Introduction

The Testament of Sherlock Holmes is an adventure/puzzle game, a kind that is a bit rare nowadays. You control Sherlock Holmes and must try to solve a case by gathering and examining clues and solving puzzles. The game gives you a nice view of the ways that Sherlock Holmes used to solve complicated cases.

There is a video walkthrough HERE by Kcire/ShotToTheGroin should you need it to help you get through the puzzles. You do not want to skip puzzles, because skipping even one puzzle will void The Brain.

Walkthrough

Step 1: Play through the story, keeping an eye on missable trophies

Most of the trophies in the game are story-related, but there are six missable trophies (Pea Souper, A Very Fine Loafer, Blackmailer, Attention to Detail, The Holmesian, and The Brain). Please refer to their sections in the trophy guide, so you won't have to replay the game, as there is no chapter select. Make sure to carefully read The Brain trophy description before starting the game!

Start a new game and play it through until you complete it. Do not skip any puzzles. When you finish the game, you should have a new platinum.

Remember to save the game manually since the game does not auto-save at all.

Step 2: Clean-up

If there are any trophies you missed in the first playthrough, you will have to start a new game to earn them, unless you made several manual saves during your first playthrough.

TROPHIES

Since even the missable trophies are story related I will list them in the order that you get them.

You can obtain this right after finishing the first case (The Samoan Necklace). You have to use Holmes' sixth sense by pressing :l2:. Just keep pressing :l2: until the trophy appears.

Thanks to Fragpuss for noting that the trophy cannot be obtained during the Samoan Necklace case, as that case is more of a tutorial for the game.

While in control of Watson, search for memorabilia of Holmes' previous cases in the Baker Street flat. There are several times when you can free roam the room as Watson to find the memorabilia, except for the last time you visit near the game's end. It's best to get this out of the way as soon as possible, to avoid forgetting and missing the trophy.

Here is a list of what you need to find:

1) The clients' letters skewered with a letter opener on the mantelpiece above the fireplace

2) The spear above the door to Watson's on the bedroom (left of the fireplace)

3) The typewriter in Watson's bedroom (left of the fireplace)

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/934/2FB.jpg Blackmailer (B)

Your morals don't improve!

Missable trophy.

You will need to choose certain story options when talking to certain people. Those options are:

1) After finding the love letter in the church, when Watson returns with the priest, interrogate the priest and choose BLACKMAIL

2) When you find the two hidden boys inside the little house in the graveyard, speak with the boy and choose FEAR

3) When you return to talk to Danny the Anvil as Watson, when given the opportunity, choose I WORK FOR THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT, then choose I WILL CALL THE POLICE

After the third person has been blackmailed, the trophy will unlock.

Story-related and cannot be missed. This is obtained after defusing the bombs.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/934/4EB.jpg The Brain (G)

I never get your limits... there are unexplored possibilities about you.

Missable trophy.

This trophy is only obtained if you did not skip a single puzzle over the course of the game. To skip puzzles you must either fail a puzzle a certain number of times or let a certain amount of time pass. Then the option to skip it ( :r2: ) will appear. DO NOT press :r2:. If you press :r2: you will automatically skip the puzzle.

If you are having problems with any of the puzzles, please refer to the walkthrough guide HERE.

Generally, you will want to make many manual save files, so that if you skip a puzzle by mistake, you can simply quit and reload a previous save prior to the puzzle being skipped and continue from there.

Pressing :circle: to quit a puzzle and reset it will not void this trophy. Nor will the option to skip actually appearing. Only pressing :r2: to skip the puzzle will prevent you from getting the trophy.

This trophy unlocks a little after unlocking Minesweeper.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/934/DC7.jpg Bomb Defuser (S)

You never can resist a touch of the dramatic!

Story-related and cannot be missed. This is obtained after finishing the game.

Strength and perseverance to the end

Obtain all other trophies.

thanks for posting this thread I'm going to be starting this as soon as I finish Borderlands 2

No problem. Glad to be of help. Got this game for Christmas, and was able to sit down and finally play it 3 days ago. and found out that by the time I finished the game I got the platinum.

The game has a good story. and some challeging puzzles. you can skip them if you just want to "watch" the story. But you will not get the platinum.

I liked this games when they have good stories. Dracula Origins for the PC, and the 7th guest (and its sequel the 11th hour) are good examples of this kind of games.

how long does it take pea souper to unlock? i loaded the game from the start, and before doing anything i sat there for 10-15 minutes pressing L2 repeatedly and the trophy still hasn't popped!

Nevermind, turns out you can't get it until you have finished the first tutorial case (the simoan necklace) and returned to baker street. perhaps you should add that to the guide? :)

Just about to start this game, I love that this guide lists the trophies in the order you should obtain them while playing through the game. Best way to make a guide.

Yeah i like when guides list them by the order you should get them, makes it so much easier, but then i guess with sherlock holmes it's almost impossible to get them in any other order

It's pretty easy to get 3 in a row, and then just keep moving the balls around until you have as many as you can get into each section, then work on moving one ball out of each but do it so that when you bring a ball of that colour from the other section of balls, you can move them all into the line they need to be in.

It's a hard puzzle to describe, and without playing the entire game again up to that point i can't help any more. like i say, try and get as many in as you can, and then work on the others, it's the easiest way

I just posted a nice video guide. Link is on THE BRAIN trophy section.

Or just click on it on the main page of this game.

My advice, constantly pause the video. The guy who did it, did not make it slow or quick. took a bit of time. but if you are watching and trying to do it at the same time you will get lose. It happened to me.

What I did was watch 2 or 3 steps, pause, and repeat them in my game. watch another 2 or 3 steps, pause, and so on.

Ok so after I beat the game I noticed I didnt get The Brain. Turns out Im missing a trophy for a puzzle too. I guess I accidentally put the controller down and it nudged the stupid skip button because I know I didnt skip any. I should just start over instead of trying to reload around that puzzle because The Brain a cumulitive trophy, right? So miss one = start again.

Don't quote me on this, but i think it is only cumulative if you then save AFTER skipping, meaning if you reload before skipping you should be ok, but like i say, don't quote me

As Fragpuss said. If you know which puzzle you skipped, and have a save file prior to beggining that puzzle. You can reload the file and start playing from that point to the end of the game. Otherwise, you will have to start all over again.

A very excellent trophy guide!

Thanks. :)

  • 2 weeks later...

So I skipped one puzzle by accident and just got down the this trophy that claims you can't skip anything. Also missed blackmailer and didnt see it until I got to it. Would have really helped to have that at the top considering you had these trophies laid out in order, and this is a gold where it is throughout the whole game. The way you had the missables laid out was a bit confusing. Just my opinion. Now to start a new game.
