Trinity Universe Roadmap/Trophy Guide (Japanese/English version)

The North American version's trophies are slightly different from the Japanese ones. Strategies for both are listed where appropriate/available.

Overview:

  • Estimated difficulty: undetermined
  • Offline Trophies: (B) 22, (S) 9, (G) 5, (P) 1
  • Online Trophies: None
  • Length: 100-150 hours
  • Minimum number of playthroughs: 2
  • Missable Trophies: 3 - Closet Otaku (Dreamer), What is truth, dood? (True End), The Strongest Harem (Character Love)
  • Difficulty Affects Trophies: No (difficulty affects enemy strength only)
  • Glitched Trophies: None
  • Guide Status: Second draft - some typos fixed and initial English localization provided

Roadmap

1. First playthrough

For the most part, just play through the first time however you want. Your only requirement is to drift dungeons at least five times before the last dungeon (story-related drifts don't count).

If you also recruit the three optional characters available to you first time through, you'll get a True Ending. If not you'll get a Normal Ending. Trophy-wise it doesn't matter (the True Ending is not what is required for the True End trophy). See The Strongest Harem (Character Love) for how to recruit those three characters.

Save before the last dungeon - if you get a Bad Ending it means you didn't drift enough dungeons, so reload and drift a couple more this time. On your first playthrough you will likely unlock Everyone's Hero (Hero), Planetary Hero (Super Hero), Seeker of Victory (Victory), Seeker of More Victory (Super Victory), Power of the Earth (Power Soldier), and Art Appreciation (Creator) (If you spend more time on this playthrough you may unlock more, but they'll be easy to come by on your next playthrough).

Which path first? Demon Dog King or Valkyrie?

The choice between the two does not change things story-wise (you'll be playing through both anyway if you want everything) or trophy-wise, so it's up to you. If you're planning on shelling out for paid DLC, there are some meteorite packs that will make your first run very easy if you pick the Valkyrie route first.

If you can't decide, look at the images of Kanata and Rizelia and decide whose rear end you like the least - then pick that character. Your second playthrough will be much longer than the first, and so you'll be staring at the second character's behind for quite a while.

2. Second playthrough

After saving clear data from your last playthrough, use it to start a New Game+.

New Game+

For those not familiar with the concept of "New Game+", it's a mechanism that allows you to re-start story mode while retaining some of things you've obtained/earned on your prior playthrough(s).

Stuff that carries over across playthroughs:

  • Money (a.k.a. "G")
  • Space rank (Evaluation points)
  • Equipment, meteorites, mana, souls, and almost all items
  • Managraphics (created in Miyu's shop)
  • Counters for # of battles fought/# of enemies defeated
  • CG Gallery

Stuff that does not carry over across playthroughs:

  • Character level
  • Sensation level
  • Planet ring level
  • Items used to expand planet ring (Crystals, etc.)
  • Counters for # of monsters/meteorites/items created
  • IM items
  • Black Market points

On this playthrough, choose the story you didn't pick the first time (You need to go through both paths to unlock the True Route). You must recruit all optional characters on this playthrough (again, see The Strongest Harem (Character Love)).

Make sure not to buy any IM items on this playthrough, or you may miss Closet Otaku (Dreamer). Make sure to fulfill the requirements for What is truth, Dood? (True End) as well, or you're in for another playthrough.

3. True Route / Post-game

After defeating the last episode boss the second time around, the fourth optional character will join. At this point it's time to get through all the remaining trophies.

Known Bugs (JPN version):

  • Any recipes you buy on a playthrough will not be accessible on future playthroughs. This includes recipes for items, meteorites, monsters, and weapons (i.e. everything), as well as the recipes you get from the free Miyu DLC. Either don't buy any recipes on your first playthrough (and don't download that DLC) or synth everything you need from them before you begin your next playthrough. This does not affect trophies in any way (it is still easy to get most anything you want on your second playthrough), but if you like synthing then hold off.
  • The Gallery screen will occasionally freeze. Make sure you save before going into it!

It's not yet known if these bugs are present in the NA/EU version - confirmation either way is appreciated.

Trophy Guide:

All trophy titles are listed with NA/EU versions first, then with the JP version in parentheses. Trophy descriptions are listed only once (the NA/EU version) unless the descriptions/requirements are different between versions

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/02.jpg Everyone's Hero (Hero) - Defeat more than 100 monsters. (B)

Quite simple - just keep fighting until you have defeated 100 monsters. A battle with three enemies counts as 3 for the purposes of this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/images/trophies/294/03.jpghttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/03.jpg Planetary Hero (Super Hero) - Defeat more than 300 monsters. (B)

As above, keep defeating those monsters! If you don't get this on your first playthrough, don't worry - this counter continues into your next playthrough.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/images/trophies/294/04.jpghttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/04.jpg Galaxy Hero (Ultra Hero) - Defeat more than 800 monsters. (B)

Defeat more monsters - you probably won't get this one until a good way through story mode of your second playthrough.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/images/trophies/294/05.jpghttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/05.jpg Seeker of Victory (Victory) - Win in battle 30 times. (B)

Simply win 30 battles. Running away doesn't count. :)

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/images/trophies/294/06.jpghttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/06.jpg Seeker of More Victory (Super Victory) - Win in battle 100 times. (B)

Win more battles. This one you should also unlock on your first playthrough.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/images/trophies/294/07.jpg

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/07.jpg Seeker of Annihilation (Ultra Victory) - Win in battle 300 times. (B)

...and win some more battles. This counter carries over across playthroughs, so no worries if you don't get it on your first playthrough.

See Be the Meteor Shower (Hit Mania), though this trophy will probably come on its own as you near the end of story mode (on any playthough). Some bosses will mince your party if you can't chain attacks at least this high.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/14.jpg Art Appreciation (Creator) - Obtain 10 Managraphic Images. (B)

See Closet Otaku (Dreamer). You'll probably get this one during story mode on your first playthough if you're diligent in clearing dungeons of treasure.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/images/trophies/294/15.jpg

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/15.jpg Treasure hunter - Discover 30 concealed treasures. (B)

See Museum Creator (Treasure Mania). You'll probably get this trophy without any special effort, though.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/images/trophies/294/16.jpghttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/16.jpg The Space Cleaner (Space cleaner)- Drift 10 dungeons out of orbit. (B)

See Ultimate Player (Space Activists).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/images/trophies/294/17.jpghttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/17.jpg The Bourgeois (Bourgeois) - Spend 100,000G at the Shop. (B)

Spend 100,000 total at the items shops over the course of a playthrough (I believe this counter resets each playthrough). You'll probably get this one without trying. If you're having trouble getting money, see Shop Owner (The Debtor).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/images/trophies/294/18.jpghttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/18.jpg Managraphic Addict (Managraphic love)- Spend 1,000,000G at the Managraphic Workshop.(B)

This trophy is very easy since you can set the price of items at Miyu's shop. Get a million G from somewhere, then save your game. Go into her shop, buy something, and pay one million for it. Let the trophy pop, then reload your save.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/images/trophies/294/19.jpghttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/19.jpg Galaxy Miser (Gorgeous road) - Hold over 1,000,000G. (B)

(JPN version: To have over 100,000,000G.)

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/images/trophies/294/20.jpghttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/20.jpg Meteorite Star (Meteorlight star) - Create 100 Meteorites. (B)

The trophy requirements are a bit misleading (and even more misleading in the NA version!). You have have to perform the action of creating a meteorite 100 times. If you make a batch in one transaction it still only counts as one towards this trophy. So, make one meteorite at a time. On your second playthrough you should have plenty of mana to create some of the basic meteorites, which are just as good as any other for the purposes of this trophy.

This counter resets every playthrough. If you are on the Demon Dog King path this won't be available until Chapter 11.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/images/trophies/294/21.jpghttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/21.jpg Material star - Synthesize 100 items. (B)

Perform item synthesis 100 times. As with Meteorite Star (Meteorlight Star), if you make a batch at once it still only counts as one towards this trophy. Make sure to compose items one at a time, until you've got this trophy.

JPN version only (?) : To do this easily, write down the ingredients required to synth a tier 1 weapon (the ones that cost 300G in the shop). Buy 99 of each of those items on the Black Market, then come back and synth that item 99 times. And then synth something else.

This counter resets every playthrough.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/images/trophies/294/22.jpghttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/22.jpg Monster Star (Monsterstar) - Create 100 Monsters. (B)

Create 100 monster's at Tsubaki's shrine/coliseum. As with the other '..Star' trophies a batch counts as one, so only create one monster at a time!

You can have one monster of each type created at a time. Before you can create another one of that type you must either defeat the existing one in battle or erase it. Either way counts for this trophy (Defeating it earns you money, clear souls, and other items, but takes time. Whether it's worth it or not is up to you).

This counter resets every playthrough. If you are on the Valkyrie path this won't be available until Chapter 11.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/23.jpg Space Tourists (Space traveler) - Let yourself drift out of orbit 50 times. (B)

You must cause a dungeon to drift, as in Space Activists (Ultimate Player) and then not escape in time. Either run around grabbing items or just stand there. After the timer runs out, you'll have to wait for a UFO to show up. Either pay the pilot a bunch of money or kill the pilot in battle and take over its ship (by post-game this battle is not difficult at all).

Every time you get drifted you lose 30% of your money! Make sure to spend it all and/or convert it into Black Market points before trying to grind for this trophy

If the dungeon starts drifting on its own but you fail to escape, I believe it still counts towards this trophy.

This counter carries across playthroughs (I got drifted 3 times one playthrough, then 47 the next, and obtained this trophy). When grinding you can probably get drifted about 5 times an hour, so count on spending 10 hours towards this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/images/trophies/294/24.jpghttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/24.jpg Game Maniac (Game mania)- Get over 1,000,000 Evaluation Points. (S)

See Space Activists (Ultimate Player) for tips on clearing dungeons. Ideally you want to set a dungeon adrift, defeat the level's EX monster, and dash for the exit, earning you about 7000 - 10,000 points per level. By the time you get Space Activists you should be at 700,000 - 800,000 points or more. Combined with what you get from story mode and the points from getting set adrift (Space Tourists (Space Traveler)) it won't take long to reach a million.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/images/trophies/294/25.jpghttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/25.jpg Shopaholic (Shopping mania)- Spend 1,000,000G at the Shop.(S)(S)

(JPN version: To spend over 10,000,000G in the shop.)

See The Debtor (Shop Owner). Those of you playing the JPN version can count on taking a while longer to get this than their NA/EU brethren.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/images/trophies/294/26.jpghttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/26.jpg Closet Otaku (Dreamer) - Obtain 30 Managraphic Images. (S)

You must obtain 30 Images by searching and collecting them in dungeons (look for the blue line while using Sensation).

The Images you have collected reset on every playthrough (as does the counter for this trophy).

Images bought in stores do not count. Images won (in battle, or as customer appreciations items) don't count either. Do not buy any Images items on the playthough you attempt this on! If you buy one it won't show up in any dungeon and you'll miss your chance at it. There are a limited number of these so if you buy enough you'll lock yourself out of this trophy!

A (mostly complete) list of Images and where they're found follows (in Japanese only for now, until I've gone through the NA version):

Work on this while obtaining Space Activists (Ultimate Player) on your second playthrough. If a dungeon has multiple Images in it you may want to anchor it so it doesn't drift away if you take to long (remember to release the anchor before you go for the last Image so you can drift it!).

The trophy will unlock after you exit the dungeon in which you discovered the 30th Image.

You must obtain 60 treasures by searching and collecting them in dungeons (look for the yellow line while using Sensation). Every dungeon area has one of these, and areas that change depending on the time of day have four, so there are plenty of these to be obtained.

The counter for the number of treasures you have collected resets on every playthrough.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/images/trophies/294/28.jpghttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/28.jpg Be the Meteor Shower (Hit mania) - Hit Count in a Fury Chain exceeds 1,000. (S)

The hardest part of getting this trophy is finding an enemy that can take a thousand hits without keeling over. I used the level boss in the last True Route dungeon successfully, but you'll need someone at least as powerful (or characters with really weak offense).

Preparation:

  • Wait until post-game on your second playthrough. Choose 3 characters that aren't buffed offensively with clear souls, and Prinny (who is hopefully also not buffed offensively). Buff them defensively - they need to withstand an attack or two from the boss. Also buff their HIT and possibly SPD.
  • Outfit your four characters with the best gear available. This is all easily obtainable via the Black Market. Ideally you want all characters to have >= 125AP, or at the very least 85 AP.

In Battle:

  • Rest 1 or 2 turns to get your characters up to 250 AP each. If anyone dies retry after buffing them defensively some more.
  • Use attack sequences for each character as listed here: Japanese Wiki - Skills. These sequences should get you about 200 hits per character (so that's 800 already!)
  • Make sure Prinny goes last.
  • You may not be able to finish the sequences before you run out of AP. That's OK - just make sure to chain the next character before you run out!
  • Your first three characters should just attack as above and build up the IM gauge. When switching from one character to the next, try to hit the 'star' options (and hope for an "IM Gauge Up"), but I recommend against using a Fury Chain Team Attack - they can do a lot of damage for few hits, and you run the risk of killing the enemy before you score enough hits.
  • Hopefully your third character will Soul Break the enemy, recharging their hit points. By now the IM gauge should have 5+ full charges,
  • Start Prinny's sequence and when you feel the time is right, use Prinny's special attack (:r3:, :square:) - this does 146 hits without doing too much damage.
  • The goal is to use Prinny's special attack three times (6 charges) before the enemy kicks it.
  • Continue Prinny's sequence until you run out of AP or the enemy is out of HP.
  • If the enemy is still standing after this, pray it doesn't kill you and attack again next turn (or boost your party's offense by a bit and try again).

If Katakana isn't your strength, the characters and sequences I used are listed here:

[spoiler=hit_mania_sequences]

Flonne: :cross: x 8, :triangle::triangle:, :square: x 11, :cross::cross::cross:, :triangle: x 11

Rizelia: :square: x 11, :triangle::triangle:, :cross::cross::cross:, :square::square::square:, :triangle: x 8, :cross: x 11

Mizuki: :cross: x 11, :square::square:, :triangle::triangle:, :cross:, :triangle:, :square: x 11, :cross::cross::cross:, :triangle: x 8

Prinny: :cross:, :square:, :triangle: x 5, :square::square::square:, :cross: x 11, :triangle::triangle:, :square: x 11

All characters were just past level 100. What I managed to get from the above, along with 3x Prinny's Pringer Beam, got me just over 1200 hits before the boss ran out of HP.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/29.jpg Power of Creation (Damage hazard) - Total Damage in a Fury Chain exceeds 300,000. (S)

The total damage of one fury chain must hit at least 300,000. Use :r1: to chain attacks from each character together. Magic attacks (:triangle:) hit all enemies at once and their damage is cumulative, so an attack that does 10,000 damage to three enemies counts as 30,000.

Here too, the hardest part about this trophy is finding an enemy that will stay alive long enough to receive this much damage (once an attack depletes an enemy below 0 HP it vanishes - there's no overkill option like in Cross Edge). If you Soul Break an enemy (which depends more on the number of hits you land) its HP replenishes, so you can try to do so to effectively get double the HP to obliterate. :)

Make sure to look at the combos each character has. The combo itself doesn't cost any AP, so it's essentially free damage. Using Fury Chain attacks is also free damage (use :r1: then switch to the next character when the timer hits the green area. Fury Chain Team Attacks are easier to initiate the more combos a character did, so using combos effectively is very important!

By post-game though, you'll probably be doing close to this much without even trying, so you don't need to concentrate on it much.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/34.jpg What is truth, dood? (True end) - Complete the true ending route. (G)

You do not get this by simply getting a True Ending. You get this by completing the 'True Route'

True Route Requirements:

  • Must be on at least your second playthrough. You must have finished/be finishing story mode for both paths (i.e. you can't just use the Valkyrie path twice). You must have got either Normal Ending or True Ending for the other path (Bad Ending is not sufficient).
  • You must recruit the first three optional characters (see The Strongest Harem (Character Love)).
  • In Chapter 11, rest for a few days and the floating wreck named "朽ち果てた集落" will show up. View the event related to it. If it does not show up after a few days you have screwed up somehow. Check the above two requirements.
  • Rest a couple more days and the floating wreck named "滅びた未来都市" will show up. View its related event as well.
  • Before the last dungeon, you must drift dungeons (outside of story-related events) in this playthrough, at least fifteen (15) times. (It's good to keep track of your progress on a sheet of paper, you'll want it for Space Activists (Ultimate Player)!)
  • Defeat the story boss. If you did everything right, the fourth optional character will join you, and a new dungeon (漂流空間) will be available to you. If credits roll, you are not on the True Route.

Once in the True Route, level up a bit. You'll probably want to have an average party level of 150-200 or so (if you buff characters with clear souls you can get away with an average party level of 100). The final boss hits very hard (remember if you have two IM gauge charges you can shield yourself with :r3:!), but otherwise doesn't need any particular strategy other than what you've already been using for strong enemies.

When ready, go to the level 阿修羅への道 in the post-game dungeon, beat the level boss, (save!), then progress into the area behind it. There will be a scene and you will fight the final boss.

After you've defeated that boss credits will roll and you'll earn this trophy. You can continue your game afterward.

This is one of the most time-consuming trophies in the list. Thankfully you can make progress towards several other trophies at the same time.

This counter resets on every playthrough. Drifts that happen as part of the story do not count towards this total.

You can drift any dungeon as long as it is not the main dungeon (Yoma King Castle), or the extra post-game dungeon, and doesn't have an anchor on it. These dungeons will float by from time to time. Dungeons will come back after they drift away, and drifting a dungeon multiple times counts each time you do it.

To drift a dungeon, enter one of its levels and find the 'Gravity Core'. It will be behind the level boss (which will be nearby the level's save point). If you use Sensation, the white line points to the Gravity Core. Destroy the Core, then escape before time runs out.

If you spend too much 'dungeon time' in the level, it will spontaneously start to drift. 'Dungeon time' accumulates as you take steps, and as you use Sensation (it may also increase after every battle?). The EX monster in a level will usually appear at least once before the dungeon spontaneously drifts, but it's not guaranteed.

I believe you do not get credit towards this trophy if the dungeon starts drifting before you hit the Gravity Core, even if you escape in time.

To get dungeons to show up, rest at the inn for a couple days and then exit. With luck, a dungeon will drift in. If not (which is what usually happens) go back in the inn and repeat. Maybe grab a magazine to flip through while your characters rest.

For trophy purposes, the best way to drift a dungeon is:

  • If there is an Image in the level, get it (progress towards Closet Otaku (Dreamer))
  • If there's a concealed treasure in the level, get it (progress towards Museum Creator (Treasure Mania))
  • If there's a hunting point on the way, you can clear it as well for some points, but this takes both real and 'dungeon time' so you may want to avoid it.
  • Beat the level boss and reveal the Gravity Core.
  • Use Sensation until the level's EX monster appears, or until you've used it about a dozen times. (e.g. 37-> 25 uses left)
  • Smash the Gravity Core.
  • If the EX monster hasn't shown up yet, use Sensation until it does. If you've revealed everything on the map using Sensation takes very little time on the countdown timer (if the hunting point is still hidden you're stuck using a second or two per Sensation use).
  • Once the EX monster aura appears, it is likely to be on the way to the exit. Head towards it and defeat it. (Progress towards Game Maniac (Game Mania))
  • Dash to the exit.

Clearing a dungeon in this manner will net you about 7000-10,000 evaluation points. Doing this a hundred times will take you close to the million you need for Game Maniac (Game Mania).

Before you've obtained Museum Creator (Treasure Mania), choose levels that still have a hidden treasure left. Once you do have the trophy, pick the easiest level, as those will have faster enemy encounters, and are usually smaller, so you can reach the exit with more time on the timer (giving you more points). If you're trying to level your characters for The Strongest Harem (Character Love), though, going to higher-leveled areas might be better...that's a trade-off for you to make depending on how close you are to each goal.

When doing a full clear (as above), you'll probably be able to drift about 5 dungeons an hour. If you dash in-and-out you can perhaps double that figure, but you won't make much progress towards the other trophies.

Count on spending about 20 hours on this and related trophies.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/images/trophies/294/36.jpghttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/36.jpg The Debtor - Spend 3,000,000G at the Shop. (G)(G)

(JPN version: To spend over 1,000,000,000G in the shop.)

NA/EU version: If this version has the Black Market on a New Game+, then follow the below strategy - it will only take a few minutes. Otherwise, strategy TBA.

JPN version: Yes, that's one billion G.

The only realistic way to get enough money to spend that much is to abuse the Black Market (this was added in a patch after release in the Japanese version, possibly because of this trophy?).

Head to the main shop and buy as many Tier 4 weapons as you can (the ones that cost 35,000G each). By post-game you can spend up to around 31 million G in one trip.

Head to the Black Market and convert all these weapons into Black Market points. Each weapon gives 400 points, costing you about 87.5G per point.

Use those points to buy Orihalcum and Life Elixirs. These cost 120 points and sell for 20,000G each back at the store, giving you a return of 167G per point. 99 of each of those items adds up to about 4 million G per trip.

I recommend turning the volume down (the scrolling sound gets annoying), putting on some music, and settling into a pattern. You can earn about 200 million G per hour with this method, but don't spend too long doing this at once to prevent RSI and/or boredom. Intersperse this with dungeon drifting for variety - though if you're going for Space Tourist (Space Traveler) make sure to convert all your cash to BM points via this method before leaving as getting drifted takes off 30% of your gold, which is not good when you have just spent a while accumulating it.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/images/trophies/294/37.jpghttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/294/37.jpg The Strongest Harem (Character love) - Every character's Level is 100 or higher. (G)

Level up all your characters, including the 4 optional ones, to at least level 100 (you don't need to go to level 101). You must be on True Route to recruit the fourth, so don't bother with this until your second playthrough (levels reset each playthrough).

Recruiting Optional Characters:

There are a total of 4 optional characters you can recruit into your party. Here's how to obtain them.

Chapter 2 optional character (also available later)

[spoiler=recruit_miyu]

Miyu:

  • Go to Miyu's shop and pay her more than she asks (paying 13,000 when she asks for 3,000 seems to always work)
  • Rest for a day or two at the inn (or do other stuff, like dungeon delving to pay for your Miyu habit) and an event with Miyu will be available. View it.
  • Repeat the above (pay extra in her workshop, view the event) a total of 3 times. After the third event Miyu will join the party.

If you want, feel free now to abuse poor Miyu by paying her peanuts for future Managraphics (aside from one time to get Managraphic Addict (Managraphic Love)).

Chapter 3+4 optional character

[spoiler=recruit_receit]

Recit:

  • In chapter 3, view the event "気になるあの人"
  • Go to level 3 of the Yoma King Castle, defeat the boss, and there will be a scene when you enter the room behind it. Fight Recit here and win.
  • In chapter 4 there will be three scenes you'll need to view: "Peculiar Incident" "Register Vendetta" and "Keep the Receipt". In the third you'll fight Recit (again) and he'll join.

Chapter 5 optional character

[spoiler=recruit_mizuki]

Mizuki:

  • In chapter 5, view the two optional events "Convenient Setup" (JPN version: "新聞屋さん") and "Mizuki's Mizugi" ("ミズキのミズギ").
  • In the second event you'll fight Mizuki, then she will join the party.

Post-game optional character

[spoiler=recruit_suzaku]

Suzaku:

Just complete the True Route and Suzaku will automatically join the party. (See True End for how to get onto the True Route)

So you've got all the characters, time to level!

Powerleveling:

  • Take an experienced character with high INT and short casting time (Tsubaki, Flonne, or Vio are good, hopefully you had at least one in your party during story mode). Buff their INT with clear souls and meteorites. If you follow the money-making scheme in The Debtor (Shop Owner) you can buy hundreds of clear souls in minutes (possibly JPN version only?).
  • Put three other characters who you want to level in the party with the one above. Outfit them with EXP+ meteorites (also available from the Black Market). These meteorites are cumulative - every one raises the EXP gained for the party by X% (where X depends on where you put it in the character's planet ring).
  • Head to a high-leveled area and spam :triangle: with your lead character. It does area damage and so will kill off groups of enemies quicker than attacking them one at a time.

You can also do the above while drifting dungeons (see Space Activists (Ultimate Player)) as long as you choose a high-leveled part of the dungeon.

This game looks very interesting. I told myself I'd be taking a break from another lengthy RPG though and this looks like it will take the same or more time than what I spent Platinuming White Knight Chronicles (860+ hours), lol.

Nice Guide thus far, though. :p

yoshi girl, don't fight it! This game will be a nice break for you compared to WKC.

If i had to guess, I would say that although probably double the time it takes to plat FFXIII, this one won't be as long and gruelling as WKC. I would say ballpark 400 hours. US version.

BTW, congrats on that WKC platinum!:applause:

400 hours isn't too bad, if that's a modest guess what the average might be. I'll keep an eye on this game for sure, though.

Thanks for the WKC props! :p

I'd say my estimate of 100-150 hours is fairly reasonable, though I'll wait and see how much it takes other people before committing. :)

I just finished it myself in around 100-120 hours, broken down roughly as:

  • 20 hours story mode (1st playthrough)
  • 20 hours story mode (2nd playthrough)
  • 20 hours for 100 drifts - Ultimate Player and friends
  • 10 hours for 50 drifts - Space Traveler
  • 10 hours for money grinding
  • 30 hours time spent screwed up and wondering what I'm doing. :)

(the above are estimates, I wasn't keeping exact records or anything)

If they drop the Black Market from the NA version (which made some aspects of the JPN version very easy, probably to offset the ridiculous trophies), it will add some time to that total, though. If they keep it in you could probably finish it in as little as 80 hours.

Thanks for the WKC props! :p

It's well deserved! I'd consider myself a patient person, but I don't think I have that much fortitude :)

Satoshi42, how about the difficulty setting of the game? I've seen a few people asking which setting they should play on, but otherwise I haven't seen anyone mention much information about easy/normal/hard settings. I know you say that it doesn't affect trophies, but technically it doesn't affect the chance to get trophies in Cross Edge either. However, playing on hard made getting the trophies so much better/easier in the end. Not sure I would have even earned the platinum trophy if I hadn't played on hard. So, I'd really like to know if there are any benefits to playing on a certain setting.

Oh no, is this Cross Edge all over again?!

Damn me and my want for another JRPG platinum :wall:.

lol I am the same way. I think this can be done alot easier than cross edge. I don't think this game has you wandering around aimlessly trying to get a certain cutscene to pop up.

Fingers crossed. I'm going for platinum on this one for sure.

Fear not, the difficulty levels function quite differently than in Cross Edge or Agarest War.

On your first playthrough, you have to play normal mode. On New Game+ you can choose a difficulty (Normal, Hard, or Ultra Hard), but all it does is make enemies stronger. There are no story changes, no extra areas to explore, no new weapons/items, etc. I don't believe it changes enemy drops either.

The only real reason to pick a difficulty above normal is if you're worried you'll get bored on New Game+ (because you'll have all your equips from your first time through making the game quite easy). Staying on normal will make enemy encounters faster, cutting down on grind time, so it depends on whether you prefer a challenge (pick hard or ultra hard) or want to platinum the game quicker (stick with normal).

Difficulty levels weren't in the initial game itself (they were added with a patch along with the Black Market) so I'm not sure if they're even going to be in the NA/EU version. If anyone can confirm this please let me know - still waiting for my copy to ship...

For Chaining, you just hit R1 while they are attacking. If you're unsure, just mash it XD

A friend also pointed this out to me, but it seems they changed the spend 1 Billion G trophy to uh, 3 Million XD Actually, it seems like maybe the one before that was lowered as well, need to check my list sometime, but I think it was 1M instead of 10M.

Thanks for the extra information. My copy of the game finally shipped and should be here shortly. If not today, then definitely Monday. If no one else has mentioned it by then, I will be sure to. If it's how you say in the NA version, I'll probably go with hard. I don't want it to be too easy, and I definitely don't mind it taking a bit longer, as it doesn't seem like it will take that long to get the platinum trophy.

I've updated the guide with English trophy descriptions. I'll fill in the rest once I've had a chance to play through the NA version.

Tried mashing but it didn't work T_T

I've found it much easier to switch when the last attack is a combo, as it gives you more time. If you're using an attack/ability that drains your character's AP to 0, I believe you have to hit :r1: before the character's attack finishes (i.e. there are still damage numbers that appear after you hit the button). I've never had to hit the button more than once to get it to work.

Aamzing thread, i'll be sure to keep using this but is there a mistake with the "See Power of the Cosmos (Damage Hazard)" because when i go to it it dosent show any explanation??

Argh, good catch! It's supposed to say "See Power of Creation (Damage hazard)" (which does have a description). Should be fixed now. Thanks!

(P.S. Welcome to the site!)
