Introduction:

Toejam and Earl are chilling out in their spaceship when they manage to crash into planet Earth! The locals don't seem too pleased with their new guests so help Toejam and Earl collect their broken rocket ship parts and get back home.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Play In Fixed World

At the main menu choose the bottom option of Fixed World, then play through this mode of the game. You have to get through 25 floors/levels, and your goal is to collect the rocket ship parts that have landed on certain floors. In this mode all levels and item locations are locked and are the same for every playthrough. Choosing Toejam or Earl does have slightly different advantages, Toejam is slightly faster and Earl has more health.

Be warned you only have a set amount of lives and there is no continue function so make sure you save often as a lot of the enemies aren't the easiest to avoid or defeat.

In this step you will earn:

(B) It's All About The Kicks

(B) Wh-wh-what Time Is It!?

(B) We're Unstoppable

(B) Up, Up, And Away

(B) Lovin' This Earth Lifestyle

(B) Even Adults Like Presents

(B) Fallen Angel

(B) The Mailbox Ate My Mail

(B) This Earth Food Isn't Half Bad!

(S) The Long Road To Funkiness

(S) Smell Ya' Later, Earth!

Step 2: Play through on Random World

It's unlikely but you may have missed The Long Road To Funkiness, Even Adults Like Presents and This Earth Food Isn't Half Bad! during step 1. If so then get them in this run through. It's the exact same game but this time round every floor is randomly generated so there is no way of knowing where anything is going to be! This will be trickier but use the save system to your advantage and you'll be fine.

In this step you will earn:

(G) Word Up! Back To Outer Space!

IKf4bjd.png

Controls:

The controls still appear on screen as the old Genesis controls with A, B and C being the buttons you're asked to press. Here's how they transfer to your controller:

A = :square: Main action button, use item (some items require you to hold down or tap :square: to use), choose to open/drop present in the item menu

B = :cross: Opens/closes item menu.

C = :circle: Opens/closes map, switch between opening or dropping present in item menu.

Save Often!:

Thanks to the Sega Vintage Collection save system that lets you save on the fly you should have no problem completing this. During both playthroughs make sure you save often and to multiple slots, just in case.

Presents:

Presents are lying around for you to find on Earth's surfaces, but be careful when you open them as there's no way to know what's inside to start with. They can contain useful items such as tomatoes you can throw at your enemies or they can have harmful effects including instant death! Once you've picked up a present you need to go into your menu and open it. Once you've done that every other present of that type will have it's contents labelled next to it after you've picked it up. Just picking up the presents has no negative effects so pick them all up!

You can talk to a man in a carrot costume that you can find on some floors and pay him 2 Bucks to reveal the contents of a mystery present in your inventory. You can also buy presents from blue mailboxes found on some floors, although these are expensive they can be life saving.

[TJ&E] Dash with the Super Hitops.

You start the game with 4 Bonus Hitops in your inventory. Press :cross: to bring up your menu, then :square: to open one of the boxes containing the Hitops. Once you've done that press and hold :square: to start running and unlock the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1758/D97.jpgWh-wh-what Time Is It!?http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

[TJ&E] Wake up from a nap.

If you leave your controller alone for a while Toejam/Earl will fall asleep. To wake them up you've got to tap any of the face buttons until eventually it'll scream WAKE UP! and the trophy will be yours.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1758/1DB.jpgWe're Unstoppablehttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

[TJ&E] Fly across water using the Rocket Skates.

Inside one of the presents you find along the way will be the Rocket Skates. Press and hold :square: once you've chosen these to set off. It's quite hard to control where you're going with these on and you have to go across water to get the trophy so watch out!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1758/08E.jpgUp, Up, And Awayhttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

[TJ&E] Fly using the Icarus Wings.

Inside one of the presents you find along the way will be the Icarus Wings. Repeatedly tap :square: once you've got the wings on to fly over all terrain and enemies.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1758/B38.jpgLovin' This Earth Lifestylehttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

[TJ&E] Jump in the bath on Floor 0.

The entrance to Floor 0 is found on Floor 1 but you can't get to it from the start. You can wait until you find Icarus Wings, a Jetski or an Inner Tube randomly, or you buy a pair of Icarus Wings in Floor 3's mailbox (bottom present if you've not discovered them yet). Save first then buy the item and drop down to Floor 1 by falling off the edges. On Floor 1 use the Icarus Wings and head to the south west of the map over the water until you reach a small island. This island will have a hole in the middle of it you can drop down into which leads to Floor 0.

Down here is a hot tub that you need to jump in and the trophy will pop. Also if you get a lemonade from the stand you will get an extra life. If you want you can then reload your old file saving your bucks, or fall off the edge to be taken back to the highest floor you've reached so far.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1758/944.jpgEven Adults Like Presentshttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

[TJ&E] Snag some goodies from Santa.

On occasion you will spot Santa looking through his sack of presents. As soon as you see him you need to start sneaking (press and hold :square: when no other item is active), when he lifts his head up and starts looking around stand still until he turns around again. Once you've snuck up right next to him, you'll startle him and he'll drop some presents! If you don't sneak he will fly off, but you can usually find him again elsewhere on the same floor.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1758/D0A.jpgFallen Angelhttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

[TJ&E] Defeat a Cupid.

You'll find these annoying chaps a few floors in. They're easily defeated, you just need to touch them whilst you're in the air. Icarus Wings or Spring Shoes work perfectly.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1758/9F5.jpgThe Mailbox Ate My Mailhttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

[TJ&E] Defeat a Demon Mailbox.

Mailboxes are found on most floors and usually you can buy presents from them with your Bucks. Later into the game however there will be some mimics that attack you, look out for the eyes in the mail-slot. If you get too close they charge you and are almost impossible to beat, but if you spot one keep your distance and use tomatoes or the slingshot until he's defeated. He should just stay still and take the punishment if you don't get too close, once he's popped so does the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1758/F1B.jpgThis Earth Food Isn't Half Bad!http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

[TJ&E] Eat all of Earth's delicacies.

To complete this you need to eat one of each of the "good" foods found on the floors. Good food restores some of your health. Here are all the foods you must eat and on which floor in Fixed Mode I found them;

-Fudge Sundae - Floor 2

-Fries - Floor 2

-Pizza - Floor 3

-Cherry Pie - Floor 4

-Pancakes - Floor 4

-Cereal - Floor 6

-Bacon & Eggs - Floor 6

-Hamburger - Floor 7

-Fudge Cake - Floor 9

-Watermelon - Floor 11

-Candy Cane - Floor 11

There are also "bad" foods (like Moldy Cheese and Old Cabbage) that drain your health, but they aren't necessary for the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1758/194.jpgThe Long Road To Funkinesshttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

[TJ&E] Obtain a rank of FUNK LORD.

Exploring the map, opening presents and defeating enemies earns you points. Get enough and you rank up, which increases your health and can give you an extra life. Make sure to explore each floor thoroughly and open as many useful presents as you can. If you've still not made it by the time you've reached the top floor you'll need to drop back down floors to explore some more and open some more presents.

Here's the breakdown on how many points you need for each rank courtesy of KimmyGibbler69!

Wiener - 0 Points

Dufus - 40 Points

Poindexter - 80 Points

Peanut - 180 Points

Dude - 280 Points

Bro - 400 Points

Homey - 540 Points

Rapmaster - 700 Points

Funk Lord - 880 Points

You can also find a present called Promotion that gives you an instant level up, my advice is save that until you hit 700. By the time I had reached Floor 25 I was in the mid 600's so I just saved and then fell down to explore the lower floors further. I used a few presents and then as soon as I hit 700 points and ranked up I used the present to rank up again and got the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1758/B9F.jpgSmell Ya Later, Earth!http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

[TJ&E] Clear the Fixed World.

Make it to Floor 25, collect all rocket ship parts and finish the game in Fixed World mode to claim this. Make sure to save often just in case the enemies get their hands on you.

Here you can find maps of all 25 floors with all ship pieces and elevator locations marked on it, Toejam and Earl: Maps

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1758/443.jpgWord Up! Back To Outer Space!http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_gold.png

[TJ&E] Clear a Random World.

Collect all 10 rocket ship parts, make it to Floor 25 and finish the game in Random World mode to claim this. Seeing as the floors are randomly generated there's no guide to this but it will still tell you when you first arrive on a floor whether a rocket ship part is in that area. Save often and you should get through this fine.

Another excellent guide mate, pretty much the same as your other Toejam & Earl one. Keep it up! :applause:

Still loving the SEGA-inspired banners btw :)

Thanks bud :D Seeing as these are Sega Vintage Collection games I felt it was only right to give the guides the proper fontage.

Lmao, looking at the activity, you'd already be able to tell this was one of your guides mate :D Don't think I've ever double posted 18 months apart, thought this would have at least one recent post from the custom list stuff. Don't even remember me posting the video up there

Thanks for the guide though, I honestly hated this game but your guide made the pain a bit easier, particularly knowing you can sneak up on the demon mailbox without him being aggro'd. The actual Santa trophy I played this game in the first place for was a piece of piss, did it first time. Those maps for the fixed world are a saviour, and I got lucky finding two Promotion presents to ease the grind to max level!

A good tip for the Random World is to find an Icarus Wings present, then when you go to a new floor, make a save state and use the Wings to quickly fly around a level to find the rocket part and/or exit. Then, load the save and go straight there, so you can use the Wings again on the next floor rather than having to wander round aimlessly for ages (and they move so bloody slow!).

Thanks for the guide. One thing I'd suggest doing differently (assuming you're going for the quickest route to 100%) is to do the random world first. On the random world you're going to have to explore and take your time anyway to find the elevators and ship pieces, so you want to get the majority of trophies on that run.

Doing the fixed world second, you can concentrate on cleaning up any trophies you missed the first time, and then use maps to run through the levels as quickly as possible.

You and Darth_Krid both have good suggestions. It's hard to decide which is better... or if they're both equally just as good.

I guess it would make more sense to do it your way Rennelf seeing how you need to explore a ton of the map anyway to get "The Long Road To Funkiness" trophy.

Finished this up yesterday - wonderful guide!

Idk if it's completely random, but for some reason (maybe someone was lookin' out for me haha), I ended up getting 5 promotion powerups on my run of a Random world. Got the Funk Lord rank on about level 6 with this. (really wish I would've done this before going for it on the fixed world because that took me over an hour lol).

I've just come back to this game to clean it up and had a think about which world to do first. Both plans have merit. However, I've decided to do the Fixed world first, so that I can plan an efficient route around the level to uncover the map as quickly as possible to rank up. Hopefully I can get all the random trophies on this playthrough too. Then for the random world, I will just use Krid's approach with the Icarus wings to find what I need and zing (plod) through the levels.
