enemies too.

Option 3: On the 2nd map in Chapter 5 (19. Mech Control), I personally collected 10345 gold. That's not including the gold I started with, and I likely missed some treasure and enemies too. See Chapter 5 for some info on treasure chests.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/758/11.jpg Field Medic (H) (G)

Heal a total of 20000 hit points

You should get this easily while playing thru the campaign. A good strategy in general is to have two groups of archers/shamans that heal each other, and that will build this number up fast too.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/758/09.jpg Bloodlust (G)

Kill 1000 enemies

You should get this easily while playing thru the campaign. You should be trying to kill as many enemies as possible anyhow, to increase both rank and gold.

Create a map

From the main menu, click Editor and select New Map. You can just hit save straight away and unlock this.

Win an online match with a friend

Go to Multiplayer, and create a Custom Match. Change the map to co-op, and pick any of the chapter bosses. :triangle: Invite a friend, and beat the boss. If you beat the game already, this will be a breeze. Find a friend in the boosting thread!

I suggest picking boss 3, change the settings to maximum gold. Follow the advice in Chapter 3.

(Thanks to Metapower for suggesting boss 3)

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/758/14.jpg Step Aside (S)

Win 5 ranked matches in a row

To make this quick, just repeat the steps in Lightning Offense five times.

Despite the trophy claiming it needs to be 5-in-a-row, it unlocked for many when they had 5 wins that were NOT in a row. This may have been fixed in patch 1.02.

WARNING: Some people had this glitch on them. The only known solution is to delete your save data and do it again.

Finally got it with help from MerioMerio. I think what triggered it was that we both did not have any save-data. Earlier I deleted my save-data and then manually recreated it (by making a change to the controls or my profile and then saving those changes). If you don't manually recreate it and go straight online (not playing story-mode) the game will not make new save-data for you (and that's what you need). I'm not sure if both players should have no save-data though. Me and my boosting partner both didn't have any and I got the trophy after the first 5 games I played with him.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/758/15.jpg Lightning Offense (S)

Win a ranked match in less than 5 minutes

The quickest way to do this is to select the Deathmatch map (pick best of 3 and win 2).

The matchmaking system is rather stubborn, and it is often difficult to get paired with a boosting partner. I found myself constantly in someone else's room, so I text chat in the room (box on right side), and found he also can't get his boosting partner in a room. We ended up doing a 4-person boost on the fly!

Custom matches do not count... (thou one in five matches he tried actually counted)

(credit to Bahamut for testing custom matches)

If you are boosting, have the person helping you pick a lvl 3 gunner (bomber) and press :circle: till he commits suicide.

(Credit to Bahamut for gunner trick)

WARNING: Some people had this glitch on them. The only known solution is to re-install and do it again.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/758/01.jpg Master Strategist (P)

Gain all trophies

Get all the other trophies to unlock this. It's been a rough battle, cheers! :drunk:

Closing Notes

MUCH thanks to Bahamut for the amazing Wari strategy that owns the game, testing/confirming the Survivalist XMB Quit trick, the gunner suicide idea for online boosting, and testing custom matches for boosting.

Thanks to both Sajiko and BKFF for the initial ideas of units to pick & basic boss strategies (and for being great boosting partners). Thanks to Nothingface17 for posting the re-install solution for glitched trophies.

Trophy Guide and Road Map is now complete! Open to suggestions, feedback, comments, etc. Thank you for reading and I hope you have fun getting your (P)

Great guide man

Let me just say that the fastest way to get Lightning Ofense, or to purposefully loose/win whatever ranked match youre playing is to have 1 of the sides beggin the game with a Lv 3 Gunner and them use the circle skill of said gunner to kill itself. It takes less tham 10 seconds to win/loose like this (20 seconds total per deathmatch since you need to win 2 rounds)..

Thanks for the credit

I was just reading your guide, I tested trying to get the 5 straight win trophy via custom match it didnt work, it did however count 1 of my 5 custom games as a ranked match for whatever reason. I know that for a fact cause I got the Lightning Ofense trophy on that particular match and when I played actual ranked matchs I only needed to win 4 to get the 5 win streak trophy.

I have absolutely no idea why that particular match counted as ranked and none of the other 4 I played on custom game did, but maybe theres a glitch there somewhere, if anyone manages to discover it itd make boosting this that much easier (finding your boosting partner is curently hell on Earth).

Edit: Im not sure if Capitalist is cumulative, I think you need 5k gold with you at any one point, I might be wrong tough but if I remeber correctly it popped for me on the level before chapter 2 boss and it was right after I killed someone and got 5100 gold total. Dont take this for a fact tough, I might not be remembering things correctly and I wasnt realy paing attention nor have I tested this in anywhay (or can test it now).

Thanks for testing the custom matches. Considering that 4/5 of the matches didn't count, I agree it must have been a glitch to count 1 of them.

For Capitalism, I got it during chapter 1 and I thought I had over 5k at that moment too (I was going for the trophy). On another thread here, some people posted that they got it cumulatively, but I suspect they just didn't keep track (maybe they are thrown off by the upkeep reduction after a battle). Both updated, thanks again!

For the Final Boss the best strategy is having 2 monkey warriors full upgraded, 2 archers full upgraded and 2 red mages ( 2 or 3 upgrades for each ). At the start of the level destroy the giant metal in the left side and then the other. Be careful attacking the giant metal because other enemies can spawn behind you so after you kill something in your back just kill the giant metal. Now the easy part, the boss isn't that hard like it sounds. When you deactivated the temples the first met with the boss definitely run, then the boss will teleport to other side of the map, again before attacking kill the enemies that are in the area. The boss is waiting you so he will not attack until you approach so enrage you two monkey warrior ( triangle ) and attack with the archers and red mages, when the monkeys hit the boss quickly use the red mage shield ( triangle ) and some of the boss's magic bolt will be reflected, and thanks to the shield the boss take less to teleport to the other side. If some red mage died don't restart you can do very well just with one mage just repeat the process and you win.

This was tested for me in hard mode.

For the Final Boss the best strategy is...

Best? As in you tried both and found yours easier somehow, or "best" as in you finally managed to beat it and that was your method? Because the method I posted was done on hard, with no units lost, and was a breeze. It was so smooth that I didn't realize the metal golems had a spawn with them till I read your post - and that is all on my first and last attempt on the boss. Try my method before you knock it.

I know the images aren't loaded on this site yet, but please update this to use the default locked images instead of linking to ones from another site.

If you could also submit the ones on your profile to us that would be fantastic. :)

Done and done!

PS: Considering the (P), this title should be moved to the "retail" section...

Got platinum today. I would never figure out those arenas in 5-2 without this guide, thanks ;)

Your welcome and congrats on your (P).

Most of this game was self-intuitive as far as where to go, but it felt like 5-2 was very much rushed out the door without the proper clues.

Another minor part of the game I felt lacked direction, was on one of the maps in chapter 4 (4-2 perhaps, it's where you see the Robot Knights of the Round Table and flood the land). You can find a few hidden chests a bit close the Metal Golems, but one of them is on an inaccessible ledge. Then the next stage they teach you about teleportation. DOH! :o It's just one stupid chest thou.

What's your overall opinion on the game OP? I was waiting for the game for a while and I don't mind all the 7s and 8s it got but I just wanna know your personal opinion on it before I buy it.

I loved the game and have no regrets buying it.

With that said, there are a few things worth mentioning:

1) The game is pretty unforgiving. Mess up even slightly, and you are screwed in most cases. By screwed I just mean you have to restart that map. ;)

2) If you are expecting the depth of Command & Conquer or Civilization, this doesn't have it. This is an simple indie version made by a new developer. The only real upgrades you have for your units are to give them more health and one other fixed stat (usually attack or speed). Your units don't develop into anything new, they simply gain one more fixed ability at level 3, and that's that. You also don't have a home base to upgrade/defend. And lastly, unlike most RTS, the only ONE time you need to be in more than one spot at once, you can literally abandon any unit in the first spot (and it will not be attacked).

3) You can take your time and pace yourself for 98% of the game. To put it another way, it almost felt like a turn based strategy. Considering how unforgiving the game is, that's a good thing.

Despite all the above, it is a GREAT game actually! Don't expect too much depth and you will find yourself loving the game. At $10 for :psn+: members (and everyone is a :psn+: member this month), it's solid. I'd rate it 75 out of 100.

Thanks muffy!

having a bit of trouble on 2-2 on hard...defend the village. Have 2x level 5/5 soldiers , 1x level 4/5 soldier and 2x level 4/5 archers..any tips guys?

At this point you should have them all maxed at level 5, in fact you should have had enough gold to do upgrade them all towards the end of chapter 1. The additional HP and attack make a big difference. Either way, what I did was camp all my troops at the point in the village closest to where you start. There's a few stands in that area, and most enemies will flock to you. At the points where no one is on you, you can sent an archer unit to patrol towards the right around the bend and if overwhelmed, lure them back to the group. You can stick to this point for most of the map, but towards the end you need to go down, where you can also basically guard one spot. I was told a village was destroyed, but was able to complete the map anyhow.

Oh, and of course you should sic archers on the poison things right away, and heal all your troops.

Good luck!

I've read thru the guide but I'm still stuck on the chapter 2 boss (hard). I;ve tried 2 archer 2 soldier 1 gunner and 3 archer 2 soldier...all leveled up.... too the first bit is easy and take no damage but as soon as I attack the boss too many units come from all sides and eventually rape me despite heals. Teh soldiers taunts don't lure the bats awya from the gunner/archers so I keep getting raped. I got the boss down to 1/3 strenght with a gunner sat on him and archers helping clear bats and snakes and healing gunner...but cant get further...played it like 15times now :( any tips dudes?
