PowerPyx
Introduction: Completing all of the tactical challenges will earn you several weapon attachments, as well as the 'Master Tactician' Trophy (Complete 100% of the tactical challenges). There are a total of 12 missions. Each one has 3 tactical challenges. If you die after completing a challenge you do not have to do it again, it will stay saved after the first completion! You can do the tactical challenges over multiple playthroughs or in Mission Selection. The chosen difficulty does not matter (only for the challenges that are tied to a difficulty - Mission 4, 6, 9, 10). You do not have to reach the end of the mission to make the tactical challenge count. You can drop out after reaching the next checkpoint. The enemies have the same motion pattern on every difficulty. The video walkthroughs were captured on Elite Difficulty (Solo) with 0 deaths. Mission 1 - "Nimble Guardian" - Difficulty 1/5: 1) Express Train: During the ambush at the cog rail station, kill all soldiers in 60 seconds Tactic: Throw Motion Sensors to make enemies visible and shoot them through cover with a strong weapon (The MK48 LMG is perfect here). (3:39 - 4:38) 2) No Witnesses: Don't leave any witnesses alive in Paez's HQ Tactic: Paez's HQ is the area where no alarm is allowed. Equip a silenced weapon (e.g. in the weapon box infront of the HQ entrance). Take out the two patrolling targets on the right and the guard on the rooftop to your left (throw sensors if you cannot find him). Then you shoot the 6 enemies in the middle of the area with your silenced weapon. You have to be quick here and make sure that you don't have to reload. (9:28 - 10:48) 3) Ace of Diamonds: Execute 10 headshots while in damond formation Tactic: After rescuing the main target you will be in diamon formation. Take your time and aim for enemies heads. You can still reload the last checkpoint during the final cutscene and try it again. (11:31 - 14:20) Mission 1 Video Walkthrough - Elite Difficulty (Solo) Ghost Recon Future Soldier - Mission 1 Tactical Challenges Walkthrough - Elite Difficulty Mission 2 - "Subtle Arrow" - Difficulty 2/5: 1) Protector: Complete the mission without causing any civilian casualties Tactic: Just don't shoot any civilians. If you kill one by accident reload the last checkpoint. Check your challenge stats on the map menu if you are not sure whether you killed a civilian or not. (0:27 - 28:20) 2) Secure the Camp: Eliminate all of the soldiers who have taken control of the refugee camp Tactic: After the bus drive you will be in the refugee camp. Use magnetic view to see enemies through solid surface and give your teammates the command to elimante the enemies. Watch out that you don't raise an alarm. (6:26 - 14:03) 3) Steely Gaze: Kill 10 enemies while in Magnetic view Tactic: Simply enable magnetic view and kill 10 enemies by yourself. The kills of AI teammates won't count. (1:16 - 28:20) Mission 2 Video Walkthrough - Elite Difficulty (Solo) Ghost Recon Future Soldier - Mission 2 Tactical Challenges Walkthrough - Elite Difficulty Mission 3 - "Noble Tempest" - Difficulty 4/5: 1) Fast Mover: Go through the village in 60 seconds without any civilians dying Tactic: Most important part is that you don't kill civilians. Time shouldn't be an issue. Use magnetic view to spot enemies behind cover, but always exit magnetic view before shooting! You cannot see civilians in magnetic view and would probably kill some by accident. I did this on elite difficulty, but you can do it on recruit difficulty to have more health. (1:23 - 2:23) 2) Clear the Pitch: Eliminate all the mercs playing soccer without raising the alarm Tactic: Take out the enemy in the tower and the one on the far left who is patrolling around some containers. Now move to the area where the first enemy in the watchtower was located. There should be 3 enemies patrolling. Give your teammates the command to eliminate them once the enemy on separated enemy on the right is behind some boxes (so that the soccer players cannot see the dead body). Then kill the two enmies that are standing next to each other (line them up for a double headshot or let your teammates do the job). Now you need to kill the 5 remaining enemies at once, with a silenced weapon. Mark 3 for your teammates and quickly kill 2 by yourself. (3:10 - 5:29) 3) No Blood No Foul: Infiltrate the outpost, retrieve the data & extract without raising the alarm Tactic: Always have your stealth camo activated and use the drone to spot enemies. The first enemies you want to eliminate are the ones on rooftops or in watchtowers. Do not attack the helicopter. (15:23 - 22:30) Mission 3 Video Walkthrough - Elite Difficulty (Solo) Ghost Recon Future Soldier - Mission 3 Tactical Challenges Walkthrough - Elite Difficulty Mission 4 - "Tiger Dust" - Difficulty 4/5: 1) Assault the HQ and take out the hostiles without any misses Tactic: Take out the snipers on the way to the HQ without missing a shot. Let your temmates shoot moving targets for you. Once you jump through the window to clear the HQ of enemies you are not allowed to miss a shot during the slow motion sequence. Make sure that you equip an accurate weapon before this sequence starts and only fire 1 shot per enemy (or 2 if they are still alive). (0:39 - 4:30) 2) Destroy every enemy vehicle during the chopper gunride Tactic: Just watch out for enemy vehicles and destroy all of them. They are highlighted with a red trianlge sign and are easy to spot. You also need to destroy the enemy chopper. (11:27 - 12:55) 3) On Elite difficulty, take out the enemy RPG before your chopper gets shot Tactic: This should come naturally when playing on Elite. Just kill every enemy that you see. (13:20 - 13:50) Mission 4 Video Walkthrough - Elite Difficulty (Solo) Ghost Recon Future Soldier - Mission 4 Tactical Challenges Walkthrough - Elite Difficulty Mission 5 - "Silent Talon" - Difficulty 2/5: 1) Use the Warhound to kill at least 75% of the enemies during the mission Tactic: Never use your weapons, always kill enemies with the warhound. This should unlock at the end of the mission. Don't let your teammates kill too many enmies or you might miss this one. (3:13 - 28:33) 2) Kill 5 or more enemies with a single Warhound Mortar Tactic: Should come naturally. I got it in this sort of underground facility, after using the ship. (13:31 - 14:04) 3) Eliminate both enemy choppers without losing a squadmate Tactic: Once you see two choppers attacking you, go into cover and use the warhound's guided missile to shoot down the choppers. It takes two shots to destroy a chopper. If one of your AI teammates (or yourself) die during the chopper fight you will have to reload the last checkpoint. (21:44 - 22:38) Mission 5 Video Walkthrough - Elite Difficulty (Solo) Ghost Recon Future Soldier - Mission 5 Tactical Challenges Walkthrough - Elite Difficulty Mission 6 - "Firefly Rain" - Difficulty 5/5: 1) Finish the mission using less than 50 rounds of ammo Tactic: Always let your teammates kill the enemies and save your shots for the extraction sequence (see challenge #2). If you have to shoot then use a sniper rifle. One shot usually kills an enemy. You can also mark enemies for your AI teammates after being spotted and camp in a safe area while they do all the hard work for you. (1:29 - 23:31) 2) Once the objective's complete, extract without being shot down Tactic: Search for good cover (I camped behind a big container on the left part of the area) and throw sensors to highlight enemies around you. Try to kill as many enemies as possible to support your teammates. Give your teammates the command to focus fire on targets that are out of your sight. Throwing frag grenades also helps (especially when the enemy transporter comes in). If you or one of your teammates die then you will have to reload the checkpoint! (20:23 - 23:14) 3) On Board Clean: On Elite difficulty, sabotage the equipment in less than 20 minutes after insertion Tactic: Just do one run on a difficulty of your choice to get to know the enemies motion pattern or follow the attached video guide from scratch. You can kill all enemies without being detected. You have more than enough time for this, just keep in mind in which order you need to kill the enemies. PowerPyx
Mission 7 - "Ember Hunt" - Difficulty 4/5: 1) Stealthily kill all Russian riflemen assaulting the house Tactic: Start by taking out the two enemies who overwatch the area. You will run straight into them when entering the area. Now you kill the 3 enemies that are camping behind walls on the ground level. Sometimes an enemy stops at the bottom of the right staircase. Take him out if that's the case. If he keeps moving then there should be a total of 5 enemies on the left side. If he stopped at the staircase then there will only be 4 enemies. Take all of them out at once while the 3 enmies infront of the house are firing their weapons. Take out the 3 enemies on the right side and finally the 3 infront of the house. (5:42 - 7:55) 2) Kill 40 enemies by snapping their necks Tactic: You don't really have to "snap" their necks. You just need to kill 40 enemies with melee attacks. Stealthily kill enemies from behind to get some of those kills (~10 if you are doing well) and get the other 30 while in combat. Playing on Recruit difficulty makes sense for this challenge. Try to kill every enemy with melee attacks! At the end of the mission - after your extraction chopper has been shot down - a huge amount of enemies will keep respawning. You can farm ~20 kills here until they stop spawning. Just stay in cover and let the enemies assault your position. Once they are close enough you leave your cover to perform a quick melee kill. (0:42 - 29:19) 3) Kill all the snipers and RPGs during your escape Tactic: This should come naturally. It also counts if your AI teammates kill them... and there is a good chance that they will kill all of them automatically. Use your magnetic views to see enemies through surfaces and watch out for enemies on rooftops and balconies. Those are the ones you want to kill. (17:10 - 21:07) Mission 7 Video Walkthrough - Elite Difficulty (Solo) Mission 8 - "Deep Fire" - Difficulty 5/5: 1) Reach the drilling ship entrance without killing any guards Tactic: Always stay cloaked and move around enemies. If you come to a road where soldiers are blocking the way then move left for an alternative path. Lay down if the threat indicator shows that you are about to be spotted. (1:00 - 3:26) 2) Once the timer has started, make it to the control room in under 2 minutes Tactic: Once you see the 3:30 timer, run up the stairs and kill all of the enemies while moving. If your health is low then stay in cover for a moment or lay down (makes it harder for enemies to hit you). Activate the night vision goggles to highlight enemies. (6:58 - 8:45) 3) Destroy all enemy vehicles during the gunride Tactic: Simply shoot all vehicles until they explode. There are 2 helicopters, 1 tank, several humvees and lots of trucks. You also have to destroy parked trucks! Absolutely every vehicle needs to be destroyed, not just the ones with a red marker. It should be easy to spot them, but pay attention when you approach the enemy camp after shooting down the first helicopter. There will be lots of parked trucks and if you don't shoot them quickly they are easy to miss. If you are not a 100% whether you missed a vehicle or not then reload the checkpoint (and maybe take a look on the attached video). If you mess up and reach the the next checkpoint there is no turning back and you would have to replay the mission from scratch. It doesn't matter whether you or your teammates destroy the vehicles. (20:38 - 24:16) Mission 8 Video Walkthrough - Elite Difficulty (Solo) Mission 9 - "Valiant Hammer" - Difficulty 3/5: 1) On Veteran difficulty, reach the observation point without alerting any enemies Tactic: This also be done on Elite difficulty! After the mission starts you have to take out a bunch of enemies. Mark the first 4 (3 on a road and one in a hut) and kill them together with your teammates. Continue by taking out the 3 enemies on the right part of the map with a synched team kill. Now take out the last 3 enemies on the left side. After reaching the next waypoint you will encounter another, large group of enemies. Simply sneak around them until you reach the observation point and kill the enemies afterwards. (0:32 - 3:55) 2) Rack up kills on all enemy sniper in the cemetery without being shot Tactic: Stay in cover, use your drone and mark the snipers for your teammates. The snipers are fairly easy to locate with the help of the drone. Just watch out for little blinking lights. It doesn't matter if you teammates get killed or not. As long as you stay alive the challenge will unlock. (30:35 - 31:22) 3) Your squad must kill enemies with at least 15 different weapons Tactic: Always check the weapons that are dropped by enemies! Pick them up if you didn't perform a kill with them already. When starting the mission I'd recommend to equip the VSS Sniper Rifle and P90 SMG, since these weapons won't appear anywhere during the mission and are good to take out the first couple enemies. Also check weapon boxes and switch your weapons after every kill. (1:00 - 26:06) Mission 9 Video Walkthrough - Elite Difficulty (Solo) Ghost Recon Future Soldier - Mission 9 Tactical Challenges Walkthrough - Elite Difficulty Mission 10 - "Gallant Thief" - Difficulty 5/5: 1) Kill two enemies with a single bullet Tactic: After reaching the canteen you will have to place 4 targeting beacons for an airstrike. Infront of the third one are 2 still standing enemies. Line them up perfectly and kill them with a headshot. Any weapon should do the job, but it's recommended to use a silenced weapon, so that the other enemies won't hear you (I used a silenced ACR). (12:54 - 13:23) 2) Reach the canteen without firing a weapon Tactic: Simply sneak around all enemies and avoid being seen. Kill the enemies that are blocking your way by breaking their necks (CQB kills). Stay cloaked and move slowly. If nearby enemies are looking into your direction then lay down or hide behind cover. You should reload the last checkpoint if you raise an alarm. (0:54 - 6:30) 3) On Elite difficulty, find President Volodin inside the prison in under 2 minutes Tactic: The given time for this one is very short! Sneak around all enemies and kill the ones that are blocking your way with a silenced weapon. You will have to run at some points (when no enemies are looking into your direction), otherwise you won't be fast enough! The president is in the room on the left. You have to use your drone to open the door. (15:05 - 17:01) Mission 10 Video Walkthrough - Elite Difficulty (Solo) Ghost Recon Future Soldier - Mission 10 Tactical Challenges Walkthrough - Elite Difficulty Mission 11 - "Invisible Bear" - Difficulty 3/5: 1) Avoid being taken out by a sniper during the mission Tactic: Always stay in cover and let your teammates kill the enemies for you. Use your drone to overwatch the areas and mark enemies for your teammates. If a sniper should take you out then you will have restart the entire mission. (4:08 - 26:14) 2) Clear General Bukharov's room in under 20 seconds Tactic: This should come naturally when playing offline with AI teammates. Once you breach into the room kill everyone you see. (33:22 - 33:42) 3) Kill at least 10 Bodark while they are still under the effects of an EMP Tactic: The Bodark are the "invisible" enemies. There are a total of ~15 throughout the entire mission. Make sure that your teammates do not kill too many of them! You encounter the first group (3 Bodark) in a wide open area on top of a building (after the sniper sequence on the rooftops). As you progress in this huge area you will encounter some more Bodark. Towards the end of the mission you will come to an office. There are ~10 Bodark in there (every enemy in the office, except the ones with the shields). Throw an EMP grenade when they are trying to assualt your position and restore the grenades at ammo boxes. The EMP effect will disable their stealth camouflage for a few seconds. That's the time when you have to kill them. You have to kill 10 Bodark by yourself! If a teammate kills them it won't count (no matter if it's an AI teammate or human player)! Reload the last checkpoint if you didn't do so well in one of those areas. You should have at least 2 kills before you enter the office. PowerPyx
Mission 12 - "Shattered Mountain" - Difficulty 5/5: 1) On Elite difficulty, reach the swamp without being detected Tactic: You reach the swamp after killing 5 of 7 HVTs and may not be detected a single time throughout the mission. There are lots of enemies to deafeat in a specific order. Follow the video from scratch and pay attention to the order in which the enemies are marked and from where I shoot and when I shoot! Sometimes if you shoot an enemy from an other direction their dead body can easily fall somewhere, where other enemies can see it. If you shoot too early or too late then another patrolling guard might see the kill. Marking the enemies in the correct order is important because some enemies cannot be shot by your teammates (e.g. the patrolling one behind the house where the first HVT is located). (1:03 - 15:56) 2) Kill all the High Value Targets in the farm area in 3 seconds or less Tactic: Mark the 3 HVTs for your teammates and give the command for a synched shot. All of them will be dead within a second. If you have problems to locate one of the HVTs then throw motion sensors. (9:40 - 13:16) 3) Intercept the two fleeing HVTs in under 6 minutes Tactic: After killing 5 out of 7 HVTs you will have to chase down the last two of them. Run through all areas as fast as possible and do not stay in cover too long. hammy2011
If you die after completing a challenge you do not have to do it again, it will stay saved after the first completion! You can do the tactical challenges over multiple playthroughs or in Mission Selection i understand that bit but can you restart checkpoint in level and still do it ? Cheers for the guide will certainly help Answered my own question on first mission by trying lol Also on first mission you can get the 5 kills with the lmg just after you silently take out the 2 walkers and the one in the tower that leaves at least the 5 you need down on the center area with no civilians around With the elite added do you have to do the challenges again though ? PowerPyx
With the elite added do you have to do the challenges again though ? No, you don't have to do the challenges again. For example: You did your first run on Recruit and got 50% challenges there. Then you start a new game on Elite and your tactical challenge progress will still be saved. You will just need to complete the remaining challenges. Can also be done in mission selection on a difficulty of your choice.
TroubleMaker411
Pyx, could you confirm something for me please mate. With the Tac Challenges, if I start a new game (ie. when I select "Campaign", I start a fresh file, leaving my Elite playthrough alone) do the challenges go over? Or do I need to do a new game/mission select on my elite save file? Sorry for the shitty questions Cheers mate
PowerPyx
Sorry for the shitty questions No questions are shitty my friend That's what this thread was made for - to leave no questions unanswered. Yes, you can quit your Elite Playthrough (or any other difficulty) and go to mission selection and do the remaining challenges on a different difficulty or completely different save file (e.g. if you start a new campaign on Recruit after your Elite playthrough your progress will carry over). The challenge progress is saved on your "progress save file" and nothing will be lost, even if the campaign save file gets damaged for whatever reason. Prototype_79L
In Ember Hunt the No Safe Distance challange simply cannot be done, quite stupid if you ask me. I was trying to do it for over an hour, timed tghe takedown to the shots but one men in the front row always discovers the body 10 meters behind him. Ridiculous. And just after writing this in outrage, finally i managed to to it on Elite. Edited May 25, 2012 by Prototype_79L
PowerPyx
Haha, glad you got the challenge done But you are right, this challenge is a little strange indeed. On my first couple runs it also happened to me that they spotted the dead bodies. I think you have to kill the enemies on the left side when the enemies infront of the house (the ones in the middle area) are firing their weapons. You can also try to shock them with the pulse of your drone or throw a flashbang, but the other enemies might be alerted by that and you have to kill everyone super quick. tebar
Mission 7 - "Ember Hunt" - Difficulty 4/5: 2) Kill 40 enemies by snapping their necks Tactic: You don't really have to "snap" their necks. Playing on Recruit difficulty makes sense for this challenge. Try to kill every enemy with melee attacks! PowerPyx
Will you make a guide for the weapon challenges? I don't know if there's any trophy for it but they give some weapon parts. Nope, won't make a guide for the weapon challenges. You don't need the weapons anyway and there is no trophy tied to them. Besides, the challenges are self-explanatory and quite easy to complete. They eventually stop spawning after a while, in the easiest difficulty setting anyway. I took down 20 of them by hand while the ia took out the rest. By that time only the tank remained and I was stuck at 38/40 Oh, they stop spawning? Dammit, I think I will have to fix this info then. When I did it I was playing on Elite, but I got killed after taking out ~15 enemies (on my first playthrough, not the video walkthrough). nintendo64X
And this is why I subbed you lol, excellent work as always! I wonder though, any idea powerpyx how the ghost rating works? If the challenges are tied it makes these challenges even tougher, on mission "subtle arrow" me and 2 others got 100% first time, all challenges, but due to a glitch we played the mission again...and got 91% :S But when we played "silent talon" we got all the challenges done but got 71%, any idea at all good sir? PowerPyx
As anyone managed to do challenge 3 yet? I keep throwing EMP's and killing them but nothing happens. Yeah, I did that one. Updated the description a minute ago and added the video I guess you just killed the wrong guys The Bodark are the "invisible" enemies. I wonder though, any idea powerpyx how the ghost rating works? The following criteria is important for the ratings: accuracy (not too important, already got 100% ghost rating while having 40% accuracy) silenced kills (kill your enemies without being detected) synched team kills (greatly boosts up your final rating... always kill enemies together with your team or let them take out enemies and camp in a silent corner) CQB / Melee kills (also a nice and easy way to boost up your rating. If you have the chance then kill them with CQB. It also counts if you melee them in combat - after being spotted) headshots (always go for headshots when performing stealth kills where you cannot use CQB) difficulty (this is the most important factor! There is a difficulty multiplier and when you play on Elite the game is more likely to reward you with a skill of 80+). Your deaths, deaths of teammates and the reloading of checkpoints do not influence the ghost skill rating. Tactical challenges don't influence the score directly, but most of them require you to fulfill some of the above mentioned criteria (which gives you a better rating at the end). Direwolf Winter
Outstanding job PowerPyx. Thanks for all the work that went into this. Mission 12 - "Shattered Mountain" - Difficulty 5/5: 1) On Elite difficulty, reach the swamp without being detected Tactic: You reach the swamp after killing 5 of 7 HVTs and may not be detected a single time throughout the mission. There are lots of enemies to defeat in a specific order. (1:03 - 15:56) I have a little glitch/trick for people struggling with the first area. I kept getting detected by the guards at the second house (dead body found or gunshot heard from someone in house), and I found this glitch by accident. It costs more time but is a cautious route. [spoiler=DirewolfWinter789789]When you get to the first target house, eliminate the four patrolling guards but then DO NOT kill the target (Yunkov). Leave him be and go to the second house. The reason for this is when you go to the second house, 4 of the guards do not spawn. So instead of the normal 9, there will only be five. In the last video at 4:54 I killed the two guards (#1 & #2) with a single headshot, but put some distance between you and the barn if you want to do it. Then eliminate the guards on the bottom floor, then the guard and target on the upper floor. Go back and kill Yunkov. After you do, the four missing guards will spawn and you will have to kill them to continue.
