Introduction:

Twisted Metal is a vehicle combat game developed by Eat Sleep Play. It is the eighth instalment in the series of the same name as is the longest running PlayStation franchise, with titles stretching across the PS1, PS2, PSP and now PS3. Over the course of four different consoles, the Twisted Metal brand has been developed by four different companies. This title is currently only found on PS3 and is widely considered to be the franchise's reboot.

In this guide, we advise at least two playthroughs, of which can be done on 'Normal' and 'Twisted' difficulty. You will need to start a game on 'Hard' difficulty as well, but this only requires you to play to the third level. All of the story line trophies, with the exception of the racing trophy, can be earned through a cooperative story mode. Be aware that there are two missable trophies, 'TMA' and 'So Much Anger...'. These trophies require you to make it through the game without dieing and watch the both sets of credits and epilogues all the way through. Missing either one of these would require an additional playthrough of the storyline. See 'TMA' and 'So Much Anger...' for more information.

To obtain the 'Old School' trophy, you're required to have at least two controllers; however, three or four controllers would make many of the split-screen and online non-ranked trophies much easier. If you need an extra controller, you can use either the Blu-Ray remote, Navigation controller or PlayStation Move controller. While the game recognizes these controllers, you will not be able to move these characters in local split-screen so any other controllers will have to surround the non-Dual Shock PS3 controller. For the purpose of this guide, we have decided to use the default 'Classic' controller scheme but since we only refer to the combat oriented buttons, this scheme and 'Dual Analog' can be considered one in the same.

Lastly, do note that there seems to be a slight issue with stat tracking for ranked matches. Due to the stats being out of sync, some players have reported receiving trophies earlier or later than they were suppose to receive them. The problematic trophies include: 'Any Car Will Do', 'Point, Shoot, Kill', 'A la mode' and 'Another Level'. If you do not receive these trophies by the time you've met the requirements, don't stress out. Just keep playing online ranked matches and it will unlock eventually (focus on the requirements for said glitched trophy). Sony and the Eat Sleep Play team are looking into the issue and hope to fix the stats sync and exp problems with an upcoming patch.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Story Mode

The story mode itself is broken down into three separate campaigns. A campaign represents a single sequence, such as Sweet Tooth's game play starting and ending in Sunsprings, CA. The story is actually all three campaigns combined. The sequence that characters unlock is as follows: Sweet Tooth, Mr. Grimm and Doll Face. All story mode trophies, with the exception of the racing trophy, can be obtained through cooperative play.

We suggest starting your first play through on 'Normal' difficulty utilizing whatever vehicles suit you best. In this playthrough focus on completing the story without dying and without using the garage to obtain the 'TMA' trophy. This playthrough will unlock vehicles and serve as preparation for your second playthrough. While we suggest starting on Normal, it is possible to do these two playthroughs in reverse (starting with Twisted).

Now start up Story mode again, but this time select the 'Twisted' Difficulty. In this playthrough, focus on 'Make up your mind', 'Truly Twisted' and 'Twisted Gold'. Use whatever vehicles suit your game style best, as different vehicles allow different tactics and you'll be switching vehicles often. This time through you want to focus on earning every Gold Medal in each event and using the Garage at least 25 times. Utilizing the garage will allow you to switch vehicles and slowly heal those in storage, but going too far out of your way could make achieving the gold medal in that event more difficult. Don't stress over missing a gold medal as individual events can be replayed.

While playing through the campaign, try and run down any flaming 'Gunner' and 'Driver' that you can. These guys, burning with fire, run out of enemy vehicles when you destroy them and have a '+' above their head. If you drive over them, you will earn a random weapon (for the gunner) and a health boost (for the driver). You will need to run down 100 Gunners or Drivers in total.

Upon completion of this step, you should have earned the following trophies: 'TMA', 'Twisted Gold', 'Truly Twisted', '...And I Thank You For Playing Twisted Metal', 'Make Up Your Mind', 'The One That Got Away', 'Watch Me Shine!', 'Grimm's Dark Trip Back', 'Because I Care', 'So Much Anger...' and 'Am I Not Merciful?'.

If you didn't obtain them the first time through, you can go back after completing the campaign to obtain: 'Birth Control' and 'Racing? In a Twisted Metal game?' by replaying that event. Both of these are done through the story mode and details can be found below. 'Grace UnderFire' will require a third playthrough on hard, but only to the third level in Sweet Tooth's story campaign.

Step 2: Online - Unobtainable, due to server closure

There are 12 trophies in Twisted Metal that have to be unlocked via online play (or LAN split-screen for trophies that are unranked and only require 2 controllers, unless you hook up 2+ PS3s together). For those interested, online play is the selling point of the game and can be a lot of fun. The online modes are competitive but with a decent partner or two, should be fairly manageable. The trophies require you to kill numerous enemies with every vehicle, to win 10 matches on every map and 10 in every game mode, to achieve the highest rank and to play a single match online for at least 30 days straight.

The 12 trophies you will earn during this step are: 'Any Car Will Do', 'Point, Shoot, Kill', 'Another Level', 'A la Mode', 'Tradin' Paint', 'Fire in the Sky', 'Calypso', 'I h8 Poachers', 'All Sales Are Final', 'Right Place, Right Time', 'Up, Up and Away' and 'In Your Face'.

Refer to the Online section of the guide for all online trophies and details on how to unlock them.

If you need a hand with any online trophy, or simply want fellow fans/trophy hunters to play with, then head on over to the Trophy Boosting Thread.

Step 3: Split screen & Co-op

There are only two trophies that are directly related to Co-op and Split Screen and those being 'We Buy Gold!' and 'Old School'. However, there are several other trophies that will be much easier obtained through the use of alternate controllers in split screen, and they are: 'Remote Nuke', 'The Most Dangerous Game', 'Cookie Party', 'Twofer', '60 to 0' and 'That. Just. Happened.'.

With the exception of 'We Buy Gold' and 'Old School', these are all boostable and obtainable online. Keep in mind that 'Twofer' requires three controllers in split-screen and 'Remote Nuke' requires four controllers in split-screen.

Step 4: Clean Up

You should only have a few trophies remaining now, such as: 'Tantric Twisted', 'Racing? In a Twisted Metal Game?', 'Blah, Blah, Blah, Gimme the Trophy', 'Birth Control', 'You Think This Game Made Itself?', 'Medic', 'He's not Heavy' and 'Grace Under Fire'.

Check the guide for details on anything you have missed.

Story Mode Trophies

Complete story mode on any difficulty

Exactly what it says. Complete story mode (with all three factions) to unlock this trophy.

If you're following our Road Map, you should unlock this trophy along with the 'TMA' trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/CBD.jpg TMA (G)

Complete story mode without dying or switching cars in the garage

*Missable*

You'll want to be playing on 'Normal' for this story mode trophy. You DO NOT want to die, use the garage or utilize the game's restart feature. All of these will void the trophy, forcing you to replay the campaign from the beginning.

If you're about to die, you can pause and quit out of the game through the XMB menu. If you've already died, skip the pausing step and quit the game as fast as you can (hopefully beating the autosave function). To quit by the XMB menu, hold :ps: til a screen pops up (holding it = faster quit). When it does, select "Quit Game" which will take you out of the game and prevent the game's autosave feature form kicking in.

Use vehicles that make the most sense for the event (faster for races or flying for Juggernauts). Try to memorize the maps and pick up health whenever available. This is indicated through all objects with a blue (+) sign. Other potential event specific ways of healing will be explained to you by Calypso in the narrative.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/EA0.jpg We Buy Gold! (B)

Earn a gold medal on every campaign event in any difficulty mode

This trophy requires you to earn a gold medal in every event on ANY difficulty. To earn a gold medal you must complete the event under a certain time. This trophy is very similar to the 'Twisted Gold' trophy, but that requires you to earn all gold medals on the Twisted difficulty.

So if you wish to kill two birds with one stone, you can do this on Twisted mode by going for all the gold medals right from the start. To see all trophy times for all difficulties, please refer to 'Twisted Gold' below.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/C46.jpg Truly Twisted (S)

Complete story mode on Twisted difficulty

This should be your second time playing Story mode. Select Twisted difficulty and complete the Story with all three factions again to unlock this trophy.

Use a vehicle that you feel most comfortable with, but be sure to change up your vehicles based on the demands of the event (speed/armor/specials). Some people swear by Juggernaut for most events, as the trailer-hitched semi can do 75-hp of ram damage, but it cannot be used in races or boss events. By now you should know where all the good weapon pick-ups are as well as all health boosts. Utilize this knowledge and you'll be fine.

If you're following our Road Map, you should unlock this trophy while working on 'Twisted Gold' trophy. If you don't get the gold the first time through, you can always go back and replay a event.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/549.jpg Twisted Gold (G)

Earn gold medal in every campaign event and boss fight on twisted difficulty

To earn a Gold Medal in an event, you must complete the event within a certain time limit. As stated in the description, you must be playing on Twisted difficulty. It's suggested that you utilize vehicles for the demand of the event: such as Crimson Fury or Kamikaze for a racing event. Juggernaut can be more helpful in the Death Match or Endurance events. Boss events vary, see unique storyline related trophies for more information. This will likely be your most frustrating trophy, but it is obtainable.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/4F7.jpg The One That Got Away (B)

Complete the Sweet Tooth story on any difficulty

Complete the story with Sweet Tooth, no unlocks necessary as he’s the first playable story character. Impossible to miss.

See spoiler for unique boss information and tactics.

[spoiler=ST]

This method works for simply beating the event or getting Twisted Gold.

Sweet Tooth's unique boss is the Brothers Grimm (monster trucks). These vehicles can destroy any building on the map, but they don't do too much damage initially. As soon as you spawn on the map, drive around and pick up weapons. There is a mega gun in the building north of the clock tower and a power missile on the west side of that building. Once the clock tower is destroyed, there is another power missile in there.

When you're ready, focus all of your attacks on one vehicle. After you take it down, the other will flip a switch giving it armor. Once the second vehicle is cased in armor, you have to drive underneath it (while avoiding the wheels). If you can get it temporarily stuck in a corner of the map, this becomes much easier, but simply matching pace with the remaining monster truck should do it. Once your guy is inside, he'll place a remote detonator that you'll be able to set off. Do not try to rescue him as you'll only do more damage to yourself. After the armor is blown off, you only need to go in for the kill. By this point, both mega guns and the power missile should have respawned.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/7B4.jpg Grimm's Dark Trip Back (B)

Complete Grimm story on any difficulty

Complete the story with Mr. Grimm after having unlocked him by beating Sweet Tooth’s story sequence. Impossible to miss.

See spoiler for unique boss information and tactics.

[spoiler=MG]

This method works for simply beating the event or getting Twisted Gold.

Mr. Grimm's unique boss is the Iron Maiden (giant metal robot). This boss fight has 5 different stages, all with their own unique twists. The first phase involves a mini game of Nuke where you destroy the red car to sacrifice the boss to the missile launcher. The second phase allows you to shoot the statue with missiles and other weapons. The third phase involves a damage cage, where you will self destruct if you are outside of the zone for too long. The fourth phase takes you to the bridge where the robot pounds to push you backward and prevent return fire. The final phase involves a flying head, which will hit the ground if all surrounding mini flying heads are destroyed. This boss has an arsenal of swarmer missiles, giant fireballs, mini flying heads and pounding. Her rocket boosts can also hurt you (much like napalm) if she's hovering over you.

We would suggest Reaper if you're going for the Twisted gold medal as he sacrifices enemy bosses faster, is capable of destroying the enemy cars in one-shot and has a larger energy reserve for freeze missiles. When facing off against enemy cars, simply light up the chainsaw, freeze the opponent and let it rip. Each hit will be an instant kill. Because the sacrifice time is faster, the nuke sometimes starts almost on top of Iron Maiden, making the initial hit much easier. After you've taken down her force field, it should take two flaming chainsaw shots to bring up the damage field and three shots to take the fight to the bridge.

It is crucial to have a full arsenal of weapons at this point because she makes it impossible to light up your chainsaw. 2-3 power missiles and 300 mega ammo bullets should do the trick. After she is left with just a head, it should only take a handful of chainsaw shots or unloading on her with all other ammo. If you're empty after the bridge sequence, be sure to go pick up as much as you can. Again, mega ammo helps. You can find some at the back end of the starting side of the map and some at both ends of the bridge on the other side of the map. Two power missiles are tucked away on hidden paths (easy to spot) with another sitting on the left side of the bridge. As Reaper, these are best saved for the bridge fight. Remember that you have very little armor and it's best to keep moving.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/EA9.jpg Watch Me Shine! (B)

Complete the Doll Face Story on any difficulty

Complete the story with Dollface after having unlocked her by beating Mr. Grimm’s story sequence. Impossible to miss.

See spoiler for unique boss information and tactics.

[spoiler=DF]

This method works for simply beating the event or getting Twisted Gold.

Doll Face's unique boss is Sweet Tooth's Carnies (or flunkies) who await his return. The first stage can be done in less than 45 seconds with Shadow by using his alternate fire :triangle: special for a direct hit and then unloading on the clown head with all other ammo. Doing this, you'll only need to hit the head with another alternate fire special before it blows up, revealing an health pack on an elevator lift to the next stage.

The next stage is a mini pinball game that requires you to hit the target seen on during Calypso's cut scene and then hit the giant clown head with a bomb wielding clown. By hitting the giant target, a bomb wielding clown will fly out of a cannon (represented by sparkles flying behind it) and will jump onto your vehicle like any other clown. After the clown is on the front, you have 8 seconds before the bomb detonates, giving you time to drive up the ramp and into the clown's face. Doing this blows off a piece of the face and must be repeated two more times. If you're fast enough, this can be done in less than 2 minutes, giving you more time for the next two stages.

The third phase is a long metal tunnel full of twisted traps. THIS IS NOT A RACE! Take it slow and make sure to use your breaks!! By hitting the breaks between the metal lines on the ground, you'll be able to avoid the giant spiked balls, the deadliest part of this section. Use the same tactics to avoid axes and such. The compactor at the end smashes in a sequence of three, followed by a short pause. Time it right and you should be able to avoid the compactor completely. Save your shields for the big traps, don't use them on the flying metal bombs, but try to avoid the bombs when in the middle of many traps as they can push you into the trap (such as the spiked balls) which is instant death.

The last phase gives you Talon as you shoot down Sweet Tooth minions armed with bombs or detonators. After killing one, pick the Ice Cream truck up and fly to the giant hole in the last clown's head. Once you're lined up, press :triangle: and  to release the explosive Ice Cream truck and deal massive damage in the process. You only have to do this 5 times to finish off the final boss. Unfortunately there are no real distinctive landmarks, but there are three health packs (two on the outside, one closer to the boss at the top of a pillar) and two mega guns (marked by their distinct green color, one higher near a pillar and one lower). Just fly around until you get mega gun ammo as it makes taking down the Sweet Tooth minions much easier.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/B8E.jpg Because I Care (B)

Complete a campaign without hitting a single pedestrian

It is unclear whether this trophy is bugged (in a good way), or simply requires you to not hit any pedestrians in a single event; however, you should obtain this trophy after completing either Sweet Tooth's race or the unique boss fight.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/B15.jpg Birth Control (B)

Defeat the semi before a single enemy is spawned in Juggernaut DM - Watkyn's Harbor

This trophy requires you take down Juggernaut in Watkyn's Harbor in less than 1 minute and 30 seconds. It is advised that you take a flying vehicle (Talon preferred, but Sweet Tooth works) to make spotting the Juggernaut, mega guns, power missiles and health packs easier. Talon can also do a high amount of damage with its Tri Gunner special. Mega guns are particular effective as Talon as the secondary fire seems to lock on if you hover over or next to Juggernaut.

While Talon and Sweet Tooth are very capable, a number of other vehicles could effectively take Juggernaut out by simply grabbing a power missile and mega guns before rushing into battle. Those two weapons, with everything else in your arsenal, should take down a single Juggernaut with ease. Whether you're on the ground or in the air, be weary of his attacks and try to dodge them by continually moving.

Juggernaut has two potential weaknesses. The first is hitting Juggernaut on the inside of it's trailer, which requires you to wait for the back gate to open for a vehicle spawn and thus, voids the trophy. The second is to hit the emblazoned grill on the front of Juggernaut, which doubles the damage output. While it is possible to get in front of Juggernaut, it isn't necessarily advised unless you're doing one quick pass with a power missile as his ram damage (followed by mines) can be devastating to your trophy ambitions.

If you're a visual kind of person, Galactic Gaming has provided this video tutorial:

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/82C.jpg Am I Not Merciful? (B)

Kill 100 flaming gunners and/or drivers in campaign mode

Whenever you destroy an enemy vehicle, two individuals burning on fire will run from the wrecked car. They are known as the Driver and Gunner. The Driver has a blue '+' above his head and the Gunner has an orange '+'. Simply run over a total of 100 of these guys (can be a combination of the two) to unlock this trophy.

Running over a Driver rewards you with a small health replenish, while running over a Gunner gives you a random weapon. Doing this is a key to going on kill streaks, so get into a habit of running down these burning men. In doing so, you will earn this trophy in no time.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/402.jpg Grace Under Fire (B)

Beat Metro Square Electric Cage on HARD MODE with 5 SECONDS LEFT in your GRACE PERIOD meter, Cooperative Story is allowed

This trophy requires that you kill the last opponent with exactly 5 seconds on your grace meter. Initially this sounds like a daunting task, but it’s actually a lot easier than it sounds.

For this trophy, you’ll have to start a game on hard mode (only to get to the 3rd level) and you’ll want to select Juggernaut. When you get into the game, immediately start slamming into other vehicles (doing 75+ damage) and utilizing your special to get those AI attempting to flee. Continue to do this until there is only one AI left and that opponent is down to a fraction of his health.

Then, when the gate switches to another location, simply sit next to the opponent and use your freeze missile by pressing  on the D-pad. Repeatedly freeze the enemy every time the last freeze wears off. Then, when the timer his 5 seconds, shoot your strongest weapon at the enemy and the trophy will pop.

We strongly suggest picking up the power missile in the second cage (close to one of the health pack on the backside of the building) and saving it for this task.

If you are having any trouble unlocking this trophy, attempt it cooperatively for double the firepower.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/064.jpg Racing? In a Twisted Metal game? (S)

Don't miss any gates and win the battle in Race #2, one player only

This trophy requires you to get at least 4th place without missing a gate in Mr. Grimm's storyline race and win the mini Death Match after. This can be difficult due to the terrain, but knowing the track layout helps. We suggest using Crimson Fury, Kamikaze, Axel or Sweet Tooth. Crimson Fury, Axel and Kamikaze are three of the fastest vehicles in game, Sweet Tooth is able to fly through it and Axel has the ability to jump high.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/A35.jpg Make Up Your Mind (B)

Use the garage 25 times

This is easily done on your Twisted playthrough of the campaign. Use the garage as often as you want and you should have it soon enough. If you don’t get it by the end, you can replay an event and enter over and over til you complete it.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/110.jpg So Much Anger... (B)(H)

Discover the secret of Sophie Kane

*Missable*

To obtain this trophy, you simply have to beat the game and let the game run through the credits. After the first set of credits, there will be one epilogue. After the second set of credits, there will be a second epilogue. This trophy will pop after that second epilogue finishes.

If you didn't get the trophy, go check your video playlist to see if the epilogues are both unlocked. If they're not, you didn't watch it all the way through and you'll have to playthrough the entire story mode (all three campaigns) again to obtain it.

Co-op & Split-screen Boostable Trophies

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/A8B.jpg He's Not Heavy (B)

As Talon, pick up a teammate (Ranked, unranked, split-screen, campaign co-op)

This one is fairly easy and can be picked up in any team based mode. Simply hit :triangle: for Talon's alternate Special and then hit :l2: to drop the magnet. If you hover over a teammate, they’ll be locked onto your magnet and the trophy will pop. You'll then be able to drop the team mate by pressing :triangle: and .

You can obtain this online in any online team game or via local split-screen with four controllers.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/55A.jpg Medic! (B)

Heal a teammate

Choose Junkyard Dog for this trophy. Switch his alternate special by pressing :triangle:. This will drop a medic pack capable of healing teammates. Deploy it and have a teammate run over it to unlock this trophy. The medic pack comes in the form of a green glowing car than can either be dropped behind the tow truck or thrown in front of it, just like the primary taxi toss special.

You can obtain this online in any online team game or via local split-screen with four controllers.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/14C.jpg Remote Nuke (S)

Kill 3 players with a single remote bomb

This is best done with 4 controllers in split-screen, or boosted online with 3 friends. Either way, start up a 4 player Death match game with everyone riding Reaper. Once you find yourself a remote bomb, place the bomb on the environment somewhere and let it cook (so don't detonate it). Now have all the other players sit right beside it.

Once the remote bomb is flashing red, detonate it to kill the three Reapers. To make this a little easier, have your three friends be on the verge of death with only a touch of health left, ensuring a kill when the bomb detonates.

If you do not have access to 4 controllers, find some partners in the Trophy Boosting Thread and set up a private game.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/1D7.jpg The Most Dangerous Game (B)

Be the hunted/stay the hunted in ranked, unranked, or split screen local HUNTED GAME MODE for at least 4 minutes

Best done with 2 controllers in a LAN game, but it can also be earned through boosting or regular online play. Create a LAN game of 'Team Hunted' and leave your controller idle for four minutes when you are the 'Hunted' and the trophy will pop. If you're trying to earn this through regular online play, try to do it on a map that you know pretty well. It is important to know where health pick-ups are and what are hard to reach places.

If you do not have access to 2 controllers, find some partners in the Trophy Boosting Thread and set up a private game.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/137.jpg Cookie Party (B)

Kill 3 enemies in a single game using drop mines

Again, this is best done in split-screen with two controllers, but you can also do it in single player and online multiplayer. Press :left: when you have enough energy to drop a mine. Do not use a Supermine as it does not count towards this trophy.

If you do this through boosting or in split-screen, just damage the 2nd player til it has barely any health left and then run over a mine for an instant death. Repeat this three times and the trophy should pop. For single player and online, drop mines when people are chasing you.

If you do not have access to 2 controllers, find some partners in the Trophy Boosting Thread and set up a private game.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/815.jpg Old School (B)

Play a 2,3,4 player split screen game

Simply jump into a split screen match (requires 2 controllers) and this trophy will pop. If you do not have a secondary PS3 Controller, all is not lost. The navigation controller, PS Move controller and Blu-ray remote will work (they remain stationary).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/028.jpg Twofer (B)

Kill two enemies with a single rat rocket

The 'Rat Rocket' is Vermin's Special Weapon. You will want to press :triangle: to change it to the alternate 'Piloted Rat Rocket'. Do this in 3 player split-screen or boost online with some mates. Make sure your two targets have 40 hit points or less of health left, then have them sit right next to each other. Launch the Rat Rocket and pilot it in between the pair for a double kill and this trophy.

If you do not have access to 3 controllers, find some partners in the Trophy Boosting Thread and set up a private game.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/BC7.jpg 60 to 0 (B)

Kill a player with full heath in one shot

Yet again, 2 player split-screen is best as you'll have a stationary target. To obtain this trophy, use a sniper rifle. With the sniper rifle equipped, let your sights sit on the target til the sniper’s rotation makes a full circle and zooms in on the target. Once the sights are zoomed in, take your shot for an instant head shot kill and this trophy. This even works on heavily armored vehicles like Juggernaut.

Alternatively, you can also use Juggernaut and ram into a Reaper during normal single player game play. If you're attempting Twisted Gold, you'll likely use Juggernaut at some point and obtain this trophy indirectly.

If you do not have access to 2 controllers, find some partners in the Trophy Boosting Thread and set up a private game.

If you're a visual kind of person, cuzzys2nd has provided this video tutorial on Sniper Rifle usage (remember, one shot kill for the trophy):

Kill yourself with a freeze cheat shot in ranked SM or LMS, or in any unranked or offline play

Credit goes to Bluezombieclock for finding a two controller split-screen method. This trophy requires you to kill yourself by hitting a frozen enemy with another EMP (freeze) missile. Simply set your self up in a two player split-screen match with Kamikaze and another vehicle.

When the match starts, have the other vehicle use its default "Mounted Guns" on Kamikaze by pressing :l2:. You only want to do 149 damage as Kamikaze only has 150 hit points. When Kamikaze is near death, you simply use Kamikaze's alternate "S" special by pressing :triangle: and then :l2:. This will freeze the 2nd player, allowing you to press  and kill yourself by a "freeze cheat" in the process. This can of course be boosted online, in a private 4 player Death Match.

If you do not have access to 2 controllers, find some partners in the Trophy Boosting Thread and set up a private game.

If you're a visual kind of person, spiderjackson50 has provided this video tutorial:

Online Trophies

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/18D.jpg Any Car Will Do (G)

Earn 50 Kills with Each Vehicle in Online Ranked Games

Unobtainable due to server closure

There are a total of 17 vehicles in Twisted Metal, but Axel doesn't count (DLC), so you only need to get 50 kills with the other 16 vehicles. You start with 3 vehicles, 12 will be unlocked online and 1 has to be unlocked via Single player. Online vehicles are unlocked through level tokens that are acquired through leveling up in ranked matches. In order to unlock Warthog, you must complete Single player on Twisted difficulty as well as earning all Gold medals.

Once you have all 16 vehicles unlocked, jump into online play and get killing. 50 kills isn't a super high amount, but doing it 16 times will take a while. Some vehicles may not be suited to your play style too, which makes getting 50 kills a little more difficult. Just keep playing online and switching up your vehicle and you will eventually unlock this trophy.

Note that this is for ranked games only so no private boosting servers allowed.

Kill 100 enemies with every missile during Ranked games

Unobtainable due to server closure

This is going to be a headache but the objective is pretty simple: kill 100 enemies online with every missile. Missile weapons include: Swarmer, Stalker, Power, Homing and Fire missiles. We suggest leaving this trophy until you have only a few trophies remaining. Hopefully by then you will have this trophy or be close enough that grinding is minimal.

Most of these missiles are staple weapons of the series, and as such you will be using them quite often. Just remember that the missile has to do the final damage.

Note that this is for ranked games only so no private boosting servers allowed.

Win 10 Ranked games in each map. Map size does not matter

Unobtainable due to server closure

There are a total of 8 maps, so that means you must win at least 80 RANKED games. Your best bet here is to play team games so the onus is not solely on you. Other than that, just play your best and keep playing. If you play online often this will unlock naturally.

Note that this is for ranked games only so no private boosting servers allowed.

Win 10 Ranked games in each game type

Unobtainable due to server closure

There are a total of 7 modes, so that means you must win at least 70 RANKED games. This trophy requires the following game modes: Death Match, Team Death Match, Last Man Standing, Team Last Man Standing, Hunted, Team Hunted and Nuke modes.

Note that this is for ranked games only so no private boosting servers allowed.

Ram 5 players to death in a single online game

Unobtainable due to server closure

Easily done with 2 controllers in a LAN game but it can also be earned through boosting or regular online play. Create a LAN game of 'Death Match' to complete with two controllers. Pick a small map and ram your opponent 5 times with Darkside and his "Darkside Slam" special or Juggernaut with his base ram damage. The suggested opponent should be Reaper, as it has the lowest armor of all the vehicles.

If attempting online, select Juggernaut or Darkside. Darkside is a good choice as his "Darkside Slam" ability can get around 80 damage when boosting (increase in speed). Juggernaut is also a good choice as he does a base ram damage of 75 at higher speeds and has a larger energy pool to freeze opponents (essentially immobilizing them for multiple ramming attempts).

If you do not have access to 2 controllers, find some partners in the Trophy Boosting Thread and set up a private game.

Shoot down an enemy missile 1 time in a ranked game of NUKE

Unobtainable due to server closure

Best bet here is to use either Talon, Vermin or Sweet Tooth for this. Talon can fly alongside a launched nuke, and using his special to focus on the Nuke, is able to deal some heavy damage. Vermin and Sweet Tooth can get up to three of their specials, both of which have a homing ability (Sweet Tooth's can fly through solid objects and barriers). If piloted though, the rat rocket should instantly kill the nuke so press :triangle: to switch to his alternate Special and fire-and-guide it to the nuke.

While a sniper shot can destroy a nuke instantly (when zoomed in), it seems this does not count for the trophy. The one kill sniper shot registers as the nuke colliding with something (no text appears stating that you've damaged the nuke and the announcer says the Nuke missed).

Achieve the Highest Online Rank (Rank 30)

Unobtainable due to server closure

This trophy only requires you to play ranked matches online. The highest rank is 30, at which point you will have unlocked all the vehicles for online play (excluding Warthog if you do not have Twisted Gold).

Every time you play a match, you will earn EXP. You will not get EXP if you leave the server or get disconnected before the match ends. Placing in 1st for small lobbies, and in the top 3 for large lobbies, will earn you an EXP bonus, making the over-all progression much faster.

If you’re having trouble winning in Death Match, Hunted or Last Man Standing, then try a team based game and get to know some veteran Twisted Metal players. Again, this one is more difficult to boost due to the fact that you are required to play in ranked matches, so private boosting lobbies will not work.

Finish a ranked game with the most damage done and fewest kills overall

Unobtainable due to server closure

Not as difficult as it may sound. Load up a ranked game and focus just on dealing damage but not killing anyone. Hit everyone with any weapon you have and use your sidearm as often as possible. When a target gets down to 20% or less health, retreat and find another enemy. Avoid anyone in the red because you may kill them and here the fewer kills you have, the better.

A great vehicle to do this with is Meatwagon or Sweet Tooth as their specials chase down targets and deal enough damage to hurt the enemy but not necessarily to kill them. Avoid chasing injured lighter armored vehicles because you may accidentally kill them. If you're an unlucky gamer, you may get this without even trying as people steal kills right from under you.

Win at least 1 Ranked Online game per day for 30 straight days

Unobtainable due to server closure

For most people, this may cause a problem. Winning a ranked game is easily done, because team based modes count, but logging on and playing every day for a month straight may prove difficult. In theory, simply jump online everyday for 30 days straight and get yourself a win in any game mode. After your win on the 30th day, the trophy will pop.

Kill a player less than 5 seconds after you respawn, in an online game

Unobtainable due to server closure

Credit goes to BEN186422 for finding this method. The easiest way to obtain this trophy is through a 2 controller LAN game, but it can also be earned through boosting or regular online play. Create a LAN game of 'Death Match' and select the map 'Diablo Pass: Dead Man's Crossing' with a guest signed in as the #2 controller split-screen. Through the options, you can set weapons to unlimited, environmental damage to death and start the game.

Once in, get both characters to the bridge if they haven't already spawned there and damage the #2 controller character to a fraction of their health. Once that is done, simply keep running off the bridge or ledges with the primary vehicle until you die and spawn close enough to get a shot off at the #2 controller in less than 5 seconds. If you succeed, the trophy should pop. If not, then repeat the process.

In our opinion, it is best to use Sweet Tooth as the primary vehicle and Reaper as the #2 controller. The reason for this is that Reaper has light armor and is easier to bring down to a fraction of his health. Sweet Tooth's special is able to go through walls and barriers, so if you spawn on the wrong side of the bridge, you won't have to take aim, you simply have to start firing. The reason for unlimited weapons is so that you can simply start firing Sweet Tooth's special any time you spawn in (if you chose to do so), but it isn't necessary to earn the trophy.

If you don't have access to 2 controllers, find some partners in the Trophy Boosting Thread and set up a private game.

Launch a Nuke

Unobtainable due to server closure

Easily done with 2 controllers in a LAN game (#2 controller set as split-screen guest), but it can also be earned through story mode, boosting or regular online play. Create a LAN game of 'Nuke' and set up the #2 controller as a guest. Then start up the game, grab the enemy boss and launch the nuke. This trophy will also naturally unlock in the Story mode during Mr. Grimm's unique boss sequence.

If attempting online, capture an enemy boss by driving over them (you can see them on the HUD) and get to either of your teams missile carrier as fast as possible. There is one stationary launcher and one mobile one. You’ll need to stay within the designated circle (green for the mobile truck, red flashing lights for the stationary one) until the sacrifice meter is full. The screen will then flash "enemy boss sacrificed" and you will now be piloting the nuke. Trophy unlocked.

Careful though, the default settings have it set to inverted, so up is down and down is up!

If you you don't have access to 2 controllers, find some partners in the Trophy Boosting Thread and set up a private game.

Hit a statue with a Nuke

Unobtainable due to server closure

Following "Up, Up and Away" you’ll simply have to guide the Nuke to the statue and hit it. This sounds pretty simple, but gets complicated with enemies firing at it, including Talons. Fortunately you can use obstacles to prevent people from shooting your nuke and also two shields (by pressing :right:) to prevent incoming damage. Remember, the default controls for flight are inverted but you can change this by pressing :start: and looking in the options menu if you wish. While steering a nuke, :ls: steers the Nuke while pressing :rs: increases its speed.

Again, this is easily done with 2 controllers in a LAN game, but it can also be earned through boosting or regular online play. Unlike the "Up, Up and Away", this will not unlock in story mode as Mr. Grimm's unique boss is not a statue. See details in "Up, Up and Away" (above) for more information.

If you don't have access to 2 controllers, find some partners in the Trophy Boosting Thread and set up a private game.

Miscellaneous Trophies

50 cars killed by yourself in endurance mode

This is a pretty simply gold trophy. Simply load up single player's challenge mode game on Normal with "Max. Cars Endurance" in the games options. Your goal is to get 50 kills with 0 deaths. We suggest playing it on Sunsprings, CA and turning on the health semi for a full health boost when you need it most. The vehicle doesn't matter, but it should be one that you feel comfortable enough with for a long period of time because you'll have to rank in 50 kills before the trophy pops.

If you select Sunsprings, you'll find mega ammo on the stairs in front of the two schools and another one in the clock tower once it's destroyed. You'll be able to find power missiles inside both high schools, behind the movie theater, between the gas station's gas pumps and inside the convenience store. Health packs are listed by the blue (+) sign and should be grabbed as needed.

Play and finish the "Live Training" tutorial mode

We highly recommend you enter the tutorial as you load up the game for the first time. Completing it will not only net you this trophy, it lets you get a feel for the complex controls before jumping into the game.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/611/014.jpg You Think This Game Made Itself? (B)

Watch the credits, start to finish

Simple…just watch both sets of credits from start to finish. We would suggest waiting til you beat the story mode on any difficulty for this trophy as the "hidden trophy" will require you to watch through both sets of credits and both epilogues before the trophy pops.

Special thanks to LilithLeon, mjc0961, Bluezombieclock, BEN186422 and Dbarr74 for helping find ways to improve upon the trophy hunting techniques.

Oh man THANKS that's badass! This is gonna be useful!

btw I found a way to get That. Just. Happened with only two controllers if necessary for anybody (feel free to put it in your guide, too)

I found out that Kami has 150hp after slowly gunning him down one mounted gun bullet at a time. So what you do is you deal kamikaze 149 points of damage (i don't know where the .5 in my video game from).

Nice guide, it should help out but here are 2 errors I saw while browsing through.

1. 'Any Car Will Do' (G)

Earn 50 Kills with Each Vehicle in Online Ranked Games

The description says "ranked" match but you say that it can be boosted in a private match. This can't be boosted in a private match but possibly boosted in ranked servers if you fill the teams with friendly players.

2. 'Point, Shoot, Kill' (G)

Kill 100 enemies with every missile during Ranked games

You only listed 5 missiles for this trophy but the game's instruction manual list the sniper rifle as a missile so technically there's six. (Also, the profile stats list the freeze missile as a weapon, so we all hope and pray that the freeze missile doesn't count.)

Anyway great job and keep up the good work.

Awesome. Our guide is up.

If anyone has any questions or problems please let us know.

Heh, sorry for not private messaging you the second I posted it wottagunn. Just went through and made a couple minor adjustments regarding boosting and ranked games etc. Just finishing up and getting ready for bed now. :D

Thanks for the heads up! I caught the ranked game errors that snuck their way in there, but wasn't aware of the Sniper Rifle issue. Anyway, I'm off to bed. Will read over it again tomorrow and see if there are any other last minute adjustments that need to be made.

Great guide guys, thanks!

Is there a way to keep track of the stats for the trophies that require a certain amount of kills with missiles and cars and the others that require winning in all modes and maps???

If you go into multiplayer, theres a profile tab you can scroll over to. It gives all the info you need to know! The only thing is i dont think it lists which maps youve won on. Just the amount of time youve played them.

Yes to missiles, cars, and modes. No to maps. When you get online, select "Profile." Then click :cross: and select the options you want to view. For some reason, it will tell you the time you've played on a map, but no other information. Also, note that it is slow to update your stats for some reason. Like they do it twice a day or something, IDK.

EDIT: Heh, one minute behind DMiZ :p

Best strategy in my opinon for some of the twisted levels man, beat the game on normal first get a feel for the game. Also the major part here is getting the juggernaut vehicle unlocked!!! I seriously kicked ass on the first few levels getting gold times FIRST TIME PLAYING on twisted difficulty with the jugger. Also some levels the juggernaut will not be an option of course but that's fine, you will definitely need other vehicles for some of the boss challenges. There is seriously no point to go through on twisted without the juggernaut. You will sit their longer on one level then probably playing through on normal mode, when if you had the bad ass jugger you would tear their ass up. The jugger takes sooooooo much damage its awsome. Just my info for others who want this awesome plat.!!

Thanks for the guide guys!

For TMA, I know we can't restart but what about quitting to menu?

Also, the guide keeps saying easy. Do you mean normal mode? (because theres only hard and twisted left right?)

Hah, to be fair, we only used the word "easy" in reference to a mode 3 times, but yes...Easy was meant to be Normal. My apologies for the typo. I haven't gotten around to playing through on normal yet (started and played through Twisted). Good catch though and thank you for the feed back! :D

Edit: Also, by quitting though the XMB, we mean pressing or holding the :ps: button on your PS3 controller and selecting quit game. I'll make sure to clarify that now.
