Dougal, my dog.

He's no purebreed but he still works fine.

I have two 3-year old Boston Terriers.

This is Miley, she's real athletic. I do agility competitions with her:

How did u get started with the agility?

We were interested in getting our female Ticket into that. Our male Scouser is lazy but likes tpo cuddle and eat netflix dvds :)

Well Miley has always been very high energy and athletic, so her drive to play is high. She's real smart so I thought I could get her into some kind of competition. I originally was thinking flyball but I wanted to be part of the action and also all the barking at flyball tournaments drive me and Miley crazy LOL.

I knew about a dog obedience club in my area that did agility so I signed her up there for the foundations class. Miley took to it really fast. The first few cycles of classes you just teach one obstacle, then eventually you chain in a few. It gets really fun once you get to start running your dog off leash on full courses. Because your dog is off leash, you do need to have your dog trained to stay with you and not run crazy. At first lots of dogs run crazy, I mean it's a field full of fun stuff, but your dog needs the basics (sit, stay, wait, down, etc). When I first started out, I went to the hardware store and bought PVC pipes and my own jumps, tire jumps, and weaves so I could have a little course in my backyard. But most of my training comes from the club I'm a part of. I have two 1-hour classes a week to help improve our skills and stuff.

I've been doing agility with her since August of '07 I believe. I wish I had more time to take her to competitions, I do maybe 10 a year. Some people who have the means to do it probably go to 30 or more competitions a year. The agility trials are usually 3-day events (Friday through Sunday, but you don't have to do all days). I mainly trial in AKC events but there are a couple other agility organizations called NADAC and USDAA that I've done too.

So if you want to get into it, find out if there is an obedience club in your area that does agility and see if you can get into their classes. I actually bought a book off amazon that was good for starting out in my backyard, it even had some ideas on building your own equipment:

If you're interested, here's a video from a trial in November that Miley and I were in. We had a real good weekend then. We're in the Excellent class now, so these are the toughest courses :)

This is my Shih Tzu puppy. His name is "Ginsu" which I named after the oriental steak knives, lol. He was always trying to nibble on my hands when he was just a baby so I named him that. :p

This is Napoleon Boneyparts! We found him wandering along a busy main road near our house about 5-6 years ago. No one responded to our "missing puppy" flyers, so we decided to adopt him after a month. I've never been much of a dog person, but being quite the character that he is, he's definitely grown on me. :)

He loves to act like a tough guy, despite weighing a measly 6-7 lbs. He also loves to eat anything he can get his grubby little paws on - except that he's allergic to 30+ things (as per the vet report), and so his diet is closely monitored.

Also, I named my band in Rock Band 2 after him.
