Introduction:

The second Assassin's Creed III DLC pack comes in the form of The Infamy, the first episode of the Tyranny of King Washington trilogy. This single-player add-on is set in an alternative history where Connor is still living in his native village under his birth name "Ratonhnhaké:ton". He awakens from a dream to find that George Washington has claimed an Apple of Eden and has begun a reign of terror under its corruption. Ratonhnhaké:ton again sets out from his village to seek answers and to put an end to this new tyranny.

The trophies for this DLC pack are incredibly easy. There are 6 missions included in the main story, which require bonus objectives be completed for 100% sync. However, unlike the main game, these are never challenging and often the game guides your hand towards accomplishing them anyway. The DLC also adds 3 types of radiant citizen side-missions that are very short and easy to accomplish. Finally, this portion of the DLC grants you two new abilities: "Wolf Cloak": Which grants you invisibility at the cost of a rapidly-decreasing health bar and "Call Wolf Pack": Which is exactly the same as calling assassins in the main game, except wolves come to your aid. The former acts as equipment so can be equipped to your quick select menu as such, whilst the latter is assigned to the :l2: button just like the assassins in the main game.

Note on the Season Pass: If you already bought the Assassin’s Creed III Season Pass for the Battle Hardened Pack or you have bought it in anticipation of this DLC, please be aware that you must access the additional content from the in-game menu. If you go straight to the Playstation Store from the XMB you will only get the option to purchase the DLC for its full price, even if you have downloaded the Season Pass previously. To redeem the DLC with your Season Pass, boot up Assassin's Creed III and at the main menu go to "Extras" and then "Additional Content". From here select "The Infamy" from the list and it will not charge you.

Note on accessing DLC: Once you have downloaded and installed the DLC, you can access it from the main menu by selecting "The Tyranny of King Washington". The DLC is a completely separate entity from the main game, so you can start it even if you haven't begun the main game (although I would advise not to due to numerous spoilers). With that in mind, none of your accumulated weapons, equipment and items will be transferred over. There is no currency in this DLC so you will not need to worry about that. Finally, the version of the Frontier in this DLC is slightly different and about half the size of the main game. For the Frontiersman trophy getting 100% sync in the Frontier refers only to the missions and events in this DLC, not your progress in the main game.

Walkthrough:

Step 1 - Complete the main story with 100% sync

There are six main story missions included in The Infamy:

  • Awaken
  • Warn The Village
  • Sky World Journey
  • One-Man Wolf Pack
  • Path Of Revenge
  • Justice Served

All the missions are fairly short and each mission except "Warn The Village" contains bonus objectives which you need to fulfil for 100% sync. They are all simple to accomplish, but if you need help see the 100% sync guide below to see how to complete the bonus objectives. Note that if you fail an objective, pause the game with :start: and select "Reload from Checkpoint" on the menu (not "Restart Memory") to be reset to the point just before the objective, giving you another try.

By completing all six missions, you will earn the two story-related trophies. Uniquely Familiar will unlock halfway through "Warn The Village", whilst West Point Payback will unlock at the end of "Justice Served" upon completion of the story.

One thing I would strongly advise during this step is to run everywhere in the Frontier rather than fast-travel to the mission objective. On your travels, you are highly likely to run into the three different types of random events required for Frontiersman. These take less than a minute to beat, so do as many as you can now to avoid excessive grinding during Step 2. Finally, once you complete Mission 3: "Sky World Journey", you will have access to your Wolf Cloak ability. When you are travelling between missions and come across a group of guards, activate it and kill as many guards as you can with your hidden blade. You should easily have killed 25 before you even finish the story. See the A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing trophy description for more details.

By the end of this step, you will definitely have achieved the following two trophies:

(B)

Uniquely Familiar

(S)

West Point Payback

Step 2 : Clean Up and "Frontiersman"

Once you have completed the story, it’s time to finish up the side-missions for 100% in the Frontier. There are four parts to this:

  • 5 Attack Convoy missions
  • 5 Help the Hungry missions
  • 5 Wolf Rescue missions
  • Collect 3 Memory Artifacts

If you followed my advice in Step 1 you should have done most of these already. If you are missing any, I would suggest travelling between the 3 towns in the middle of the Frontier Map (one on the western edge, one right in the middle and one on the eastern edge) either on foot or by horse, as these missions pop up frequently along the way. If you haven’t killed 25 enemies with the Wolf Cloak yet, the "Attack Convoy" missions are a perfect opportunity to achieve a bunch of these. Finally, you need to collect the 3 Memory Artifacts. These are marked clearly on your map and are miscellaneous objects in plain sight.

If you need advice on how to complete these side-missions, please see my 100% sync guide. At the end of this step, you will have earned the following trophies and your 100%:

(S)

A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing

(S)

Frontiersman

Trophy Guide

056.jpg  Uniquely Familiar (B)

Receive an unexpected gift.

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. You will receive this trophy halfway through Mission 2: "Warn The Village".

Spoiler

At the beginning of the mission, you will need to follow your mother back to your village. Once you reach there, a cutscene will play and she will reward Ratonhnhaké:ton with the hidden blades. Once the cutscene is over, you will have to defend your village from attack with your new weapons. This trophy will unlock as soon as this battle starts.

057.jpg  A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing (S)

Kill 25 enemies while staying cloaked.

During Mission 3: "Sky World Journey", you will unlock the "Wolf Cloak" ability. When activated this will turn the player invisible and cause you to be able to walk much faster, but will drain your health at the same time. Wolf Cloak can be assigned to your Quick Select menu on the :dpad: by holding :r2:, selecting the Wolf icon with :rs: and then pressing any of the four :dpad: directions. Once you've done that, select it with the corresponding button on the :dpad: and press :triangle: to activate it.

There are a few things to bear in mind when you are using the Wolf Cloak:

1: You must use the Hidden Blades to kill enemies without being detected. If you use the tomahawk you will be discovered.

2: At no point press :r1: whilst the cloak is equipped as you will start running and this will deactivate the ability, making you visible.

3: Bear in mind that your health will deteriorate surprisingly fast. To recover it, hide in long grass or a haystack and deactivate Wolf Cloak with :triangle:. Your health will regenerate equally as quickly. If you are in an area surrounded by enemies, press :triangle: when hidden to automatically exit your hiding spot with your Wolf Cloak on, thus remaining undetected.

You will need to kill 25 enemies whilst invisible. This will come very quickly as you can easily kill quite a few guards in the last three missions with the Cloak, and also there are many enemies to kill whilst travelling between missions. Attack Convoy missions are also great for this, as you can sneak up behind the guards at the back of the convoy and kill them without being detected. Once you have killed all the guards walking behind the convoy, deactivate Wolf Cloak to get your health back (you won't be seen as the cage is in the way) then activate it again and kill the guards in between the two cages. Replenish your health again and then activate the Cloak and kill the guards walking in front of the convoy.

Note that if you attack a group of guards and are detected, none of your kills in that group will be counted, even if you killed a couple of guards. You must either kill the whole group without being detected or just kill a couple and run off without being chased. If you wish to kill a whole group but find your health running out, kill as many as you can then run and hide to recover your health before heading back to finish them off.

058.jpg  Frontiersman (S)

Reach 100% synchronization in the Frontier.

In order to achieve 100% synchronization and unlock this trophy, you will need to accomplish the following:

  • Complete all 6 main story missions with 100% sync
  • Complete 5 Attack Convoy missions
  • Complete 5 Help the Hungry missions
  • Complete 5 Wolf Rescue missions
  • Collect 3 Memory Artifacts

Nothing in this list is challenging at all, so you should have no problems. The side-missions are in abundance in the Frontier and randomly generate as you travel. As mentioned in the Roadmap, travelling between the 3 towns in the middle of the Frontier Map either on foot or by horse seems to generate more side-missions than other areas. There are an infinite amount of these side-missions, but you will only need to complete 5 of each for the trophy. Note that opening all Treasure Chests is not required for this or any other trophy. Similarly, progress in the main game's version of the Frontier does not count towards this trophy; it's a completely separate entity.

You can check how many of each type of mission you have completed, as well as your total sync %, in the DNA Tracker in the Pause menu (press :start: and then :left: twice). You can see your overall sync value out of 1000, as well as a breakdown of all the missions.

If you require any help or tips about accomplishing 100% sync, please see my 100% sync guide.

059.jpg  West Point Payback (S) (H)

Defeat Benedict Arnold.

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. You will receive this trophy upon completion of Mission 6: "Justice Served" and thus the end of the story.

[spoiler=Benedict]After freeing the bear from captivity, you will need to use your Wolf Cloak to sneak into the fort. Once you do so, go to the orange circle on your map and go up the ramp in the area. Scan the surroundings with Eagle Vision (:l3:) and you will see a gold target walking round. This is Benedict Arnold. Simply run up to him with your Wolf Cloak activated and your Hidden Blades equipped. Press :square: to assassinate him and earn this trophy.

100% Sync Guide

MAIN STORY MISSIONS

Spoiler

Mission 1: Awaken

Kill 5 Bluecoats at the church while remaining undetected.

The mini-map is your best friend for this objective. Always keep an eye on it for the red dots which indicate an enemy position. When you get this objective, run up the tree in front of you and do a Leap of Faith into a haystack. Make sure that you have no weapons equipped by selecting your fists from the quick select menu (you are unarmed by default, so you shouldn't have to press anything). Run ahead of your mother into the haystack ahead of you. Press :square: to snap the neck of the guard standing next to the haystack. Then climb out and run to the broken wall to the left of the cemetery, where there is a guard standing on his own. Kill him and then hide in the long grass nearby. There will now be two guards in front of you. Wait until one starts walking behind the left wall of the church and follow him in the long grass to kill him. Then go up to the edge of the wall of the church and look round the corner to see a guard crouching. Press :circle: to whistle and attract his attention, and when he walks over to you, press :square: to do a corner assassination. Finally, go back round the other side of the church (where you came from) and you should see the last guard standing with his back of you to the right of the church. Creep up in the grass behind him and kill him. Your objective will come up as completed so even if you get detected, you will still achieve 100% sync.

Prevent any Bluecoat reinforcements from reaching Concord.

This objective will appear when you are told to use the cannon in Concord. To fire press :cross:. Remember to aim slightly ahead of the soldiers, as there is a second delay between firing and the shell landing.

Enemies will come from three areas: the rooftop to the right of you, the field across from the road and down the main road from the left. The only ones you need to worry about are the enemies marching down the road, as the enemies on the rooftop and in the field will stay there. After you fire one shot at the enemies on the road, you will have a few seconds before they come back. Take this opportunity to fire on the enemies on the rooftop to the right. They will come back later but ignore them after this point, as they won't damage you enough to kill you.

Now, you want to aim your cannon on the main road directly in front of the wall where the guards in the field stop at. Fire when the guards come along the main road and are about one second away from that point. You will not only wipe out the group on the road, but the group in the field too. Occasionally two guards will ride down the road on horses so be sure to fire when they are a bit further back, the reason being they move quicker than the marching guards.

Do not permit any Bluecoat runners to light a fuse.

For this objective, you will be in the middle of a huge fight in Concord. The key to achieving this objective is listening to your mother and watching the mini-map. She will say variations on "someone is trying to light a fuse!" and a large red dot will appear on your map (much larger than the normal soldiers). Don't bother with any of the other guards round the town, as they are busy fighting others and won't harm you.

When a new torch-bearing soldier appears, he will run towards one of the houses to light some explosive barrels. Intercept him along the way by equipping your tomahawk and attacking him. You should only have to press :square: once as he will not offer any resistance and will die instantly. Occasionally a Bluecoat will appear on the other side of town and will be too far away to catch. When this happens, hold down :triangle: for a couple of seconds to aim your bow, then fire at the guard. One arrow will be enough to kill him. Once you've killed 8 runners this objective will be completed.

Mission 2: Warn The Village

There are no bonus objectives for this mission. Note that after you receive your Hidden Blades and the Uniquely Familiar trophy, you will be in a battle. You cannot win this battle no matter how hard you try, so just let yourself be defeated.

Mission 3: Sky World Journey

Don't touch any rocks during slides.

After following the wolves for a short while, you will slide down a slope. The area around you is very white, but in the distance you should be able to see the large grey rocks approaching as you slide. Move left or right with :lsleft: and :lsright: to avoid them. Your character moves pretty quickly during the slide, meaning that even when the rocks are close, you can usually avoid them if you turn quickly. There are three separate slides during this section and there is a checkpoint before each one. If you hit a rock, pause the game and select "Reload from checkpoint" then you won’t have to go back very far at all.

Kill the Elk without alerting it.

This is basically unmissable, as the game tells you to do exactly this. Use your Wolf Cloak ability by pressing :triangle: to go invisible. Then walk up to the elk and press :square: to assassinate it.

Mission 4: One-Man Wolf Pack

Kill 2 Bluecoats with a single arrow.

This is easier than it looks. Once you search the area for the clues, a cutscene will play. Once it finishes, this objective will come up. You should see 2 Bluecoats run up the steep hill in front of you. Follow them up there until they stop running and they will stand in single file in front of you. Equip your bow and target the first guard, then hold down :triangle: for a couple of seconds and fire. The arrow should kill both guards, but if not restart from the checkpoint and have another go.

Kill the runner by calling the Wolf Pack.

Again, this is another objective heavily emphasised by the game. After the cutscene, the guard will run off. You are told to follow him and use the "Call Wolf Pack" ability to take him down. Run after him for a short while until he is within targeting range, then press :l2: to call in your wolves to take him down.

Mission 5: Path Of Revenge

Use no stalking bushes during the eavesdrop.

For this objective you are not allowed to use any of the tall grass or bushes to hide in. However you can use other hiding spots and you will need to, since you will be in Wolf Cloak mode to avoid detection and will need to recover health. To start off, use your Wolf Cloak ability and jump into the haystack within the eavesdropping circle. You will automatically deactivate the Cloak so your health will recover. Once the guards start to move off, press :triangle: to leave the hiding spot whilst cloaked. Then carefully creep forward between the bushes and do not touch them. Once you can move freely, run into the next haystack and recover your health. Finally when the guards move again, emerge from the haystack and run forwards to the well and hide in there. This objective will be completed whilst you are hiding in the well. Once you've accomplished it, leave the well and continue with the mission.

Mission 6: Justice Served

Free the bear without killing or alerting the guards.

Again the game will tell you to use Wolf Cloak to do this. Once you see the cutscene showing you the cage, equip your Wolf Cloak and walk around the guards ahead of you to the cage. Before you interact with it (by holding :circle:) remove the Wolf Cloak, otherwise you will die as the cage takes about 10 seconds to open and your health will be depleted. The guards will not turn round and see you.

Stay undetected in the fort.

This is again much easier than it appears due to the Wolf Cloak ability. Use it to move from bush to bush (un-equipping it and recovering your health when you do so - you'll never be discovered). You don't have to kill any Bluecoats, just move towards the orange circle on your map within the fort and go up the ramp. Use Eagle Vision to find Arnold and walk up to him with your Wolf Cloak ability activated. Make sure your Hidden Blades are equipped and press :square: to assassinate him.

SIDE-MISSIONS

Spoiler

5 Attack Convoys

Convoys spawn randomly in the Frontier but obviously they can only be found on roads. The long road from the west to the east of the Frontier in the middle of the Map is the best place to find these, as they spawn quite frequently. Note that the convoy you rescue during the DLC story does not count towards the 5 missions needed.

When you are running round the map you will get a notification informing you that an enemy convoy is nearby, shown by a small red rectangle on the map. Run over to it and there will be 10 Bluecoats guarding the two cages - three each marching in front and behind and 4 in the middle between the cages. Simply kill them all (using your Wolf Cloak works a treat here as you can hide behind the cages for cover to replenish your health) and free the prisoners from the two cages by going up to each one and pressing :circle:.

If you are having trouble finding multiple convoys, luckyegg has provided an excellent tip. When you come across a convoy and free the prisoners, wait until you get a notification saying "Mission Complete", then Pause the game and select "Quit". Now Load the DLC from the Main Menu again, then you will appear back in the same location and a convoy will spawn right in front of you. I have also confirmed that this works 100% of the time.

5 Help The Hungry

Again, these spawn randomly but most frequently in the towns and also the caves on the borders of the Frontier. To "feed" the citizen you will need to have Raw Meat in your inventory. To get this you will need to skin the wolves which attack you around the Frontier. You will encounter many of them during your travels, defeating them is a simple matter of completing a two-button QTE and then pressing :circle: to skin them.

When you are notified of a starving citizen nearby, locate him on your Map and then approach him and press :circle:. One "Raw Meat" will be taken from your inventory and this mission will be complete.

Similar to the "Attack Convoy" missions, if you want to get the missions out of the way quickly, feed a starving citizen and then Pause and Quit. Load up the DLC and you will spawn right next to the same starving citizen, allowing you to quickly complete the mission again. Thanks again to luckyegg for the tip.

5 Wolf Rescue

Another random event, the Wolf Rescue missions involve you defending a citizen from three wolves. To defeat them, run up to the citizen and just let the wolves attack you. They will attack in turn and you will need to press two buttons in a QTE to defeat each one. You have plenty of time to press the buttons and the first button is always :circle:, followed by another of the 3 face buttons i.e. :cross::square::triangle:.

I stumbled upon a very quick method to finish these 5 missions, entirely by accident. Strangely you only to defeat two of the three wolves to get the "Mission Complete" notification. Therefore kill two of them then when you see the notification, let the third wolf maul you by not pressing any buttons during the QTE. You will die very quickly and then respawn right next to the same citizen in need of help. Simply defend him again and repeat until you have completed 5. This should take you only a couple of minutes.

3 Memory Artifacts

There are three "Lucid Memory Artifacts" to find around the map. The first one is available right at the beginning, whilst the last two are only available at the end of the story. When you get within their general vicinity, the symbol for the artefact will appear on your Map. When you find the artefact, interact with it by pressing :circle:. You will be shown a holographic image which indicates that fragment has been found (even though the symbol stays on your map). The locations for the three are as follows:

1. When you are travelling to your second mission, this will already be on your map and is directly en route to the mission marker. It is located on a table inside a burnt-out house in the eastern town of the Frontier.

2. Available only when the story is completed. When you complete the story, the game will automatically back you out to the Main Menu. Boot up the DLC again and you will spawn a village in the north of the map. You will be close to a river. Follow it east a short way and the artefact will be on the riverbank.

3. Available when the story is complete. On your map, in the middle of the Frontier on the western edge, there is a large fort (where you earlier completed a mission). In the middle of this fort, inside one of the small guard tents, you will find this fragment on a table.

When all three are collected, a symbol on your map will appear in the south-eastern corner. This is the location for a video which sheds some light on the fragments, however, it is not required to watch this video for the trophy.

If you wish to see a video of the fragments' locations, watch the excellent video below by SporksAreGoodForYou:

Lol I'm trying to make sense of all that :p

1. Yeah you could do that, but it's pointless grinding when you can get it anyway as you play.

2. I'll check that out on my sub later.

3. I know about that, it's in my 100% sync guide. Although I didn't know it worked for feeding and attacking convoys. I'll test that out before writing it in, but if it's true I'll credit you :)

As for the two memory fragments, the first one you can get right at the beginning in the burnt house in the town on the eastern side of the map. This will appear on your map straight away.

The other 2 appear once you complete the game. When you complete the DLC, the game will quit to main menu. When you load it up again, you will be in a small village at the top of the map. Follow the river to the east and you will see the Memory fragment appear on your Map. It'll be on a river bank.

The final one is in the fort on the Western edge of the frontier (where you do Mission 5). Again, when you enter it'll appear on your map and be in one of the small wooden cabins on a table.

yaah sorry english not my main language glad you decipered it :p

Lol it's fine, I didn't mean it like that. Not sure what you meant about feeding the guy to get a memory fragment

Maybe you just happened to spawn a hungry citizen right next to the fragment?

OK, I checked out your tips. I checked that video for Number 2 and a convoy didn't spawn there for me. However, point 3 is excellent and really worked for the convoys and hungry citizens :D Will add that in later.

This is no 1/10 in my book. How da fuck am I supposed to reach 2 guys running at two different buildings at the same time, pyro style? I can't reach the second guy with my bow to slow him down, so I can never stop the buildings from burning

I've tried about 15 times now, couldn't do it on the first playthrough, and no way in hell I can do it now.

I only have my fists and a bow on my cleanup, is that how it's supposed to be? Or is my tomahawk lost in space?

EDIT FFS. Finally made it. Did a tackle sort of takedown instead of Connor having to beat him multiple times. Run and press :square: as you approach them. Then turn in the direction the next guy spawns immediately!

Seriously? I did that first time, along with every other mission. Maybe I got lucky, but I constantly looked at the map and avoided all of the other guards and just ran to them. You should definitely have your tomahawk. Hold :r2: to get your weapon wheel open, and select it. If it's not there, something's gone wrong :p

EDIT: Maybe 1/10 was a product of my disappointment with the shortness/relative ease of the game. I was expecting a challenge. However, it's not completely simple, so I'll proably bump it to 2.

Alright, I've made it a 2/10. JUST FOR YOU. I hope you feel special Ion

Seems pretty straight forward since two of the four trophies are story related. nonetheless though, I'll be looking at the 100% sync guide.

Thanks to Sony i'll be buying this DLC for free.

Love the banner too.

Thank you ModernWarBear! (Damn you for forcing me to type out your full name :p) I got screwed by Sony today; a bug in the Store meant that I had to pay full price for the DLC despite having the Season Pass. But I rang them and they said it'd affected quite a few people and they'll hopefully refund me the £7.99 soon. Saying that, it probably cost me that in international calls to them

I've added the Main Missions 100% sync guide, and I'll add the secondary missions guide in tomorrow. I've been writing all day and can barely keep my eyes open, so don't want to put the second part littered with typos :p

Then turn in the direction the next guy spawns immediately!

there are 2 ways or u can make it just in time or u can shoot him (the second 1)

Lmfao, that's brilliant.

Assassin's Creed IV DLC: the Tyranny of King Obama :francis:

I dunno, maybe I just got lucky. Did your tomahawk randomly reappear?

Nope, it never came back again. I had the same issue with the main game, lost my tomahawk there too. Had to go back to the mansion and pick it up again, and I couldn't do that in this DLC.

Maybe Ubisoft have a vendetta against Norwegians, so they sabotaged their games with ghost tomahawks :p

Perhaps they tried to make a game where one of Desmond's ancestors was a viking, but they couldn't programme it properly, so they thought "fuck this, let's get them back for wasting our time!"

Or maybe I'm just reallllly tired and I'm overthinking things :o

That was an excellent idea for an AC game. The Viking times, with the feuds between Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland, Iceland, the Faroes, Orkney, and the trading and warfare in medieval times.
