Roadmap

***100% Trophy Completion Is No Longer Possible As Servers Have Shut Down***

Introduction

In Top Gun, players will enroll in the Top Gun Academy as Maverick with their Radio Information Officer Goose to go up against the best for Top Gun honors. Following graduation, players will fly into the danger zone with fellow US Navy pilots over the Indian Ocean, where they will shoot down enemy fighter jets, defend and attack bases and engage in large-scale dogfight battles. Top Gun also features five multiplayer modes, allowing up to sixteen players to go up against the best and battle it out online. The trophies for the most part are straight forward and aren't too much of a hassle once you get the controls of the game down.

Walkthrough

Step 1: Playthrough Single Player Campaign Once With The F14 Plane

- Play through all the missions in the single player campaign with the first (and at this point only) unlocked plane, the F14. You must play the prologue (1 missions), Top Gun Academy (3 missions) & Indian Ocean (7 missions) to completition. When you finish them all, you will be rewarded with Jester's Dead, Close But No Cigar, & You Can Be My Wing Man Anytime.... While playing, you also want to aim to try to get I feel the need... & Gutsiest move I've ever saw....

Step 2: Replay The Last "Top Gun Academy" Mission With F14 Plane

- After completing the game, go back to the final mission in the Top Gun Academy with the F14. This time when you get to Viper, it will not go to a cut scene when his health reaches a certain point and you will be able to defeat him. This will net you Top Gun.

Step 3: Playthrough The Entire Game Again With Each Plane

- You want to restart at the Prologue and select a different plane to do the game runthrough with at this time. Finish the game with that plane, then restart and do it again with another plane. There are 5 planes total that you must runthrough with (as you finished the game originally with the F14). They are F16, F/A-18, Su-27, MiG-29, & MiG-31. Once you finish the final mission of the game with the final plane, you will be awarded The Pattern is Full.

Step 3: Play Online *No Longer Possible As Servers Have Shut Down*

- Go online and play in a few multiplayer games. Your first step is to die (yes, you read that right). Enter into any multiplayer game and proceed to run yourself into the ground/moutain/whatever so that you die and repeat 10 times. This will net you Goosed. After that, play in a Death Match game and make sure you are the first person to get a kill and maintain being in first place throughout the remainder of the game. This will net you No Points For Second Place. After that, keep playing and killing enemies until you've gotten 99 kills, which will award you Target Rich Enviroment.

Step 4: Do The Hidden Flight Runs

- There are 3 hidden flight runs set up throughout the game in different maps. They must be completed from start to finish without leaving the run or crashing (you have to restart them if you do either). Go and complete each of the runs to get You're Dangerous & That’s Right, I am Dangerous.

Step 5: Clean-up

- You should have everything at this point, but if not, go back using Mission Select to get anything you are missing.

Awarded after 3 afterburner boosts.

To do an afterburner boost, you need to hold down :r2: until you your rear boosters start to open and the fire comes out more, then release it and immediately re-hit and hold :r2:. Do this 3 times and the trophy will be yours!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/672/02.jpg Gutsiest move I ever saw... http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

First plane locked onto with missiles when in CFI and then successfully killed.

To switch to CFI mode, hit the :circle: button. Once you are in it, lock on to a plane and fire your missiles at it. Once you kill it from missiles launched while in CFI mode, the trophy will pop!

If you are having problems, start a multiplayer game with a boosting partner (can find one in the Trophy Boosting Thread) and select "short range missiles" for your missile type. Once you start the game, fly behind them (have them slowdown with :l2: so you can catch them easier), make sure you are as straight as possible behind them and once you get within 8000-9000 ft, hit :circle:. After a few seconds you should lock on to them, so just unload your 4 missiles and you should kill them.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/672/03.jpg Jester's Dead http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Jester is shot down at any point by either you or your wingman.

During the second mission of the Top Gun Academy, you will have to take down a plane without the help of your locking on abilities (so manual aiming gun basically or wingman only). The plane you are trying to take down is Jester. You need to "kill" him in order to move on in the stage. Once he is "dead", the trophy will pop.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/672/04.jpg Close But No Cigar http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Mission 4 (1st playthrough - Viper wins).

In the final mission of Top Gun Academy, you will have to take on Viper in the final part of it. During your first playthough of the mission, keep attacking him to dwindle down his health. Once you get him low enough, a cut scene will play (it's pretty stupid). After it finishes playing, the trophy will pop.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/672/05.jpg Top Gun http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Mission 4 (2nd playthrough - Player wins)

After you complete the game, go back to the final mission of the Top Gun Academy and play through it again with the F14 (or whatever plane you beat the game & that stage with originally). This time when you get to Viper, it will not go to a cut scene when his health gets low, but will allow you to defeat him. Once you do, the trophy will pop!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/672/10.jpg Target Rich Environment http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png *No Longer Possible As Servers Have Shut Down*

99 kills in Multiplayer (with Missiles or Guns).

You just have to get 99 kills in multiplayer games for this trophy. As stated in the description, you have to kill them with missiles or guns (NOT combined, it has to be 99 missile kills or 99 gun kills). The trophy is cumulative so it can be done through multiple games. If you are having problems getting it, you can use the Trophy Boosting Thread to find boosting partners.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/672/11.jpg Goosed http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Rewarded for more than 10 gratuitous deaths in a single multiplayer match.

Start an online multiplayer match (doesn't matter what type) and kill yourself by running into the ground/bridge/water/etc 10 times for the trophy to pop. The easiest way to get this is to do it during the warmup process before the game. Simply create a new game with someone else and then keep dying without starting the game until it pops.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/672/06.jpg You can be my wingman anytime... http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

Complete all the Indian Ocean missions.

You must first finish the Prologue & Top Gun Academy parts to unlock the Indian Ocean Missions. In the Indian Ocean section, there are 7 missions you must complete in it. Once you finish the final mission, the trophy will pop.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/672/12.jpg No Points For Second Place http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png *No Longer Possible As Servers Have Shut Down*

Be the first to get the star in a multiplayer match, and hold on to it until the bitter end.

Easiest method to obtain this trophy is to start an online deathmatch game, get the first kill so that you "get the star" and keep killing everyone else to stay in first place until the game is over. If you are having problems getting it, you can use the Trophy Boosting Thread to find boosting partners.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/672/07.jpg The Pattern is Full http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_gold.png

Complete all of Prologue, Top Gun Academy and Indian Ocean with all planes (any difficulty).

This one is a bit of a grind and will take sometime. To make it slightly easier and less of a headache, make sure you select "Easy" difficulty when going through the stages. There are 6 total planes (F14, F16, F/A-18, Su-27, MiG-29, & MiG-31) and you need to beat all the levels in the Single Player Campaign with each plane. Once you complete all levels with each of the 6 planes, the trophy will pop.

Secret Trophies

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/672/08.jpg You're Dangerous (B)

Complete any one of the three hidden flight runs.

See "That's Right, I am Dangerous"

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/672/09.jpg That’s Right, I am Dangerous (S)

Complete all 3 of the hidden runs.

There are 3 "hidden run" sections hidden in different maps in the game. You must make it through them without crashing & without leaving the run. Easiest way to get them is to create a multiplayer game with 4 players and 3 saved slots so you will be by yourself in warmup mode and can basically free-fly wherever without interuptions. Here are the locations of all 3 "hidden runs".

HIDDEN FLIGHT RUN #1

LOCATION: GLACIER

Instructions: There are actually two routes here and either or both will count for completion. In the western face of the mountain in the far northwest of Glacier you'll see a gaping ice cave high up. Fly into this cave, through the mountain, and emerge on the other side for the trophy. There's a second ice cave entrance immediately after this one that follows a longer path through the mountain range and will deposit you at the southern end of Glacier. Either of these paths individually counts as completing the Glacier run and will activate the trophy, but you might as well do both just to be safe.

HIDDEN FLIGHT RUN #2

LOCATION: DESERT

Instructions: At the southwestern edge of the S-shaped canyon running through Desert there is an arch bridge across the canyon. Fly above the road but below the arch, going across the length of the bridge.

HIDDEN FLIGHT RUN #3

LOCATION: SEA

Instructions: Start by going to the northwestern corner of Sea. To the east of you you'll see five oil rigs. We'll number them in order from west to east, Oilrig 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. For this run, ignore oilrig #3 (the southernmost central one). You'll want to come at Oilrig 1 from the west, fly under its supports, and then fly the most level, straight line you can through the supports of Oilrigs 1, 2, 4, and 5. You won't be able to do a completely straight line as these four rigs aren't perfectly aligned, but just keep it as straight as you can. Best way to do this is try to keep as stable an altitude as possible and use mostly your rudder to change heading. Don't bank unless you have to. After you emerge from beneath Oilrig 5, the final trophy should activate. (Note: Some people, including myself, have had the trophy pop while coming out from under the 4th oilrig as long as you are flying fast through them, so you might not even need to get the 5th one)

(HUGE thanks to CaptFrost for finding the remaining hidden runs!!!)

It can be done in any multiplayer mode, I just found deathmatch to be the easiest and gives you the most leeway for error towards it. You can even start the count by killing yourself during the warmup (countdown) before it starts. I changed the wording to reflect that.

Edit: Actually you can get it purely in the warmup phase without even starting a game.

Yep, I just discovered that. Created a TDM game and ran myself into the ground ten times before starting it and Goosed popped up.

1) Glacier Stage - Entrance/Exit is near the east side of the map near the middle (it's a small cave entrance into a tunnel). You need to go through that first tunnel, come out the other side and in the mountain range across from that there is another entrance to another tunnel that you must go through as well. Come out the other side of that one and the flight run is complete.

Negative, Ghostrider! I just did this starting from the northwestern end, and the trophy popped as soon as I emerged from the northernmost, shortest tunnel. I continued on and flew the longer tunnel your directions say to start from but apparently that doesn't activate the trophy.

Also, Akuma, before doing this I flew under all the oil rigs multiple times in different orders and I never got anything for it, so apparently the rigs aren't it. I also flew through the canyon on the desert on multiple routes and nothing.

FYI these can be done in multiplayer. I wanted to fly around without enemies and objectives bothering me so I created an unranked Top Gun match, lowered the player slots to 4, and made 3 slots private. Did the tunnel during the warmup and it unlocked.

See I did that too and it didn't pop the first time, but when I turned around and went back through the caves the other way, it popped when I exited the second tunnel, so it must be semi-glitchy itself. Also, the doing it in multiplayer is how to do it. I had that in there and deleted it as I believe the other hidden trophy is to find all three, but since I couldn't confirm it, I deleted that info (and the multiplayer trick as well obviously), so I'll re-add that.

I also tried the oil rigs and went in a complete "S" pattern starting with the islands, under the rigs in order, back over the islands, under the rigs and finished at the lower islands (thinking maybe it was a HUGE run) and nothing either. I have searched the other two maps, especially the canyon (spent 2 hours doing sweeps east/west & north/south while holding L1 to go as slow as possible) and can not find another enterance to a tunnel. There has to be other ones someplace, but damned if I'm able to find them yet. :(

The Target Rich Environment trophy appears to be glitched, at least for me. As of this posting I have at least 100 kills in unranked, exactly 120 in ranked, and the trophy hasn't unlocked.

Well I'm happy I'm not the only one since I know I have over 150 kills in non-ranked thus far (I've done 10 death matches in a row) and nothing either. Was just getting ready to start doing the ranked runs, but now after seeing you're still having problems, it might be just that... Can anyone else confirm as well that they are having problems with this one?

Question though, did you use different planes while doing the different multiplayer games? I'm wondering if maybe it has to be done all with the same plane type as I know my runs consisted of using a different plane on each map (while still trying to find out what the hidden ones were)...

Ditto, I've gone over the Desert and the level with the oil rigs with a fine tooth comb and I can't find another hidden route. I have NO idea where to look next. :/

I also tried following the power lines on the desert from start to finish as closely as I could, both ways, but that doesn't appear to be one either. Argh.

Yeah, that's what I thought it was, just being unranked, so once I was positive I'd done at least 100 on unranked, I switched to ranked and played for a few hours last night until my ranked kills were at 120. Still no dice.

As far as planes, I used a mix of planes while playing unranked, but I was using the Tomcat only on ranked, so if it was that it should've unlocked as I've got in the neighborhood of 150 kills with the F-14 by now if you count both ranked and unranked.

All I can think of is:

1) The description is unclear and you have to get 99 kills with ONLY missiles or ONLY guns, not a combination as it sounds like it means.

2) It's glitched and doesn't save multiplayer kills so you have to get all 99 in one sitting. (I almost did this last night but at about 70 kills I started getting booted from every game I entered, so I had to restart the game)

3) It's glitched and just flat out won't unlock until/unless they patch it.

1 and 2 can probably be tested simultaneously in a private room without much difficulty if anyone wants to get together for an hour or so and see if we can make this trophy pop up or at least rule out some possibilities.

A-ha, that's that mystery solved. Thanks Akuma. Guess I'll keep playing, the trophy must be right around the corner by now. It must have to be ranked though, because I've got somewhere around 230 or 240 kills between Ranked and Unranked so unless the game's counter somehow missed counting a few games I would HAVE to have it by now since you'd have it no matter what by 198 kills.

Nope, that's not it, it's glitched. I just hit 209 kills on ranked, and no trophy. Not possible for 99 of those to not be with either missiles or guns.

Akuma, did you do 99 in one sitting maybe? That's the only other thing I can think of. I'm going to try and do that now... hope nothing happens before I hit 99.

EDIT: I just hit 99 kills in one session 3 kills before the end of my last game, and the trophy popped in the middle of the match (thanks top_gun999 for being #99 :p). It looks like that may be it. Apparently the counter resets every time you quit the game. AWESOME.

EDIT 2: Here's the image for the site if you don't have it already.

I've located the second secret route! Fly under the supports of the bridge in the southwestern end of the canyon on Desert, and fly the length of the bridge and emerge on the other side. Did it on my EU account and the trophy popped as soon as I had crossed the bridge.

I outsmarted myself, I thought of it yesterday but it was so obvious I was sure that couldn't be it. I figured what do I have to lose, and tried it tonight. That was it. Gah.

One more to go. I'm fairly certain it's gotta be on Sea... I went over every single spot of Coast and I see NOTHING you can fly "through" aside from one pier where you can fly under a set of back to back loading cranes. I did that and nothing happened though.

EDIT: Okay, I have no idea where the third is. I went all over Coast and Sea, did more oilrig runs, flew under all the little blue arch things on Coast... I don't know what else there is to do. I checked Desert again, can't find anything more. I tried doing a low level run both ways through the canyon on Glacier, but got nothing. I'm out of ideas.

EDIT 2: All right, I've got a theory, and it seems to be standing up to the evidence. I think the two tunnels on Glacier are two separate routes. I just tried running each individually WITHOUT running the other right after, and the trophy popped for each. I think the two Glacier tunnels and the Desert bridge ARE the three hidden routes, and the other hidden trophy is for something else other than doing all 3.

It definatly did not reset for me. I did it over a 2 day period just playing ranked matches, and I quit the game several times. One thing I will note is that I used the same plane and loadout everytime. SO maybe short range missle and medium etc have different counters.

I don't think it's that, either... my favorite loadout's become the Tomcat with Sparrows, but I'd gotten more than 100 kills with that LONG before I got the trophy.

Who knows. :/

Maybe the damn thing's just glitched and whatever finally sets it off is random. I didn't finally get it till about 380-something kills. 264 ranked, about 120 unranked.

so if its not the 3 routes maybe its finish a match ionline with all 6 planes maybe? has anyone done it yet.

No, but I'll make that the next thing I try.

I was also thinking it could be hitting whatever the maximum rank is online, but I hope that's not it... I've already played a LOT and I'm only just approaching Commander rank. If it goes all the way up to Admiral or something crazy, yeesh.

Okay guys, I talked to a player who has the other hidden trophy. It IS doing all 3 routes, and the third route is the oil rigs. Apparently there's a specific way to do them. Going to see if I can get the details from him later.

I wasn't able to get back in contact with him, but now I don't need to, I just figured it out on my own. Go to Sea, and fly through the supports of the northernmost four rigs in as straight a line as possible. You can ignore all the other rigs including the fifth central rig among the 5 northern ones that would cause you to have to veer way south. You don't have to go through them in any particular direction, just go through in as straight a line as possible. See the thread I just made for exact details.

The trophy is a silver, called That's Right, I am Dangerous. Graphic is below.

Oops... I made a mistake in my description for Run #3. Where it says "We'll number them in order from east to west, Oilrig 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5" that should say "We'll number them in order from west to east, Oilrig 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5."

Sorry for any confusion.

I cant do the oil rigs part. Im not really understanding how you guys know where it is north south east or west since there is no compass.. I tried both of the sets of oil rigs and neither of them worked. DOes someone here have a dazzle or a pvr that can show us how to do the oil rigs?
