Introduction

Welcome to one of the classic arcade rail shooters now on PSN. This game is loads of fun and a challenging 100%. The game is very basic and a playthrough will only run you about 25-30 minutes. You will need at least 4 playthroughs to get all 4 endings.

Playthrough 1 - Beat the game on Very Easy

In this step just play the game normally, you will get all story related trophies. If you achieve a B rank or lower you will get the standard ending, which is ending 1.

Playthroughs 2-4 - Beat the game focusing on getting A or S ranks 3 more times on Very Easy

Here is where you will fight for the rest of the endings. You can do this in either Time Attack or Survival. You will need to get at least an A rank or higher overall at the end of the game to achieve the other 3 endings. When given the choice of 3 levels to play after you complete chapter 1, make sure you choose a different last level each playthrough while getting the A rank or higher to get the endings.

Clean-Up

Focus on getting the SS Rank for "Special Agent" or complete Time Attack

TROPHY GUIDE

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1348/0DF.jpg - TWIN SHOT! (B)

Complete a "TWIN SHOT".

This will probably be the first trophy you get and it's almost unmissable. All you have to do is kill 2 zombies with 1 shot. Easily done when aiming for the head when a hoard is approaching you.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1348/381.jpg - REMINISCENCE (B)

Clear CHAPTER 0.

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed.

Play through freeplay mode on survivor for your first playthrough from the beginning of the game (chapters set to ALL) and you will get this and all other chapter trophies.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1348/CFD.jpg - MECHA ZOMBIE (B)

Destroy a Mecha Zombie.

The easiest place to get this is in chapter 4A (or if starting from the beginning of the game, take "Entrance" in chapter 1, then play the "Fool" boss level and then the "Sun" boss level. This leaves the "Death" boss level for last). After you encounter the vultures on a narrow bridge passway enemies will jump down; there is a barrel to the left as you move across the bridge. A zombie with a saw will saw the glass you are approaching, ignore him and shoot the barrel and shoot the hell out of the toy (Mecha Zombie) that comes out of it. Killing it will net you 3000 points and this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1348/9AB.jpg - RESCUE EXPERT (S)

Complete all RESCUE Scenes.

These sequences will vary depending on the order you play the levels, I found the easiest was playing them in order (Entrance > Fool > Sun > Death). There are a total of 7 rescue sequences:

One in chapter 1

Two each in the 3 selectable chapters.

You'll probably get this without even trying but if you're having trouble just make note of when the sequence is going to happen to prepare yourself during another run through. You can practice on free play with chapter select also. What I did was position my reticule when I knew a sequence was coming up so I could take out the first zombie right away. Make sure you kill your target before moving to the next zombie or else you will definitely fail the rescue. You don't have time to go back to an enemy you shot but didn't kill.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1348/7A7.jpg - TIME ATTACKER (S)

Clear Time Attack Mode.

This is one of the 3 hard trophies in the game but it's not that bad. The trick to clearing this mode is speed (obviously) and NOT GETTING HIT. What I mean by this is do not bother going for headshots or high accuracy. Just focus on killing as many zombies as you can because you get a time extension for killing enemies and you get a penalty against your remaining time when you get hit. Hidden items (in barrels, boxes, etc) might be clocks that add 7 seconds to your timer, so it is worth shooting them when you have the chance. Also the rescue sequences will net you 10 seconds if you succeed at them.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1348/F43.jpg - FATE (S)

Clear all 4 endings.

Here is what you need to do to get all 4 endings:

Ending 1 - Get a B rank or below.

Ending 2 - Get an A rank or higher and make sure the last chapter before Curien you choose is the Death boss

Ending 3 - Get an A rank or higher and make sure the last chapter before Curien you choose is the Sun boss.

Ending 4 - Get an A rank or higher and make sure the last chapter before Curien you choose is the Fool boss.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1348/D7D.jpg - SPECIAL AGENT (G)

Rated as "SPECIAL AGENT" in Final Result.

This is the mother of the House of the Dead 3 trophies. To get a Special Agent ranking you need to play the game from beginning to end (in Free Play Survivor) getting an overall SS Rank. To get the SS rank you need to have 4 S Ranks and 2 A Ranks between the 6 chapters (Chapter 0 to 5). Here are some tips:

#1 - Accuracy counts, try not to miss or go for shots when you are moving too much.

#2 - Go for headshots, they give more points, kill faster and you might get Twin Shot bonuses.

#3 - TIME MATTERS, seconds can mean everything, try to complete the level as fast as you can.

#4 - Shoot zombies when they are down, it helps you move quicker and you get points for doing so.

#5 - Score matters to some degree, I was going for all hidden score items I could.

#6 - Always shoot the bosses (except Fool) asit adds to your score + accuracy even if you're dealing no damage.

#7 - Avoid getting hit, this greatly reduces your score and might even make it impossible to get S.

#8 - USE ALL 4 TRIGGERS ON THE DUALSHOCK 3. Hitting L1, R1, L2 and R2 at the same time will make you shoot 4 shells at once. This is critical to beating the bosses without getting hit.

#9 - Do not fail any rescue sequence.

You might want to edit this method in the guide as I had great success with it.

I had discovered though that endings seem to be strictly score-based in Time Attack mode. I was able to see all endings on command by scoring certain amounts and that's what I did to earn the Fate trophy (I saw Mystery Man and GTA this way) here several years later. My results are as follows (I haven't pinned down the exact ranges though):

Danny says goodbye: Score less than 130K (not sure about cutoff)

Zombie drives off in SUV: Score between 130K to below 170K (I just earned this ending today with a score of 159K)

Danny turns into zombie: Score between 170K to below 200K

Mystery man: Score at least 200K

Now, it is a little tricky to make sure your score falls within the correct range for the lower endings. You should have broken 100K by the time you hit the final boss and it's easy to go WAY past 200K with your leftover time bonus. You'll want to get the boss down to a sliver of life and let your time get low before delivering the death blow so the bonus will either get you into the appropriate range or keep you in the right one. I think I waited until the time hit 20-something to get the GTA ending today, though your score may vary.

I was able to achieve the endings I needed by manipulating my score (purposely taking damage, shooting slow etc.) in Time Attack mode despite not having any success in Survival.
