Scrapdaddy
Gold Star Mission Guide !!THERE WILL BE SPOILERS!! Hey Everyone, below is a list of all 103 Gold Star missions that are in Toy Box mode. Once you’ve completed a mission, the description changes to what you had to do to unlock that star. I’ve listed all of them with the mission name first and the COMPLETED in-game description second. For the ones that are a little more complicated I've added in a more detailed description after the in-game one. Amateur Bug Collector You’ve rescued 3 caterpillars. See info under Master... Amateur Ghost Sucker You’ve captured 3 ghosts with the lightning rod. See info under Master... Amateur Haunter You’ve possessed 3 townspeople. See info under Master... Amateur Kicker You’ve dropkicked 5 townspeople. See info under Pro... Amateur Photographer You took 1000 points worth of pictures. See info under Pro... Apprentice Painter You’ve painted 3 buildings. See info under Master... Barrel Buster You’ve mastered the barrel buster trick. This is done in a car and I did all the car star missions at the same time, one after the other at same place. Go to the portion of the stunt track with the "ramp races" NOT the "trick park". At the start of this section you'll have the customization device directly on your left. You are looking for the blue ramp with the blue boxes stacked on it, should be roughly in the center of this top area between the starting points for the actual races. Now that you know what you are aiming for, hit the gas and aim for either corner of the ramp, you don't want to hit the boxes as they will break your combo. Once you make your attempt and land way down below, you will see a large mural "painted" right in front of you a short way in the distance. Hit the gas and drive right into this mural to teleport right back to where we started. How considerate! Now this specific move is 2 barrel rolls followed by a spin. The game chimes when you complete a single move so besure to listen for 2 chimes on the rolls before starting the spin. A barrel roll is performed by holding and pressing left or right on the left stick and a spin is done by holding and pressing left or right on the left stick. All the moves have to be completed in succession before you hit the ground. Big Spender You’ve spent 30,000 gold Bone Orchard You’ve mastered the bone orchard trick See Barrel Blaster for general tips. Now this specific move is 2 spins followed by a roll. The game chimes when you complete a single move so besure to listen for 2 chimes on the spins before starting the roll. A spin is performed by holding and pressing left or right on the left stick and a roll is done by holding and pressing left or right on the left stick. All the moves have to be completed in succession before you hit the ground. Breaking Boards You’ve smashed 25 crates or barrels Cow in the Well You’ve thrown a cow in the well Cow Tipper You’ve shoulder charged 10 cows If you've forgot, a shoulder charge is performed by pressing while moving. Customizer of the Future You’ve collected all of the customizations for Zurg’s Spaceport You'll get this once you find the prize capsule that contains the last building customization piece from Zurg's set. You'll probably have this before getting "Western Collector". If you search everywhere, you should come across all of them eventually. This includes destroying the 3 Zurg boxes. Demolitions Expert You’ve startled 20 townspeople with TNT Go to town, grab a barrel and toss it into a crowd. Should only need 5 or 6 tosses. Dragon Rally You’ve completed all the Dragon races First off you have to be riding the dragon to open these races and you unlock him after going through the big tree in the Enchanted Glen. Now as you are riding around you'll see pink light beacons that indicate the starting points. There are 3 starting points and they are located: by the pink bear in the Enchanted Glen, generally in the middle of town at the "T" intersection and the last one is in Zurg's Spaceport. Each starting point has MULTIPLE races that you unlock for clearing each race with at least a bronze. You don't get to choose which race you start on, it will automatically cycle to the next one when you get a bronze or better. You'll know when to stop when you get back to the first race you did at that starting point. All the races you need to obtain at least a bronze on are listed below: The Big Mushroom Coin Race Dragon’s Breath Coin’s Race Fairy Wing Folly Race Fireballs-A-Flying Coin Race Dragon Run Coin Race Treasure Trove Coin Race Fuzzy Dragon Coin Race Crazy Dragon Coin Race Spaceport Coin Race Enchanted Crate Coin Race Floating Fury Coin Race Space Dragon Coin Race Enchanted Customizer You’ve collected all of the customizations for the Enchanted Glen You'll get this once you find the prize capsule that contains the last building customization piece from the Glen set. You'll probably have this before getting "Western Collector". If you search everywhere, you should come across all of them eventually. This includes destroying the 3 rainbow chests. Enchanted Sheriff You’ve completed all of the Enchanted Glen missions Simply complete all the missions given by the pink bear. Keep in mind that you can open the mission window with the "select" button and then press to get mission details. I'm not 100% sure, but the 2 Merlin missions may count toward this as well. You should unlock his clothes after going thru big tree for the first time. Just grab a townsperson, toss them into the tailor and build Merlin. When he comes out just hit to talk to him. Engine City You’ve customized 5 buildings with the engine roof You should find this prize capsule in the "ramp races" portion of the stunt track. Once you have it, just stand out front of the building and press to open the customize screen. You are looking for the icon that looks like a head over a roof and it will only light up on buildings that you can roof mount objects. Once you find the suitable buildings just select the chrome engine object from the list. The buildings with customizable roofs are: Barber Barn Hat Shop Jail Muffin Shop Post Office Saloon Engine of Destruction You’ve destroyed 50 objects with the Dragon Run around shooting and aim for crates and barrels. Farmer in the Well You’ve throw all the farm animals in the well You just need a cow, pig and chicken. Gone Wanderin’ You’ve traveled a long distance on foot Will unlock naturally way before you are done with the game. Green Thumb You’ve grown 1 of every vegetable After you purchase and build the Garden object for $1000, you'll get a mission from Slinky Dog asking you to grow a veggie. Hop in and blast those moles with your balls. Edited July 17, 2010 by Scrapdaddy Completed
Scrapdaddy
Grow Your Own Gold You’ve grown and mined a gold vein After you purchase and build the Goo object for $2500, hit the button on the green side and out comes the green goo. Now find the closest gold vein on the ground and throw the goo at it. Hit to mine with the pick. Hang Time You’ve mastered the Hang Time trick Just launch the white car off a ramp at full speed and you should get it without trying. If for some reason you are having problems then just go follow my tip for Barrel Blaster and you will get it there. Haunted Explorer You’ve found all the prize capsules inside of Sid’s Haunted House You'll get this once you find the last prize capsule in the haunted house area. You'll have this before getting "Western Collector". If you search everywhere, you should come across all of them eventually. Having a Ball You’ve hit 30 things with the ball I swear that it says only "30 things", but I know I threw WAY more than 30 balls at all kinds of stuff before getting this one. I guess I don't know exactly what "30 things" count toward this, so just keep launching balls like a madman as you run around. EDIT: I think I've finally narrowed this down to townspeople. High Roller You’ve master the High Roller trick See Barrel Blaster for general tips. Now this specific move is just 3 barrel rolls in a row. The game chimes when you complete a single move so besure to listen for 3 chimes on the rolls before landing. A roll is performed by holding and pressing left or right on the left stick. All the moves have to be completed in succession before you hit the ground. Knock It Off You’ve clobbered 10 mission givers Find Ham, Stinky Pete or whomever you like and just shoulder charge them with . Lariat You’ve mastered the Lariat trick See Barrel Blaster for general tips. Now this specific move is 2 flips followed by a spin. The game chimes when you complete a single move so besure to listen for 2 chimes on the flips before starting the spin. A flip is performed by holding and pressing up or down on the left stick and a spin is done by holding and pressing left or right on the left stick. All the moves have to be completed in succession before you hit the ground. Long Haul You’ve explored in a vehicle Will come naturally while driving around. Make a Wish You’ve thrown a townsperson in the well Master Bug Collector You’ve rescued 10 caterpillars People are turned to caterpillars by the Pixies that are unlocked when you open the Enchanted Glen level. An easy way to do this is when the pink bear sends you a message saying the town is under attack, go do something else for awhile. When you finally do get to town, pretty much everything is turned to a rainbow caterpillar so just break out your fairy wand (with the strawberry top) and press in front of everything until they are all back to normal. If you're antsy or your town is never attacked, you can just redo the mission where you run through the big tree. Climb back to the top and step on the tree hatch. You will then be warped back to the first room where you have to save 4 caterpillars to unlock the dragon's cage. Do so, ride the dragon out to the exit and then repeat the mission 1 more time. That will give you the ten caterpillars you need for Master Bug Collector. It only takes a minute or so to re-run that section so you're looking at 5 minutes tops. Master Builder You’ve built 10 buildings Just purchase buildings from the store and select a location. You can only build one at a time. Master Pixie Torcher You’ve torched 10 pixies with the Dragon Pixies are the fairies with strawberry heads that come out after you open the Enchanted Glen. You'll have this shortly after getting the Dragon. Master Re-animator You’ve created 10 zombie townspeople Once you have the capsules for the 2 zombies, make yourself an army of them out of the townspeople. Master Sculptor You’ve freed 10 townspeople from stone People are turned to stone by the Gargoyles that are unlocked when you open Sid's level. An easy way to do this is when Rex sends you a message saying the town is under attack, go do something else for awhile. When you finally do get to town, pretty much everything is turned to stone so just break out your lightning rod and press in front of everything until they are all back to normal. If you're antsy or your town is never attacked, you can also carry people into Sid's level and let them get turned to stone there. Master Shrinker You’ve made 10 things smaller Grab the purple goo and throw it at a townsperson. Repeat. Master Sorcerer You’ve completed all of the wizard’s missions See Enchanted Sheriff for specifics on how to create Merlin. He only has 2 missions and they are "Lost Book of Spells" and "Miss Spelled". You'll complete them both in minutes. Scrapdaddy
Sheriff of the Future You’ve Completed all of the Zurg’s Spaceport missions Simply complete all the missions given by Zurg. Keep in mind that you can open the mission window with the "select" button and the press to get mission details. After doing all of Zurg's missions go see Stinky Pete and he should have one more that will be the final one before this unlocks. Space Deputy You’ve zapped 5 bandits with the Laser Pistol Space Explorer You’ve found all the prize capsules inside the Spaceport You'll get this once you find the last prize capsule from Zurg's spaceport. Space Sheriff You’ve zapped 10 Bandits with the Laser Pistol Spinner You’ve mastered the Spinner trick See Barrel Blaster for general tips. Now this specific move is 2 spins. The game chimes when you complete a single move so be sure to listen for 2 chimes on the spins before you land. A spin is done by holding and pressing left or right on the left stick. All the moves have to be completed in succession before you hit the ground. Spooky Customizer You’ve found all the Haunted House Customizations You'll get this once you find the prize capsule that contains the last building customization piece from Sid's set. You'll probably have this before getting "Western Collector". If you search everywhere, you should come across all of them eventually. This includes destroying the 5 knight chess pieces. Spooky Sheriff You’ve completed all of Sid’s Haunted House missions Simply complete all the missions given by Rex. Keep in mind that you can open the mission window with the "select" button and the press to get mission details. I'm not 100% sure, but the ghost pirate mission may count toward this as well. You should unlock his clothes while playing through the game. Make the pirate, then grab a ghost with your lightning rod and use it on the pirate you made. He will now become the ghost pirate and will tell you about his buried treasure. Just run over and press to dig it up. It is in Sid's level and as you enter it is generally in the far back left corner. It is marked by a skull and crossbones "X" on the ground. Strongman You’ve carried a heavy object for a long distance Just pick something big up (like a cow) and start walking Stylist You’ve given 10 haircuts Should come naturally while doing the Pict-O-Matic missions. Swimming Lessons You’ve thrown 5 townspeople into the water Totally Interactive You’ve pressed every button on every building The required buildings are: Barber Shop Town Hall Sawmill Flower Shop Hat Shop Newspaper Saloon Bank Tailor Blacksmith Candy Shop School Hotel Post Office Muffin Shop Triple Flipper You’ve mastered the Triple Flipper trick See Barrel Blaster for general tips. Now this specific move is 3 flips. The game chimes when you complete a single move so be sure to listen for 3 chimes on the flips before you land. A flip is done by holding and pressing up or down on the left stick. All the moves have to be completed in succession before you hit the ground. Triple Flusher You’ve flushed the outhouse 3 times As you enter Sid's area, the outhouse is the blue building on the left side of the house, a little past the crypt entrance. Find the switch and press it 3 times. Under the Sea You’ve jumped into the water 10 times Wand Waver You’ve given wings to 10 things Break out your fairy wand and run through town pressing on all the townspeople and the will sprout little pink fairy wings. Welcome Wagon You have 5 aliens in your town Will come naturally during play. Western Collector You’ve collected all the capsules in Woody’s Roundup This is awarded for collecting EVERY capsule in the Toy Box from all the locations. There are a ton of them but most are in the open. By games end, you'll probable only be missing 10 max. I was being very systematic checking everywhere and by the end of the game I swore I had them all. It turned out I was missing 5. Here were my last ones: During the mission in Zurg's base you need to use a cannon 3 times to open the exit. In the circular room that looks like a main command center the cannon is on the opposite side of the control panel. Head to the cannon and walk behind it along the outside rail for this one. Next, in the Haunted Mansion after opening the the first door with the 3 locks you'll be looking down a long hallway and need to make some jumps. After the very first gap you should see a handle on the right wall, walk up to it and press and hold then push the wall back for this one. Also in the Haunted Mansion, you get to a section that has a dining room table and two switches that you can step on to open pictures. In the adjacent room that has the stairs there is another ground switch and it opens the cabinet for another one. The last two were all in the same portion of the stunt track. First off, while heading to the stunt track from Slinky's farm, take the left path. This will lead you to what I'm calling the "ramp races" section. Straight ahead you'll find a white unicorn up on a podium and the area you want for both of these is the opening just to the right of the unicorn. Head in and you will pass a short blue ramp on the left and a rock pillar thing on your right. Down the hill you'll see another blue ramp on the left and a dirt ramp on the right. Head right and hit the jump. When you land turn to the right and you should see the tops of the two arches that you would have driven under if you had initially gone left. It is on top of the arch. Now for the last one keep heading down the track and when you get close to the bottom, you should see a "U" shaped dirt ramp on the right. Slowly drive up the right side of this ramp into the rocky area on top and you will be facing a small wooden sign. Just over the hill is this final capsule. If after gettin all those and you still don't have it then be sure you got them all from the Candy Store. Keep tossing balls at the switch button at the top until you only get coins. A few times for me the button got stuck and didnt do anything. If that happens just go press a button on another building and come back and keep going until you only get coins. And finally, if you are still at a loss for this star then refer to this checklist and find the item(s) you are missing. Then search this walkthrough using the unique ID tags for your missing item(s) for the locations of everything. Scrapdaddy
Winner’s Circle You’ve attempted 20 Bullseye races just keep doing races until you have it. You can do a race over and over if you like. I'd suggest Ring Rally Race in the outskirts of the main portion of town. It only takes 40 seconds to complete so you'll be done in about 20 minutes. Woodland Explorer You’ve found all of the prize capsules by the rainbows You'll get this once you find the last prize capsule from the Enchanted Glen. You'll have this before getting "Western Collector". If you search everywhere, you should come across all of them eventually. Zurg Bot Destroyer You’ve destroyed 10 Zurg Bots Zurg Bot Smasher You’ve destroyed 3 Zurg Bots Edited July 17, 2010 by Scrapdaddy Completed
starcrunch061
FYI: I can confirm that Merlin is necessary for the "Enchanted Sheriff" gold star. However, I didn't need to complete both of Merlin's missions (only the first one was necessary). I don't know if the ghost pirate is necessary, but I can also confirm that you must complete the penguin's abominable snowman picture to get the "spooky sheriff" gold star. Yeah I think you have to complete a certain number of missions from that area's mission "tree". So different people will get it after completing different missions, just depends on the order someone does something. For example I got my "enchanted sheriff" without doing the "Ogre" mission from Lotso. Edited July 26, 2010 by Scrapdaddy
starcrunch061
One other thing: I'm pretty sure that for the "Winner's Circle" Gold Star, you can just enter a race, and then choose to start the mission over. This counts as an attempt. I needed some bullseye runs, so I ran some of the races, but I saved about 7 or 8 this way. It's not a huge time saver, but it's something. powderdomis
I only need 1 more gold star and it is Western Collector. I've gone to all the obvious spots. I have all the Gold Stars for the Spaceport, Haunted Mansion, and Enchanted Glen. This makes me believe the capsules I need are out in the open. I have spent about 7 hours systematically going over every part of the level and not being able to find it. I found the ones that Scrapdaddy talked about being his last couple and I now have those as well (the racetrack ones). I've done the racecar bowling and got the 2 capsules on the track there. I can't seem to find any other capsules anywhere. Can anyone post any of off the wall and of course out of the open capsules that I might be able to go and give a look at. This is the only thing preventing me from finishing this game with a Platinum and I don't seem to be able to find these stupid capsules. Thanks for anyones help. The only other thing i haven't been able to do was Gold Medal on every race or games in Bo Peeps Area. I didn't get gold on the time limit race, and I haven't been able to get 30m on the cactus field goal. I'm guessing these aren't holding a capsule if I complete, if so then that might be my problem. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks again. Edited August 21, 2010 by powderdomis
MikeKeese
For Winner's Circle, after starting the race, you can abort and it still counts. That will really lessen the time for that Gold Star.

Don't bother trying to get golds on the races, you only get coins and never capsules.

Scrapdaddy
Some people have experienced a little bit of lag while waiting for this one to pop. Save your game quit out to the main playstation menu and restart the game. Run around and paint all the buildings red and if it still doesn't pop, go complete a mission or 2. A fast mission to run through is to redo the enchanted tree level. It only takes about 2 or 3 minutes to run straight through it.
Vorlon
I have 102 gold stars and all items from the checklist, even found one which was not mentioned in the checklist. (eskimo parka hat). After finding the last missing collectible in the spaceport I got the space explorer and customizer of the future stars but not the western explorer star. I then saved and quit to the game bord. When I reentered toybox mode, nothing happened. Should I have completed the space port level? Is all now lost? PS: maybe there is another reason because I loaded a backup save and did the collectibles in another order and still did not get the western explorer star. Did you actually physically check each item description or just count entries? Let me re-iterate that the items from the mystery egg machine DO NOT count so I didn't bother to list all of those. The reason I bring this up is because you may have yet another mystery egg capsule that I did not have and your count would be off. There were also pre-order items that I don't have either but they also DO NOT count. Read the walkthru for the haunted house and the stunk park. those are the most commonly missed capsules. Each section is relatively small.

As I have the stars for haunted house etc, it can't be one of them that I'm missing. I'll have to recheck everything. Maybe I made a mistake.
