Velvet
Overview: Estimated trophy difficulty: Average: 7.85/10 , Personal: 8/10 Offline trophies: 38 (25 , 10 , 2 , 1 ) Online trophies: 8 (4 , 4 ) Approximate amount of time to platinum: 20-30+ hrs (highly dependent on luck) Minimum number of playthroughs: 39 single player episodes, 10 Local MP games and 30 online games Number of missable trophies: No missable trophies, replay option available Glitched trophies: None Does difficulty affect trophies?: No, cannot change difficulty Do trophies stack?: No Do cheat codes disable trophies?: No cheat codes available Introduction Come on down, you’re the next contestant on The Price is Right: Decades! Welcome to PSN’s updated version of The Price is Right game show. In this game, you’ll guess, play, and spin your way for a chance to play in the Showcase. The game is made up of 39 episodes over four decades. Each episode includes the Contestant’s Row, 1 pricing game, 1-3 big wheel spins (depending on what you land on) and the Showcase. The game itself is not very difficult, but the real issue is that this game is based a lot on luck. There are 8 online trophies that will most likely take the majority of your time while going for Platinum. Again, it’s not that they’re hard, just very luck based. Getting the ‘98 Plinko game is one thing, but getting $30,000 in said Plinko game is another story. Though, in due time, it will happen. Walkthrough Step 1- Unlock all the episodes in single player First, you will need to play all of the single player episodes. When you’re at the main menu, you’ll have the option to choose Single Player, Multiplayer or Options. Choose Single Player and from there (if you’ve already started playing), choose continue. Here, each and every episode will be randomly chosen for you to play - only in single player will it let you know which episode from which decade you are going to playing, as there is no hint when playing online. In order for the videos to be unlocked for freeplay, you must play through the game in Single Player via the “continue” option. Note, it will cycle through all non-played episodes before repeating any. Here are the links to the answer lists for each decade for reference: All 1970's decade Contestant Row/Bonus Games - PlaystationTrophies.org All 1980's Contestant Row/Bonus Games - PlaystationTrophies.org All 1990's Decade Contestants Rows/ Bonus Games - PlaystationTrophies.org All 2000's Contestants Row/Bonus Games - PlaystationTrophies.org During this step, you’re going to want to try to get in and win the showcase for each episode. Winning the showcase unlocks the bonus tape for each episode. You will need all the tapes for the Platinum trophy (see below for more info). As you play through all the episodes and unlock the “freeplay” episode tapes, you will earn the “Unlock x tapes” trophies (you do not need to unlock the bonus tapes for these trophies). Archive Rookie Archive Explorer Archive Lover Archive Specialists Archive Master You’re also going to want to try and get as many of the pricing game specific trophies that you can (refer to the answer guides for help): The PhD A Nickel Away Conquer the Maze On The Edge No Strikes Homerun! The Clairvoyant Time to Go Bonkers! Step 2 - Local Multiplayer games For this step, you’re going to need four controllers. Although you can get most (all but one) of the trophies with two players/controllers, you will need to play at least one game with four players/controllers. It is advised to have the host player win each of the games (Contestants Row, Pricing Game, etc) to ensure they win at the end since most of the trophies require this to happen. After playing 10 games (with at least one win involving four players,) you will earn: Let’s get the party started Big Winner Party Animal If you are using the answer guides to win the Showcase Showdown, the host player should be able to win a Double Money Showcase which will also unlock: Big Fred If you are lucky enough to win $15,000 in a 1983 Plinko game in this round, you will earn: Lucky Chips Step 3 - Online Multiplayer games All but one of the online trophies can be earned with two players (the only which cannot is Serious Playe,r which requires four.) After playing 30 games (hosting at least 10, winning five four player games, winning an additional five with 2+ players) you will earn: Social Player The Champion The Contestant Serious Player The Veteran Hospitality Please note that if you wish to find a boosting partner for any of these trophies, you can consult the Boosting Thread. During this time, you will want to try for the following: Win three Hurdles Games for The Athlete and win $30,000 in Plinko ’98 for Drop It Like It’s Hot. Your patience will be tested, you will become frustrated, you will question your decision to buy the game, you will curse it all to hell and maybe even cry a little, but in due time, you will earn the Plinko trophy. TIP: If you are looking for a certain decade/episode, look at the curtains during the intro of the episode. 1970’s - Brown/reddish curtains 1980’s - Vibrant Red, Blue, Green and Yellow vertical stripes 1990’s - Dark Red x2, Dark Green x2, Dark Blue x2 w/ little white “gem” accents 2000’s - Silver, yellow If you do not get the decade you need, quit the game and restart. If you’re going for a certain year, do a text search in the decade’s answer list during the Contestant’s Row to help narrow down which episode you are playing. Step 4 - Cleanup and Showcase Master If you have already unlocked all of the above mentioned trophies, you should only need Showcase Master, the cumulative score trophies and the Decades fans trophies. You must play through the episode to get to the Showcase, but not for the Pricing Games. You can select to only play the pricing game from the single player archive menu - the cumulative scores stack whether you play the full show or not, but this is only in the single player game. The cumulative score trophies you will earn are: The Finish Line Punched! Get it Rollin’ Somewhere over the Rainbow The Pot of Gold Superstar My Name is Tiger Shopaholic It’s a Kind of Magic Play through any more Pricing games you need to earn the Fan’s trophies for each decade (Note you do not need to play through the whole show, just the pricing games for these.) There are rumours that you can actually start the pricing game and then quit to main menu without completing the game and it will still count, but this is unconfirmed. The 70s Fan The 80s Fan The 90s Fan The 00s Fan Rumor confirmed: I can also confirm that for the Fan based 70's-00's pricing games you DO NOT need to complete them. Just starting them up and exiting after a few seconds will suffice. I discovered this whilst trying to get the 2009 3 strikes trophy If you haven’t watched all the bonus tapes yet, do so now to earn: Movie Night Videophile Once you have won a showcase from every show (39 showcases), you will earn Showcase Master. If you have done everything listed and earned all the trophies, you will be able to enjoy the Ultra Rare The Ultimate Fan. At the time of writing this, only 25 some odd players have earned it out of the 1340+ game owners. Congratulations! Please see below for trophy specific details and further help if required. A HUGE Thanks to PTKush, PrinceOfPeace (Bigsnacks) and MrMinderBinder for helping with all the online trophies & figuring out the tips and tricks for some of the games. Also, thanks to the following for your contribution of price/item list: FilmNoir77, PSCrusader, Iceman33502, zer0 sp, Iceyice, Cobman1998, TterrajSiwel, Aces_One, Fatbastardtoad, Crazy-TrainZ28, Ballin404, Sourdoughboy, TheNukes, Monkey-Hands, DarkwingDudes, PTKush, Moochachoas, Suxors and tbone452123. The game will cycle through all the unplayed episodes before repeating any. https://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1485/5B1.jpg Showcase Master Win every showcases of every shows. The trophy description is a little misleading - you do not have to win every single showcase in the game (thanks for clearing that up PTKush). You just need to win one from each episode. You can keep track of which ones you need via the archive - if you have won a showcase, you have also unlocked the bonus video for the episode and it will have a gold star on the tape. Once you have won one showcase from each episode, this trophy will unlock. https://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1485/38C.jpg Social Player Play a show online (any game mode). This trophy is undoubtedly the hardest and most frustrating in the game. ]The answers for all the 1998 Plinko games are below to ensure you play with the maximum of 5 chips. You need three $10,000 chips- there is no other way to get $30,000. There is no “special spot” to drop the chip from to make it land on $10,000 every time (unfortunately). The chips will not collide with each other or “ghost over” each other, they will slightly repel like same charge sides magnets - it’s not too extreme, but just be aware of this while playing. It has helped me land in the $10,000 slot, but it has also kept me from landing in it. Just be patient and remember that it is in fact possible. It is recommended you use the curtain tip and constantly quit/restart the game until you get a 90’s game. I played this Plinko game well over 30 times before I got it, so again, good luck to all who are going for this! Single Player Mode only. Although the trophy does not state this, it cannot be earned in a multiplayer game. There’s been a few strategies thrown out there to try and help with this, the details of which can be found below. Thank you to TterrajSiwel for tips pertaining to the second spin. [spoiler=unique showcaseshowdownyo] For the first spin, very lightly (but quickly) flick the joystick to the left - it should make one complete circle and land on 100. For the second spin, put the tab in the middle of the 90 and do the same light spin - it should come full circle +1 and land on the 100 again. Newc
I came back to this game after 2-1/2 years to get it off my hard drive. How thankful was I to see people put the price lists together. I had my own but gave up on them. This guide helped me speed through this game like nothing. Very grateful! To those that take this game on I have some Plinko tips/suggestions/odds that may be useful. First, it is not luck when Plinko decides to show up. I mapped out my odds (roughly) & each game shows up once per cycle. I think the cycle is 14 games. If you get Plinko on your first game you may not see it again until your 26th game. But I guarantee that you will see it twice within 28 games. (Be sure to use the curtain trick to determine the decade & the contestants row list to back out when necessary). Second, I used two controllers and two ps3's and did the online myself. I hit the drop it like it's hot after (23) plinko's .. that consisted of 316 games of trying to get plinko... that averages just under 14 games per plinko. Because this wasn't done in one sitting the averages are not exact. I also did not give my opponent any extra plinko chips and I let the timer run out for all chips. This probably takes 5-6 hours of total time depending how fast you can work. Third, on Lucky Chips, the averages are the same but I found it quicker to work with the 80's decade. I obtained this trophy in one sitting after 7 plinkos which was a cycle of 104 games... based on that average... it seems that the cycle is actually 15 games (determined by one sitting). I took a break but did not exit the game so this took probably 3-4 hours. I don't think the game "unlocks" the ability to "win" until you've played so many rounds of plinko. I hope these stats can help anyone trying for it. And many thanks to the hard work of the pricing guide!!!

Iceyice
Just wanted to get on here in late September of 2018 to say that this is an amazing guide. At the moment there is a NY Lottery 'Price is right' scratch off game that made me think of this nightmare of a luck-based game. The scratch off made me think that i should win for all the hell i went through to get the two Plinko trophies! The top prize is 1 million. If i win, i'll let you know!
