Introduction:

Strange creatures have landed on the planet Funkotron and are scaring the locals. On top of that the Funkapotamus (the source of all funk) has gone into hiding. It's up to Toejam and Earl to send the invaders packing and find the Funkapotamus before they run out of funk!

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Play with Lil' Kid Mode on

At the main menu make sure to turn Lil' Kid Mode on and then start playing. In this mode you cannot die so don't worry about anything and get a feel for the game. Lil Kid Mode ends after level 5, and if you follow this guide you should grab all but one of the trophies in this run. Do not complete the first level, instead check below on how to find the warp room and take the far right door inside it which will take you straight to level 5.

In this step you will earn:

(B) Treasures Just Out Of Sight

(B) The Jingle Of Change

(B) Can't Hide From Me

(B) FeeLiN' KRaZy!

(B) I'll Just Go On Ahead

(B) A Big Wet Kiss

(B) Sorry, I Just Can't Help Myself!

(S) Take Back The Skies

(B) Clean Better, Faster, Easier

(B) Shake, Rattle and Fall!

(S) Inner Child

Step 2: Normal Playthrough/Cleanup

The only trophies you could really miss in the first step are Clean Better, Faster, Easier and Shake, Rattle and Fall. If you haven't got them then there are ample opportunities to do so when playing through this step. Make sure Lil' Kid Mode is turned off and start a new game. Like all Sega Vintage Collection games this comes with a save function that allows you to save at any time, use this to your advantage! You start off with 3 lives and 3 continues, you get extra lives for each 10,000 points you collect. Points can be gotten from capturing enemies, completing mini games or picking up presents.

Take it steady and you should get through the 17 levels on offer.

In this step you will earn:

(G) Peace Returns To Our Home

Controls:

The controls still appear on screen as the old Genesis controls with A, B and C being the buttons you're asked to press. Here's how they transfer to your controller.

A = :square: (teleport a short distance in the direction you're facing, you can use this to go through some walls)

B = :cross: (throw jar to capture earthling)

C = :circle: (jump)

You can check inside bushes and shake trees in the background by pressing . You can also lift manhole covers, dive to the floor to avoid flying ducks and cover your eyes from flash photography by pressing .

Save Often!:

Thanks to the Sega Vintage Collection save system that lets you save on the fly you should have no problem completing this. During your normal playthrough, make sure you save often and to multiple slots just in case.

Presents:

You will find presents everywhere, floating in the air, hidden in trees and even underwater but what is inside each present can vary. Sometimes it's just points (10,000 of which give you another life), other times it's Funk Vacuums and Panic Buttons. If you see a present, grab it! It might come in handy.

Follow the Arrow:

The main aim of each level is to capture all earthlings in jars and then load them up on a rocket ship headed home. The arrow indicator in the middle of your HUD at the bottom will point in the direction of the nearest earthling. If it is flashing red then there is one very close by.

Hyper Funk Zone Warning:

At points during the game a door will appear out of thin air that as soon as you come into contact with you will be sucked into. These lead to the Hyper Funk Zone where you pick up presents and avoid the portals that send you back to the level by holding down any button. If you complete all 3 stages of this then you receive a bonus that stops you from getting the Peace Returns To Our Home trophy. Whilst Hyper Funk Zones are very useful for helping to stock up on Funk Vacuums and Panic Buttons make sure you always fail before completing the third stage.

If you do receive the bonus, revert to an earlier save.

Trixie's Rendezvous Warning:

Do not ever use Trixie's Rendezvous'. You can find her in some levels and she will bestow you a power for the rest of that level, this again stops Peace Returns To Our Home from popping.

If you do use a Trixie's Rendezvous, then revert to an earlier save.

[TJ&E2] Use the Funk Scan.

After starting the game, press :l1: to activate Funk Scan, and the trophy is yours.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1792/3FC.jpgThe Jingle Of Changehttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

[TJ&E2] Use some Coins.

Not too far into the first level you will find a parking meter, press  when standing in front of it to put a coin in it and the trophy will pop.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1792/155.jpgCan't Hide From Me!http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

[TJ&E2] Find an Earthling hidden in a plant.

This can be gotten early in the first level. When you run into a tomato throwing boy, deal with him and then shake the nearby trees (press  when standing in front of it) and a girl should fly out.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1792/797.jpgFeeLiN' KRaZy!http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

[TJ&E2] Go into Panic Mode.

When you get a Panic Button (the amount you have is shown in the bottom right of the HUD) press :start: and then :cross: to use it, sending you into panic mode. This means that you run faster whilst constantly throwing bottles for a short time during which you are invincible. Very useful.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1792/56E.jpgI'll Just Go On Aheadhttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

[TJ&E2] Find a Warp Room.

This can only be gotten on the first level, once you've captured all earthlings go into the water (near the end of the level) and jump onto the land to the left of it. Keep walking past the button and you'll be able to go through the wall. Press this second button until it vanishes and then head right back to the start of the level. Use the Funk Scan and you should see a door, press  when you're standing where the door was to walk through and claim your trophy! Inside the warp room are three doors, leading to Level 3, 4 and 5 respectively.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1792/D14.jpgA Big Wet Kisshttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

[TJ&E2] Give a blowfish an underwater kiss.

There are some underwater sections throughout the game where you swim by holding a direction and tapping :circle:. In some of these locations you can find a purple blowfish that if you go next to you kiss and it replenishes your oxygen gauge! They can first be found in the second level, but there are many sections throughout the game where it is necessary to use them.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1792/E91.jpgSorry, I Just Can't Help Myself!http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

[TJ&E2] Have a laughing fit.

Throughout the game you will find blue flying earthlings dropping bags on you, let one hit and you'll start laughing. They first appear in Mac Daddy Meadow late on in the second level.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1792/E94.jpgTake Back The Skieshttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

[TJ&E2] Defeat a duck on a flying carpet.

You will meet one of these ducks in Level 5 and you have to defeat it to proceed! Dodge his swooping attacks and capture him to get your trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1792/AA2.jpgClean Better, Faster, Easier!http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

[TJ&E2] Suck up 4 or more things at once with the Funk Vacuum.

To use a Funk Vacuum press :start: and then :circle: when you have one available (shown in the bottom right of your HUD). The vacuum sucks up all enemies on screen and captures them for you, use one when 4 or more enemies are on screen and the trophy is yours. There are multiple occasions where this is possible.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1792/AE7.jpgShake, Rattle, and Fall!http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

[TJ&E2] Shake 5 presents out of a single tree.

It says tree, but also if 5 presents come from the same bush the trophy will pop. Some trees/bushes contain multiple items, so make sure to check them several times.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1792/D7C.jpgInner Childhttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

[TJ&E2] Clear "Lil' Kid Mode".

Make sure you set Lil Kid Mode to on in the main menu and then start a new game. The easiest way to do this is to use the Warp Room in the first level, choose the furthest door on the right in the warp room to go straight to level 5. Complete this level to finish Lil' Kid Mode, and get a trophy whilst you watch Toejam and Earl dance.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1792/195.jpgPeace Returns To Our Homehttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_gold.png

[TJ&E2] Clear the game.

Complete the game on normal without using any passwords, Trixie's Rendezvous' or the Hyper Funk Zone bonus. Make sure you use the save function a lot and over multiple slots in case of emergency. Take it steady and you should get through the whole 17 levels the game has to offer in a couple of hours. Using the first level warp room to skip to level 5 does not affect the trophy.

Haha, another great guide mate! Don't even know how you hear about these sort of games, nevermind play them! Looks very THL-friendly though, how much is it? Might pick it up if it's dirt cheap.

Love the Sega section images btw! :applause:

Cheers mate :D I played this when I was a young 'un and in a fit of nostalgia bought it months ago but just never got round to playing much of it! I think I'm gonna make it my mission to try and make guides up for some of the odds and ends that haven't got one yet.

Those 11 trophies from Step 1 you could get in around half an hour (10 of them at least), the last one takes a bit longer.

Just had a look on PSN and it's £4.49 to get both games in a bundle or £3.69 for just this one.
