Trine Road Map

Introduction: Welcome to the world of Trine. This is a decent little PSN title about the adventures of a thief, wizard and knight whose lives are (literally) intertwined. Without getting into specifics, you will have the option to control each of these three characters and use their various unique abilities, often in conjunction with each other. The basic game-play is your typical 2D side-scrolling action title with some intermittent puzzle solving. The road to the platinum is quick and pretty much consists of two play-throughs, collectible hunting and a handful of “skill” trophies (i.e. perform this task certain number of times or do these kind of kills, etc). Most of the trophies are incredibly easy, especially with a collectible walkthrough, but there is one that takes some skill and patience, namely, the “Better than Developers!” trophy, which has you complete the last level of the game without dying on very hard difficulty. Fortunately, there is a guide available on this site written by TriangleOffense. It’s full of useful tips and video walkthroughs. Here is a link: Trine Trophy Guide. Now, onto the road map proper:

Step 1: First play-through on easy difficulty. Obviously, you can choose a harder difficulty if you find easy too boring, but keep in mind you’ll have to go through on very hard anyhow. To make your very hard run easier, I recommend that you follow the collectible guide to find all the experience in all the levels. This way, when you go to play very hard, you can just fly through the levels without having to deal with enemies just to get to a collectible. Of course, the trade off is that you won’t be able to experience all that this title has to offer you.

Step 2: Second play-through on very hard difficulty. After you beat the game (on any difficulty), very hard difficulty becomes available. If you start a new game, you can choose this option, but you will lose all of the collectibles and experience you’ve aquired. The good news is that you do not need to start a new game. Instead, just change the difficulty to very hard in the game options and then go to level select. You can choose the order you want to progress through the levels, but for convenience, you may want to just start on level 1. This way, if you quit the game, you can just come back and continue like you normally would.

Step 3: Mop up the remaining trophies. If you’ve followed my advise thus far, you should have all the level/game completion trophies. All that’s left are the various skill trophies. There are quite of few of these, but the trophy guide has nice details on easy ways to get them.
